White Hallways

No, not white rooms—white hallways. You know, the hallways that lead to backdoors in the
system. Yes, they exist in The Matrix
Online.
And, after some time and testing, we plan on bringing them to
you.

The plan is to make white hallways accessible by taking
special missions. There will be three possible “backdoors”—one for each Organization.
These doors will lead to special Org-only areas where Crews and Factions can
meet in private.

The team’s been doing a lot of work on them over the past
few months and we’ll begin testing soon.

Simply awesome.

Two questions:

1. What kind of rewards will we be seeing to trade in for the Mission Archive Tokens? Also, can these please be uploadable so it doesn't clog our inventory space?

2. Is the QA going to be up in time to test the Org Abilities?

Holy Crap dude, I can't believe this.

People have been asking for this since beta and I never thought it'd become a reality.  Faction/Crew only places? Holy crap

I'm speechless :O

*Yeah just wanted to stress the question about the QA server and info on it coming back, since you expressed interest in bringing it back to test the org abilities*

yes, i agree. white halls to secret rooms are pretty cool.

As a new player, I'm really looking forward to the archive missions. The reward tokens are pure gravy compared to getting to review the story line missions I wasn't here for.

I don't believe these areas are Crew/Faction specific, rather Organizational specific where your Crew/Faction can hang out. Still tremendously cool though.
#10300003365 06/09/2006 21:11:12 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, June 9, 2006

FINALLY! White rooms and hallways FTW! No more sploiters trying to get in and getting banned! And Archive missions and org abilities! Now we just need a balanced Zen Master and their respective trees after this is all over with. SMILEY

Thank god, I thought they were the cruddy beginner missions we start out with at the beginning of MxO.
#10300003374 06/09/2006 21:47:24 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, June 9, 2006
WHOA!

Finally MxO takes a huge step forward.

These changes will bring just about everyone online. May I recommend another free trial after you guys implement the white rooms and the archive missions? Those could catch up everyone.

Hopefully there is a branch tweak too?
#10300003375 06/09/2006 21:48:52 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, June 9, 2006
The free trial is still going on. It was such a success they kept it going.
#10300003376 06/09/2006 21:53:37 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, June 9, 2006

white hallways FTW!

but i also think what he means is that it is to the org so its not like each faction will get their own seperate rooms that no other faction (from that same org) can go in. but more like a bunch of conference rooms. and you pick one and go in it. And the org can move freely in and out it. i guess i can relate it to a hospital where there have conference rooms. anyone from the intensive care unit can go in em. (icu = org) bad analogy sorry SMILEY

anyways Woot!:smileyvery-happy:

Can't wait for the org abilities and white hallways/org specific meeting areas.  Just want to reiterate the question re: the QA server will it be back up to help test the new abilities.
#10300003378 06/09/2006 21:59:40 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, June 9, 2006

No, I think it's restricted to faction rooms and such. If it were freely moving between every org member, then no intel would be safe for any org, including the EPN and CYPH splinter orgs.

From what I read, it's not going to be Faction specific, but Org specific. Each of the three Orgs will get their own rooms.

#10300003391 06/09/2006 23:44:18 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, June 9, 2006
Do you expect the mission archive rewards to be ready at the same time as the archive missions themselves, or are we going to have a lot of tokens on our hands until that gets implemented?

If that's the case... PLEASE make them uploadable, or better yet - emailable to oneself.

But if they can make org specific then probably later in time they can enable faction specific...

but hey 1step at a time yeah?
#10300003395 06/10/2006 00:28:26 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, June 9, 2006
I can see it now.

*Everyone opens the doors to the hallways for the first time.*

*No one enters*

"Will we get banned?"

"I think you can touch it."

"You first."

*Seive touches orgasmic tile flooring.*
*Server explodes.*
#10300003396 06/10/2006 00:46:03 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, June 9, 2006

Yeah, I'd like to know the answer to Void's Q as well... it's not clear in the article whether we'll be able to trade the tokens for the rewards right away, or if we'll have to wait.

I'm very curious to see how the white halls /org locked areas is going to work.  We're not getting THE "white rooms", but I do wonder what we will be getting.  A teaser picture of this would be very nice... even if it's just a white room (but, of course, isn't THE white room  lol).

I'm also adding my voice to the call for making the org abilities player testable on a reopened test server.  If you want a true guage of balance and a real shot at finding the bugs, this is the way to go.

Overall, though, I can't wait to see this stuff implemented, even if most/all of it isn't going to completely change the game as we know it.

Indeed. So the mission archive 'should' be out for the next patch...then the white hallways, and then the org abilities?

It feels humbling, waiting for months wondering will they/won't they finally add something, and then we get this lot!! Yea!!!

#10300003401 06/10/2006 01:53:16 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, June 9, 2006
Yeah, IMO we certainly need QA back up. Just one little problem I forsee with the Org Specific abilities though:

They’ll be earned
through each Organization’s graduation missions. We’ll be re-doing the
missions, so players who have already done the graduation missions will be
able to retake them to get the Abilities.

Soo... if I move from Mech to Merv and grind back up through
all those missions, what happens to my mech abilities? I presume that
they don't simple disappear from my inventory? They need to be
explicitly rep locked, or else it might be possible to use abilities from all three orgs.

#10300003402 06/10/2006 02:30:10 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, June 9, 2006
Finally those 'meet with' missions will actually serve a purpose and I wonder what these special missions are which you need to get in the white hallways. There will soon be plenty to do and no-one will say this game is boring.
