Before changing your drivers, make sure that your card is supported for our game, and that you have the most up-to-date drivers for it. You may find Supported Cards and Drivers information using the links below:

Matrix Online:

Once you have downloaded the newest drivers to a location you will remember (such as the Desktop), you need to remove your current drivers.

Before installing new Video drivers, regardless of Make, Manufacturer, or Model # of card, you should always uninstall the drivers you are using currently before updating to the new drivers. Click on Start, click on Settings, click on Control Panel, and then click on Add/Remove programs (for Vista, it's Start, then Control Panel, and either Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features). Your Video card drivers should be listed, and this is where you should uninstall them (just click on the driver and click the Change/Remove button)

You might want to take the 8000 series nvidia cards off that list. They don't really work with this game.

Allright i just downgraded my drivers to the recommended 100.65 for my 7600GT running Vista 32 bits.  Hope it makes a difference from the 162.22 version.

Edited : SMILEY still having same texture issues as before....

I second that

On a side-tangent...I have a laptop with the most accursed of nVidia Cards, the geForce 440.  I found that recklessly throwing away nVidia's drivers and installing Omega Drivers fixed a lot of the annoying compatibility problems that cropped up (with other games...MxO very quickly patched itself out from under me and became 100% incompatible with my card).

If you're really desperate and driver downgrades don't help...you might find that helpful. ^_^

#36300333343 10/04/2007 19:01:01 Re:Upgrading Display Drivers
the 440 is not compatible with MxO and the Omega Drivers for the early nVidia cards cause more troubles than not.

Also if you are running MxO under Vista you should turn off anti-alias, as that seems to cause most of the problems.

I don't condone using beta or hacked drivers, but sometimes when the manufacture turns their backs on older cards, or doesn't release any new drivers such as in the case of Vista because it'd be a total re-write for them, and they don't want to spend the time on doing this for old cards.....Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.  I've found quite a lot of helpful drivers over at www.guru3d.com . Check out their downloads section if you're stuck and can't get any lovin' from the OEM.

The 440 was compatible with MxO...briefly.  That was my point, but Paige6 perhaps worded it better:  if you're not feeling the love from the manufacturer, and you're desperate, you can try 3rd-party drivers.  The worst that happens is you go running for the Rollback Drivers button.
#36300335532 10/10/2007 03:43:25 Re:Upgrading Display Drivers
Yes in the very least the 8800 needs to be noted as being incompatible with MxO.  The prices on 7900s and 7950s are dropping fast... you might want to consider a hardware downgrade.
#36300336911 10/13/2007 08:32:04 Re:Upgrading Display Drivers
Yes I have upgraded my video driver with no success...I have been having very serious issues with video cards and this game. ATI logo comes up when ur logging in and I am confused because I thought since ATI's logo is coming up that there wouldn't be any compatibilty issues what so ever. I have changed theresolution in game out of game I have changed ram usage and such and still have the same problems. The new video card that I purchased was the ATI RADEON VISIONTEK X1650 PRO, which is supposed to be a gaming video card. I can't even enjoy the game because of all the crashing and when I say crashing that is exactly what I mean... I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, resetting the driver, Direct x9 diagonistics, reinstalling the game, playing with Catalyst Control system anti-aliasing and tech support from various areas...exactly what is the problem in connection with these video cards???
#36300336915 10/13/2007 08:46:20 Re:Upgrading Display Drivers
Have you got a power supply that can handle your video card, i think that the X1650 Pro needs at least a 300watt, usually standard p/s are 250watt. That may be the problem, but im no expert.

Yes, power supply is sufficient.

Ty

In game should the anti-alias be checked....because it wasn't checked in my settings..so I checked in order to support the anti-alias in catalyst.

Hey Cookie1017,

I'd start a new thread explaining the exact problem and post your system info as requested in the thread stickied at the top of the forum (Please Read before posting) and then someone will take a look and see if there's something in your system that's causing the problem. SMILEY

There have been some real recent MS updates to Vista by MS - I would suggest to those with Vista and 8000 series Nvidia cards like I do take the time to take all the video updates the MS package has.  After I have been running MxO for a bit after these drivers and those recent updates SOME - TINY things seem to have settled down a bit.  SOME textures are behaving a little better.  When there are a lot of ppl in the screen I am less likely to go all to the blank squares as often - it does seem to have chipped some issues down a bit!

I have a 8600 Nvidia card.  I don't know what those will do for 8800's, but - hopefully it works across the board.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!  Is there an up to date CoolBits registry entries or similar which will unlock the overclocking controls in the nVidia Control Panel?  Every time I update drivers, I have to re-enable overclocking and the registry settings I have to do this (CoolBits) are very old.  Anyone have tips for overclocking nVidia cards with newest drivers without using the old CoolBits registry entries?

