Well, I think in regards to that he's just acting as if he's annoyed. I think he's maybe testing Locke or something, so that he eventually ends up on the Island. When that little meeting happens the Dharma Initiative wouldn't even have been on the Island and Richard would still have been a real "Other" at the time.

Hurley's just not having any luck since he got off the island, his parents throwing him a Hawaiian party, the lotto numbers on his car.

Not a bad episode, but nothing too noteworthy (well, okay, there was the Oceanic 6 stuff, but I don't really care about them). Just building up to the finale really.

In two weeks' time. SMILEY

Good to see Alpert though! Can't wait to see what the Others will pull out of their bag of tricks.
#36300455685 05/16/2008 05:22:41 Re:Lost Discussion Thread
Yeah, Desperate Housewives and Greys Anatomy both have a season finale next week which put Losts back a week I think was the reason. Which sucks.

The episode was ok, but like you said it's all building up to the next two parts. I guess the main question to come out of it is what happens to those that they ferryed onto the freighter.

4 seasons of excellence?  Season 3 sucked major.  The other 3 seasons though were, as you say, excellent.

You are kidding right? Season 3 introduced Desmond's future seeing ability and in turn his seeing of Charlies death, we finnaly found out what paralysed Locke, the introduction of Jacob and Ben shooting Locke because he can hear him, seeing how Ben came to the island and the ultimate demise of the Dharma Initiative, the five greatest moments of charlie's life and his last message from Penny to Desmond, we finnaly get to see the radio tower that was mentioned in season 1, the big turning point at the end of season 3 with Jack contacting the boat and Ben saying something along the lines of "This is the begining of the end.", also not forgetting the introduction of flash forwards.

No suckage in season 3.

I agree that the content was good.  But the delivery was poor.  Far too slow, too many questions, too few answers.  It just felt like they had lost the plot.  Season 4 dealt brought it back up though very well.

And the flash-forward.  I worked out it too early and it spoilt the ending.

Now that I've finished catching up on my season 4 box set I can read through this thread in it's entirety. Unfortunately though when the new season is out on Sky I'll have to stop reading it as I don't have Sky and I'm not great at remembering to watch episodes either. I'm more of a 'get the box set and watch it at my own pace' person as it's one of the few programs that me and my partner actually sit down and watch together.

My box sets have been getting smaller and smaller. The first two seasons were about a normal size for box sets, then the next couple doubled up the discs per case which was a good move. I think it's getting to that point where viewers love the mystery but don't want to wait for ages to find out answers (which inevitably come with more questions anyway).

All in all I enjoyed the pace of the latest season and events are becoming more and more spectacular. The only thing from the first season I think that compared with the sci-fi element of time displacement and island going pop is the smoke monster.

Me buying a box set generally means, me staying up all night watching each episode one after the other. SMILEY

I love the transition of feeling and themes from each season to the other.

Like, I could rewatch all 4 seasons constantly because the air is just different. The themes and the characters are somewhat different and still developing, it's great writing for that kind of feeling IMO.

Sneak peak of the first episode of season 5.

Spolier warnings on the clips I think but if you delve too much onto that page and the spoilers/theories that people post at the bottom it's not my fault

THAT WAS AWESOME ZOMG HEAD ASPLODE

I must say, I'm pretty excited about the rest of the season.  And I was just recently wondering if that woman would make a return or not...

#36300537292 01/22/2009 11:22:10 Re:Lost Discussion Thread

Now with the whole phrase on the group on the island currently was who moved. Made me think. About how far did they move? The outfits by some of the people look to be world war typeish. But I think I just went from thinking one thing. To down right confused.

Also the whole "For them to come back. You need to die" part just made me think on what lock would do. I mean will he actually take his life (or someone else in some unforseen way). Just to have the others return?

I have more questions unanswered in these first two episodes. Then when I did after season four ended.

Her name is Ms. Hawking and she's only appeared once- in Desmond's episode after he turned the key in the hatch.  She explained to him that the universe has a way of "course correcting" itself to make sure what should happen does happen which is why he knew Charlie was going to die no matter what.

You should read the article I attached, she's a really interesting character who is, in a manner of speaking, working for the Island.

#36300537360 01/22/2009 15:47:15 Re:Lost Discussion Thread

Excellent stuff! SMILEY Finally, after an on-off and mostly silly season of Heroes, we can get back to some decent sci-fi drama.

I'm excited by the fact that Ben really doesn't seem to be comfortable with any of this; he's not in control any more and there's a real possibility that he might fail. Seeing Ms Hawking again was great, and the look on Ben's face when Hurley threw that... thing at him. Absolutely priceless.

