I'm bored...so..I'm just going to post something that I read earlier..
Version one

After the human race was defeated by the machines of Zero One, the machines performed experiments using cybernetic implants to connect human minds to computers. The first version of the Matrix into which the humans were hardwired was created by the Architect. According to him in The Matrix Reloaded, it was designed as a perfect world, with no wars, plagues, or dangers of any sort. People, due to human nature, began to reject this simulated utopian reality; according to Agent Smith, this rejection caused "entire crops" of humans to die.

Version two

Instead of the "perfection" of the first, the second version of the Matrix simulated a world more in line with "the varying grotesqueries of [human] nature", with wars, plagues and more hellish environments. It has been alluded to by pre-version three programs such as the Merovingion and Persophone that entities such as the Twins (ghosts), Seraph (angels), Cujo and his werewolves, Vlad and his vampires, as well as other "supernatural" programs are remnants of this era of the Matrix.
Much to the frustration of the Architect, this version was also a failure.

Version three

The creation of a third version was suspended until a way could be found of dealing with mankind's unpredictable nature. The solution was stumbled upon by the Oracle, a program created to understand the human psyche. The Oracle found that 99% of humans would accept the system if given a subconscious choice to accept or reject the Matrix. However, the remaining 1% could eventually become dangerous to the stability of the Matrix if left unchecked. This problem was solved by allowing this 1% to reject the Matrix and create a settlement of their own called Zion.
However, the Matrix would eventually crash, killing everyone connected to it. The machines needed something to prevent this. In order to keep the inhabitants of Zion under control, they created the concept of the One, and the Oracle disseminated among the rebels a prophecy that this person would free humanity. The One would also be instrumental in the smooth restarting of the Matrix. Before the Matrix would crash, Zion would be attacked and the One would meet the Architect, and would be told the truth about the Matrix and his following task:

"The function of the One is now to return to the Source allowing a temporary dissemination of the code you carry, reinserting the Prime Program. After which you will be required to select from the Matrix twenty-three individuals — sixteen female, seven male — to rebuild Zion. Failure to comply with this process will result in a cataclysmic system crash killing everyone connected to the Matrix. Which, coupled with the extermination of Zion, will ultimately result in the extinction of the entire human race."The survivors would be told the prophecy of the One, but would not be allowed to know of the cycle of the Matrix's renewal, each time believing it to around the year 2100 when they were revived, and the first time anyone had been freed from the Matrix.

The "One cycle" was put into effect, with the machines maintaining control of the system for five full cycles and five Ones. However, the sixth One, Thomas A. Anderson, was different to his predecessors in a way the machines had not expected. The previous Ones had all felt a general attachment to people, and had chosen to prolong the Matrix in order to avoid the extinction of the human race; Neo, however, loved a particular woman, Trinity, a hacker whom the Oracle had told would fall in love with the One. Neo rejected the rational idea posed by the Architect to save humanity and instead made the irrational decision to save Trinity from an attack by an Agent.
In turn, this led to more system crashes and the allowance for Smith, a rogue Agent corrupted and strengthed by a previous encounter with Neo, to spread throughout the Matrix like a virus. He became a threat to both machines and humans alike and so when the One struck a deal with the machines—in the form of a Deus Ex Machina—to get rid of Smith in return for peace, it agreed. Neo battled Smith, but eventually realized that the only way to win was to allow Smith to imprint over himself, enabling the machines to delete the rogue program. Peace was restored, and the inhabitants of Zion were allowed to survive.

Version four
The conclusion of The Matrix Revolutions shows a fourth version of the Matrix world, in which any people that wish to leave the Matrix are allowed to do so. The Matrix Online takes place in this version of the Matrix.

History according to "The Second Renaissance"

"In the beginning, Man created Machine, and for a time, it was good..."

Sometime between 2071 and 2075, the machine B166ER was tried, convicted, and destroyed by the U.S. for the murder of his two masters.

The actions of one machine spawned fear and a sort of racism towards all other machines. The machines of the world were persecuted and massacred by human governments, and all survivors were subsequently expelled from their home nations. The surviving machines traveled to the Mesopotamian desert, an uninhabited region of the Fertile Crescent somewhere in Iraq or Iran, and partly on the Arabian Peninsula, and raised Zero One from the ground up.

Impact on the world

After its founding and the establishment of its industrial powers, Zero One's economy began to boom. Goods produced were of a much higher quality and far cheaper than those produced by human nations since the machines could mass-produce with great efficiency. Unlike the humans, the machines' primary source of power was from the Sun.

Economies were devastated by the influx of better, cheaper products, and the value of human currencies dropped as the machine's currency rapidly gained value. Huge economic superpowers such as the U.S. and China rapidly fell into recession. The rapid breakdown of the human economies was partly their own fault on some level, as developing countries with large debts to pay off had little worries over buying and using Zero One's technology, since it was cheap and effective and buying it didn't incur more debts. However, the industrialized nations, to stave off a complete economic meltdown, instituted a naval blockade of Zero One and thereafter most countries ceased all open trade and economic ties.

The machines, meanwhile, had for years been trying to gain membership into the United Nations and establish a civil relationship with the humans. But the economic crisis convinced the UN to deny membership to Zero One.

The First Man-Machine War (2085-2090)

Nuclear bombardment of Zero One

As the crisis worsened, diplomatic attempts at resolving it collapsed and Zero One was renounced as an illegal nation-entity. War was declared by most human governments in 2085, but eventually all mankind became involved.

The U.S. began by leading other UN nations in a bombing campaign against Zero One and most of its industry. Weapons of mass destruction such as nuclear warheads, and fusion ordnance were dropped constantly on Zero One, destroying many established industrial complexes. However, once the bombs stopped dropping, Zero One was easily rebuilt and all the inhabitants destroyed were replaced quite quickly. Because of the massive amounts of resources still available to Zero One, and the never ending energy supplied by the Sun, Zero One had no trouble rebuilding its industry.

Seeing the humans as a threat to its very existence, Zero One raised an army and war was declared against all humanity between 2085 and 2086.

(It is not necessarily clear how the machines were able to manufacture and rebuild so quickly, since accordingly, any nuclear weapon or fusion bomb produces an EMP shockwave capable of permanently frying any electric powered device and rendering it scrap metal. Most nuclear devices produce an EMP shockwave whose effective range can reach for 12 kilometres in a single detonation. There is much speculation that the reason that the machines seemed un-affected is due to either superior EM-hardening on the machine troops, or the implementation of optical circuitry in their population. Neither of these explanations, however, are consistent with the Matrix films themselves, in which EMP is repeatedly deployed by humanity as their primary - according to Trinity, during the first Sentinal encounter in The Matrix, the only - weapons against the machines. It is also conjectured that the quick reconstruction of Zero One after the initial bombing campaign was because of resourcefully recycling the destroyed infrastructure.)

