#36300467954 06/16/2008 03:18:03 The PvP Stereotype Thread.
The PvP Stereotype Thread.

The Suicide Bomber - This guy has no concept of team play. He wades into a pack of reds solo while his team watch in horror.
The Jumper - This guy seeks refuge in the clouds the moment you look at him wrong. Don't attack him because he may have a cardiac arrest IRL.
The Mouth - This guy will gob off every chance they get, especially in 12 vs. 3 situations. Rarely well met, or seen as funny or cool by anyone but himself.
The Vendetta - This guy will ignore everyone else except you, generally because you've been The Mouth. Worth letting him get the kill to get him off your back.
The Lagger - This guy is lagging every time they lose a fight. If it wasn't for that lag spike, he would have beaten you easy. Right?
The T-Bagger - This guy makes a habit of removing their pants /mood shifty and sitting over your face. Expect he's taking screen shots for a future PvP thread.
The Meatshield - This guy is exactly that. Someone to take the hits away from you. If you're a new player expect to be treated like a meatshield.
The Sneak - This guy won't ever be seen until you're in Interlock and they appear and stagger throw or snipe you. My personal most hated steriotype.
The Spammer - This guy has a uber Trauma build and he knows it. However only brings it out in a 12 vs. 3. Also known as the PvP killer.
The Juggernaut - This guy is buffed up to the MAX. Often an MA who will 3 shot you and most of your team before you can kill him.
The Buffbot - This guy stands right next to the HL and creates Juggernauts. He refuses to flag and wears all IS regen gear. Is also a Leech.
The Lowbie - This guy flags amongst 50's at level 28. He's often a Jumper too, when he's caught and killed he may become the Cryer.
The Crier - This guy feels PvP is so unfair and wants you to know all about it. Ganking, Zerging, Pills, it could be anything but it's not fair and he's hard done by.
The Leech - This guy is AFK while you're PvPing. He's also close enough to rack up any CQ you get. If you replace him he claims he was just about to flag.
The 1 Tree - This guy refuses to unload which ever tree he's using and load Howitzer, despite the fact your team is outnumbered 4:1
The Right Hand - This guy is amazing to have around, he saves you all the time and you save him. Generally a class that works in tandem with yours.
The Nemisis - The guy is your PvP bane. He's your number 1 priority, his body laying at your feet is all you strive for. Beware though he is generally a God.
The God - This guy is simply an amazing PvPer. He's cool calm and collected at all times. He doesn't panic, he knows his trees and when to do what. (Comserv)
The Quitter - This guy will flag once and once only. As soon as he's dead he will excuse himself and exit stage left. May become a Crier also.
The Stacker - This guy seems undecided about which tree he wants to load while standing near a HL, then becomes very hard to hit. Hmmm..
The Lug - This guy is carrying every Luggable he can find. He's a wanna-be Juggernaught but can still be a PvP problem.
The G - This guy PvPs in RP gear (rofl..) and unless he's a God (unbuffed Roca FTW) he's almost a non issue on the battlefield.

Now I am positive I neglected some, so please if you know other stereotypes post them here in the same format.

#36300467984 06/16/2008 06:32:11 Re:The PvP Stereotype Thread.

The Self-Affirming Dancer: Will go up against multiple opponents and lose, recon, /dance4, and talk endlessly about how no one can fight them 1v1 due to being 'terrified'.  Grammatically woeful, and *CENSORED* proud of it.  Also known as 'The Self-Affirming /Target /Laugh Purveyor'

The ROFL'er: Every death must be followed by a ROFL/LOL/LMAO in area chat, because there's no way that zerg is killing their spirit/you never would have won if it wasn't for your buddies, and they want you to know.

The Secret Best Player Ever Seen: Every death must be followed by a "Hmm." or "Okkkkk."  Reconstruction comes after several minutes, as they attempt to figure out just how you exploited to beat them.  May result in them asking you veiled questions about your build/buffs/clothing.  Followed by:

The Serial CSR-Botherer: "I'm sick of your exploits."/"LOL stacks."/"YEAH, OK, 800DPS FOR AN EFK, THAT'S NORMALNNNNNNNNNNNGHHHHHHH."/"Beat me without 'sploits for once, LOL."

The Self-Exalting Delusional: Likes to think of themselves as a 'name' player, and therefore at the very apex of an invisible PvP and social hierarchy.  Upon attacking this individual, you've instantly thrown tactics out the window as all you're doing is expressing your love and adoration for them, or harbouring a desire for 'relations'.  "You really must love/want my male genitals, you derogatory and irresponsible term for homosexuals."

The Coward: Quite simply the representatives of the soft white underbelly of PvP.  Part 'The Jumper', all coward.  Runs at the first sign of anyone going near them (be it five or just one), their speedy exits a blur of whimpering surrender.  Justifies their actions by claiming that no one can kill them.  Their team quietly seethes as they're constantly left to die with one less player to combat the opposition.  Often completely devoid of tactical awareness.  Impressing no one.

The Sure Thing: Will only fight against, (and quite often duel) builds which they are statistically pre-disposed to winning against.  MKT vs Gunmen, for example.  Turns down duels with any other build, struts around Mara C in a mood when inevitably beating mostly full-time RP'ers.  Hides in sneak in PvP, returns to sneak the second Staggering has been dispatched.

The Hope: A rare breed.  Fights with a sense of honour, cares about the manner in which they conduct themselves, as they would off the game.  Doesn't use the oft-used "It's just the Internet,"  excuse to be a derriere, and rarely resorts to verbally expressing an inane hatred of their 'death-dealer'.  Knows the game, knows their trees and how to use/counter each one.  Successful in terms of PvP prowess, but not usually well-known as their CQ-counts don't necessarily govern their motivation, or erections.

I could quite possibly go on all day.

