While much of the patch contained changes related to the event this week, we also have some other additions like the new CCR interface. I understand we're having problems with it at the moment, which are being worked on, but give us your feedback on the update and anything that seems related to it.

Go to DN1 for detailed information on Update 36.

Were you surprised we found the hidden message so fast? :p

Did the next stage of the SOE chat integration not make it into this patch?

Event? THIS WEEK!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
#34800000212 09/28/2005 10:09:06 Re: Update 36 Discussion
Is there anyway to get Vector-Hostile to switch to just Vector, or at
least have the game recognize it so we don't have to type
Vector-Hostile. I like the sky, reminds me of home. All in all it seems
like a good patch.

#34800000213 09/28/2005 10:31:51 Re: Update 36 Discussion
Here's something that wasn't in the patch notes, and I doubt that it
was for LE purposes. Like we said, we love the long boring notes. SMILEY
They make my day.

One find:

Now, when a character uses the /jackout command, the animation is
different. Instead of being transparent, the character has a TV
snow-like effect while still being surrounded by the data discs and
such.

Otherwise, looks good. Loving the sky. Just don't forget to take it out
when the event is over. It kills RP when things still exist from old
patches after they've been played out.

Such as:

1. The Collectors for Zion, Merv, and Machine. Really folks, does anyone have these Letters anymore?

2. The green codes in the sky were there also for days after the event had ended with finding out the traitor.

But I am very happy we are using the Helo now. I was starting to think
the Devs were just lazy and it had no real stoty influence. Boy was I
wrong. LOL

Good work! Keep it up!

One minor thing that I'm not pleased with:

Stop changing my glasses!
I used to wear the nice, black ones provided by having an Archivist's book equipped. That, of course, was nerfed for some reason (confusion related to the glasses, I guess). So, I took off my Widow's Moor Lenses and started wearing plain old White Sector Sunglasses (The same as what you'd get with the book, and one of the first glasses choices in the game). That was all fine and well until I logged in this morning to find that they had inexplicably gone rainbow.

All I want, is a nice, male pair of black sunglasses. It completes my character. Now, I'm not saying we should get rid of the rainbow shades, as they're actually kind of a cool effect.

But rather than changing the appearance of an existing item, could we just keep the old version and add the new? Would that be so terrible?

I'm sure a lot of people don't care what they're wearing while they play, and they won't notice or mind this change at all... But some of us like to look a particular way, in the spirit of the Matrix, and when you suddenly change the look of certain items on us... Well, it's a bit frustrating.

This is the first time I've ever bothered to post a complaint like this with a patch. As I said, it may seem like a silly thing to some people... But hey, I pride myself in having created a certain look for my character, and I need a pair of black shades for that look. I can't believe there aren't a single pair left in the Matrix (unless you're a female of course. Their shades remain pretty cool).

Agreed!

I was mad that the Archivist Books don't equip sunglasses on you
anymore. Not only did they look cool, but it was nice to hide those
ugly Code Launchers behind them as well.

Now I need to free up another slot to buy a regular pair of those glasses.

Im
still at work so I cant jack-in but I wear those glasses as well and it
would suck if they changed them.  Can we get a clarification on
this change?

#34800000217 09/28/2005 10:51:36 Re: Update 36 Discussion
I am very pleased that SOE seems dedicated to this game. Their first
three updates have been good.  The first Zion Crit I had to start
over because I stared it in richland and the mobs were 47
::d'oh::  The crits were fun and challenging if you ran them
alone. all in all good job.

#34800000218 09/28/2005 10:51:57 Re: Update 36 Discussion

as i've stated in my other discussion post, the /ccr DOES look cool, but 90% of it doesn't work

I really don't like seeing SWG or EQ2 questions pop up on my FAQ search, and the category/subcategory feature when submitting a ticket doesn't work.  I believe now this doesn't access the old existing system, rather it is now part of the SoE archive for all it's games.  This isn't going to help problems if it links to that system.  If it could look like it does and do it's php/asx or whatever scripting it is, then it would be nice.  Else anyone searching for a faction bug has to sort through all the SWG stuff.

Also the item detail thing
Non-Tradeable is now "Cannot be given to other Characters"
Non-Sellable is now "Cannot be given to Non Characters"

Was this really necessary? Come on.  Who really needed that to explain the item in more detail

3rd item: Awakened Glasses/Jacket.  Animation still broken.  Ability to use them in the hotbar and execute without wearing them is still broken.

the answer is simple... OUTFIT SHELLS!

