The problem is the 2.3 cinematic was the ones with the Commandos in it. 3.1 was the one with the Assassin dying. The criticals were for the 2.3 cinematic. Although I still feel, despite what we are told, that the cinematics are in the wrong order. They may have wanted to introduce the commandos before the Assassin was killed, but the way it was done and the timing, was off. But that's probably more a result of the transition and not of the original story time line. So yeah, these next criticals (if they remember to actually turn them on when they bring the servers up after the patch) will be 3.1 criticals but they probably are not connected to the 3.1 cinematic.

Are people absolutely sure its not ment to be your RSI? When you watch the first Cinematic back, the one where the Oracle is apparently talking directly to you, its bares a striking similarity to the 3.1 cinematic. This has always been my perception of both cinematics.

Well yes, they are 3.1 missions, but we know who killed the Assassin's 5th clone. It was a red pill that wishes to remain unknown at this time =D And I still expect that their identity and alignment is going to be decided in an event if they are ever brought back into the story.

I find it cool that everything is looking cool for this next patch.  Too bad I cant get to my computer till tonight.  I just hope the servers a down till I get home. If anyone is able to get these masks tell me if there one time use or constant.

If your getting your computer tonight, you'll be able to jack in brand new like the rest of us, since the patch isn't in until Wednesday or Thursday.

#10300001186 10/25/2005 06:11:50 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion

I must say, this patch looks very promissing. Its great to know that you guys are listening to us because I can see a lot of "complained about items" getting fixed this time around.

The good ol flaming hands.

The gaussian blu... I mean HyperSpeed animation. SMILEY

The incorrect refund price for stakes, water, and bullets.

Moving the Arch over to DT where he belongs.

Kudos for this one! One question though, is the Halloween content available as of today also? Or its going to be turned on over the weekend (haven't gotten a chance to patch up yet).

#10300001188 10/25/2005 06:17:00 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion
Wow a lot of great stuff!! The new missions are an extra special suprise!! :smileyvery-happy:

I will miss the hyperspeed making one of the purple moon dresses turn bright blue SMILEY But that's ok! SMILEY

I'm excited!
#10300001189 10/25/2005 06:18:35 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion

Rooting effects no longer prevent tactic changes and special moves in Interlock.

What about Bottleneck Field? Deadly Throw? Crippling Shot? Hindering Shot? etc.

#10300001190 10/25/2005 06:28:07 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion
wow you all are getting on the right track, I am glad to see the
flaming fists are gone, and hyper-speed gets a new look. Good. Glad
George is going to be gone, it was a little weird to have all these
cool names and then George.

I look foreward to getting the new patch, let the fun begin.

Looks like you all are finally getting settled at SOE.  In my opinion you guys have always rocked despite what you've been through.  Awesome patch and keep up the good work fellas.
#10300001193 10/25/2005 07:23:44 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion
Does this mean that we will be able to cause status effects through energized attacks and precise blows now? Sorry if it was already discussed. That is a point of tension for us MA's though...

....who said new cinematic...

First:

in the patch notes you can read

The Matrix Online Story Continues in Episode 3.1!

The 3.1 Storyline missions are now available in game.

Second:

The 3.1 Cinematic is there since end of the event.

Anyway.... nice to see the first adjusting at the eye-hurting effects.

And the halloween stuff will be a nice change in MxO.

Did i read right? The NPC for the Pandora Lootsets is moved out of mara city?.

Can´t belive it. I became sucked after finishing pandora box 2. Not because the pandora thing itself.

No. Because it´s simply impossible for a merovingian to browse through the UI longer then 2 seconds

Awesome!!! SMILEY  Halloween hunting here I go!

#10300001196 10/25/2005 11:38:22 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion
Quick question. We know Halloween weekend will be in complete darkness, and there are some of us that sometimes do not listen to the built-in radio and instead listen to the game's music.

Does this mean we'll just be constantly listening to the "Nighttime In Richland" theme while hanging out in Mara Central? Or, will the music possibly be changed to something more... Halloweenish? Like, the church/gothic-age Archive music, and an addition just for that weekend to the battle music selection could be the gothic-age Archive battle music (known as "GraveC"). That'd be nice for those of us that are level 40+ and can't ever go to Widows Moor again.

But otherwise, I can't wait for this patch.

I don't know but I think it was TheKid.
#10300001198 10/25/2005 16:12:01 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion

This next patch will further emasculate the Coder tree by "fixing" the SOE-proclaimed Proxy "exploit". Now a Coder will be just some secondary or tertiary member of a team, where the MA's are masters of all they survey.  MxO is rapidly becoming a bad Jackie Chan movie, but with adolescents running around acting as they were children in need of Ritalin bragging about there latest conquests and flaming and/or taunting all they meet.