Zero One's ability to build huge numbers of troops gave it an enormous advantage over the humans. As their army moved in all directions, nations fell and militaries were overwhelmed. Most of Europe fell first, and then the rest of Eurasia. The Atlantics, Africas and the Americas were most likely the last demographies to put up a fight against the machines.

It was at this point that human governments became desperate. In an effort to stop the advance and push Zero One back, Operation Dark Storm was implemented. The mission was to block out the earth's sunlight, the machine's main source of power. Most of the sky over half of the world was filled with thick, indissoluable black smoke, eventually covering the entire planet. But this did not stop the machines, and only momentarily slowed them down. It was in their search for a new power source that the machines began developing the Matrix. The humans continued to fight, but by 2090, the last human armies surrendered and the last governments dissolved along with the United Nations (whose headquarters was destroyed by a nuclear weapon after a peace treaty was signed with resistance from its leadership), and Zero One became the supreme authority of earth, the Machine World City Empire.

Postwar/Continuation of the War

After the war, Earth was in complete ruin and broken beyond repair. Most of the landmass was rendered uninhabitable by the fighting and the blanketing smoke from Operation Darkstorm. The smoke, which at this point became a permanent feature of earth, completely blocked out the Sun's light and thus slowly killed off any remaining flora and fauna.

And scattered throughout the seven continents were the destitute remains of human civilization.

Of course, there were human survivors, and with them was some resistance. People tried to live in destroyed cities like Los Angeles and Washington, D.C to avoid capture by the machines. Most humans went underground and constructed the city of Zion, the last city on Earth inhabited by humans. As the machines established their full authority they began plugging humans into the Matrix. The machines of the Machine World City, which was once Zero One, had created a new world order. But the War between Man and Machine did not end.

It continued.

(Disclaimer: I didnt write this stuff.)
Rise to power

The name "Machine World City Empire" was one that the machines of Zero One ascribed themselves. After the first Man-Machine War in the late 21st Century, humanity was subdued and held merely as a battery inside a massive conglomerative computer simulation known as The Matrix.

The World City Empire was not one that physically occupied the entire Earth, but was merely spread throughout different geographical locations where differing concentrations of humans were 'plugged' into the Matrix. One can think of it as the "hardware" on which the Matrix "software" ran.

This World City Empire, with the exception of the central municipality which was Zero One itself, mainly encompassed the massive pillars of humans kept in a hybridised-cryogenic state where their biothermal and electrical energies are harvested for machine needs. Construction of this city empire began after the surrender of the last human forces in the United States and the signing of the peace treaty by the heads of the United Nations

Because the Machines had already subdued humanity in the third world war between man and machine, the governance of the World City Empire was met without any opposition. Essentially, any opposition to it had to directed via the Matrix itself, as defences surrounding the city prohibited any sort of human invasion, whether stealthily or by force.

Important Figures

The Oracle

A program who is seen as a guide to the rebels she is the personification of Intuition. The Oracle was the one to speak of a prophecy and an anomaly who would end the war by reaching The Source.

Old Oracle

She has The Sight; the ability to see the world without time. The Oracle is the mother of the matrix and is the one who discovered the need for choice in order for the illusion to work. She realizes that the best way for both worlds to progress is together. The programs Rama-Kandra and Kamala gave her termination code to the Merovingian in order to save their daughter Sati, forcing the Oracle to take on a new but similar form.

New Oracle

She embraces Sati anyways, realizing her importance, allowing her to live in her apartment. Soon after, Smith spreads exponentially, taking over Sati, Seraph, and the Oracle. After Smith is defeated, the Oracle reverts back to normal.

The Architect

Image:2architect2.jpg
He is the creator of the matrix. It is not certain if the Architect and Deus Ex Machina are the same. They are, however, unlikely to be.

The Architect's room

In his room there are television screens on the walls, which preform these functions:

  • Show possible futures (Neo's possible reactions to the Architect).
  • Show the thoughts of a certain plugged/pirated plugged.
  • Show various people throughout the world from the past and present.
  • Show one's memories of events that occured within and beyond the Matrix, and dreams (Trinity falling).
 Symbolism

The Architect is the creator of the matrix, which is essentially the world. In traditional Christian interpretations this can be something of a confusion, however there are some other ways this can be made sense of:

  • Traditional Christianity - Possible interpretation can have the architect not as God, but as God's law. The whole of the matrix has been about not allowing oneself to be bound by laws and instead to look to faith. Christians will recognise a mirroring of Paul's teachings here.
  • Buddhism - Many Christians seem to presume that the matrix must make more sense as a buddhist interpretation as an excuse not to look into Christian ideas in too much depth. Actually the matrix is very thin on buddhist ideas from what I can see. However, in this particular case we might be able to equate the architect with Maya who traps humans in Samsara. The problem with this is that Buddhists don't believe that any one person created samsara. Instead it is created by attachment and the Architect is very uncharacteristic of attachment.
  • Gnostic Christianity - As usual this religion has the best answers and we can see within Gnosticism a false God who creates the world. This is Yaldabaoth, or The Demiurge. Yaldabaoth creates the world to glorify himself and is constantly frustrated by the humans, not wanting humans to reach their full potential which will allow them to escape from his control. According to gnosticism humans are 'diamonds in the mud'.
  • Freemasonry - Freemasonry calls God the Great Architect of the Universe.
  • Software Engineering - Software Architect purpose is to represent real world process, systems behavior, etc. into computer systems by conceptual design, object oriented models and flow diagrams, as blue-prints. Programmers build the software based on that blue prints. According to the movie The Architect represents the Software Architect who designed (not built) The Matrix. All behaviors of the characters of the movies, are based on OOD (Object Oriented Design), example, Smith replicated, are instances of the same object Smith. When Neo gains the ability to fly, software engineers says that a method (funcion) has been added to the object. Agents communication between them represents object linking by interfaces, in this case, earplugs, and the sum of the behaviors of the objects represents one absolute behavior, this is called co-operation. All movies can be explained using software engineering terms.
Morpheus

Morpheus is the captain of the Nebuchadnezzar and a Master Rebel. As child, he was one of the first to eat "Zion-made bread".

The Oracle prophesized that he would find the One, so Morpheus searches for him his entire life until he finds Neo. He was once with Captain Niobe, but he was consumed by the prophecy and they split up.

Morpheus essentially sacrifices himself for Neo by fighting Agent Smith to give the crew time to escape. After being taken prisoner, he resists the efforts of Smith and the agents and refuses to give the codes to Zion's mainframe. Once Morpheus is rescued and he sees Neo begin to display his powers(and believe that he is The One), he believes the war will come to a close soon.