However, I do have a nasty feeling we're going to see the island zip back and forth through time taking in every significant event we know about. We've had the plane so far, maybe we'll see the Black Rock crash? All interesting events in their own way, but we can list them all right now, so there's not much suspense in that idea.

OOOOH!!  I remember now!  Thank you!  I thought it was going to be Faraday's mother.

#36300537412 01/22/2009 19:08:40 Re:Lost Discussion Thread

It still could be, considering they're both TIME TRAVELING DEMONS.

#36300538907 01/28/2009 19:15:18 Re:Lost Discussion Thread

Well, that was one of my least favorite episodes. I felt like it was all over the place. Apart from learning some Faraday fleshing-out, the story behind Locke's "Which one of these already belonged to you?," and the origin of Charles Widmore, a lot felt like filler. Especially the Charlotte nosebleeding which has been dragging on for 3 episodes now. Find your place of birth already? :O

I now understand a little bit more about why Charles Widmore wants the island back, since after all he was one of the original "Others", but yeah I wish they would get this the Charlotte thing over with.

#36300539069 01/29/2009 08:50:50 Re:Lost Discussion Thread

I don't think the Charlotte thing is dragging on.  It's only been three episodes/two weeks.  I almost wonder if something happened that's caused her to not be born, which is why she's starting to lose memories and stuff.  I dunno.  Definitely interested, though.

This season is awesome so far.  I love time travel.

EDIT:  With all the time travelling shenanigans, I wonder what the odds are that Desmond's and Penny's child, Charlie, is actually THE Charlie?

#36300539071 01/29/2009 08:59:25 Re:Lost Discussion Thread

Now that's a fascinating theory. It would make the running theme time with Desmond almost "John Connor-esque". If the baby shows up in the story again, I think we'll know what time it is.

#36300539101 01/29/2009 11:35:07 Re:Lost Discussion Thread

Very unlikely. We know Charlie's family history, and isn't Liam his older brother? Plus it would be a bit, well, daft. SMILEY We don't need too many paradoxes either; I think we're fine with the amount of puzzles we have right now!

Man, I gotta learn Latin. That was awesome.

#36300541263 02/04/2009 19:33:41 Re:Lost Discussion Thread

Really?  I was a bit disappointed.

Yay Jin's still alive and yay we get to see Rousseau again, albeit in a younger form, but I've been feeling like these episodes aren't getting us anywhere.

#36300541378 02/05/2009 06:28:37 Re:Lost Discussion Thread

Well, for me it looks pretty much nailed on that Miles was also born on the island. The most likely candidate to be his father would be Chang, we saw a kid of his back in the 70's with Dharma at the start of episode 1.

It seems like whatever the effects are of the travel, they effect those that have been there longer. I'm guessing both Miles and Charlotte have been there for like a couple of years or maybe just a year as a child. Because Juliet has been there for more than the few months that the 815'ers were, it's now taking effect on her but Miles and obviously Charlotte were effected first.

I'm guessing we're going to find out more about Rousseau and why she killed her science team in the forthcoming episode, I hope so anyway.

The nod to ajira airways ARG was cool. It does seem like that will be the airline that gets them back to the Island, but how? In that same flash, the camp was a wreck and then folk were shooting at Locke and co. I wonder who it was? The others? I had a strange feeling it might be the 06 and other 815'ers because it seemed so purposfully impossible to make them out but it doesn't make much sense for it to be them.

Didn't suprise me Ben was behind the case against Aaron. Though for a horrible moment during the episode I thought maybe Sun had manipulated the situation and she was the one doing it.

It seems to me like everything is coming together and the next few episodes are going to answer a lot. I'm glad it seems like the 06 will be back around mid-season time, though, because there's still half a season of madness to come!

Ah that makes perfect sense! I was kind of thinking along the lines of how desmond first started getting the nose bleeds. I too also thought Sun and Widmore was behind the challengeing Kate as Aarons mother.

#36300541401 02/05/2009 07:29:46 Re:Lost Discussion Thread

Ah, hmm, I guess it did do a little more than I remembered it doing.

But yes, you're right about this season starting well and I assume it can only get better from here!  :D

#36300541410 02/05/2009 08:08:03 Re:Lost Discussion Thread

Something I discussed with odj last night was the pacing of the episodes. They seem to start a little slow and build up to sort of 1/4 or 1/2 of the way through where the pace really starts gathering.

#36300543018 02/11/2009 19:16:25 Re:Lost Discussion Thread

Another awesome episode tonight, definalty rewatching it.
