Yeah what Q said, 100 million is kinda pushing it for some people. Mind making it around 50 mil?
#1040014523206/10/2006 23:17:21Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
I'm probaly among the poor vets, with about 10 mil to my name. I still support it being 100 mil. I should be HARD to get to the White Halls. It should be a reward for going above and beyond the call of duty for your Org.
Yeah,
there are people who will be able to buy it as soon as it comes out,
but for us normal Joes, it'll be a challenge. (And if the mission
archive comes out with it, I'll be grinding anyway.)

No. The key will lead to a door. Going through the door will transport you to the white hallways. Entering a certain one of the doors inside the hallways will transport you to the mission area.
Once in the mission area, if you turn around and go back out the door into the hallway, you'll find yourself back in the white hallways, and from there you can take the exit door back to the city, if you want.

That's awesome!
Would the Ascension Monument be one of those doors, or will we just have to wait and see?

I thought about it, but decided against it for a number of reasons:
1) I wasn't sure it would work with an exterior door like that, and it would have taken a lot of extra time to find out--actually I'm not even sure that door is a separate door object, or just a solid part of the monument's facade, in which case I definitely couldn't replace it anyway.
2) Paul has mentioned possible other uses for that monument in the past, and I didn't want to do something that could conflict with anything he wants to come up with for it.
3) Doors in Richland/Westview can only lead to Zion hallway areas, and I didn't want to imply an association between Zion and the monument.

The Merovingian areas (there are about five or six different floorplans per org) are called "Merovingian Palace" in the mission design tool. They're pretty much large sprawling mission areas (fairly standard room and hall shapes) done up in a posh chateau-esque style. I'll be surprised if Walrus is able to resist leaking out a screenshot or two at some point.

lolz if only we stand a chance one on one with agents someday that'd be cool.
lah lah lah summers here XD well if that one has been answered before theres always this question
So are you guys ever planning to expand?
like say in Asia [Hong Kong] specifically cause I'm from Hong Kong myself and honestly that place is like Online Game gold mine. Everytime I go back theres this online / Cyber cafe I go to [which HK is FILLED with them], and they kindly let me install MxO on their since the workers are my friends. They've always been wondering when it's going to be marketed there or if it's ever being planned for.

Is there a concise list of what a given reputation level means? I know that you need a certain rep to start a crew, a certain rep to run the criticals etc etc. Can someone post a table of some sort?

What are the chances of another Ability Buy Back happening for those of us unlucky enough to be Away From MxO when the Buy Back was announced?
Tks.
Also, what about what Faction Rep REALLY means?
#1040015030707/11/2006 16:02:58Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
Judging from the previous mission system debacle, you need...
not to take advantage of object oriented programming
never use comments
obfuscation
and the time old method of sit and code (no design and analysis whatsoever, sit down and start coding)
Which could have it's benefits, for a small company that didn't want to pay for a new system it would guarantee you job security because you're the only one that can understand what was coded. That kinda didn't work out in this case. :smileysad:
It also would tell me that not everyone has a degree in a programming related field.
*points to self* Graduating in spring with a CS degree. I will work for peanuts and sleep under the desk. I comment my code. :smileyvery-happy:
EDIT> Liberal arts!?!? To be a developer? I'm wasting my **bleep** time. I better get hired when I graduate. :smileyvery-happy:

Should we expect a delay in update 45? Or is it still on schedule for the 13th?

vivi44 wrote: Rarebit how much General experiance does it take to become a developer in a game like this? Like years of school and such I'm refering too, then you know the whole application process. What exactly do you need to know and have?
I've answered that before, I think (search for posts by me with "college" in them, maybe). It varies by position... For a design job you usually either have to know someone, or to have worked on another project as a designer, or to have worked in some other aspect of the industry, probably with the same people you're trying to get in with as a designer. I was a QA Lead at Monolith for years before getting into design, for instance. I have a BA in Art & Design, but that wasn't really a big part of me getting these jobs, as far as I know, except that I learned to write pretty decently in college.
EDIT: By the way, cloudwol can start rubbing it in, because clearly there are way too many objects to throw into the poor Item vendors, so I'll have to make and place a new vendor type. Always complications...

Quests. At the moment I'm adding a bunch of "ordinary" items to I think Item vendors--stuff like "Data Disk," "Dead Blow Flies," etc. They don't do anything, but you can use them for RP, gag gifts, who knows.
Sounds intriguing... I'm wondering if it'd be possible to give us an option to rename the items so if it's needed for a Player Event someone can't just go and buy a 'Data Disk' at a vendor or something.
/shrug
But that is very cool, Rarebit, thank you.

After reading about the mission system, it sounds that really to be able to do anything new with it you would have to start from scratch.... that said, has the team ever considered doing that? Basicly throwing the current mission system into the trash bin and introducing a new mission system, aka MS 2.0 (Mission System 2).

hiya Rarebit
well 1015 pages and a broken search function leads me here
i'll keep it simple with a simple explanation of why.
question: wot is the exact radius of the /who function
why: well i've been on a hostile world since preorder *enum>vector and we luved to be able to hunt ppl down and finish 'contracts' for ppl ...then you took away /addwaypoint *charname* and whilst that sucked we learned to deal. Now since you took away the yellow glow from hyperspeed its had to tell when ppl are around *just on the border of your vision the HS animation would light like a globe lettting us know someone is around.
so anywho all we have left to hunt ppl are our wits, info on the target and /who or /who *charname i've nevere been able to triangulate and get he exact radius so i was hoping you could shed some light thanks, DrSmith