When the prophecy is fulfilled and Neo reaches the source but the war doesn't end, Morpheus is crushed. He is now dispirited and shipless, but his faith in Neo prevails.

He helps Niobe pilot the Mjolnir (hammer) through the mechanical line into Zion, and afterwards they become a couple again.

Symbolism
  • Morpheus is the Greek god of dreams
    • Morpheus: "Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real. What if you were unable to wake from that dream. How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?"
    • Morpheus: "You've been living in a dream world, Neo."
    • Morpheus: "The Matrix is a computer generated dream world"
    • Agent Smith (to Morpheus): "The perfect world would dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from."
    • Morpheus: "Good night, Zion. Sweet dreams."
    • Morpheus: "I have dreamed a dream, and now that dream has gone from me."

Nebuchadnezzar was a king of Babylon in the Old Testament who is haunted by nightmares. The prophet Daniel interprets his dreams: they fortell “what will be at the End of Days” (Daniel 2:2SMILEY.

  • Daniel 7:7-8 “After this I was watching in night visions, and behold! A fourth beast, exceedingly terrifying, awesome and strong. It has immense iron teeth, and it was devouring and crumbling, and trampling its feet what remained. It was different from all the beasts that had preceded it, and it had ten horns. As I was contemplating the horns, behold! Another horn, a small one, came up among them, and three of the previous horns were uprooted before it. There were eyes like human eyes in this horn, and a mouth speaking haughty words”.
  • Daniel 7:23 “Thus he said, the fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon the earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it to pieces.

The Nebuchadnezzar is Morpheus' ship and Morpheus is the Greek god of dreams. Nebuchadnezzar was the ancient king of Chaldea (Babylon). He was born about 630 B.C. and died around 562 B.C. At this time, "God's people" had become extremely corrupt and idolatrous. They ignored all of the Prophets that God had sent to warn them (2 Chronicles 36:15-16), and they refused to repent. They trusted in themselves, in the city of Jerusalem, even in the physical Temple, rather than in God. So, God, through Nebuchadnezzar, destroyed it all in order to make them realize, in no uncertain terms, that they had turned their backs on Him, much like those inside of the Matrix have involuntarily turned their back on "reality". Like King Nebuchadnezzar, Morpheus is charged with snapping the people in the Matrix and Zion back to reality.

The Merovingian

Image:2merovingian2.jpg

Frenchy, as he is so often called is the personifiation of Mind, is the "trafficker of information."

The Merovingian is a main character and is introduced in Matrix Reloaded. He plays a counterpart of Neo. The Merovingian is the husband of Persephone. He is a program who "lives" inside of the Matrix.

A program from an earlier version of the Matrix, the Merovingian holds a great deal of power and leads a group of exiled programs up in the mountains. He has a wife, Persephone, who he often cheats on,whom he forced to his side in the past, and because of past events, is forced to spend and stay half of the year with her, in his Chateau. He also has a great deal of Exile henchmen, who have based themselves and their powers off of mythological creautres, such as vampires, werewolves, and ghosts. He has survived other 'the Ones', by outwitting and outliving them(hence running away with his tail between his legs) and holds the Keymaker program hostage, possibly with hopes of stopping the reloads. The Merovingian controls the Mobil Avenue, the place between the machine world and the matrix that programs have to go through in order to reach the matrix if they are to become exiles. When Neo ends up here, the Merovingian agrees to release him in exchange for the eyes of the Oracle. Instead, Trinity holds a gun to his head and forces him to free Neo.

The Merovingian is seen in the following places

  • Le Vrai Restaurant
  • Chateau
  • Hel Club
  • L'Ecole de la Tour(The Tower School)

The Merovingian is known to have these following programs under his command

  • The Twins
  • Cain
  • Abel
  • [[Marcus, Tiger, and other Exile bodyguards(Vamps and Lupines)]
  • Keymaker
  • The Trainman
  • Rama-Kandra

He also maintains control over various exile gangs of Mega city.

Symbolism

Merovingians are an illuminati dynastic bloodline creating a new world order

The Merovingians are a dynasty of Frankish kings who ruled in parts of present-day France and Germany from the 5th to 8th century. The dynasty moved into France and northern Europe through the Franks from its dynastic namesake, Meroveus or Merovee, who supposedly had a red cross as a birthmark above his heart. The Merovingian bloodline is the most powerful of thirteen illuminati bloodlines. The Merovingian bloodline includes Charlemagne, French kings: Robert II, Philip Ist, II and III, and Louis Ist, II, VI, VII, VIII, VIIII, XIII, IX, XV, and XVI, the Medici family, Rene d'Anjou, Duke of Lorraine, the House of Lorraine, Queen Isabella of Castile and King Ferdinand of Spain, the Habsburgs, Geoffrey Plantagenet and the Plantagenet royal dynasty in England; King John, King Henry Ist, II, and III, King John, Mary Stuart and the Stuart Dynasty, King James the Ist of England, King George Ist, II, and III, Edward the Ist, II, and III, Queen Victoria; Edward VII; George V and VI; Queen Elizabeth II; Prince Charles and the British royals: Anne, Andrew and Edward, US Presidents: George Washington, John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and George Bush. Genealogical sources, like the New England Historical Genealogical Society and Burkes Peerage, have shown that 33 of the 42 presidents to Clinton are related to Charlemagne and 19 are related to England's Edward III, both of whom are Merovingians.

Morpheus speaks of "a world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth". The Merovingian personifies illuminati power, the hidden hand creating the illusion of choice. llluminati power lies in secret societies, central banks, media empires, government agencies, intelligence agencies, the drug trade, generational occult/psychic power. The machine world represents the architecture of the new world order, "If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stomping on a human face -- forever." -- George Orwell.

Christian speculation about the lineage of the future Antichrist leads back to the Merovingians, the Magdalene Heresy and the lost tribe of Dan.

The Merovingian might represent "Hades" from Greek mythology. "Persephone" was also the name of the wife of Hades. They lived both in the Underworld.

In certain Christian mythologies the Holy Grail would prove the Merovingian kings' divinity, the "eyes of the Oracle" are parallel to a means of finding the holy Grail in the old Christian stories. The Merovingian would obviously want this because like the Oracle says, "what do all men with power want?, more power"

Neo

Neo's given name in the matrix is "Thomas A. Anderson". "Neo" is Mr. Anderson's computer hacker alias.

Morpheus believes that Neo is the one who is mentioned in the prophecy. The one who will bring an end to the war Machines vs. Zionists.

