Hi Walrus I know this is a long shoot well acually a really long shot
but i figured i give it a shot my name is Shermi from The SIrens.
Way
back in beta we had a party to raise cancer aware ness i am not sure if
you remember you came to the party and also send an let as flood. We
were really touched by that gesture.
It was for one of our own Scorpia
she had an brain cancer and that is why we did the party ok well this
is my idea i am not sure if it is possible cause i know you all don't
like doing special favor wich show favoratisim lol sorry for the
spelling
Scorpia condition was terminal and as far as we heard I belive she passed on.
The
request that i have is this there is an npc a mission contact that was
in the club duality in appolon named raini she has the same look,
outfit and body shape as Scorpia's Ris i belive that she must have allways got a kick out of that.
I was going to put in a petition to see if it could be renamed from Rainie to Scorpia and ofcourse not put Sirens tag on it cause i don't want the hole community to say you all are playing favorites.
Like
i said i don't know if this is possible if it will even matter to send
in a petition to soe i know you all are very bussy and maybe i should
wait until later to ask or to even ask.
Just a question to honor
a player that help out in beta, the sirens and the hole mxo community
after all she won the first ever best dressed rsi in a community run
event .
Well that is all if you have time to read this and let
me know if this is at all possible in even 1% chance of getting this
looked at i will submite a petition.
Thanks for your time and your hard work on the game.
thanks

simple as. Get it done!
Scorpia was a great friend to me, and all of the Sirens. It amazed me
how positive she was, even in the face of her health. She was never
negative, bitter, or any of that. As of this point, we don't know if
she is still with us, and we can't get in contact with her or her
family, but either way - Shermi's idea sounds wonderful, and it makes
me happy to think that she couldbe honored, and leave her mark on a
game that she loved.
Thank you to all who have signed so far.
it would really show the community player-dev relationship if it was
somehow done. maybe a hardline named after her? or a monument?
Definetely....everyone send this post in a CCR
petitioning this, although such a good idea, would be like forcing them to do it, juat asking is the nicest way.
feedback & suggestions folks. :smileyhappy:

am assuming that she is no longer with us. I never met her but if she
really did touch that many peoples lives than a minor change to the
game as a form of honoring her wouldnt be to much to ask for.
A friend of mine from the Halo community was immortalized by having his voice in a cutscene in every Bungie title since Halo (yeah, I know that's only 2 so far, but they swore they would keep doing it).
He lost his battle with Ewing's Sarcoma the morning after Valentine's Day. We all knew him as the defender of <3. Read more about his and his family's battle here.
I really think this would be a good thing...
But in order for this to happen someone of importance will have to read
this of course, and since walrus left for vacation we can all easily
see how much interaction we can expect from dev's and other influencial
people here...
and I also think the "Dev Tracker" function should be renamed, something like "Odobenus rosmarus Tracker" cause thats what it really seems to be...

Even though I never knew Scropia. I am amazed at this story because a lot of people these daays are extremely negative and to be positive in the face of such an illness requires the greatest of hearts.
she and I had a complex relationship but one I cherish and hold dear. I
miss her terribly since she decided to take a break from MxO and was
not heard from again. Repeated requests for information from her
husband have gone unasnwered, leading me to believe that she has passed
away and he is busy grieving for his wife.
Even thinking about her after these past few months makes me start to
tear up. The pain of losing her is still fresh and the uncertainty of
her fate makes it worse.
This is no an unprecedented request in the MMO community. Sony has
honored several of their fallen guides with persistant NPCs in CSHome,
the Guide zone on EQ, each tells the story of the guide and of their
passing, it is a very touching tribute that brought tears to my eyes, a
total stranger to the fallen ones.
Cryptic Studios honored a veteran beta tester of City of Heroes
who was killed shortly after release when , if a I recall correctly, he
was hit by a drunk driver.
I was part of the effort to place at the very least a memorial statue
of him in Paragon City, no matter how small and insignificant. They
upped the bar and placed his avatar in the tutorial zone as the
final contact before you enter the city. Every new player who joins
that game meets Coyote before he sends them off to protect the city.
Scorpia was a dedicated player, she played daily, even on some days
when she was too sick to get out of bed. Yet in speaking to her and
spending time with her you would never know she was sick. She was
always willing to listen to your problems and be a shoulder to lean on
when you needed it. She never told you that she was too tired or
too sick to talk, she would even appologize for needing to take a nap
to get her strength back.
In short Scorpia was the epitome of the Sirens, class, grace and a
caring nature. And she was a fantastic member of this community, always
willing to lend a hand, even to complete strangers.

I can see from all the Sirens who
have posted on this Thread that Scorpia had made quite an Impact on you
all & is a real loss to your Faction that seems more of a Family
bond, instead of just random Players in a Game.
I can also
one again see the Love & Compassion from our whole Community, in
coming together in such a way... all for what seems like such a
Small Simple Request to the Devs.
The ppl posting here
know a good cause when they see it & know it's the right thing to
do... Let's all just hope that SOE see it the same way & do
what’s right
"Scorpia" - Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it...

