WOW.  Great work DEVs.  Nice job.  I love seeing bug patches like that.  You might've overworked a lil on this patch, but none-the-less its all good.


If any of you feel overworked on this patch, I can understand why.  You should set a goal not to overload fixes all in one patch.  Makes it easier for you and us... DLing wise that is.

O....nice patch guys only thing is does this mean that after the final crit you defnitnatly have a cinematic? That would be swell and wont this mean that that the storyline will take three times as long presuming that this the planed future timetable for crits?>

I actually think that the spacing on the crits is better this way, I mean we're not getting a new cinematic every few days so this way it spreads out the storyline

this Broke my login ability ...


there are no longer any accept button at the server/character select so I can get into the game. It looks greyed out and if just the background placeholder is there but nothing clickable.

No its because the servers are still down due to the scrips that are running to update player abilities. The servers should be up in about 2 hours from right now according to walrusSMILEY

problem seems to be deeper than just me. other people can load their maps no problems. but.. they get the same error when trying to load spy style.

Well the bug fixes and the game altering content of the patch = very very good

the new cinematic however = horrible IMO

Are you guys getting so lazy in regards to new content that you cant even put together a real cinematic rather then a comic-book / storyboard? It just really bugs me that you cant do any of the following

A- Use the in-game engine

B- Use the in-game cinematic player (thus using Windows Media Player again assumably, and we all know how reliable that thing is with our in game radio)

C- Cant even eliminate the loading area music when trying to watch your Episode 5.1 storyboard...

are you aware of any of these problems that seemed to have surfaced with the patch?

Other than that, great work!

Just a quick final question, if we had all our abilities leveled to 50 pre-patch, then I don't need to do anything with these seperated styles, right? It's just a fix for style stacking, nothing more I assumed.

that of story board quality which had me wandering are we infact just
getting the story boards that would have been used to script the
original FMV's.



I find myself wandering why such a change "had" to be made but I am
frankly dissapointed with the results. Is this an attempt to jump on
the "sin city" "max pain" band wagon [if it is..I would say that the wagon was truely missed] ? or is it just because it is easier to do it this way.



I fear it is the latter of the Two and this kind of upsets me

It's because it was the easier way to do. Although I wouldn't bet none of the initiators/executors didn't think of Max Payne or Sin City doing them... :smileywink:

Correct, Rarebit said the old system took too long to make, and Monolith had a bigger team to do them. I for one am pleased with the new style, though. It has a much darker atmosphere and the music and voice overs were solid

I have one thing to say the new cinematic is cheesy!!!!!!! If your gonna kill one of the main characters off dont do a cheesy black and white 7 fram sketch and try to pass it off as a good idea. I'm not bashing the artist, but i want some movement besides just a camera moving. This is crap. If i wanted a comic bookin look cinematic i would go to CoH. Do us all a favor and put it back the way it was!!! Btw all my friends say the same thing and most have been here since beta along with myself.

The new cinematic is terrible. I liked the old style better. We deserve better for movie clips of the continuing storyline.

Through trying to emulate other pop-culture styles the game becomes even more detached than it already is (if that's even possible) from the movie franchise. The cinematic was really the last link the game has with the movie, and now that's pretty much gone.


How something decidedly so un-cinematic can actually be called a "cinematic" is beyond me. If you don't have enough time to make one, then I'd much rather see a text based storyline update than something else completely out of place in the Matrix universe.


And bug-wise, Hackers only do 1 damage in IL with Speed & Power tactics, and when try to use a gun get an infinite "Target out of range" message as the timer restarts over and over again.

Pre-5.1 cinematics were made back in Beta by a massive Monolith dev
team. Which no longer exists. It is simply not feasible for them to
create more cinematics of the old style because they don't have the
time, money or talent (as in no. of people) to do it anymore.



I wish people could actually realise that.

What using a closed Test server and inviting LET players to come on and
aid with the making of a cinematic is to much hassle....one day and
they could sort us out with at least 4months of cinematics...I see no

I loved going after the stackers last night, they fell so easily just like anyone else. I know I was accused and was glad that I was cleared of cheating. It's good to see pvp return to a somewhat balanced state.

This is a good sign though.


Enhanced Dodge can now be activated while Hyper Sense, Hyper Dodge, or Hyper Block are active.

Hmm, lack of people that dont have the know how to create a cinematic the resembles the old ones?  I say they shouldnt have created one if they dont have the time or the talent.  And as far as not having enough money...BS!  You cant tell me that Sony is broke and cant afford to make a cimematic that resembles the old ones.

Sounds to me like the people that are in charge of the cimematics have no clue what the matrix is about and sould be FIRED post haste.


The new cimematic looked liked they came up with a story board and then didnt know what to do next, so they decided to take the easy way out and relese incomplete work.  Sreiously, how can you have something major happen in the story line, then make such a bad cimematic for it?!


I've got to say that I, and alot of others that i have talked with are VERY VERY dissapointed and upset with this new cimematic.  So much so, I dont even know that I want to continue playing MxO!

Good update, as far as game mechanics. Lots of bug fixes, which is very good.



But, the new cinematics are pure, unadulterated crap. CRAP!


After seeing all the original cinematics, and now seeing the new one I was... crushed.


If they don't have the talent, I am sure they can find it. Sony has the money to do it.  And still, the cinematics were all rendered using the games engine, and were all pretty short, so.... I don't get it.  Using 3D studio max, I can create an original 3D Video in about a month.  This is of course, starting from scratch, making all the 3d models and animating them. 