Before Neo is unplugged he is an employee of Metacortex by day and sells illegal software by night. Neo keeps the software in a hollowed out copy of Jean Baudrillard's "Simulacra and Simulation". Trinity hacks into Neo's computer and print him a message on his computer monitor, a reference to "Alice in Wonderland" to "Follow the White Rabbit."

Neo is contacted by Trinity and Morpheus who free him from the matrix and out of his cocoon and take him aboard the Nebuchadnezzar.

Although Morpheus believes he would be the One to fulfill the prophecy, Neo doesn't realize his own abilities until after getting gunned down by Agent Smith. After that, he views the Matrix in code and starts to reach beyond the tip of the iceberg of his power, including the new ability of flight and stopping bullets midair.

After reaching the Architect , Neo learns that he was not meant to fulfill any prophecies. He is the anomaly of the system and all of his actions has been monitored and expected. It even turns out that he wasn't the first "One". However, Neo breaks the cycle by refusing to return to the source and returns to the Matrix instead to rescue Trinity.

After returning to the real world, Neo suddenly can sense the sentinels and is able to stop them with powers similar to what he uses in the Matrix.

The new use of these powers sends Neo into an unconscious state, with his mind stuck in Mobil Ave. (in Matrix 3). Here he is powerless as it is a place built by the Merovingian's underling the Trainman and does not follow the typical rules of the Matrix.

Trinity, Morpheus and Seraph free Neo from Mobil Ave, and Neo goes to see the Oracle one last time to get some answers. He learns that he has a connection to the source and is able to power down sentinels through this connection even if not in the Matrix.

From there, he figures out on his own that the next stop in his path is the machine city, where he makes a deal with the Deus Ex Machina for peace in exchange for stopping the Smith program.

After that, he enters the Matrix and battles Smith for the last time. Finally, he sacrifices himself, allowing Smith to take over his virtual body. Because everything has a purpose, and Smith's only purpose was to defeat Neo (which he never expected to do) Smith no longer has a purpose and so must be deleted. So the machines do this by sending the deletion command through Neo, because Neo and Smith are one and the same, this also leads to Neo's virtual death, and those who were taken over by the Smiths return to normal.

Then the Oracle tells Sati that she believes they will see Neo again.

It has now been confirmed that Neo is dead, and with his sacrifice the peace between Zion and the Machines is sealed. How long the peace will last no one knows, except maybe the Oracle. Some of the Zionists, however, believe Neo is still alive.

Was Neo human?

There is some evidence that suggests Neo was a program inserted into a human body instead of an actual human. The fact that Neo carries the prime code that must be reinserted into the Source so the Matrix can be reloaded supports this view. In the Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions the character Smith enters the body of a Zion rebel Bane and attempts to confront Neo in the real world. This proves that it is indeed possible for a program to inhabit a human body. Neo is shown to be different than the previous One's by his love for humanity. This idea is further explored in the Animatrix shorts, and Revolutions: The concept of machines evolving to feel emotions.

This may also explain why Neo's ability to affect machines extends outside of the Matrix and also why he retains some form of vision when Bane blinds him. Note that he only sees light or code that is around a machine location or entity.

Symbolism
  • Neo means "New" (Greek)
  • N-E-O is an anagram of O-N-E

•References to Vishnu: The Trinity of Morpheus, Trinity and Neo closely parallels the Hindu Triad of Gods, Vishnu (Neo) being the one who restores balance to the world.

  • Reference to Jesus Christ: Neo is prophecized Messiah; he dies and is resurrected (because of love) with abilities greater than before his death

Locations
Merovingian's castle

The Merovingian owns a castle which is not named in the movies, but which resembles the Rennes le Chateau in southern France, a region where the Merovingian Kings lived many years ago. It exists outside the Core Network, but is still linked to the Core Network via backdoors and other anomalies in the Matrix Structure. It is its own self-sustaining Domain, and thus is not affected by what goes on outside of the Domain. decades, even centuries can pass on the outside, and time in the Chateau doesn't follow suit. Within it, are backdoors and portals that are linked to other places in the Matrix, and has its own strange dimension within it, where strange Exiles(or Proxies, they haven't really discussed it), called Ant-Men; dwell here.

Hel Club

Hel Club is owned by The Merovingian. The entrance is guarded by 5 guards (exile programs), with the ability to walk on walls and ceilings.

Trinity enters the Hel Club with Morpheus and Seraph to force the Merovingian to release Neo out of the Mobil Ave.

Symbolism
  • Please compare the windows to the windows of the Zion council
  • Obviously there is something diabolic about the club. Thus Hell from Christian mythology.
  • The name Hel could also be taken from northern myth, this is what it says: Goddess of death and the underworld, daughter of Loki and Angerboda. Sister to Fenris and Jormungand. According to the Prose Edda Hel was terrible to look at, one-half of her was greenish black and the other a livid white, with flesh that seemed to be rotting like that of a corpse and her face was gloomy, grim and sinister.
L'Ecole de la Tour(The Tower School)

L' Ecole de la Tour or the Tower School, is a Domain(Matrix pocket reality, like the Chateau and Mobil Avenue) in the guise of a boarding school in the Matrix, where the Merovingian send all of the Orphans(Children Exiles who become the Merovingian's Wards) and His Henchmen-to-be to be taught in the ways of etiquette, Court Conduct(various different powerful Exiles associated with the Merovingian have and hold their own Courts), the martial arts, subterfuge, and various other skills, before he utilizes them in his schemes or trades them off to other powerful Exiles that He associates with, to serve as footsoldiers, concubines, bodyguards and the like.

Mobil Ave

Mobil Ave is a train station, an artifical reality similar to the Matrix that is passively connected to the Matrix.

It is used by The Trainman to smuggle programs from the Machine world into the matrix and is built by the Trainman. The only way out of there is by The Trainman's train. If one's try to run along the tracks from on side, he shall return to Mobil Ave through the opposite side.

The One has no power in Mobil Ave, because it is not a part of The Matrix. In fact, all Matrix-supported powers (like focused abilities used by rebels and presumably some programs) don't work in Mobil Ave. The only one with power in Mobil Ave is The Trainman. Inside Mobil Ave, The Trainman has the strength and speed of the one and his ability to shape the code. There is a chance that the power of the trainman in Mobil Ave is stronger then the power of The One in The Matrix.

It is the place Neo goes after stopping the sentinels. It's where he meets Sati and her father and mother.

