If you're flying from Europe, it hardly matters which coast of the US you fly to. The plane ticket is slightly more expensive, perhaps, but the cheaper hotels, food & festivities balance it out.
I was gonna say that ...but it was much better coming phrom you.

Ok *CENSORED* is up with people and Vegas. The last Fanfaire was there and frankly it gets kinda old REALLY fast.
Incorrect. Las Vegas is awake 24/7 and there is always somthing to do at all hours of the day. Anywhere else we would be extreamly limited as to what you could do outside of fan fair. Everything closes at night time. In Vegas Night time is just like day time, except darker and more hookers.
DC ftw!Doubt it's gonna happen now. Looks like I'm gonna miss this one then.

Please vote on potential cities, dates and costs for Fan Faire 2008. You have 14 days to give us your two cents and help determine where the next great event will be held - so vote now!"MxO-Insertion wrote:The votes dont choose the location I thought, just gets an idea of what the community wants??DC ftw!Doubt it's gonna happen now. Got me, I just took that as, 'Most votes win'.

The "..help determine where..", is the operative phrase.

So there we have it.
I'm sure its a blast... but if its not Orlando, there's no way I'm going to be able to make it.

10/12/07 - 01/09/09 Good fight
HOw about CA
In the first poll, San Diego,CA was in there but it had a lowest poll count so they took it out.

<./img>Good stuff.
I'd love it if they threw in a random curveball, and held it in Belgium.

So far, it is looking good for me to be going. So yeah.I'm buying you a beer then.
Good stuff.

At nerd conventions?
It might be possible. Tune in.

I couldn't imagine it being anywhere as good as before unless it was held in Vegas. Unless ex goes, of course.
Awww.

If I could get ex hired and on the payroll soon enough, he could make it.

Haha. If wishing made it so, sir.

Ex can stay in my driveway if he has a car :O
Most hospitable, though the purchasing and shipping of a vehicle may prove more expensive.

Maybe if some of us know how much it actually costs round trip. Jumping ahead - and say assuming it's in Las Vegas again.
Think about:
$ Price of Tickets
$ Hotel Room
$ Air Fair (most costly usually)
$ Food, booze, drugs & hookers (I mean "Holiday Helpers")
I've been to Vegas about 3 times already and all up and down the strip. So I know where the cheap, free fun can be. Lions in MGM, Rollercoster on top of the Statoshpere (rides and also in NY/NY and Circus Circus). Some advice ... don't go into Circus Circus is you are really drunk and/or stoned. Remember Fear & Loathing - yeh its alot like that @.@ . Been to the dinner theatrics of Excalibur, and of course the Star Trek exprerience in the Hilton. I won $150 on slots at the Hilton last time I was there - woowoo! And the best dinner is not on the strip, it's at Sam's Town which is a little off the strip. Best steak dinner for cheap ever! And there is the Fremont Experience which is a little off the strip as well. In an older section. A huge overhead lightshow comes on at night. Pretty fun!
My estimates for someone who lives in Pacific NW, comes to about $2000 total. Not something to sneeze at. That might be a little on the high side, but it's not too far off. I'd just like to get a more realistic expectation on what it will cost. Because I do want to go. But I have to really start throwing some money in my piggybank. Hope my tax return and that $600 government bonus "stimulus" check comes soon.
And if I can really go ... I do need dates, times, and a spot to start reserving. Getting plane tickets is the hardest.
I am going to this over BOTCON ... the biggest Transformers convention. Which is something I have also dreamed of going to. Wow ... I must like video games.
Who is this doing this synthetic type of alpha beta psychedelic funky?
When is everything going to be official and decided? I want to make my plans well in advance >_<They are comfirming where and when this week I thought.
I need it in advance to, cos of flights from the UK >.<
Make my flight bookings, hotel bookings etc, and save some spending $ to waste on booze and bail.
Also, I need to make myself that t-shirt
Big ol DOE logo on the back.
"BANNED FOR EXCESSIVE NEGATIVITY" in big red letters across it.
NightTrace - MCDoE on the right breast.
Can you tell I put some thought into this yet?

Hope we get some good costumes there this year, if anyone is gonna dress up

You know, regular clothing, and a bottle of something alcoholic.

No doubt il use the neo costume again, unless I can finaly fix up Havocides true style uniform ( i doubt )

I ask that if something does happen, to not intervene and advise security immediately so they can deal with it. In another online game a bystander tried to stop a conflict between members of two rival clans at a meet and greet, and lost his life in the process. This is very upsetting when people lose their lives due to in-game rivalries.
I do not wish to scare, just making you aware some people take things too seriously. If you are feeling rational, so confrontational, just don't turn up.

I would like to remind people to keep it civil at the Fan Faire. I have on file various occurrences of threats to hurt people at this meeting. I trust appropriate security will be on-site during the events.

When it comes to things like this, people need to take about 50 steps back from the game and realize it's -just a game-. Don't take your drama to Fan Faire, leave it at home people. We're too small a community to have this kind of thing come up when we meet there. I'm going to greet every MxO'er there with a smile and a handshake (might hug Phluff though
). The last thing MxO needs to have at Fan Faire is a fistfight.