A "moot" point as stated by some Moderator recently after someone voiced their opinion regarding the Proxy “exploit”. Then the zealous Moderator cordially locked the thread so that no further discussion could occur after the omnipotent, omniscient Walrus spake his wisdom.

Nice Community Forum, where opinion cannot be freely expressed.

In regard to the Halloween theme, will we be expecting future holiday patches, like Christmas, Kwanzaa, Columbus day, or Mother's day?   How about an Easter egg hunt during Lent where super-buffed bunnies come shooting out with special abilities that last until Easter Sunday? Or are we just drawn to the one dark so-called "Holiday", Halloween, which has absolutely no basis in the Matrix trilogy?

And since there is already a 3.1 cinematic, and they only mentioned 3.1 missions, everyone's best guess is: No new cinematic, yet.
#10300001201 10/25/2005 16:23:02 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion
Ok so what time exactly do the Jack-o-Lanterns become available in game?

Morning of November 1? 12:am till when.

You're catering for a game americans don't seem to want play, why not for once cater for some international players that want to play the game!

#10300001203 10/25/2005 22:42:04 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion
You might want to read these notes Orien:
The Matrix Online 2005 Halloween Masquerade
Specially this part:
Through the morning of November 1, players will find special Jack-O-Lanterns placed around the Mega City.

That seem to go against previous statement and what my post is based on.

You might be still here Orien, but the numbers are quite low. 40,000 isn't much and if so like I said why limit you're audience.

#10300001205 10/25/2005 23:58:28 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion
They won't be. I quote,

"Sorry, but the masks will officially turn off the morning of November 1 when we restart the servers to clean up after the Masquerade. Our original plan wasn't even to begin until Friday, but decided it would be easier to get everything going as soon as the update is in--no extra restarts. SMILEY"

The masks you find for Haloween don't grant any buffs - so I doubt that the "7th Mask" will do so. Overall I seriously doubt that they will just give away Assassin masks - unbuffed ones maybe

And - while I'm glad about new visual effects for Precise Blow and Energized Attacks - how about fixing the fact that U cannot stagger or daze your opponent when using them FIRST before making new animations?

Message Edited by Miggesch on 10-25-2005 04:34 AM

i agree with the Energised Attacks and Precise Blows bug, i think, though i havnt thoroughly tested, that Calm Body also has the same bug. very annoying, even more so then the animation

#10300001208 10/26/2005 06:56:04 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion

"The Archaeologist has moved his digs to the Historical District."

Now is this a new neighborhood contact or is this the guy that was standing
by the Mara Central Hardline?  If it is a new contact then where did he move from?

"Silver Dragon gang Bosses no longer spawn as "Some Person" in the International District"

There are also the gang Gold Bloods whose bosses spawn as "Some Person" in Sai Kung.

"Ginjiro has displaced George as the Silver Dragons' leader"

Now I thought it was a little funny that George was used as a name for the Silver
Dragons boss because I got the referance th Saint George who killed dragons and
thought that was a good little easter egg and very clever.

Looks like this will be a good patch, but now what about an answer to the percise blows
ability hampering the chances of putting the enemy into a special state (dazed etc)  Is that
going to be fixed or is that the way it is meant to be?

To Miggesch - A FYI if you use Punishing blows you do get the special States.  To do this you have

to load Percise Blows, but not activate it.  Activate Punishing Blows.  Calm Body does not have any effect

on the ability to cause special states.

#10300001211 10/26/2005 10:28:22 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion
The reference to "through November 1" is continued from the previous paragraph, which states that the event begins with Update 37. Update 37 will be released either Thursday or Friday morning, depending on a few issues, so the event will be at least 4 days long.

#10300001219 10/28/2005 03:37:14 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion

Since I can't sign into the game yet, a rare non-story post from Yr most Hmbl & Ob'dt Srvnt.

* The Precise Blow job and Hyperspeed animation: Eh. I was always neutral on that, though I kinda liked the effects. Frankly I'd suggest something innovative-- yes, I know this is now a Sony product, but bear with me-- a regular in-game vote as to such effects. I mean, they've been tweaked about three times already. Go into a polling place, cast your vote for which animations you want for the next season, and if you feel strongly about one or the other, campaign for it.

* I too will miss George, having remembered the story (Poul Anderson?) The Dragon And The George. On the other hand I suspect the Some Person gang will continue to infiltrate others willy-nilly.