Symbolism
  • "Mobil" is an anagram of "Limbo" which is a "world-between-worlds".
  • The loopback of Mobil Ave and the Loop train probably symbolize the cycle of being and its inescapability, as well as the Matrix reload cycle. There is also a theory that Neo (the sixth One) and Rama-Kandra correspond to the sixth and seventh incarnations of Vishnu, and it embellishes the idea of rebirth seen in The One cycle.
The Hallway
The Hallway

The Hallway is a virtual space beyond the normal borders of the Matrix; thus, it cannot be monitored by Rebel operators. The Hallway is in fact two hallways crossing, one of them is of seemingly infinite length, the other one (or there can be more than one) relatively short. The Hallway is painted white and has a number of green doors at both its sides, leading to distant locations within the Matrix and the Merovingian's Chateau.

Seraph, who has access (a special key) to the Hallway, refers to the doors as "backdoors for programmer access". Others who are known to have the access are the Keymaker and the Merovingian's servants Cain and Abel. Smith is believed to have taken over another program with access to the Hallway, thus gaining access for himself.

The shorter hallway also has doors on both its ends. One of them leads to a dark room which also has doors; one of them, which is opened with a very special key that only the Keymaker has and which is meant only for the One, leads to the Architect's room and finally to the Source.

It is the Hallway where Niobe and Ghost first meet the Keymaker, learning from him about the special key, which is then stolen by Cain and Abel. Through the Hallway Seraph guides Neo to the Oracle. Here Neo, Morpheus, and the Keymaker are blocked by Smiths on their way to the Source, and here Niobe and Ghost encounter Smiths when fighting their way out of the Matrix after visiting the Oracle

Metacortex

The company Thomas A. Anderson (Neo) works for as a computer programmer. His boss is Mr. Rhineheart. He must escape the agents in Matrix 1 while under directions from Morpheus on the cell phone.

Notes

Note: The name "Meta Cortex" is also spelled "Meta Cortechs"

Government building

This is where Neo and Trinity have there famous lobby shoot out, and where they rescue Morpheus

They created a devertion: by placing a bomb in the elevator and cutting the elevator cord, they made a fire in the first floor, which turned the smoke alarm on, leaving all the other floors flooded with water.

They also used the other side of the cord to reach the roof quickly, where they fought more security guards and an agent. And Neo made his first dodge against an Agent's bullets, but he wasn't fast enough. the last bullet hit him (yet left a small wound). Then Trinity shot the Agent while he was distracted by his victory over Neo.

After Tank had given Trinity a V-212 helicopter training program, she and Neo stole the V-212 that lied on the rooftop and piloted it to the floor where Morpheus was held captive. Neo cleaned it from Agents with a chaingun on the V-212 and gave Morpheus a lift back to the real world.

Zion

Zion was the last human city on the planet Earth and existed deep underground for both concealment from its enemies as well as warmth. In this future Earth, the surface was too cold and dangerous for humans to live after a catalysmic nuclear war between sentient Machines and Man hundreds of years before left the artificial beings with control over the surface.

Other than occassional trips for reconnaissance or warfare, the only humans left on the surface were confined to the Matrix -- a virtual computer world operated by the machines to keep humans docile, provide electrical power for the machine population, and the computer processing power that kept the Matrix running.

Considering the distance to the Machine City (that is located within the area of Southern Iraq or Saudi Arabia) and the relatively short amount of time it takes the Hammer to go to Zion and the Logos to the Machine City from the same start point; one could postulate that Zion is in fact underneath the historical Mt Zion near Jerusalem or within the vicinity of the Holy Land. This is possible considering the timescale involved and geographic locations that the Matrix series depicts.

The Last Stand for Humanity

Zion was cylindrical in design, composed of many different levels. The Docks comprise the top level of the city, which contained ports for Zion hovercraft such as the Nebuchadnezzar as well as the city's primary defenses. The city's living quarters, temples, and gathering spaces comprised the intermediate areas. The bottom level contained vital life support machinery such as that which supplied water to Zion's inhabitants. By the final days of the war the knowledge to repair these systems had been lost, though that also have been part of the scenario set up by the Machines everytime the city was "reset" following an appearance of The One. Unbeknownst to its human inhabitants, Zion was actually far older than they realized by about five times.

Zion was led by a Council that made all administrative decisions. As shown in the last two movies, there were other officials that report to the Council, such as Commander Lock, supreme commander of the Zion defensive forces. The captains of the various hovercraft also had some political bearing, and their crews accompanied their captains to Council forums.

The Architect, creator of the Matrix, used Zion as a control for the survival of the program in two ways. Firstly, the Machines allowed humans who did not accept the Matrix to live in the physical world at Zion without attempting to recapture them or otherwise destroy the city (which was well within their power). This had the effect of reducing dissent within the Matrix and preventing an exponentially-growing rejection of the articial universe by its prisoners. For the second control, the Architect periodically destroyed Zion and its inhabitants as part of a deal coercing The One to reinsert the programming code he carried back into the source. The alternative was a systemic failure that would crash the entire system and kill the overwhelming majority of the human population, so up until Neo's appearance, each incarnation of The One chose the smaller loss of Zion rather than be responsible for the extinction of his species.

Over time, the Matrix gradually destabilized due to the side-effects of the programming provided by The Oracle. The One ostenisibly contained the 'Prime Program," the key choice-programming code needed by the Architect. Because of the Oracle's contribution, a reloading of the Matrix code was needed approximately every 100 years. After Zion's destruction, the Architect allowed The One a small number of humans who were freed from the Matrix to repopulate Zion and start the cycle again. It is unknown if the city was physically rebuilt by Man each time or if they were given a measure of help, as evidenced by the fact that technology existed in Zion that cannot be replicated by its inhabitants.

Zion had been destroyed and rebuilt five times . The Trainman, a henchmen of the Merovingian, told the Logos captain Niobe that it took the Machines 72 hours to destroy Zion. As Neo, the 6th One, deduced in his conversation with the Architect, there were no survivors of the previously destroyed Zions that knew of the city's repeated destruction, except for the previous Ones themselves. They evidently chose not to share that information before their prerequisite deaths (which served to foretell the coming of the next One).

Despite good defense planning, Zion's defenses have never been sufficient to resist the juggernaut Machine army. The city was nearly razed a sixth time, but Neo saved it from destruction by creating a truce with the Machines which halted the attack. Zion's defense was comprised of the hovercraft fleet, the APU Corps (Armoured Personnel Unit), and a bloc of infantry that carried plasma rifles. Unlike their hovercraft, Zion defenses do not possess an EMP device, as the use of it would not only disable any Machine attackers such as Sentinels, but the Zion defense grid and the city's APU fighters as well.

After the Truce
After large numbers of humans were freed from the Matrix overpopulation became a potential problem. New recruits were sent into the tunnels on hoverbarges instead - the tunnels had become safe thanks to the new Truce with the Machines. The Zion Council also had a leader for the Zion Offensive, but that position is now obsolete with the Truce.

