Oh... my... god.

The moment i saw 'special edition' i knew it was something bad i really did.

First off, words can not describe how much i apprechiate all you've done for this game and it's community Walrus. You should know by now how much we all care for you.

Second, and i'm not going personal here, but i do know this can not be a good thing for the game right now, at least not in the short term, we all know the history there, and i for one know people who will not be happy/staying. That and Walrus is seen as one of the driving forces of the game and community.

I'll just say this: Raij has some BIG shoes to fill and if he doesn't adequently then we're doomed. End of.

Thirdly, does this mean another sig comp? =P

Hey folks, so yeah I understand how some of you feel. Walrus is a great person for the community and he's really been there to help weather the storms that have come up. He's the perverbial rock that's always been there. The good thing is, he's still going to be there in a production role which is pretty darn awesome!

Sure I've made mistakes and I've learned a great deal since being part of the Community Team so I expect to move forward better than before. I'm really in this to help make the MxO community a great place to be, just as Walrus has done in the past. I'm open to listening to your ideas and suggestions and I think we can do some great things with the community.

As Yas said, this doesn't inspire hope for MxO's future.  I'm glad you're moving onto bigger and better things, Walrus, it's certainly well deserved.  I wish you well with your 'untitled' but apparently DC-related project.

It's not to the detriment of Raijinn when I say that is quite a blow.  I will say that you have mighty shoes to fill, Sir.

Edit: I appreciate your candour in the post above.  I also forgot to wish you good luck also.

The main thing i hope for out of this is more website attention - i mean, the web guys are over in san diego with Raij right? Means he can give em a smacking over the lack of a guide and the UBER STUPID 'update 2.0' sh1t.

To Walrus: Is it the spy mmo they're working on?

That was never announced, only speculated, and apparently, taken on as some sort of 'half-truth' inside the community.

In fact, all the DC overshadow over MxO is speculation and i wish it'd stop. It's tiring to constantly see 'yeah, they only picked up MxO to get their hands on DC' 'yeah, they'll shut MxO down when DC is out' 'yeah, DC will be just like MxO but better'.

Bah.

Bah.

The fact that SOE has such a crappy history, ruining games, not caring about the customers, etc. I highly doubt DC will become a big MMORPG.

I don't think anyone in this community would want to deal with SOE if they didn't have the rights to MxO
#36300204065 04/02/2007 14:22:52 Re:A Special The Other Side of the Looking Glass - April 2, 2007
Walrus,

Thank you for a great time and I am sure we will meet in person (believe me the IT community management or not is small).

As for your successor, I wish him nothing of the best.

Now this is where I say my two cents:

I dont give a *BLEEP* what others experiences has been (Walrus's successor). As long as he performs at or above Walrus's level we are going to have a good time.

I am very interested in giving this guy a good opportunity. What I do not like is the Goddamned prejudgement, especially when our player population is small and we are finally getting new players who see the crap that some of us veterans post.

I respect your opinions, but that BS some other place (yes that means your damned axes you have to grind).

Lets give the guy a chance, he is human and he has probably learned (read: recovered) from his mistakes (hence his promotion by Walrus and subquent approval by Walrus's superiors).

Good luck Raijinn. Some of us are here for you.
#36300204075 04/02/2007 14:29:54 Re:A Special The Other Side of the Looking Glass - April 2, 2007
Walrus, man you will be greatly missed.  I wish you good luck on your future project. I have been with this game since before the website had a forum and you have been there most of the time. (Anyone remember when the forums seemed to not have any mods at all and were full of spam?)  Even though you have made some mistakes in the past (not to rub it in) I forgave you instantly and you took responsibility for them and instead of what other people where they just edit the mistake and act like it never happened you had the balls to say hey guys its my fault and I'm sorry,  and don't think for a second that you were a lacking CM. Because to me you were an awesome CM and this game and community would be totally different without you.

Best of Luck to you,

As a community, we're all in this together. One of the major things that I see here with the MxO community is that they love the game, what it stands for, and more importantly how much they care for their community. I think it's safe to say that we have one of the most dedicated communities right here in MxO.

I'm glad to see how passionate everyone is about their feelings, yes they do have a place here on the forums as long as it's not flaming, disrupting, or in bad taste.

Remember I'm here to listen to everyone, have some fun, do things for and with the community, but most of all we're in this together so lets make it so that everyone here can have a great time.

Well Walrus - i don't know much in light of the mistakes of the past but i've learned the collective failures of this game can't be pinned on one person and to be honest there are plenty of times when it's not all bad. Throw an LET char my way and i still have the tendency to light up like i did the first time i started playing mxo.

I think many people will miss you, and i suppose i want to thank you for the hardwork you did here. The looking glasses were always a cool part of the story - especially back when the game was better- but that means you were here for the good times and bad so i'm greatful for the good times.

Also i think if walrus belives Raijinn up to he job he is, maybe the past shouldn't be forgotten but if you people are willing to let LESIG 2.0 have a fresh beggining you might aswell give it to him.

