Given the track record of TSR Joel, when he was a forum admin, to say Im disapointed in your choice of replacment is understatement of the lifetime.

Like I said: I'm not really going anywhere. Just focusing on production.

And, as far as any concerns go, if you'd seen some of the mistakes I made in my past, you would've been disappointed to have me. Give Raijinn a chance. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

#36300203925 04/02/2007 13:01:28 Re:A Special The Other Side of the Looking Glass - April 2, 2007

Well, at least you'll still be producing... and I guess that's most important. Best of luck on the other game too.

Hey, friendly it is. Joel, avoid pissing matches with MxO players and you won't get such a 'lovely' response from them. Like the time you engaged us back int TCR days, and Walrus had to fix your mess. Good luck, you're going to need it.

<Keep it friendly, folks. - Walrus>

You did a grand job, and took the flak for a number of things, Your tusked presence--even if still omiscient--will be missed. Never have we had such a zoological public face, but we loved it. Farewell, Walrus.

Farewell to a great deal of things, in my opinion, but we'll see how it goes... Needless to say, I'm not too chuffed.

Walrus, I've seen you make mistakes before. Hell, I've seen you accidently post the entire weeks events on DN1 before by accident. And I still managed to pull a good time out of Death to the Destroyer.

I've also seen some of TSR Joels mistakes before. Things like playing favorites, "special forums" for aforementioned favorites, hopping in game to talk to the again aforementioned favorites, abuse of the system chat system, and a glaring inability to see where someone was coming from if their opinions did not match his own.

Your mistakes while in the past have been rather large, did not degrade your ability to do your job. Unfortunantly for TSR Joel, I cannot say the same for him. Everything I have seen him do would suggest to me that he is in fact -not- qualified to take on a community managment posistion. Let alone take over that posistion for the very same group he once got pushed out of.
#36300203938 04/02/2007 13:07:57 Re:A Special The Other Side of the Looking Glass - April 2, 2007

LET, Devs ... then Frog, now Walrus... its like the original team is being deleted by agents of the system.

When you say "overseeing", exactly in what capacity, who will be making important production decisions? From what you say that seems like it will be still you which is good to know and that Raijinn will be taking over the community role on the forums/website.

*wait seen you answer that as I typed this. Having you focus on production is great, and look forward to all the other things you have planned.

Good luck on your other job too Walrus!, and its been great to have you in the role you have been part of for such a long time.

Welcome back Raijinn and good luck in your new role Raijinn.

Let us not turn this into a peeing contest between each other. Some posts are now heading to the flame side of things and I will not have that. We all have the right to express ourselfs about what Walrus has said but we don't have the right to turn this into faction/player attacks.

So I will say this once, leave that crap out of this thread or we will take swift actions on your accounts.

DA, Im going to keep this short and sweet, and again, this is not a flame, but personal opinion.

You are correct in saying that I do not know exactly what you have done personally to fix things, via /bug or the "Champaigne Room".

I do know this though, when TCR came public you know what state it was in? It was a place where people would hang out and feel like "Cool kids". There was no bug reporting going on, it was just a bunch of "sup" and "Hey Raijin". If its changed since it went through the name change? Good. However I dont see how it could since the only member of the admin/dev team that was really posting in it was Raijin, and as a forum admin he didnt have a real means to getting anything posted there fast tracked to the team.

1. Yes, I realize that was flamebating, but, I was right willing to accept a forum warning for getting my point across.

2. You eared two FM-1500s, I didn't say *anything* about how you got them. I just simply said I didn't see many favortism posts come up like before after you guys got your FM-1500 Magnums. SMILEY

3. And do I *need* proof of the favortism posts you made? I could dig them up, I'm sure, searching "NightTrace" would find them rather quickly.

4. My posts are wild, but they're fun.

5. I will continue to post, kthxbai.

When it comes down to it, Mr. NightTrace, there's *always* going to be favortism, even if it isn't extremely apparantly or extremely based off of favortism. You remember Rarebit's post about the people who do things in live events to get 'em on /ignore? I can *almost* guarantee he'd rather setup a LE meeting with a group of experienced/respected RPers than a group of spammers. Is that favortism? Yes, however, everyone goes off of what they prefer.

You are one of the major reasons this community is one of, if not, the best in all MMO's. It's with conflicting sad and happy feelings that we see you go. Sadness because the community is losing one of thier own and happyness because we get to see one of your long-term goals be realized. Best of luck to you!

DA, thats great. However lets be honest, how many other forums are out there that have those problems fixed in a timely manner by their staff. And Sony Online Entertainment cant? In no way were Vitamin nor my own words ment to be a slight against you. But I am going to say again, in a spin on what Vitamin said. Forum bugs are great to have fixed, thats wonderful. And just because Raijin was able to fix some normal bugs in a rather -untimely- manner does not qualify him for a community managment posistion. if you refer to my original responce to what Walrus said, I beleive I posted some reasons that actually -disqualify- him.

Again, who cares? Report something about the combat bug or being able to switch from speed to land a special to power and gain the bonus from that. Get that fixed, and I'll pat you on the back.

Either way you cut it, it's a useless forum where nothing is being fixed and or addressed through it's mean. A forum that was initiated by Joel. Again, if you wish for links and quotes, I will be MORE than willing to provide them.

Last warning to drop the personal stuff and get back on topic guys. This is not the place to be having these conversations.

Walrus... I can say that you will be more than missed by the community, and we will definitely miss your infinte presence through participation on the boards and the weekly "Other Sides". Not to mention the sense of humor and good-natured and enthusiastic spirit about everything.

I've gotta back up Trace, though, and say that seeing Raijinn around more often and in a more commanding role is not something I'm interested in. I don't think anything's going to change this fact, though, so I'll deal with it as long as he has learned his lesson about sending unnecessary system messages during LESIG events.

Good luck, Walrus - I wish you well in all of your endeavors, and thank you for the great deal of work and creativity you have put into this game (and hopefully will continue to!)

Please stop the flaming folks.

To answer some of the questions: Raijinn's main tasks are on PlanetSide and MxO, with some helping out on Pirates. He's not jumping into all games anymore--he's all official 'n' stuff.

Er...what was the other one...edit coming in a sec....

Meh, can't find it. But I did find another one: Yes, I intend to keep my nomiker in the new game.

Congrats on the promotion, Walrus!  It's a pity that a thread celebrating your new position has to be tainted with such angst.  Great job everyone!

Regardless, we should still have a party!