Seeing as they already have all of the models already created, textures are all pretty much there. All they need to do is animate the models, and get the voice acting.


Which I am sure sony could easily do.


Make cinematics better, seriously

Are ranged weapon ranges shorter after this patch? I have weapons that say the range is 22m but I have to be more like 5 feet from them before the out of range messages stop scrolling by and the weapon shots.

and PS. I agree that the new cinematics are relatively lame. They are
not the matrix... and the fact that they were compared to the animatrix
makes me cry a little inside. Do something to remedy these aweful
videos please....





In anycase nice to have a few bugs fixed.... hopefully we'll see the mission timer fixed at some point too!

Same problem here, I play primarily a hacker and all it does is 1 damage while in IL.
this sucks because I need to now split into the operative branch to get some decent IL damage going.


Aside from that overall a awesome patch!

I hope you realize only one guy worked on the cinematic this time, and that one guy is the guy who is usually the one who only works on the Story itself and not the movies, and that the next cinematic will be worked on by an actual team, and that this one was a prototype, and that Niobe isn't actually dead...yet.


That's alot of things to realize. :o


All in all....good update. I'm actually able to turn on Pedestrians and Cars because of the decrease in Helicopters. Though I'm not happy about the low chance of meeting Niobites in Ueno.

Upgrade Master Upgrade is still gone after you use a hardline.
Same with Upgrade Artist Upgrade! :smileysad:

Upgrade Master is really annoying, because all the other buffs stay and you cannot reactivate it (because your buffer is full).

No one else mentioned this but it happened to me, and I found it extremely irritating. I had maxed the level on all then new hyper skills. When I first opened the game after the patch, one was at level 17 and two at 25.  It cost me 17 mil to relevel them to 50!  Went from 56 mil to 39 mil in minutes!  Very frustrating!

yes q gun needs to be fixed. as for the clothes thing, that existed even before this patch came out. and I think it is meant to be the way it is. not to mention, it isnt feasible to be able to fix it. the only way around it, would be to have the server refresh your style constantly, and that would produce major, major lag. so i think its good this way. if you want to be the best in your class, you should have clothes that help all of you buffs. not to mention the possibilities it would create in PVP. you could have a set of clothes giving thrown and viral defense, this sure would help a lot. so i think this might be here to stay.... sounds like its time to start finding some good clothes... GPS mish here i come SMILEY

Since the
day of the new update our whole entire faction on Vector has been
bugged. When i check mine or a fellow faction mates details it still
shows us in our crew and in our faction. When anyone else checks our
details, it shows as not ebing in any faction at all. None of us can
press [ or ] tp bring up crew or faction options, and cant access crew
or faction chat. We can be recruited into other factions, but once we
relog it puts us back in our fqaction and crew. There is a way u can
fix the bug as a player, join another faction then leave said faction
and remake a new one, but you wont be able to use the same name. I'm
not doing that as i want our original name.

Server: Vector
Char Name: Highs - and everyone else in the faction (The System)
Crew name: Aphex elites - and all other crews in said faction
Faction name: The System

All of us get this error meesage

im having same problem as Highs, when we go to another faction and relog, were in no faction but in the old faction it says were in their crew but offline, just wanted to give the heads up,

yes DooRDie, it is true, the faction is bugged.

During
the 44 patch implementation one of the maintainers/updaters (or all of
them collectively) sabotaged The_System's crew and faction data.

They don't like the attention that has surrounded the group and it is a low blow attempt to break the faction up.

We
aren't stupid, we know what you guys are up to. Rest assured though,
this will only make members of The_System more motivated, and
consistently angry. So it actually works better for us the longer we
are taunted.

Do you honestly think a group headed by HostileIntention is intimidated by your lame attempt?

the various people that left The System faction due to confusion or
assumptions that we have disbanded must rejoin, you can only leave a
faction if you are kicked out by a captain, or if you choose to leave
yourself. You cannot leave a faction because the people who have access
to the live server data want you to (thus is on-topic).

I'v read
all of the posts from an account named 'AuthoritySystem'.  This
account was created for the specific purpose of attempting to discredit
both factions and the people contained within, due to various reasons I
have concluded that this account does not belong to a player, and was
created specifically to work in conjunction with the faction data
locking (thus is on-topic).

I don't mean to turn this thread
into another thread about The_System, but it seems it is not myself
that has done so, it is the controllers of the data that used the patch
as a coverup for doing this community modification operation.

(or it could all just be a very specific set of coincidences)

yeah i had a friend try and invite me into his faction, it worked, then when i relogged i was back in The System and in Aphex elites, so i had him invite me again, then before  relogging i left the crew i was just invited to, then relogged, cam back and was not in any faction. so i got invited again, now im in the faction got faction chat but if u check my details it only shows the crew name and says im factionless.

Also when i wasnt in any faction at all i tried to make a crew wth someone and every crew name id try to make said it was taken, and i know the ones i use couldnt be taken. Now im in a faction  called TheVatican, and it shows me as being in 2 diff crews within said faction. Please fix this so i can return to my original faction. ie. the system

some people are slightly dissapointed that the side rolls got taken out with this patch.



I understand it was done to take care of exploit issues, but maybe there is a better way to solve those issues

rather than disabling side and forward rolls.



it would be nice sometime in the future to get these back, as they add in a bit of freedom to movement.