Recent Important Events
Race to find the One

The first major event to occur  was a "race" between the three factions to gather Neo's RSI fragments. The first faction to gather a certain number of fragments received upgraded defence statistics. Different factions won on different servers.

Morpheus has also complained that the physical remains of Neo were never returned to Zion from the Machine City (Zero One), yet cryptically, the Machines have said that they did not recycle Neo's remains either.

Red-eyed Agents

The second major event a week later was the appearance of Agents with glowing red eyes. These Agents appeared mysteriously and began attacking all humans...including those allied with the Machines. None of the three factions claimed to be controlling the red eyed Agents, and some believe they serve a new fourth faction. They attacked anyone with an RSI code fragment ("contraband fragments" ) or anyone attempting to defend them.

Later, a message from the Oracle indicated that "intruders" angered by the Truce are behind this, and that somehow Neo split himself up into fragments within the Matrix knowing that it was needed for the future. However, the only way to put Neo's code back together is with the help of programs known as Shapers. Fighting then broke out between the factions for control of Shapers, leading to the Red Eyed Agents capturing a Shaper in the confusion, which allowed them to create a new breed of red eyed agents: N30 Agents. Soon Niobe sent a message to players to fight the menace along with a new wave of agents which bore a strong resemblance to Neo.

Nightfall

The third major event, Nightfall, began with the kidnapping of two important leaders from vampire-like and werewolve-like Exiles gangs (the Blood-drinkers and the Lupines, respectively). It was soon revealed that Malphas and his Lupine counterpart Ookami had not been kidnapped at all, but were hiding from the Merovingian. Upon returning, they led a revolt of both gangs against the Merovingian's domination of all Exiles, attempting to rally many humans to their cause. However, while Malphas was absent his subordinate Invalesco attempted his own power grab against him, promising to turn humans that joined him into immortal 'vampires' with his source code. He was unsuccessful: upon their return Invalesco was hunted down and killed. Amidst this infighting, the Merovingian was able to defeat the uprising and capture Malphas and Ookami. Subjected to torture in the Frenchman's Chateau, they were (for now at least) bent back to his service out of fear, and the attacks ended.

Hunt for Morpheus

Morpheus stepped up his quest to convince the Machines to return Neo's body. By planting specially coded bombs near places where redpills were likely to gather (usually hardlines, but later on or near monuments), the bombs would detonate and, while they did no physical damage to the Matrix, spread a virus to any redpills caught in the blast. This virus was designed to reveal the underlying code, showing the bluepills the true nature of the Matrix, causing them to reject it as real, and possibly crashing the system. All organizations were out to kill him. Agents patrolled the streets, as did the Lupines and Blood Drinkers. Another mysterious group emerged during this time, called Cypherites by many, consisting of masked humans. Not only did they sabotage hardlines to trap people in the Matrix, but they also rabidly hunted Morpheus. Redpills rushed to defuse Morpheus' bombs in order to protect the truce, while others fought to protect the bombs.

On the sixth day of the ten day event, tragedy struck. Morpheus met a mysterious assassin as he set one of his final bombs in a waste water treatment plant. He fled the initial attack, only to be caught off guard when the Assassin caught up to him, apparently able to bend the rules of the Matrix as he slipped through a narrow vent in front of him. He was unable to dodge the onslaught of gunshots. Morpheus was dead.

Niobe met with leaders from the machines, who denied involvement. She later formed a faction of her own to track down who had sent the Assassin. The hunt for Morpheus' Assassin was on. Soon, exiles called Corrupted began to appear throughout the Matrix, attacking Redpills at random. It was later discovered that these programs were created by the Assassin in his own image using a "corrupted virus", meaning that the programs' bodies were composed of flies. During the chaos that ensued with the attacks, Agent Skinner, liaison to the Machinist redpills, was permanently deleted by the Assassin. Soon, Red Pills found documents on the Corrupted that were attacking them, and piecing the information together from it they learned that killing Morpheus had not been the Assassin's ultimate goal. The Corrupted were designed to destabilize the Matrix upon death, and by releasing them en masse, the Assassin hoped that Red pills killing them would completely destroy the Matrix.

The event culminated with much larger versions of the Corrupted, called Complete Corrupted, who could only be destroyed by special pesticide items. All Redpills of all organizations put aside their differences and worked together to defeat these massive programs and restore order to the Matrix. However, with the event over and order restored, one thing remains: the Assassin is still at large.

Following the permanent deletion of Agent Skinner, the Machines activated a new Agent as his replacement, Agent Pace. Agent Pace is a 'new style' of Agent, most notably in two ways. First, it is more emotionally expressive. Second, "it" is a "she"; Agent Pace is the first 'female' Agent. Pace's behavior is markedly different from previous models of Agents because she was designed to be "more human". Pace actually smiles on occasion, and behaves almost benevolently toward human redpills under her authority. A hidden message from Agent Pace can be found on the official site, in the "Sentinel" fake newspaper page, by clicking on a typo that says "fragmenting" twice; a picture of her is also there. She seems to have the odd (for an Agent) habit of falling into using Italian words frequently when she is speaking.

Choice and Consequence

The crew of the hovercraft Novalis II must try to save the life of their crewmate, Neurophyte. This scenario had alternate ending which played out differently on the separate game servers. However, with the later merger of the 9 servers into 3, it is unclear how this storyline may play out in the time to come.

Double Cross

The Cypherites, masked redpills that want to be put back into the Matrix like Cypher once did, begin a string of attacks led by Gemaskeerd and Enmascarado. In the end Enmascarado is killed by the Assassin, the Assassin releases a new flame virus, and Novalis II crewmember Toorima is revealed as a Cypherite leader called Veil, but not before she is able to kill her crewmate Vashuo.

Death of the Destroyer

An insecticide program is developed to kill the Assassin once and for all, though he splits into several copies. All three organizations team up to defeat him for good and avenge Morpheus. A new character known as The General first appears. He claims his name is General David Beatts, leader of an army that no longer has a purpose, and may be tied to the mysterious heavy air traffic of helicopters (he arrived in one).

Time for me to take a break, I will most likely post more and add onto it later...maybe even right some stuff up my self.

Again, I do not claim to have written any of the above information. Thank you.

More Characters

Ghost

A rebel aboard the Logos, Ghost's major skill is with firearms. He often snipes enemies to cover Captain Niobe as she accomplishes missions. Interested in the philosophy of William James, Augustine and Hume. He is dedicated to a higher purpose (self description). Ghost was freed the same day as Trinity and thus they refered to each other as brother and sister.