#36300386651 01/14/2008 17:34:30 Upgrading Display Drivers
Uhm - I don't totaly know what "CoolBits" is. But after a quick search, all I see is a;

CoolBits 2.0 - dated 2004 as the most recent version date.

So I'm guessing that's a NO ...

Nvidia seems to update at least 1nce to every 2 months. So I say to everyone with 8000's to keep checking at least 1nce a month. And keep an eye on your Vista MS video updates.

Maybe I'll try to keep a better on new Nvidia drivers postings for us. :/ It's pointless to scream about the problems anymore. Lets just try to help pool together and use our collective abilities to help solve some of these problems. I mean - why not? If it fixes it faster - then all the better I say.

I must totally agree on the omegadriver for my ati card.

When im at mara cental normally, or participate in an event, i got major lag, so bad, i couldnt move around, hyper jump was nearly impossible, that out of frustration every normal thinkin person jacks out knowing that you can better leave the matrix if you cant even walk 3 meters.
ive been searching these forums, i googled from here to china to solve these problems.
After completely turning my windows system upside down, for any possible flaw for 2 days, when i lost all hope pull my hair and seeing my chance on playing my mxo smooth ever again, i found the omega drivers.
After reading the readme and faqs about it, i did what it said to install it.
I would have to mention atm my specs are low. Pentium III 800mhz, 512mb physical memory, and a ATI radeon 9250 128mb for.. yes.. PCI slot.
Now... also note that before my former PC died i used a  ATI radeon 9600 256mb card AGP.

And heres what happend..: after installing omegadrivers.. and turning on its Auto-overclockingtool.. i couldnt believe my eyes.
I was totally flabbergasted by the awesome graphics..  i went to do a box mission with like 15 people.. + all spawning NPCs.. and it didnt even stutter onces.
I never seen my hyperjump so smooth.. and my latency bar didnt even go in the yellow.. except when teleporting for like 2 secs it would pike and then drop to 3 green dots again.
After that i went to mara C.. on a medium busy recursionserver and guess what.. i could move! No stuttter, no lag, nothing, just smooth running and hyperjumping like i had nasa PC lol.
i am not lieing one word about this when i say, it runs now smoother then when i used my old pc wich was AMD 1000mhz with 1024mb physical memory, and Ati card with double specs. And the graphics .. oh boy.. on medium it looked like everything was set on high.
So.. THANK YOU!! for the awesome solution SMILEY and making me the happiest person to ever walk in the matrix hahah..
Cheers,
and thanks very much!

greetz

Cool!  Glad to hear it helped someone SMILEY

Incidentally, for those of you who recently migrated from the ATI world to nVidia...you *can* still use ATITool to adjust your settings on an nVidia card.  The program does work.

But I am not recommending this for overclocking; rather, I found it helped me with an eVGA 6800SC that was factory-tweaked just a little too high to stay stable...shaving a few notches off the speeds fixed the problem. SMILEY  At the time, it just worked better for me than nVidia's Control Panel.

By the way, to answer the question about controlling the clock speeds in an nVidia card: I don't know whether Coolbits is relevant any more because the nVidia Control Panel rolls up a lot of features and settings in it that you can use to manually configure your machine. You just need to specify Advanced Settings when you launch the nVidia Control Panel (you can also switch to Advanced Settings using the dropdown menu).
The nice thing is, the interface is easy to understand. And it even comes with pre-loaded profiles for a lot of games...which you can then edit so that when one game runs, it uses specific settings different from the others.
The not-so-nice thing is, if you Apply a change, you need to be patient; sometimes the act of making it so can take up to a minute or more before the machine will respond. Also, when you update your drivers, some settings are "forgotten" when the old software is overwritten. SLi, for example; every time I update, I need to go back in an re-enable SLi, then reboot to make it stick. SMILEY

Yes, this is Escaped and I am having trouble with my graphics card and it crashing Mxo.  It is a Radeon x300 mobility 128 MB newly upgraded with all of its drivers updated, I think and I need a solution to this soon.  If anyone could help,  that would be great.  I have defragged and my hard drive is up to 27 % free. The error message I get is referring to my graphic card not having enough memory to support running mxo and that the game is using internal memory from my hard drive to run the game and that is why it is crashing.  And I do have the recommended MB  to run  Mxo which is 128.  Could anyone shed some light on this please?

Note:  My graphic card only crashes when i am doing missions

#36300422839 03/10/2008 16:16:10 Re:Upgrading Display Drivers
The mobility x300 is on the extreme low end of 3D hardware (it's built into your motherboard). It shares it's VRAM with the system memory, so if you have say: 512MB system memory and the card is using 256MB then that leaves you with 256MB system memory available... it's not using your HDD. If it was, it would take about 4 or 5 seconds to draw the screen. Technically I don't think your GFX meets the minimum specs for MxO... you may be able to run it... but only at absolute lowest GFX settings
