You should go to sleep ^_^

Please stop moaning about it, sure you wont be able to explore as easily, but we loved this when it came out at first and should be fantastic. Truthfully we have no proper area apart from constructs, now we do. I feel this is a wonderful idea, and if there was a merge in the future this was look after the pvpers.

I thought it was obvious... so I must be as awesome as Procurator... or even awesomner...No.

What I actually meant was that I noted it in this thread, along with an explanation that the seven proxies were here and not in the Mega City as other people had assumed.

People nowadays say "awesomesouce". And no, Proc ain't >_>So how does one claim to be even more than awesomesauce? Awesomesaucier?
There is some confusion about terminology taking place so I thought I would clear up some of it.
The term Construct simply refers to a computer generated environment, this means "any" environment. Technically speaking the entire matrix is a construct.
The term Archive means just that, something stored away.
In the case of the "current" existing Archive Constructs, these are meant to be stored portion of previous versions of the Matrix and they are set to flag you for PvP when you enter and as long as you are there, by design.
You will also please note if you go into the Org specific areas (note I didn't use either of the defined terms here) on Vector you are "still" flagged for pvp. Up shot is that the world rules for PvP are still in place even in the Org specific areas. And there is a Design and Technical reason for this which isn't likely to ever change.
An Org area is just like any other normal are of a District in the Matrix and follows the same PvP flagging rule used by your instance of the Matrix currently.
We return you now to your regularly scheduled discussion.

There's a reason why there's nowhere to sit in the other Archives (Yuki, WM, 01, etc), so why put places to sit in an area you don't need to lounge around in?

Thanks for the input though 9mmFu, but does that mean that Datamine will take on the same rules as the world thus on Syntax and Recursion we have to flag manually? If so, YAY!

Considering that this is also a construct we still have no 'proper area' on the 'carebear' servers. Hopefully over time (and 'phases'" /> there will be more incentive to go there apart from a possible FFA and datamining.
Don't worry you'll be able to explore the new area, but that it fun for what? a couple of hours at best?
The the fact that the area is FFA makes it sooo much more interesting and it will keep the new area fresh! It gives a chance for other orgs to battle when there are very little opposition on or at mara C.
The area is big enough for all of us.
And! Why would lower levels go there anyway? sure there is datamining but lower levels have all the other stuff in the city to enjoy (Pandoras Box, Archives Missions, Archive constructs, Fumigator quest etc...) I'm sure that Rarebit designed this area with top levels in mind. From looking at the spawn points it looks difficult for a low level player to make the huge jumps anyway.
Andddd! There is no way 'Proper' PvP can occur in 01 becuase of the org zones that people hide in, the fact that its huge and easy to run in, and there are NPC covering most of the map.
So stop moaning kthxbi
I'm very thankful for this top-down map. My 2 $i on this is that FFA-PVP is a really cool idea, and I like it. I would just like the option to opt-in for it. That, or have Pacification Zones located in a couple spots (Those benches for example). The problem is choice, and I would like to choose to PVP, like I do on Syntax already.
There's a reason why there's nowhere to sit in the other Archives (Yuki, WM, 01, etc), so why put places to sit in an area you don't need to lounge around in?
Technically speaking all Archive Constructs are Opt-In since you buy the book, equip it, stand in the effected area to be loaded into the Construct associated with the book you equiped.
So there is about 3 choices there at which point, for any of them, you could have chosen not to. That seems to be Opt-In from my perspective.

Or put simply...I think he meant that only in the Org Areas, not sure if he means all over the place.
Thanks for the input though 9mmFu, so I take it that means that Datamine will take on the same rules as the world thus on Syntax and Recursion we have to flag manually? If so, YAY!

I didn't state it as such, in fact I didn't say anything at all about the new area. I only stated how the system works "now" so it was clear.
Apparently I failed since you assumed I was saying something else.

- This will be a free-for-all PvP area. You can gank enemies and friendlies alike.
- You will enter the construct through your normal archivist with a book, or as someone else suggested, through the Construct section at a hardline.
- You will spawn randomly at one of the 7 proxies inside.
- You will be flagged PvP upon entering the area or upon tapping a data node. I think the former, because the 7 random proxies are probably there to help prevent spawn camping.
- Any level can enter, but at your own risk. In other words, don't show up unless you can protect yourself or you're with someone who can.
- Data mining will be increased ten fold.
- I'm not a big fan of PvP, especially the Archives, but this one is different. This is PvP with a purpose.
- This will be the most dangerous place in the game, but the rewards will be great. Greed is the name of the game.
- It looks like there are plenty of places to hide and data mine when you are alone, if you can get to them.
- Factions: You can finally claim a piece of real estate as your own, but it will be up to you to keep it. This may get better if/when the buildings are opened up.
- Data mining is actually worth something now. I need to get my abils back.
- What are you gonna do with all that info? Uber gear should be on the way.
Sephr is secrely Cadsuane. lol
---------^ Why does that guy turn into a girl when he looks over his right shoulder? =O

EDIT: oh and random entry points too? Sooooooooo awesome.
double edit: now that I've read all 11 pages...off of Rarebit's earlier comment in a different IR, the inside of buildings will not be done until after the next update due to dev time and stuff. That explains the Phase 1, and the restricted interior access. He still needs time to rip up the insides, which is why there might still be a random Bluepill or two in there. Due to the spreading of the proxies, I have a feeling that there might be pacification zones near them. The 10X mining yield is there because of the FFA threat. I don't think any data nodes will pop up near the proxies, probably.