#36300467992 06/16/2008 07:03:52 Re:The PvP Stereotype Thread.
The Hypocrite: No matter what you do when you fight this individual you are a completely untalented loser for doing it. No matter what this individual does when they fight you they are an undeniable legend for doing so.

The Reminiscer: Will often get hammered in PvP then blame it completely on CR 2 and how it's so Random. When not PvPing will stand around Mara and praise the "Good ole' days" of CR 1. Often has a very high CQ count (No doubt mostly leeched/gained in CR 1), and will fall back to lauding that over you when they can't beat you, but it's all this new combat systems fault, it's so random they lose 9 times out of 10.

The Closet "Zionist": Never a member of the Zion organization, but loves to look down on Zion and talk down to all the players too, regardless of the fact that they exhibit all the symptoms (And often very extreme cases of them) that they pin on Zionists.
If you are reading this my sig didn't work T_T
#36300467995 06/16/2008 07:10:38 Re:The PvP Stereotype Thread.

The lone ranger - rarely on a pvp team, rarely needs the team to get kills or cqs.

The negotiator - always is "helping" someone of another org, gets annoyed if he's attacked by someone from the other org, responding with vibrant tells of "dood im helping u guys!!1!"

The dead eye - sitting in sneak at the otherside of mara, always snipes you at the worst possible time, often jumps if spotted.

Has anyone ever thought about how boring MxO would be without the Hyperjumping mechanic? It's annoying when someone bases their entire PvP strategy on the move, but I think that the mechanic itself makes PvP in MxO worth anything at all.

After dealing with it for so long, you're going to eventually find ways to counter the problem. Looking back on years and years of protest about hyperjumping in PvP, I'm dissapointed that we're not already past that point.

Well, if you are boring to be sniped, do like your organization, press the hyperjump button . Personnally, I stopped doing it three months ago. Sneak ability is more efficient to escape and strike back enemies. Plus it's pleasant to watch machine airshows from the bridge (I must admit, they own this subject).

I couldn't give a rats left nut if you jump or not. My comment about you originally was about you sniping me on a regular basis, and on one occasion telling me where you wanted to put your 'bullet'. Only the way it was phrased, I didn't know if you were talking about shooting me, or if you were flirting with me.

The Duelling Fan

This person will always shows up for PvP when there is mass PvP in play. Once flagged he will be treated to ganking from anyone (Flagged or Unflagged) Merovingian or Machine. Then stakes the claim that he/she can beat anyone who is flagged in a one or one duel but IF this occurs he usually gets beat down badly and then claim that he had:

  • No title buffs.
  • Wrong hyper.
  • Not statted for current load.
  • Mobius Code saved the duel!

Amongst other complaint he/she then proceeds to log off for the night but not before calling everyone cheats/stackers/nerds/losers and then wonders why earlier he/she got truce ganked for being annoying.

All in all people like this have most of Mara in stiches

the 'new loadout' whiner...

Someone who complains about not being able to hit anything, and when they're asked why they blame everything from a new loadout to a new set of clothes...

#36300527358 12/09/2008 09:21:05 Re:The PvP Stereotype Thread.

That doesn't really bother me too much, in fact the dps of the sneak attacks that get a spy into IL are ok too, it's just the general accuracy of an MKT, the power of their attacks from sneak which don't cause him/her to go into IL and some of the states on their abilities are too long imo.

It's all about priorities. If you can deal more damage from out of interlock compared to another class, then you stay out of interlock. If my teammate is a Hacker, another MKT, Rifleman, etc - I'll take point in interlock because it's more efficient.

There is nothing in the MKT doctrine that says that you have to jump, run, and play like a genuine pansy in order to get a kill.

Yeah they type of mkts are the worst. Spend ages trying to hunt them down, normally ends up on alot of hyper jumping. You get bored or they manage to sneak when your just a bit to far away, you continue pvpn and they staggering. Then its back to the sky until they can settle in sneak again.

everyone i know to have use MKT ot had a scrap agains do this tactic...this is what you do as a mkt. your not suppose to be going gun ho and trying to IL everyone.

only time you IL is when you trying to punt/suplex someone, then you finish them off

Wrong.

whats wrong about it?

anytime i've seen you as MKT, you root, try break sheild and do some pansy back flips and suplex...dont think i ever seen you break sheild to just straight IL someone.

"If that's so true, why do MKTs roll against me so easily in interlock without having to use a hybrid load?"

dont get me wrong, you can IL someone and prob just do as well, but it kinda takes the fun out of trying to punt someone into the sky

It's all about priorities. If you can deal more damage from out of interlock compared to another class, then you stay out of interlock. If my teammate is a Hacker, another MKT, Rifleman, etc - I'll take point in interlock because it's more efficient.

There is nothing in the MKT doctrine that says that you have to jump, run, and play like a genuine pansy in order to get a kill.

who said anything about a MKT doctrine ya pie...all i said its the tactic i see most from MKT's. serious, some ppl take it waaaay to serious

Totally.

It's the ONE-TRICK PWNYs that make the rest of the MKTs look bad as well as the "OMG U SHOT AT MEH/BROKE MAH SHIELD, CTRL+SPACE".  As an avid MKT player, I try to avoid those stereotypes at all costs.  There are many ways to kill a player outside of the norm and it's fun creating new techniques.  Sometimes they work, sometimes they fail.  Real MKTs stick to their knives no matter what.  The rest...just find another tree.

Beam me up Scotty!!1

This type of PvPer likes the comfort and security of stashing a recaller inside a nearby building.  At the moment they are attacked they are whisked away back to the Enterprise only to return later healed, re-buffed and ready to go where no man has gone before.  This type is very similar to the Houdini and Clean Getaway types in that while they do get away, it only serves to lighten the zerg every time.