* The Archaeologist does make more sense in a Downtown district, as his quests require higher levels than you'd get in Mara C. So goody goody gumdrops, Clarisse.

* The biggest fix I've been looking forward to is the Consumable Tool value fix. I noticed early on that we weren't getting any money from these things, and dutifully reported it in a CCR; while I'm certain that that was just put into the bit-bucket as per SOE policy, I'm glad that an admin noticed it was wrong.

Now for the bQitchfest.

* Oh goody. Permenant darkness. All that could be done to improve it is for this to become another Black Helicopter: something that sticks around forever since whoever implemented it forgot to take it out. Sigh. At least we're only missing those four hours of daylight per day that we used to get! I do wish someone had sat the devs down with one of those "learn to tell time" kits. Or that some clever soul comes up with light amplification glasses. I've always wondered why, since it's dark 83.3% of the time, everyone wears sunglasses.

He gave a courtly bow toward The Architect. "For some time I 'ave want to talk with you about these lighting in le Matrix. The torchiere lamp, it does not do so well the job; rooms are tres dark, and--"

"Try taking off your sunglasses."

lePetomaine did. "Sacre bleu!" he exclaimed.

The whole Halloween costume thing smacks of EverQuest and I can't believe people are getting excited over it! It's just a matter of time until we have Elves in the game, you mark my words.

* Someday our browsers will be able to log us into this site automatically. The "Remember my password" checkbox will someday work. Nothing new here, as this has been dysfunctional since my EQOA days, but it'd still be nice. Yes, it's off topic, but it's one of the biggest pains in the neck for those of us whose main activity is posting in Next Renaissance.

If you noticed what I wrote I was just telling you that you can still use Punishing Blows which

is the higher version of Percise Blows and still get the special states.  I said that because

many people assume that if Percise Blows won't work then Punishing won't work.  As to the

Calm Mind, I was answering a bunch of questions in that one place and it got combined.

So far a great patch!  New Sentinel, hyper speed is sweet, and the
JoL's are fun.  I was kinda hoping the clubs would be a little
more decorated, but i cant complain.

We now need a post update discussion. :smileywink:

#10300001224 10/28/2005 18:47:57 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion
The new hyper speed would be far better if they dropped the yellow code and if it didn't just stop the animation after 9 seconds or so (but that seems to be a client side problem). The new fists are okay but not that impressive. But at least we now get the info for undead weapons - I forget how many months ago I /ccr'd that before it was patched to the live game.
#10300001225 10/28/2005 22:54:52 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion
So, yeah. For this we waited a month.

The new hyperspeed animation causes more lag, and it screws up the textures on characters. Pointless, unecessary change.

The permadark is ridiculously dark and isn't working all the time. I
have several nice shots of me in my Gargoyle suit, with the sun
overhead.

Oh, and the costumes. While neat, they decactivate Tuesday. Hours of
farming to get an item that deactivates in a few days is sick and
wrong.

Typical SOE garbage. Next time put it clearly in the patch notes that I
can get a special halloween mask, that will die right after, so I don't
waste my time.

#10300001228 10/29/2005 05:45:57 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion
My biggest gripe is that after going to 6 different locations and
farming pumpkins for hours, I've still yet to get a gargoyle mask.

Wow - I guess some people are just never happy
#10300001230 10/29/2005 09:30:47 Re: Update 37 (Pre-update) Discussion
One thing that leads to another:

The new Hyperspeed animation is awful folks. You need to get rid of
that in the next patch. I'm sorry but it's just no good. And I DO have
a valid reason (other than the obvious lag issues) for it:

I'm a Hacker... (let the flames begin. LOL) and even I have to say that
I am just very disappointed with the animations in this Matrix. Truth
is, the colors yellow and red and blue were NEVER (let me repeat that)
NEVER found in ANY of the films guys. Well, not never... there was once
instance when the truce was lifted... everything seemed more
colorful... but in every other film... all green, all the time.

In fact, the brothers specifically used a green tinted film to shoot
on. What's with all the wacky colors, Devs?? The idea was to create a
"coded" environment similar to the old monochrome screens of yore.

Bring back the green. And you can't fool me guys, I'm a dev as well in
other areas. Changing colors is a simple two step process (if you're
using a class based authoring tool that is) - You just change the hex
values for the colors to green shades.

You guys do a wonderful job in most areas, so I'm really not
complaining. But I would love to see more of the film style design in
this game. That is something that needs to be addressed.

Otherwise, I love the Halloween event. Very fun to integrate the real calendar... good call.
