I'm still running on two X1950 XTXs in crossfire and everything is fine...

But I am building on a new system wit 8800s and will just keep playing on the old sys until these issues get taken care of ...

Here is an update on my situation.  I run windows xp pro with dual 8800 GTX Cards and have this same problem, exactly as described above.  (with the lag clearing up immediately after exiting the building)

I have tried alt-tabbing, swapping between windowed mode and fullscreen, swapping between sli mode/single, turning off/on every ingame graphic setting, and tried the past 4 released drivers (including the most current xp beta driver).

None of these have any effect for me.

Very frustrating for a new user.  The game seems great but if this stays the way it is I won't be able to justify playing/continiung my subscription.

I have no performance problems with any other game and I have played just about every PC game you can think of on this box flawlessly.

Anyone who finds a temporary fix or the exact nature of the problem shout out so we can get this resolved! SMILEY

Another update!  I installed Vista on a separate hard drive and the indoor lag all goes away.  Of course then I get new graphical bugs to replace the lag.  I give up SMILEY

Probably not much of a help for people, but since some people have been using them before, the new NGOHQ optimized drivers released today do not improve the situation at all.

Yo yo yo I have this card (640mb edition I think) and well I tried the indoor distance trick and it worked to some extent but I have to agree, rooms with lots of doors lag to hell. I am gunna try a few tricks I know and see if I can help in any way possible. Also I know 100% it aint lack of power especially on my machine. I will let you know what I work out.

It's a problem with the drivers and the game's graphic engine, not your computer's power supply.

My point was it doesn't matter how powerful your machine is, it's a problem with the drivers and the game engine.

Oh, nevermind.

Getting the same problem with my PNY Nvidia Verto Geforce 8600 GTS 256mb , I'm going to look for new drivers , maybe that'll fix the issue...

Yeah just picked up a XFX 8800 GTX and have the same issue... Makes doing mission impossible... Have a friend who has a 8800 GTX but has no issue just made by someone else... Is there a fix for this or what?

So far there is still no fix for the Nvidia 8000 series for windows XP, and there still graphical errors in Vista's version.

I've been communicating with Nvidia about this since May, and they still have not fixed the drivers for it. SMILEY
They keep saying it will be researched, but they've been saying that since May and i'm really getting ticked off.

I too am experiencing said problem with an 8600GTS.  this is crap, one or the other should fix this issue.  I want to start another character... but I can mission, or do the crits with Sephr... *sigh*

FIX IT PLEASE!  *Kneels and pleads*
#36300316581 09/04/2007 12:29:34 Re:GeForce 8800GTX - Major indoor lag!?
This is really getting annoying, well more obnoxious than before. If I run close to certain buildings I hit major lag also. It seems that really plain, standard building I get the occasional glitch of my char when he's walking. Other buildings I freeze for about 3 seconds then I'm run into a wall far from where I was originally trying to go. I really don't wanna switch to ATI, I hate them with a passion.

#36300319314 09/09/2007 12:24 Re:GeForce 8800GTX - Major indoor lag!?
Probably because the 8000 series sucks and they want to get rid of them to people like us that were stupid enough to buy them. And the 7000 series actually works.
#36300321752 09/12/2007 22:26 Re:GeForce 8800GTX - Major indoor lag!?
Tested these new drivers, possible improvement when first opening the door, though that could all be in my head after reading the previous comment about that. Once i get inside it's just as bad. So in my opinion, these drivers fixed nothing.
#36300332789 10/03/2007 20:08 Re:GeForce 8800GTX - Major indoor lag!?

So, 6 months after i originally posted this thread. We still have no fix. I think its about time SOE puts a warning label on mxo that says

"WARNING: WILL NOT WORK WITH NVIDIA 8000 SERIES CARDS, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!"

Does anyone have the black screen problem with Vista? I'm not sure if it's here it should posted or under the Graphic problems? The black screen comes when i am trying to take a screen puctire using F12 or F11.

You can't take screens with Vista, which is why they show up as black.

You just cant have AA enabled for the screenshot, atleast that is how it works for me.
#36300340203 10/20/2007 08:28:45 Re:GeForce 8800GTX - Major indoor lag!?
I think what the developer community is -not- realizing is that the player community is issuing an ultimatum.  In which we pay for a game, and not being able to access parts of the game because of a known hardware glitch.  A glitch mind you, which the Developer community knows of but has taken no effort to bring to more light to the entire community of MxO.

On that note, being that many people (Veterans of the game as well) have issued ultimatums, and so many people are dropping from the game; I find it rather ridiculous that they are working on luggables, instead of addressing the playability of the game in all aspects of all hardware.  And being that this problem has been known for so long, It is rather humorous that no real action has been taken to even "attempt" to quell people or their hardware's issues.

