OK time to bring this up again before the next patch. As far as I am aware there is no IL penalty for gunmen now so sharpshooter and multifighting are aseless atm. I make this thread so ppl can give any ideas of what the abilities should do. Devs if you already have plans for these and are already working on them please share with us here. My suggestion for multifighting is that it boost all defences against everything outside IL by 10-20 pts (I doubt that is possible though as how the system works) or just higher defence with 10-20 points and is only active while you are in IL just like desperation (so this should work). For sharpshooter I would suggest maybe some accuracy bonus for ballistics.... can't really come up with something there.

As a disambiguation I'd like to point out the description for sharpshooter claims it removes a penalty for firing into interlock - meaning that if your buddy is in interlock with someone else, you don't get penalised for trying to shoot that enemy. I've heard that a Dev confirmed Sharpshooter doesn't actually do anything but if they were looking for it to affect combat inside interlock, as some players thought it meant, then they may have missed where it does have an effect. Either way, it'd be good to have some confirmation here.
I agree that the best apparent use for Multifighting would be as a kind of rebalancing protection so IL isn't quite as much a deathtrap as it can be from time to time. Although, it'd be interesting to see what the Devs have in mind for this stuff. Perhaps changes for Compell Close Combat and Taunt should be considered here too?

Well, if Multi-fighting was re-implemented it'd have to change. Before when more than one person was interlocked with you/was free-firing, you had a penalty. Multi-fighting negated that penalty for up to three people I believe.

With the current Interlock system, multifghting won't be happening anytime soon, although I heard of a glitch where 3 people were in a multi-fight. Seems like that was a weird story since nobody really noticed what was happening until the guy who got interlocked died. There was no time to think about what happened.
Either way, I have to agree that these two would need some kind of function.

They should take them out completely, or go with the pattern of Firearms skill/Martial Arts prowess, and make them a slight accuracy buff. Sharpshooter or whatever it's called would give you bonus to Ballistic accuracy, Multi fighting might have it's name changed and give you a Melee Accuracy bonus for a short amount of time. I'd say have it long enough to last for 2 moves, so about 8-10 seconds.
That would finally put them to actual use.

Those were 3 words that have nothing to do with this thread :-/

Multifighting - activates while you're interlocked - gives a defense bonus against out-of-interlock attacks.
Sharpshooter - always active except in interlock - gives a ballistic accuracy bonus outside of interlock.

Seems fair to me, although in truth I would like that multifighting ability to be a function of IL in general tbh.... I still think IL is too much of a trap in zerg scenarios and it needs a bit of dev love!

Gah sharpshooter does nothing? >.<
If it does get modified I'd suggest either:
Sharpshoot -
1) Negates/grants bonus for using guns in Interlock
or as already suggested;
2) Negates penalty for shooting an opponent in interlock with an ally
Multi-Fighting would rock if brought back but I suppose it could give a defence/concentration bonus if you're getting shot at outside of Interlock while you're fighting?

Think about this for a minute: How many other games out there have abilities that are completely and totally useless? I mean just there for the sake of being there. It's sloppy, and having them there without a purpose severely subtracts from the overall production quality of MxO. Do something with them. Anything. Make the buff as useless as Intensify Attacks, but just make sure that they actually have a purpose.

They should either use them for something else or completely remove them. They're confusing for new players and you shouldn't still be able to get them from vendors.

Yeah, i agree on what Krytical said.

This is confused
Multi-Fighting
Sharpshooter

I think the description given for Sharpshooter is on the right track. Logically, there should be a penalty of some sort (presumably an accuracy penalty) for shooting at a target that's interlocked and Sharpshooter could be ysed to negate that penalty. Multifighting would act as a defensive buff against any attack coming from outside of interlock (or, as I've suggested before, at least reduce the chance of outside attackers being able to cause the special move enabling states like staggered). This way, the two abilities wouldn't completely cancel eachother out and end up making any changes nearly pointless.
Anyway, as said, either do something with them (the much better option) or get rid of them altogether. This is one of the most commonly asked questions that I hear from both new players and those who have returned after a lengthy time away. They always ask what they do and then, once I tell them they do nothing, they ask why they are still there.

We could make sharpshooter like the the old CR1 ability, i forget what its called, that would allow you cause a bit more damage by seeing when you IL opponent was weak against a tactic and what tactic that was at the cost of lowering your chance to cause states.
And for multi-fighting we could name change it and basically make power shot from CR1, when you'd do little damage but get back IS. I hear a lot of demand for power shot to be brought back, so i figured this would kill two birds with one stone.

There have been a lot of good ideas floating around about how to implement these two abilities, but the fact that we have two items on a tree that are completely useless, degrades the entire game's production value. New players, not knowing the history of both moves, would also load these up under the perception that they have some kind of effect on your loadout. At least change the text in Sharpshooter to indicate its uselessness until a fix comes out.

Marvellous idea!

Yep - its more useless than Cryptography.
And yet they didn't take that absurdly useless PoS out of the game on CR2 any more than they dealt with these two abilities.
