#3630029261307/27/2007 14:19:01the new leaving thread of the week
No, this is not a hoax this time (if your computer says it's April 1st, it's probably bugged).
Yea, I know I don't happen to be one of those "greatly respected players who have contributed incredibly much to the community" everyone will miss, but I thought I'd make this thread in case one day someone asked: "Wait a second, where is that non-stop arguing zero dude?"
So yea, I'm leaving MxO. I'm not going to delve into lots of points and reasons, but basically, I've simply lost my interest in this game and it's story, and am tired of the constant lag and bugs and something not working all the time, and the apparently very limited possibilities and outlooks for this game. The lack of interest then doesn't make it worth anymore to sustain/overlook these demerits.
I haven't played or followed the game for about 3 months now, and I thought the best thing to do would be simply cancelling my account. Before you say "you'll be back" - yea, I entirely don't rule out that one day, I might decide to resubsribe (for a month or whatever). Maybe I'll get a better internet connection, or suddenly catch huge interest in the storyline, or simply want to see MegaCity again.
Anyway, good bye for now.
A question: I heard something of 6 months being the longest time my characters would be saved, and being deleted after that. Is that true? Or do the characters remain in the database infinitely?
PS: My current (temporary) internet connection sucks so much, it can't load any pictures at all. I'm getting a new one in a week or so, until then, has the live event picture issue been fixed, or are they still missing?

Just checked, the LE pics work now :O I didn't know
Not sure about the '6 month rule' that I have heard about, but it is not like we are pushed for database space
Sad to see a vet go, I do hope you get the urge to return.
Also, nothing wrong with a critiziser or two on the forums, they help the debates

Often MxO Characters are stored beyond 6 months, but this is not guaranteed. So if you stay away for longer than 6 months you run a risk of losing them. I have to ask if you checked out the new data node stuff though, it really is one of the best content wise additions we've ever had. I must admit, that if I had a poor connection, I wouldn't want to play much myself. Also, I never, never, very rarely experience any lag in this game.

Hey 506 - I'd just like to say that you most definitely ARE one of those greatly respected players who has contributed loads to the community and you'll be sorely missed by me at least. Your Neighbourhood Collector transcripts are invaluable to me and my little MxO project and I recall you helping me remember and gather information on other occasions.
OK we haven't had a lot of conversations on the boards or whatever, but I thought I should let you know before you disappear that at least one player appreciates all you've done and will be sad to see you leave.
All the best in the real world

Cya have fun in whatever you play, (except WoW if you play that large turd)
in the case of characters, 6 Months storage time is pretty much guarantee'd, after that they'll stay there unless someone makes a character with your name
*adds Zero's character name to takeover list*
cya.

This has been coming for a long while, i've unfortunately seen your interest and enthuiasm over the game slowly wither away.
No doubt from constant confrontations, here and elsewhere
But yeah, if the love is gone theres no shame in leaving, or at least taking a break mate.
You've been a good friend, good luck in whatever you do, hope to see you back sometime.

If ya want interest back watch the movies again. Works for me every time. If you don't want it, don't watch those godly movies. =)
Have fun with life the short while you'll be out there.

I don't know you at all but you were all over the forums, I wondered where you went... Good luck out there.
Your character will not be removed after 6 months. It's a rule but the servers are so crappy, they don't dare to touch them. =P In fact, I've heard several players cheering they still had their character when they returned after a year. =)

I don't think I ever had the chance to meet you, fella, but take care and good luck in all that you do.

That's really good, because if you're so interested in the storyline that it keeps you playing, the last thing you want is entire months of archives simply disappearing due to some server failure.
Good that they fixed it.

Okay. In two days, I'm getting a new connection, but with my current one, I can hardly access DN1, LOL. I'll check it out.
@FrozenFyre
Thanks for the kind words man, but without any false humbleness, transcribing a few lines from screenshots (or pasting event links) isn't something I'd like to be respected for, lol, and it's nothing compared to creating popular fansites, organizing events, leading RP factions or doing MxO movies etc.
@pack-hunter Don't worry about WoW, I currently don't consider playing any MMO
@cloudwol Thanks, and no, being told by someone on MMORPG how much better other games are didn't really influence anything, it's really just the reasons I named in my OP

I only know you because of an interaction on these forums long ago. About some theories on the Zion/One cycle.
Either way, I wish you good luck ^^
