Here we go..

I bought a new computer but i experience gaming problems ( lag ) on every single game.

System Specs:

Motherboard: Asus M2N-VM DVI AMD Socket AM2 Nvidia GeForce 7050 PV DDR2
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 6400+
Graphics Card: Ati Radeon HD 3650 256 MB
RAM Memory: 2 x 1 GB DDR2
Power Supply Unit: 400 Watt

And my dxdiag

I've returned the whole computer back to the shop and they replaced the motherboard and graphics card 2 times. I still have problems. We did a BIOS update to fix it but nothing. Suggestions?

Is the problem on every game or just every online game?

It wouldn't hurt to upgrade the power supply.

And your video card isn't very powerful. You want something like a Radeon HD 3850 or 3870.

Yes every game. I can't afford another card but i'm pretty sure that it should play Taz Wanted or Resident Evil 4.

Hate to ask the following...
1) did you build this yourself?
2) is your monitor plugged into the onboard, or the other card?
#36300470095 06/22/2008 23:37:50 Re:Problems
1) No.
2) Yes.

If you order a New computer and there is something obviously wrong with it, take it back again, it's not your job to fix.

If they are unable to provide you with a working system, ask for your money back, and go somewhere that can.

Bust down their shop door and say, "Fix mah rig, foo!"

They said that they can't give my money back because the parts are ok. Although i have the right to sue them for not cooperating but i don't know if i will.

In the UK we've got Statutory Rights that go on top of merchant guarantees:

'Statutory rights are controls placed into a contract by the government when anything is bought or sold. Acts such as the Sale of Goods Act 1979 fall within this category and concern issues such as quality and accuracy of description which are intended to protect the rights of buyers. So, for example, if you are buying food with a label saying "no artificial colours or flavorings" then you are entitled (according to your statutory rights) to expect a product that fits that description.'

Basically if an item does not perform how it is intended, without outside interference, within it's expected lifetime then you should be able to, by law, take it back and get a replacement or refund. Even if the store says they have a 14 day return policy. Your PC, as a whole, does not work as intended even though the parts seem to work.

If you live in the UK, ask at any citizens advice for free help, they'll be able to tell you what you can do.  Hey it's gotta be worth a try!

I don't know what happens in the US, I'm sure there must be something similar, but it's remarkable how many people don't know about their own rights.

Ignorance.... pure and simple.

Anyway you don't need to take it that far yet. Just go into the shop and ask them to give you a refund if they say "no" then ask to see the manager and say if you don't get the whole computer replaced or a refund you'll take it up with trading standards. With those 2 words "Trading standards" the majority of managers will begin to **** themselves and they will probably either replace it completely or give you a refund, then you don't actually have to do anything generally they'll do it with no fuss but if they still refuse then it's obviously something that you'll have to take up with Trading standards.

Oh yeah, my example was something of a penultimate resort, prior to legal action. Denary is right, the best approach is exactly as he says take it step by step and you should get a result.

After all that, I really think you need to upgrade the power supply, it doesn't have enough watts. I have had a problem like this before and an upgraded power supply fixed it.

Had a feeling you didn't, just thought that the country in which you do reside would have something along the same lines. Yeah, ask to talk to the manager. You sound quite savvy about these things and I don't want to insult your intelligence but before anything like returning the unit make sure that you put in the original PSU in as supplied. Some companies have a clause in their purchase agreements that if an item has been modified by the purchaser then you have accepted the item and they are under no commitment to fix it etc... Trading standards or it's equivalent may not be able to help then.

It's video lag and yes i've tried adjusting the settings. The game starts with 70 fps and suddenly for 7 seconds it falls to 3 fps. I can't move the mouse too.

Ok. I took the pc back to the shop. They said that they'll replace my MOTHERBOARD and not the processor because it's really good. They'll put on another ASUS Motherboard.

Old Motherboard: M2N - VM DVI

New Motherboard: M3A-H/HDMI

They are sure that it'll work and i hope it does. Please check out the motherboard and let me know what you think.

On the ASUS Support Site it says that this was build to support the 6400+ AMD processors because the other models didn't.

^_^ Thanks.

Nah. It appears that M2N-DVI doesn't support AMD Athlon 64 x2 6400+. It supports every processor till AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+. But the new motherboard M3A-H/HDMI supports the processor.

Well , they won't change the motherboard, because they don't care that it doesn't support that processor. They said: " You choose the parts. And it's your fault they don't work. We never recommend computer parts. " BUT! They'll make an exception this time and they'll try on a new graphics card. They'll make sure it works and they'll change the old one. Hopefully i'll have it till Friday.

Do you have ATI Catalyst software installed? if you do are you changing the brightness/contrast settings on that software or on the actual monitor.

I know! I've tried 3 times to upgrade my computer over 3 years and always something comes up.

But now i have good news. =D I re-installed Windows XP Pro SP3 32bit Edition and it still had the same brightness problem. But then it remembered something about my monitor. It just random turns White Balance off. So i checked the White Balance settings and i was right. Problem fixed. But i'll still post my DxDiag and MsInfo. Maybe there are more problems.
