Image Retrieval - April 02, 2008

No one is asking for the uber rare items like the Assassin Mask or Burning Eye Trench.  We wouldn't have started asking for Mobius Code if it wasn't given out to trial players, but the fact that they were rewarded for playing the game and I wasn't... what makes their custom to this game any better than mine?

I have to say I dont think HJBeta is set 1, after collecting the Headless Shades, Industrial Hat and first set of Contact missions, you should be at level 10 and the normal HJ is literally more than you are allowed.  I suppose the HJ buff on the Seraphims make up for the weaker HJBeta but to be honest, I'd rather see that HJ Buff switched to the normal Jump buff.... but that is for another thread

Rarebit did say it's useful to some and not to others. I like it personally, but it's not primary content. I see it as a small inclusion.

This is Phase two so I take it we could have bigger to come.

Thought about that, even if you do get it you can't get the coat now.

CS refuses to make the trade, so about the only thing you could do is try Rarebit or Virrago.

And whats the matter Roukan? You don't like it now that those people who arrived in between Beta and Trials can now get what everyone else has? Why is that?

Not really, it's not they're fault they bought the game after the Beta and didn't wait for the trials. I did trial the game after Beta, but I didn't get the abs even though they're listed in my station account, now I can get what I should have got.

Why should people be punished for buying the game (not even trialing it first) during the time when the abilities weren't given out?

Oh it hardly matters anymore honestly; now it's making it fair for everyone, not just the ones that heard of the game before launch and/or new "lucky" trial people now. What about those who have been loyal to the game since launch, but weren't able to participate in Beta? Now it's fair, and everyone can quit complaining about not having it.

And yeah, I have HJB and Mobius already.

I never said punish them. Give them something else, I liked my little advantage, and they could have had their own instead of whine whine whine, they could have suggested something. It's not even the items, it's the principle. That if you rally enough people and *CENSORED* about something constantly, you'll get it in this game. Instead of using valuable production time to maybe think up some new items, they just rehash old crap. This same tactic was employed with various other things in the game. Interactive emotes with hostile players, /face, etc.

And who said I was angry. Yeesh, you people assume too much. It IS a game after all.

Lol, so you're saying those of us caught in the middle should have got shiney new abilities that only we should have that benefit us in different ways (else it would have been the same thing in a new wrapper). As for rallying around to get something in game, look at Mave and his boxersm probably the same thing about my sparkly top...

Rehashing old stuff saves time for the Dev's to think up new stuff for all of us.

Like I said, It would have been cool if the first were the gold shades, oh well poop happens...

After some thought, I have to say that I'm happy that other players can now get Mobius Code and HJB. 

Why, you ask? OMGWTFBBQ?!

Well I know that many of us hold these two skills as treasures acquired from times long ago.  They've evolved into a vet reward but truthfully they aren't and never really were.  Yes, they gave us an advantage in combat but that's really about it.  And while I'm being honest I think that's the very reason many were so opposed to giving it out to everyone.

But times change.  True, some of us have been here for a really long time and we feel we deserve a reward for that.  To give these two items to everyone diminishes that.  However, despite the fact that anyone can now get these items, we veterans must remember one thing that can never, ever change:

We've always had them.  We had them before anyone else.  We were given Mobius Code during a time when we had to face the Assassin head on in an epic server-crashing event that has become legendary as the last "real" live event in MxO history.

The playing field may be more even now but it can never change the experiences we had getting them our way and that's something more special to me than farming 40 sticks of gum.

So what now?  Will a "true" veteran reward ever surface?  Are we destined to only ever have unbuffed beta gear as a sign of lengthy service to the Matrix Online?  Who knows but I can tell you that the memories of jacking in for nearly 4 years now outweigh anything else.

All of these pieces of history are in my Code archive.  I can't use them in combat but they never loose stability or importance.  So let the rest of the community partake in the fun we've had having these 2 skills.  They certainly deserve something for their servitude as well.

Compare that and the Abilities today with all of the other good ideas that people thought should be in game or items people want... The female Agent suit was there already according to Rarebit, still Females only get that one suit top and sucks to them if they don't want to look like an Agent. I'd love more suits For women but unless Rarebit wants to retexture and recolour the Agent suit, we're not gettin any more.

1) If it does, based on this evidence it will be passed round to everyone else at some point.

2) Yes, give the veterans who weren't in Beta something for their efforts, but not those things which were given to Beta players.  This isn't a moan about recycled content - tha's another thing entirely.  What this is, s a voice of concern over a Beta item being given to everyone else, and for no good reason (that I can perceive).

Those things given to Beta players are also being given to new trial players. The outcry would never have happened if they were given something else like a unique piece of unbuffed trial clothing unobtainable anywhere else.

Declassify Hyper Jump 'Beta', give Beta players something equally as useful and I may be sated enough to indulge Garu's twisted fantasy.

Just once.  No cameras.

I very much doubt that any new abilities made now will be given to a specific set of players only... unless... Org abilities...

Which is where the tragedy lies, and therefore the injustice.  I share your doubts entirely.
