Well I figured it was better to ask then to not say anything at all considering I won't waste 15 bucks a month anymore to stand around and have nothing to do (even if it was mentioned in old threads about price cuts).  So we had good things to look forward to like events, new content once in awhile, Now that we have nothing anymore why and how is $15 dollar's a month justified for the Matrix? (question is mainly directed for SOE but anyone is welcome to have their input).

If there is absolutely no chance of us getting a dev or a small scale events team (interns or former devs), then I'd agree that a price cut would be in order.  Maybe that would get more new players to stick around longer than the trial, and at least we can have populated servers.

#36300552896 04/02/2009 16:17:45 Re:MXO- $5 bucks a month

In these economic times... I can honestly say... that probably won't happen.

#36300552899 04/02/2009 16:26:25 Re:MXO- $5 bucks a month
Well that's pretty rough. I could probably swing $5 a month but at $15 i've had to suspend play until I can afford payments again.
#36300552906 04/02/2009 17:24:40 Re:MXO- $5 bucks a month

agreed, it should be down to $5/month since theres nothin to do in the matrix =\

Well,  it's always good to have hopes because this community is unique and A smart bunch of ppl and I'm glad I was part of it. Brain storming the storyline was alot of fun and it is good for the relaxing times after being in work all day. Being around here made me forget the rough times in the real and focus on the fun times in the Matrix and i'm thankful for that.

True,   some redpills could have something to work at for awhile but for some players like myself (thats been around for 4 years) and got a 50 on each server and got most all the stuff on each character there, I don't have much to look forward to anymore hate to say,  sorry to sound negitive here but The Matrix is the most fun I've ever had in a game.... nothing else like it will ever compare to it again and I hope the tides change for the better. (it's a long shot but you never know).

Ok, how about 1/2 the price to $7.99 a month then... SOE has enough players for all their other game titles to make their ends meet and still do well, seems fair to me.

I just wish they would lower the price when it was good times

$5 a month is still a ripoff for this MMO, when you consider that free to play MMOs get more love from their developers than we do from ours.

#36300552974 04/03/2009 07:10:04 Re:MXO- $5 bucks a month

A lower fee or free to play would be amazing. Older players would come back, new ones would try it out.

Just a pity SoE will never do it

To be fair, it should be free, and then they should charge you for stuff like Changing your handle, or Transfering Servers, or Transfering info across servers, Then they'd still make money but have a lot of players also, like what are they spending the money on now i'd love to know....

I think their spending the money on Virrago and 9mm, don't get me wrong though those 2 do A good job with what they have to work wih but it still should be 1/2 price since we lost 1/2 the fun. (or is it more then 1/2..hmm)

In these economic times, more than ever, wouldn't it be better to lower the price in order to make the game more affordable to people?

#36300552985 04/03/2009 08:44:00 Re:MXO- $5 bucks a month

I'm always on Syn (even though I got another 50 =) ) but I'm never bored on Vector honestly.. if the pvp goes into a halt I search for new players or I run a contact mission (I have saved those for times where it's dull but stil haven't done like.. half of them)... and then I just ... are there SMILEY and new players do take a lot of time to help so that's what's nice to do. Then there's some rp to catch up on or some char that looks interesting then I ask about who they are and what they thought of the char and some such.. maybe I do a short event (if it isn't ganked SMILEY) it's about being creative, granted. We don't get spoonfed events anymore but that's not to say there's nothing to do.

You shouldn't use economy as an excuse, Virrago.  Especially when in these 'hard economic times', videogame and MMO sales are actually on the rise.  If SOE's not getting a piece of that pie, then maybe SOE needs to sit back and wonder why.  Poor treatment of small communities can still have a large impact on your overall success.

Good point about the possible disruption caused by the other games, however the latter part of your sentence (in bold), quite frankly I personally find to be extremely obnoxious.  With all due respect it strikes me as the equivalent of flipping everyone the middle finger and yelling at us to Sierra Tango Foxtrot Uniform everytime someone posts something that is not 100% positive or complimentary about MxO/SOE.  But thats just my opinion.  "Love it or leave it."  Umm no...there's a vast middle ground between being needlessly and destructively negative and being a blind unquestioning total loyalist no matter what.

I'm not using it as an excuse...I'm just stating that I personally see very very very little chance of any price changes to the subscription fee.