So, being that 9mmFu said that they do work with Nvid, and Microsoft together for these kinds of problems... A driver update should not be an issue.  Considering Most of Nvid's work is really only writing the script for the drivers, and Microsoft makes the links from hardware to soft possible on a windows system.

So why?  Why has neither SoE or Nvid come out and said "Yes, this is a top priority issue".  Well, A few logical reasons apply to why a business would not do so.

  1. They actually dont have a solution, but want people to think they do.
  2. They as well know that the player community is dropping like flys, and they see no reason to invest time or money to improve something they see as a total loss at this point.  (which is a VERY viable solution for any business)
  3. That one company or the other (SoE or Nvid) is not going to be giving or receiving a "Kick-Back" for the service.  Meaning that no money or other service will change hands.  And this again stems from number 2.
So there, You have my two cents, and I do hope Nvid or Our own dev team will care to fix this asap.  Or they face losing more people to a game that has been totally surpassed in everything but the emote system.  Thumbs up for our emote system...

#36300340984 10/22/2007 04:47:56 Re:GeForce 8800GTX - Major indoor lag!?

I'd like to know where we are up to with this issue.  Those of us with a Geforce 8 series card are screwed because either we use Windows XP and stay in open areas when we play MXO or use Vista and make do with all the graphical glitches.

Can we get some feedback from the devs on whether this issue of unbearable indoor lag (and it is unbearable) is being looked into and and how high it is on the priority list.  Given the fact that MXO becomes prettty much unplayable for those with a Geforce 8 series card I would hope that it would be at the top or at least near to the top of the priority bug list.

I'm not asking for an ETA as I know these are not given out just some assurances that the issue is being looked into, after all the problem first got reported way back in April and it's now OctoberSMILEY

#36300341646 10/23/2007 14:28:31 Re:GeForce 8800GTX - Major indoor lag!?
I contacted Nvidea directly.  The problem isnt with their product they say (but what company wouldnt say that?).  They claim the problem is with SOE-MxO and needs to be addressed via the game side.  So...

Im going to call SOE right now and post any relevant conversation that occurs for the benifit of all of us with this GREAT card that is actually really good.

TFC2 runs like a gem... what about a now 4(?) year old game?

I've just upgraded to the latest Beta Drivers from nVidia (163.75) and read their update notes. Not ones did it mention anything about MxO. It seems that every other game online or not that has an issue with any nVidia cards (not just the 8000 series) is listed with notes saying whether it is a hardware problem with the cards or software issue with drivers or the games code itself. Despite many people asking them and telling them that there is an issue MxO is not listed in it whatsoever. Does this mean that SoE hasn't contacted nVidia about the issue, because if they have, nVidia isn't taking them very seriously at all.

Oh by the way, by all means try out the latest drivers for your own cards, but I doubt they would have fixed the issue...

This is somewhat untrue, the newest true beta drivers are the 167.26 drivers that are for the 8800GT, and boosts overall GPU performance by almost 10% on the 8 Series cards. I'm testing it right now on my new setup over at xtremesystems.org

Well - if SOE has posted this falsehood - well, the game does technicaly woooork with the card - but not well. Sooo, that may be a sticky issue in court.

But - with all this evidence and documentation - we may have grounds for a lawsuit. Anyone got any lawyer friends that would like to start writing some letters?
Only thing about that is - be careful what you wish for.  You may end up hurting those you love the most.

Walrus mentioned the steps they're taking in the Producer's Letter he posted recently:

Graphic Issues

We've done as much as we can internally to deal with the various compatibility issues the community has been discussing on the forums. At this point, we're going to see if we can get some direct assistance from our contacts at Microsoft and nVidia to analyze the issues. Hopefully we can find something we have the capability to fix that will alleviate the different problems. It would be even better if we found that Microsoft and/or nVidia had something in the works that take care of the problems, but we'll just have to see.

We know more and more players will likely run into similar issues as time goes on, so it's important for us to do everything we can to take care of them. You'll know more when we do. Thanks for everyone's help tracking them down

As I told mathalos, If your smart, take that with a grain of salt.

Edit : As soon as algorithm black is done, I will be too.  There are too many other wonderful games coming out, with far more content.  It was a great game before CR2 and before SOE screwed it over.  Now all it has is broken gameplay and a broken team to work on it.

Thanks for all the fun, but now the bad outweighs the good. SMILEY

Symmetric, I don't know where you'd cadged Walrus' statement about working with Microsoft and nVidia, but it occurred to me they have another partner they may get some help from:  ATI.  I  hope they know this/can get some cooperation, because help from any front is certainly useful. SMILEY

I'm having an issue with my 8800 GTX. My graphics are good most of the time, but every now and again the models on weapons, characters or interactable items get buggy and look very bad. I cant quite explain what it looks like, sorta like dots.