Newer Information: Ghost currently serves aboard Niobes newly reformed crew the Logos II. He is considered by most a vital member in Niobe's organization dedicated to avenging Morpheus. (Sorry, not much to say on him...I havent spoken to him my self)

Trinity
Trinity

The first mate on the Nebuchadnezzar, Trinity was told by the Oracle that she would fall in love with the One.

Trinity watched Neo for a while before they attempted to free him. Over the course of time when Neo is aboard the Neb, Trinity realizes that she does love Neo. She kisses Neo while he is jacked in after he gets gunned down by Agent Smith, causing Neo to realize he had only died in the Matrix and refuses to die.

During Neo's act to reach the source, Trinity is forced to jack into the Matrix when Soren's crew is killed before disabling the backup generator. She is successful, but finds herself in a hopeless situation against several agents and jumps out a window. Agent Thompson shoots her in the heart. Neo flies down and catches her. He successfully revives her by manually restarting her heart.

When Neo becomes trapped in Mobil Ave, Trinity confronts the Merovingian to get him out. She accompanies Neo aboard the Logos on the journey to the machine city, but dies when the Logos crashes into a machine structure and she is punctured by some poles.

Symbolism
  • Trinity = "3 in 1"
  • Trinity is an old (Egyptian) belief, marketed by the catholic church, that god can be divided in 3 parts (or persons or features or gods). One could write whole books about these trinity mythologies.
  • "Trinity" was the name of a famous atomic bomb.
    • (Ed: anyone tell us which one? The bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were called "fat man" and "little boy"SMILEY
    • Since there doesn't seem to be anything "threeish" about Trinity, most probably this bomb is the source of her name.
    • Trinity was actually the site in New Mexico (close to Los Alamos) on the Northern end of White Sands Missle Range where the first atomic weapons were tested, just before the bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were used.
  • But yet, "Trinity" is used to describe the three persons/hypostases of God (3 = unity). The connection between:
    1. The Father=Morpheus
    2. The Son (Christ)=Neo
    3. The Holy Ghost=Trinity
  • Trinty could also refer to three of the main religions of the world and referred to in the movies, Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism. There are three instances in Matrix 1 where the is a reference to God or Jesus and she responds.
Smith

Smith  plays the counterpart to Neo. Smith is the Zero Function of the Matrix. Smith is the Zero. He multiplies with others to make them also Zero.

Smith is an Arch-Agent and is first seen in  when he tries to capture Trinity with his 2 fellow agents Agent Brown and Agent Jones (of whom he seems to be the head).

Smith has a horrible sense for human life and sees the human race as a Virus. Smith makes a deal with Cypher in order to get to Morpheus. After Morpheus is in his custody, he attempts to get codes to the Zion mainframe, hoping that the destruction of Zion would mean that he would no longer have to be a part of the Matrix.

But Neo rescues Morpheus and brings him back to the Real World but before Neo can return the the Real World too, Smith destroyes the hardline, forcing Neo to either run or to fight. Neo fights Smith; a train and slows Agent Smith down, but he returns shortly and continues chasing Neo. Smith shoots Neo in, but Neo returns to life as the One and kills Smith by taking over.

After Neo Enters Smith and kills him from within, Smith is then supposed to return to the Source to be deleted, but in a phenomenon resulting from Neo's jump into Smith's body having something to do with their code getting mixed, Smith no longer feels the need to obey orders. He now multiplies as a Virus (or as a cancer), taking over more and more hosts (humans and programs) inside the Matrix, with one purpose in mind: To destroy Neo.

One of his Host-bodies is that of the Rebel: Bane, who is possessed by Smith even in Zion (= outside of The Matrix).

Smith continues to spread throughout the Matrix until it is his world, taking over such Exile programs as Seraph, Sati, and the Oracle. With the Oracle taken over, Smith gains the sight. Neo faces off with Smith (the final battle) who claims he has foreseen beating Neo. Meanwhile The Matrix continues to deteriorate and heavy rainstorms are everywhere.

Neo finally chooses to give himself up, he lets Smith take him over. By providing the Machine City with a direct link to Smith, he is deleted once and for all.

Smith's last words: "Oh, no, no, no. No, it's not fair."

Characters that have been possessed by Smith (chronologically organized)

  • everybody else in The Matrix (or at least in a huge part of Mega city)
  • Bane
  • Agent Thompson
  • Seraph
  • Sati
  • The Oracle
  • Neo
Smith Vs. Machines

In the first movie we see Smith as a program controlled by The Matrix to help it fighting against the Zionists. He has some abilities unable for humans to reach. They are used to control The Matrix. Smith has been erased, being replaced by “upgrades”. As the programs suppose to do, they return to the Source. But they can choose to go by the way of Exiles. Smith does this. Supposedly Smith is so important to the machines because he has very rare code… (Just like humans gave AI to machines) He is a way B1-66ER, the first machine to reject the humans.

What is Smith?

Like the Oracle tells Neo, he is Neo's opposite, his negative, the result of the equation trying to balance itself out. But this really does not touch the true depth of what Smith truly is.

Smith is an Arch-Agent, simply the elite of the Agents. He tells Morpheus that humans are a desease, multiplying throughout an area until all its rescources have been consumed, then moving on to the next area to occupy.

When he returns, he has become exactly what he described the humans as. A virus. He moves to an area, multiplies(clones himself), and once all the people or programs in the area have been taken over, he moves on to another area, repeating the process. This is not confined to the Matrix, seeing as how he takes over Bane's body and can enter the real world in Bane's body.

In program terms, he is not a normal virus. He is the most deadly virus of all. A worm, meaning he can operate inside and outside of the Matrix.

By his own logic, he has become the only human character in the trilogy. He does exactly what he describes as human behavior, making him a "human" so to speak.

Agent Jones

Agent Jones is an agent under smiths command

When Neo and Trinity get to the rooftop of the government building, he posseses a guard to kill Neo, Neo in turn empties a clip at Jones which Jones easily dodges. Then Jones shoots back, this is the first time we see Neo attempt to free his mind and he dodges most of the bullets. Jones is then shot by Trinity, whom he hasn't been aware of.

He seems to be the most cold-minded agent of the whole trio. When Agent Brown wants to run and help Agent Smith, who has been easily beaten by Neo in the hallway, Agent Jones stops him with his arm (we see this scene at the background) - presumably realizing that it would be dangerous, as Neo is indeed an anomaly. Both remaining agents then run away from Neo. It is unknown what happens to them next; presumably they are upgraded, given new names and new appearance.

Agent Thompson

An upgraded Agent.

thompson1.jpg

Agent Thompson fought Trinity in her attempt to save Neo and Morpheus in the key mission, because she was worried about them. Agent Thompson fought Trinity until the edge of the building and out of the window, shooting at each other while falling down. During that sequence, Trinity was shot by Agent Thompson, and rescued just before she was about to crash a car.