Is
this implemented yet?  Has soe said they would implement
this?  The answer is no and outfit shells has nothing to do with
what we are talking about.  They changed the look of our
glasses.  How is an outfit shell going to fix that?
#34800000221 09/28/2005 11:51:24 Re: Update 36 Discussion
Again, i never said i was on about the glasses being changed, i was posting in response to the archive book complaint.

And of corse no1s said shells are gonna get implemented, exactly why we should make the idea heard and understood.

Things will never change unless we make them

it would be nice if the corrupted drop would stack

#34800000224 09/28/2005 16:03:22 Re: Update 36 Discussion

The Merv crits in particular were disappointing in a way.... ***POTENTIAL SPOILERS COMING UP...***

...In that a new character was introduced for the sole purposes of the 5 critical missions, and was then destroyed at the end of them.  Sure, this helped show that the Commando's were helping the Merv, or at least appearing to help the Merv - but I personally would have prefered if this had been done by staying on track with the actual ongoing storyline, instead of creating a whole new, inconsequential storyline simply for these 5 missions.

This also appears to plant seeds of Flood's possible future dissention from the Merovingian - but again, it would have made so much more sense to implement this into the relevant plotlines - particularly when there is so much to delve into, with the Masked, the Assassin, the Red-Eyes, Neurophyte etc etc.

These crits didn't do much to tell the story or to drive it forward, which is what I see the purpose of critical missions as being.

People might say i'm complaining about nothing - but when the main draw of this game is its story, it is disappointing that the latest crits took on more of a contact mission appearance - in that nothing was of any relevance or importance, and we haven't gained any real knowledge through completing them.

#34800000225 09/28/2005 16:15:21 Re: Update 36 Discussion
Sorta patch/event related, but when will the spawns for event NPCs finally be tweaked so that *ALL* players finally have a fair chance of enjoying this event?

Take the current corrupted for example, why are they not spwaning simmilar to mission NPCs and for everyone?

They should spawn 1 or 2 for each player, only attackable by that player or any people on their team so that we *ALL* get the chance to fight them, collect the drops and at least say we've had some interraction with this event.

Three corrupted spawning for 20 players is NOT good enough. Especially not for lower level players, or non-US players who can't play during the real "live event" stuff. Fix it before the next event please.
#34800000226 09/28/2005 16:33:18 Re: Update 36 Discussion

I agree with Chuii - the LE spawns need tweaking, as now, once again - the focus of people during this event is veering towards clammoring around Mara C hoping to get a bite of the corrupted cherry.

As thankful as I am that we are finally seeing the relaunch of Live Events, I pray to god that this one does not follow the pattern of previous events, in that too much of the action revoles around Mara Central - that place does not need another reason for people to hang around there.

actually i got jumped by corrupts 2 at a time several times throughout my crits... and i was never standing around....... on the other hand. i hop over to mara c and see i'd say half the people on the erver going ape trying to kill one or 2 corrupts. freaking chaos. i sat down to wait for a crew member for like 2 minutes. wound up dead because i couldn't even tell tha ti was beign attacked by a corrupt, there were sooo many people there......... so yeah i agree with the mara c doesn't need another reason to just stand around. that was rediculous but nah it's not gonna change thru the LE. Also, althoguh it was nice to have a different venue for the missions, it would be cool to have regular non LE missions changed up a bit...  at any rate cool creepy effect on the sky and nice touch to the flyers that actually said "do not trust the frenchmen" rolling along the ground as trash.. yup i noticed that

#34800000228 09/28/2005 16:19:25 Re: Update 36 Discussion

The ambush at the beginning of the mission "Free Music" should now be made up of appropriate level enemies.

This is good to hear. Having level 30 ambush NPCs spawn for a level 10 character is a little too much to handle.
#34800000229 09/28/2005 18:58:22 Re: Update 36 Discussion
feedback on corrupted.

decaying code: make it stack PLEASE!

#34800000230 09/29/2005 01:51:22 Re: Update 36 Discussion
The random Corrupted spawns need some tweaking as well. Running around
tonight, I've seen entirely too many spawned at level 43-48. When they
are dropping and being ignored or missed by the person that they
spawned on, they hang around and gank low level players.

Since they seem to spawn when people stand around, they also have a habit of appearing around hardlines.

Coming out of a HL in richland and getting ganked by two L48 npcs is not fun.

My Patcher and I must have swept at least 5 in one area while running
missions, and there were no players over L43 around that I could see.

They need to time out after awhile. If they already timeout, they need to timeout faster.