I hope this new project thing of yours turns out well and i also hope that it's a game i can jump over to some time and get special treatment SMILEY

Take care Walrus, catch you on the flip side.

Darminian

Enough with the drama.

"I will still be overseeing production of MxO, so I'm not going away
completely. However, I'm handing over the reins of community management..."

Why fuss over someone who isn't really leaving, but dumping the task of writing reports on someone else?

P.S. Vita, why, yes, I did get a reply from Raijinn about a PM I sent him. ~_~ Didn't see that one coming, did you? Maybe he just doesn't like you.

See ya on the flipside Wally. }8

It's a sad day, but at the same time, it should be interesting to see what Raijinn brings to the game in his new position. I'm also quite interested in hearing more about what Walrus is working on now, especially since he deems it something "that appeals to a lot of folks in this community."

Alright I have some suggestions that are in need and overdue and I am sure most of the community agrees with some or all of these.
-Make a guide for the game to put where the faded out Guide button is
-Get the web team to make the pvp rankings based off of CQ for the site that Rarebit was wanting to get done
-More general content for the website this could include more wallpaper, videos, interesting articles and other random website content.
-Get the web team to work on our site more or even at all.
-The always going game Trial that Walrus said we should be getting after the new launchpad is done, which I know it isn't
-The buddy Keys walrus said would be sent out really soon to make up for not having another trial yet.
-Make lots of posts on the Forums and make people feel like they are heard and just talk to us and help promote the community even more.
-I don't know if this is part of your job, but get Marketing to work on this game a little more, the community feels like we are the unwanted game for SOE just so they could get the rights to the DC MMO, this may be true but if you guys are going to run the game you need to make it more worthwhile for you. It has taken a really long time for MxO to be integrated more and more into the SOE community. On the sony sites the random banners and images are mostly fillled with EQ and PS characters and images and slowly MxO images are being thrown in there (Example: http://www.soepress.com/release.asp?i=97 the banner on top of this page) get the game fill more part of the overall SOE community. Also get us some ads on sites, news for big name game sites, maybe even little articles in magazines anything is better than nothing, get us some contests, get the word out about the game!
-There are a ton of more things you could do but I am sure this is enough to get you started SMILEY

This is surprising and I wish the best for ya Walrus!

Im sure its exciting to start new ventures. And since you'll still be here in other ways its not really goodbye. Thank God. Let us know more details when your able to.

And WB Raijinn, I think were in very capable hands and have no doubt you'll  do a great job.
Good luck to you as well.

Thanks for the Memories MXO!

And all I can say is I'll be sad to see Walrus go, but I really do wish him the best and all the best to Raijinn.

PS. Can I be a spy in Prague please Walrus? I'll be sneaky, honest! SMILEY

Umm it's not that we "feel" that SOE is like that, it's the fact that we know.

All SOE is doing is milking out as much money as they can from this game before it shuts down

-Get the web team to make the pvp rankings based off of CQ for the site that Rarebit was wanting to get done

On a side note, apparently Rare had this fully speced but the webteam had yet to do anything with it. Emphesis on anything.

Don't bet on it. If he makes TWO of these things happen, I'll hand away all my crap and cancel my sub (which would make MANY people happy.)

Wait, so you'd cancel if he made two of those awesome things for the game happen? Flawed logic if ya ask me SMILEY

Isn't it a bit late for an April Fool's Day joke? SMILEY

Well I'm sad to see you leave the limelight Walrus. But I'm thrilled to see you getting your career to the next level you want to achieve.

Does this mean you'll have time to attend the Sexy Redpill contest this Friday?

Very sorry to hear you're stepping down from this vital role, Walrus. SMILEY I know you'll still be with MxO, but the fact is you're being drawn towards this other MMO by the powers that be, so however much time you can still dedicate to MxO, we've still lost a valuable asset. Again.

On the flip side, welcome back (?) Raijinn! I'm sure you'll fit in with your new, expanded role. SMILEY Now, to get things rolling, have a stern word with your, uh, lovely Web Team. SMILEY

Your spin will be missed.   Now, we celebrate your promotion with a slightly modified version of Die Hard Three.

Players> Walrus, what's going on? Why is everybody out of here?

Walrus> C'mon Player, look at your watch. It's coming up on shift change. The bean-counters are worried about overtime so we send everybody back to the free center to punch out. The next shift is going to be here in a minute.

Players> You are so full of sh1t Walrus.

Walrus> Thank you.

I wish you the best of luck, W.  SMILEY

Wow. Awesome Walrus.....magnificent to say the least! Enjoy your new job on SOE's new Spy MMORPG aka Vista. I mean seriously....what else could it possibly be with your background huh?! SMILEY And Raijinn is the man with the plan. Perhaps having him here and his long term status with SOE he can use some of his untapped powers with the suits to expand and give our little game a bit more attention. Congratulations Raijinn. Bring the pain!!! Raijinn knows what is up. Have faith you noobs! SMILEY SMILEY
