guys you gotta start reading posts it aint gonna happen, a policy was made before beta opened not to have memorials, pity but understandable, perhaps a memorial event is in order, Sirens just let us know when and where, and admins make sure the area can hold the heavy traffic. Perhaps a fight club with some main characters ? Now that would be memorable and make her part of mxo history.

MXO - Remembrance of Scorpia (The Sirens)

I don't know Scorpia, but I know, that tears run down over my cheeks, after reading this thread. I try to imagine as it feel for all you "Sirens", to lost a so lovely friend.

Where ever she is, she is somewhere in the code of this game too. As dev I would create a cemetery in the matrix without any names, only a cemetery with different gravestones. "The Sirens" self can choose which grave belongs to "Scorpia" and you can visit this place when ever you feel its good for you. I know its not so big like the idea with this monument or the 'contact' Raini, but a cemetery is not so bound to only one user, I know we will lose more wonderful people in the next time.

Thanks

It would be a rather nice thing if the devs complied with this
petition. After all this game is all of ours. And it was hers too.

#34400000163 09/20/2005 08:22:07 Re: Remembrance of Scorpia

Wow, where to begin,  I think I can speak for The Sirens in general when I say a sincere thank you to all the community for your support on this.

As one of the newer members of the faction I never had the pleasure of meeting Scorpia but by the things that have been said here, the love and support that has been shown by the community and the history I have been given by The Sirens that knew her I too now feel that I know something about the the quality of a person Scorpia was.

I understand and respect the reasons why this could not be accomodated by SOE and Walrus your words of condolence mean a lot.  The support that has been shown in this thread has proven that there are some things still left in this world that transend Organizations/Factions and petty rivalries.

Thank you to the players of The Matrix Online, you have helped to restore one players faith in the community that exists around us.

It's really sad to say I never got to know her. I remember seeing Scorpia around on the old Method, and felt that there was some sort of golden ora around her. She helped found two great factions and more importantly was a great friend to so many people. Wherever she is now I'm sure she's in a much better place.

/sign,

"The Alliance" show our condolence to the Faction of the fallen Beta player "Scorpia." We have all dealt with loss in our own lives, and nothing hurts worst then when its one of our own.No, I didn’tknow Scorpia, but I know loss and if there is anyway to honor "Scorpia" than lets make this happen.I have never been apart of a community such as this before, where people care and sort of get involved with the players behind the mask. This is good because it lets you know that yes this is a game, but underneath it all their are real people with real feelings.

#34400000173 09/26/2005 09:44:50 Re: Remembrance of Scorpia
As Cognoscente says SOE and the MxO Team's policy is not to create
memorials (read the link in his post) however Walruses kind words and
the fond memories of fellow players to Scorpia lead me to believe she
was a great person and will be sorely missed.

R.I.P. Scorpia and may God be with you, wherever you are

I think everyone in MxO becomes the swiss army knife sooner or later, just as I am.

When the post comes across to the effect of her fav disc you can count on it comeing through in the mouths of the Vishnu crew.

#34400000175 09/29/2005 14:35:24 Re: Remembrance of Scorpia
Words cannot express the seepest, and fullest sympathy we as a
collective can feel for somone.  The only thing we can do is vow
to make it better.  I remember attending the Sin City party, I was
probably a level 25 then, and I can only believe that with Scorpia
being surrounded by such wonderful people as the Sirens, it is a great
loss to the whole community.  I know people say it just to pay
their respects, but it is very saddening to see a great player and a
wonderful person pass on.  However saddened we may be, I can
invision a vast area of land, with crisp green tree's, beautiful
flowers, clear blue skies, a wonderful group of people, and Scorpia
laughing and having a wonderful time.....You will be missed......If
there is anything my faction or myself can do please pm me on here, or
my aim mjw260.

it is really cool when a community comes together like this I have noticed that naming an npc after her another idea maybe a billboard so she will allways be looking over us. Well I just thought I would put that idea out there. But as I said I am new.

Im sorry SoE is a bunch of up tight bastards. I can't believe something so requested by the community, something that would not affect anyone but in a positive light, is ignored.

Sorry SoE, you suck. Period.
#34400000181 10/03/2005 00:47:06 Re: Remembrance of Scorpia

seriously ppl, stop saying 'we shouldnt post about this, SOE will do nothing'. have some respect and let people express their wishes.

and yes SOE did say they wouldnt memorialise specific players, so what argument do u have against a general memorial. doesnt break SOE's precious Terms n conditions, and still provides somewhere ppl can pay respects to loved members of the community.

Wow ... what to say that hasn't been said. Cancer is such an insidious illness / disease.

I lost my father to cancer, and my wife lost her father to cancer. I would not trade one minute of the final two weeks I spent caring for my Dad, as my sisters and brother and I took "rotations" at the family home caring for and tending to his final needs. It was the hardest thing I have ever faced in my life, to see this once strong man slip into barely a resemblance of his former self. Again, I would never take it back. I owed him that much, at least. :smileysad:

I think I remember hearing of Scorpia or perhaps seeing her on the old Beta boards back in the Day. I did not know her or her avatar personally, but I absolutely understand that she has touched many, many lives. Look at the tribute this thread has become to her memory!

I hope that Sony and those powers-that-be can honor a fallen hero.

I am honored to add my /sign to those before me.

You know... content just seems to slip into the game sometimes (i.e. Zen master... mobius)... perhaps a scorpia NPC could too ... it wouldn't really need to be the contact in the club... I doubt SOE plays this game... no one would really know ... just some thoughts...

i read this a while ago, when i first started on this game, i have to say that just for you bringing this up and putting it here as a suggestion shows that you did care, a lot, and stuff like that hasn't happened as often lately, nor have i really ever seen any kind of a request like this before, so i do have to jump on this and say i vote for them to do whatever it takes to drop the appearance/likeness/name/or etc.. of our fallen comrade into the game.

This is why arguments happen in the first place, I bet maybe a tenth of
the people that have signed after Walrus posted actually read that they
can't.

#34400000203 11/05/2005 11:38:00 Re: Remembrance of Scorpia

Wow, it certainly has been a LONG time since I've even thought of visiting these boards lol. But let's move to why I'm posting here...

As much as I'm sure it would make me, and my Sirens happy to see some kind of memorial, I understand and respect the choice as stated by Walrus.

Scorpia was, and forever will be, one of the founding members of the Sirens when we first reorganized last year after the 'Nimbus' dynasty. I remember her for her fashion sense, willingness to help just about everyone, and occasionally have a sharp toungue from time to time lol. (She ALWAYS spoke her mind... one of the best qualities I look for in a potential.)

When we, The Sirens, brought up to the GM's, we weren't expecting the response we had gotten. However, I know it made her VERY happy what some of the GM's did for her. Considering that there's sometimes not a lot you can do in an electronic family, it was a very nice gesture both on Monolith's, and Awakened Radio's behalf. I will always remember that day as one of my BEST experiences in the game.

As stated before, some kind of monument/memorial would be nice, but what I would really like from this, and any other, gaming community to do, is to donate to the American Cancer Institute. $1 may not seem like a lot, but if it comes from thosands of players, it can really have a difference!

Thank you all for your very kind words,

The Lady Kayaus, Leader of The Sirens' Islands