You've been getting the middle finger from SOE for years, im not a fan of SOE myself but the enjoyment i still get from the game remains, certain members of my home servers community and PvP make up my enjoyment of the game, i'm sorry if your poorly developed recycled content is gone, and your storyline is gone, but complaining over and over doesnt really do anything, i mean look at certain websites about SWG's NGE it happened what 4-5 years ago? they didnt care about pleasing the players then they certainly don't now.

Your options are to play a game that makes you miserable or unsubscribe and save yourself the money, because nothing is going to happen anytime soon if at all.

You know, I just thought of something.  Isn't The agency going to free a far as a monthly fee goes, or on some other non-traditional (for SOE) pay to play model?  If that's going to be the case, then why can't MxO switch to that kind of model down the road?

I do think a small price cut is in order, I am GBP currency and the price is getting close to what I pay a Moneth for my 8mb internet connection and wireless with the state of the 'economy' a reduction or a cut should be actioned.

In my opinion seing as we are still paying the same as we did for the DEV team and events we should get them and seing as we dont.... We should pay that fee.

Guildwars is a free to play game and is currently developing another free to play title Guild wars 2...

My personal opinion free or cheaper is the way to go.

Yes but if there is to be no more MxO content and/or develpment forevermore, lets assume 80% of the population is gone after 6 months.  Then wouldn't the game be in a worse state revenue-wise than if the price was cut somewhat as an incentive for not only vets to stay, but even possibly new players to join at that lower price?   I mean SOE is gonna take a hit either way.  I just think doing nothing and keeping the current price the same will be fatal, maybe not if creative pricing or creative revenue generation is implemented somehow.

In these economic times................I can honestly ask.

Why dont any of you take a little bit of initiative, and try and find some of the old Monolith people, you know, the ones that created this? And ask them how they are fairing, and if they would like to once more become a part of the MxO family?

I mean, at least ONE of them is out of work and struggling, and might actually take you up on the idea. Then, you walk them softly into SOE HQ, and scream "WE ARE STILL HERE!!!!!", "now can you give this MF a job?"

Its at least worth a try, unless, the dream has left you as well.

Pill.

Hey there!

Well 15 $ in a month would be great. In Germany I must pay 14,94 € every month.

I just converted the 14,94 € in $ and it´s :

14,94 € = 20,15 US $

I really don´t know, why german people must pay more for this game. Because I think this would be really fair:

15,00 $ = 11,12 €

With no active devs, and no new content on the horizon... MXO should simply be a free to play game like infantry online, cosmic rift, and tanarus. At least when I sub my SWG account I know that Im paying for continued development, I cant really say I feel the same for the $15 that I just paid to resub for this month.

At least if the game was free to play you'd see some more of the vet players come back and play from time to time to check things out.

Sure I'd love a price cut but at what price would this price cut be? I'm not at the point where I'm ready to yank my sub, however if these 'economic times' get really bad I may have no choice but to cut discressionary spending for a while.

But so far & pbbly b/c  I havent been playing that long, I haven't done all the neighborhood contact missions nor have done the all the archieve missions of all 3 orgs. Sure I miss the stuff that went on B4 when I was starting out - the stuff that made MxO extra special.

But I did start running with my Vector RSI & its been a blast learning almost all over again (like always be aware of your surroundings while even just farming Red Frags in Historic lest you allow Synapze777 to 'smite' you ) . One's pulse does quicken as you are either closing in for a kill or trying to flee from one - so far that's still fun even if the killing or fleeing were not that day successful - and worth the fee I still pay.

Don't get me wrong that's great...you've caught the essence of Vector right there, and I hope there's a mini-renaissance or uptick of people trying Vector.  Thats exactly why I feel I'm a better player for having come up on Vector back in the day.

Although even I am finally getting to the point where I have literally done everything, seen everything and have everything I could ever hope for, there's still some little things I might not have gotten round to and am looking forward to.   But the day will come when all is exausted even for you.  And people are no longer going to be able to justify an mmo with no content and no development at that price indefinately.

I wish SOE would do something, anything to incentivise us to stay.  Not to mention that I and many others are in danger of losing our jobs if the economy gets worse.  Then, the decision will be completely out of my hands, whether I want to sub or not, I wont even have that option.  If the price were brought down then I might be able to squeeze it in.  Because in a few months, it would be better to have five hundred subscribers at $5/month than 50 subscibers at $15 a month....