I finally realised what the shape of the place was based off...
Hmmm... you may be right. =)

That can be arranged if you're on Syntax.

EDIT: btw I think I'm gonna level MKT for this construct...sneak is necessary without a doubt
I wonder what the difference between physical size and actual size means...lots of room for expansion?

Is there anyway you could replace the kinda worthless 01 map with something like this?Isn't the physical size the biggest value for the objects while the actual is inclusive empty space and the water around and all way up to sky?

Wow! Not sure what all the info means, but it's sure helping to balance out a day that's been a bit wearying! Please, please, let this come out with either the next update or the Anniversary Event...
BOO CONSTRUCT.
YAY CONTENT.
On a side note, now that we know it's a construct we know there won't be collectors, side missions or a lot of additional factors, but i hope somekind of new enemies come in to play with something new to farm.

Hopefully SOE realizes that this addition would be something to announce...We already get a good crowd for the Anniversary, add this in, and it could be a pretty big next couple of months.Wow! Hope it can take the lag of 99% of the server entering it at once

-Sigh- Not the Archive/Construct argument again...
But I think i've made my point. Not really, sure 9mmFu said that Archives (or areas that were preserved from past) have their Opt-in choice by equipping the book, but this insofar as we know isn't an Archive, it's just an area similar to the white halls or Org areas (which still allow you to manually flag)Then I'll think its a shame that such a nice new area has gone to waste and can only hope that Phase two brings something more to the area.
If I am wrong then fine, I'll accept forced flagging and when people get bored of it and go back to Mara C because it's quicker and easier and when peoples taste for datamining has died down.

Edited just for NT.....>WB<
And for the last time, the Archives are archived constructs. Don't know why anyone thinks that they're mutually exclusive or that PvP applies only to one of them. And I've always thought of the org areas as secured outposts somewhere in the City that are only accessible through the industrial hallways, not external constructs.
Speaking of PvP, really... it's not like this place is gonna be a 24/7 warzone just because it's perma-flagged. Just look at the constructs--people are sometimes too busy looking for loot to even think about PvP. I was approached by a hostile player once who even wanted to trade loot. Give it a week to go through it's baby-Vector stage and before long, the constantly rude people should get bored of ganking and head back to Mara Central.
Sure, it'd be nice to lounge around a bit, but we have an entire city to do that. If you want to check out a new area and hang out and relax a bit, go downtown--I doubt anyone has really seen all of the views it has to offer. But we don't have any area where we can have free-for-all fights, and the Archives we have now are a joke as far as PvP is concerned.
If you're really worried about getting ganked, get a crowd together and zerg the place. Then you can enjoy a view you've earned.
Reeverb wrote:No, I just put Rarebit's quote in to answer your FFA question, my answer on what I gather about running missions was added seperately.Ah, so it has been mentioned. Couldn't be bothered to read the 17 pages. Thanks! <3
Though the FFA doesn't have anything to do with the mission system, right? 'Cause we could still run missions on Syntax when FFA was enabled, if I remember correctly.but, zomg cant wait for diz! tis gunna be awzome!
With regard to missions (no comment on the rest as even a FFA area is, at least, adding something) there are currently none in the Archives and one in the Construct (and none in the White Hallways) triggered from an object, rather than calling up Gray. I suspect that if this area is set up for FFAPvP there will be no mission system in a similar vein to the Archives. However, is that a loss? The mission system is one of the most stale and depressing features of the game once you have run the 10 variables of a mission thousand times before. So, I'm running into this room to kill these guys for reason (a) this time, tomorrow I'll run in and kill them for reason (b).
If possible, Phase 2 should move away from the tired system above and implement the next step Pandoras Box. Item generated missions, clues, intrigue in a world where you could be apprehended at any point in time. If Agent Gray sends me to the "Datamine" to assassinate yet another exile (How many Exiles are there? If Every lvl50 Machinist and Zionite has run the assassination mission that many times.....) for no reason whatsoever, and without any threat to my personal safety then I may just have to sigh.

What level are the data nodes? I'm just wondering if a sub 50 would have any incentive to go there.Well...son of a gun. Hmrrr okay, right, I'll just set a few areas in there to lower level ranges. D-ar.

Thanks to that timely reminder that you can't actually tap higher level nodes (now who'd have forgotten a thing like that *cough*), we now have lowbie mining zones, as follows:

They're relegated to relatively small parts of the island, yes, but hey, let's face it, why give a lot of real estate to someone who's gonna be dead in one shot, anyway?

Now, ungenerous level 50 types may refer to these small, concentrated target areas as

"gank zones," or something equally disrespectful, buuuuut I'm sure everyone will leave the poor lowbies to mine in peace.

Classy. How long do you expect the interiors to take? If it's a long time then you'll probably get people complaining about node spawn rates because half of the respawning nodes appear inside buildings and in other hard/impossible to reach places.FOREVAR!!!!!"