I can't think of a better or more appropriate way to honor individual
players. I don't know how simple it would be to change Raini's name in
the game, but I know it would be easy to change her name on my MxO
Archive maps.
I never knew her. . .wish I had the chance to meet her at least after reading posts from those that did. I would have replied sooner but I was having a problem signing in. I think I first saw this thread when it was like three pages or so. I doubt we'll see any in-game memorial type thing after reading Walrus post. What I will say is that this entire thread is one hell of a memorial to Scorpia. May it not be moved, locked, hidden or deleted. May it remain here so all of the community can read it and express any thoughts or feelings they wish, to truly get to know one another and the Sirens.
I suffer from a broken heart upon kicking or loosing a crew/fac member to another or if someone decides to jack out forever alone. This thread has both broken my heart, made me cry as I reply and made me feel wonderful all at the same time. Having never met or known you Scorpia, my sadness is doubled.
My happiness is also doubled. After reading all of these posts including the simple /sign ones. I love you all! That being said, I am changing the way I play this game for many reasons, Scorpia being one of them in a big way.
I have three characters on Recursion. Praey lvl 50, Praey2 lvl 21 and Praey3 lv 8. (Stop laughing!) I gave them the same name first, so that players I know will recognize me and yes they all look the same. Praey lvl 50 is Zion. Praey2 will be Merovingian and Praey3 Machine. This way I can help all new Redpills. It is also because that is just how I would be in real life. I could go on and on and I know that I may not have anyone want me in their crew or faction because they are worried I'm some sort of spy or something but so be it. If I must go this alone, I will. This way I can honor her in-game without having to ask for anything from anyone. Scorpia was a big, positive help to those around her according to those that knew her.
I am doing this firstly because it's just the kind of person I am and secondly, in honor of Scorpia and every single true hero (of all types), our world has known or not known. Also in honor of a public/high school friend who lost the battle with bone cancer at 17. Sadly that was 11 years ago and my friend David Barns didn't live long enough to enjoy the Matrix universe, although I'm sure he would have loved it! David was just like Scorpia according to previous posts by those who knew her. Almost always positive and understanding and helpful.
People like you Scorpia, are an inspiration to us all. I am sure you are in a place that is full of love, happiness and plenty of laughter! Know that those both close to you and far away miss you, love you and that you live on in all their memories all over the world.

A tragic event unfolds everyday and many got unnoticed and unjustly so. I did not know Scorpia but I am sure that if she were here today she would be as bright a light in these dark times. I would imagine that she would be running around the Matrix helping all manor of people from all organisations. If there is a God I believe that she would've somehow left an inprint in the game which she loved, maybe the NPC change would be a justly tribute to a tragic hero.
May your spirit rest in peace with all those who like yourself were taken from us at their prime. (In memory of Chungo who tragically died of Asthma aged 20.)

I never knew her but as I hear she was an excellent addition to The Matrix Online communtiy, and I have seen her name pop in in many positive ways over the past. My thoughts are with everybody who has to go through these things.
A monument of any kind would be great. An eternal mark of what she has contributed to the Matrix Online Community.

Thank you walrus, that was very touching and beautiful, and very true!

Sadly, it is a matter of policy that we cannot memorialize players in game . . .
But there is nothing to say that we can't. Perhaps the Sirens can name one of their Hovercraft after her? Perhaps those that knew her and her mannerisms well could refer to a certain sequence of attacks the 'Scorpia Manuver' and spread it throughout the community? Perhaps we can refer to a certain unnamed area of the city Scorpia Square/Place/Plaza? Any other suggestions?

You know what, this is a great idea! Someone who was close to
Scorpia should tell us which discipline she prefered. Then the
community would submit attack sequences to be voted the honor of being
named "Scorpia Maneuver".

whether or not SOE can or cannot , as a matter of policy, implement a memorial is merely a side issue, please dont stop posting your messages of condolance and respect for scorpia.
there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. it is beautiful thing that the cummunity have responded as they have. please don't let a few disrespectful people ruin that for everyone.
besides , even though walrus said, SOE cannot unfortunately memorialise individual players, other constructive ideas have still been put forward on this thread, to help us remember somebody who was obviously very special.
i like the idea of a global memorial. not to an individual player, but to the community as a whole, to all who have lost loved community members. im sure scorpia would want that.
perhaps something as simple as a single everburning candle in the church in mara C and a poem written on the table next to it.
by Johnna Marie Puckett
Your candle burned out long before I had the chance to say good-bye
An angel came and taught you how to fly
But the question still rages in my mind... why?
Why did you have to die?
You were the girl who was always kind, inspiring, and shy
Your death was known to make even those who didn't know you cry
You held the faith even when I didn't have the courage to
I always knew I could trust in you
But now you look down at us from cloud nine
And the final tear is mine
A tear, resembling that I still feel your flame burning bright
A tear, because now I know you're alright
I will always be warmed by a piece of your fire
Because you are my hero, the one I admire