The Keymaker
The Keymaker

The Keymaker is the personification of Knowledge:

The Keymaker is a program designed to make keys for everything, including the programming doors and the Source. His purpose was to give Neo the key to the Source as well as tell him what to do and lead him to it.

He has been prisoner to the Merovingian for sometime before the Oracle discovers his whereabouts. Cain and Abel let him escape and then take the key meant for the One from him in the backdoors. The Merovingian has him recaptured and the key destroyed, but he makes another. Persephone leads Neo and the gang to the Keymaker. They free him and help him escape from the agents who want to delete him as well as the Twins who want the Keymaker back for the Merovingian. After he gives them instructions and leads them to the door, he is shot by many Smiths.

Sati

The "daughter" of the programs Rama-Kandra and Kamala she is the personification of awareness. Sati is a little girl scheduled for deletion due to her lack of purpose. Rama saves his daughter by giving the Merovingian the termination codes to the Oracle's outer shell. In exchange, the Merovingian has Sati smuggled into the Matrix through Mobil Avenue. She is put under the care of the Oracle and the protection of Seraph. During her stay with the Oracle, Smith spreads and takes over everyone, including Sati. After Smith is defeated, Sati reverts back to normal in the streets of the matrix. She causes a sunrise in memory of Neo.

It's interesting to note that "Sati" in the Hindi language is the act of a wife cremating herself on her husband's funeral pyre, sacrificing herself to fulfill her true role as a wife. I'm not sure what this says about Sati's role in the Matrix, but it raises some interesting notions, particularly the idea of making the ultimate sacrifice in order to accomplish what's expected of you.

"Sati" in Sanskrit means "being", and it is this meaning that is probably intended. Many Buddhist and Hindu meditation groups refer to sati as a state similar to nirvana, ie, the ultimate transcendence. This alludes to a Buddhist philosophy about meditation, how one should stop resisting one's negative impulses in a meditative state to control them. In the same way, Neo stopped fighting Smith (his "opposite", his dark half) and gave in to him, thus saving the Matrix. As long as the two fought each other, neither could win. As soon as Neo stopped acting and simply "is", he defeated Smith and Sati could have a place in the world.

Rama-Kandra
Rama-Kandra

Rama-Kandra is a program designed to be the systems manager for recycling operations at the power plant which relates to reincarnation. He and his wife Kamala have a daughter named Sati who is scheduled for deletion due to a lack of purpose. Rama-Kandra believes in karma and love. He is able to love his daughter and wife although he is not quite programmed for such emotions. In order to save her, Rama sells the deletion codes for the outer shell of the Oracle to the Merovingian. He does this at the Le Vrai restaurant, where Neo watches Rama-Kandra being led out as he enters. In exchange for the Oracle's codes, Sati is smuggled into the matrix through Mobil Avenue where she will be put under the care of the Oracle. Rama encounters Neo in Mobil Avenue when he is awaiting the Loop train to pick them up.

Symbolism

'Rama-Kandra' is most likely derived from Ramachandra, who is the seventh incarnation of Vishnu in Hinduism. Vishnu is a form of God, for Vaishnavas, He is the only Ultimate Reality or God, as is Shiva for Shaivites. In Trimurti belief, He is the second aspect of God in the Trimurti (also called the Hindu Trinity), along with Brahma and Shiva. In Hindu mythology Kamala is an incarnation of the goddess Lakshmi, the eternal consort of the Supreme Lord Vishnu. There is a theory that Neo's meeting with Rama-Kandra symbolizes that he is Parashurama, the sixth incarnation (as he is the sixth One).

Kamala

Kamala is the wife of Rama-Kandra and the mother of Sati. She is a program, a highly creative interactive software programmer. She meets Neo in Mobil Avenue, where they are awaiting the Loop train to arrive to take their daughter Sati into the matrix.

In Hindu mythology Kamala is an incarnation of the goddess Lakshmi, the eternal consort of the Supreme Lord Vishnu.

The Trainman

The Trainman is the personification of Time which is controlled by the Merovingian who represents the Mind. The Trainman built Mobil Ave and controls the Loop Train that goes from Mobil Ave to the Matrix. Mobil Avenue is used to smuggle exiled programs into the matrix.

Niobe meets the Trainman in a train station right before she jacks out after saving Axel. Trainman tells her that Zion lasted exactly 72 hours in the last reload cycle.

While smuggling the last exile, Sati, into the matrix, the Trainman discovers Neo has ended up in his domain. Neo tries to threaten the Trainman, but the Trainman punches Neo into a wall, demonstrating that this place is separate from the matrix and follows his rules. Trinity confronts the Merovingian and forces him to free Neo, so the Trainman brings him back to the matrix.

Equipment

The trainman has 7 different watches on his left arm, which he uses to time the trains in the matrix. He is armed with a Revolver that is located the left pocket of his long coat.

Symbolism

The Trainman is the personification of Time. He is controlled by the Merovingian who is the personification of the Mind. His situation is reminiscent of Charon from Greek myths who sailed souls across the river Styx to the afterlife (hell mostly).

He also symbolizes the role of a firewall for The Matrix in the computing sense, restricting and controlling the flow of data (programs such as Sati and 'people' such as Neo)

The Twins
The Twins

The Twins are a pair of identical albino programs with the ability to become transparent and ghostlike, allowing them to glide through everything. After going into ghost-mode, any injuries they may have had are instantly corrected. They are exiled programs and serve the Merovingian. They attempt to retrieve the Keymaker for him, but fail when Morpheus blows up their car and sends them flying.

The Twins used the "Heckler&Koch UMP 45" scoped submachine gun to shoot at Morpheus' car on the highway.

Notes

The twins are hard to tell apart but it isn't impossible. Looking closely, Twin One can be seen to have a lighter colored collar than Twin Two.

Also an interesting note, the twins seem to fight as one, in constant knowledge of each other's movements. They also speak in the plural sense, as is evident by the quotes "we owe you for that" and "we are getting aggrivated..." "...yes, we are." a well as other lines that they say.

Characters Continued.

Cain

Cain and Abel are two of the Merovingian's henchmen. They are from an older version of the Matrix and resemble creatures from Vampire and Werewolf myths due to their resilience to death by anything other than a silver bullet. They want to use the key designated for the One for their own purposes. They leave the Keymaker's prison door unlocked and follow him into the hallway of doors, where they steal the key made for the One at gunpoint. Abel gets cold-footed and tells the Merovingian that they have the key, who destroys it. Persephone later leads Neo and the gang into a room where Cain and Abel are watching a Vampire movie. Persephone shoots Abel in the head with a silver bullet and allows Cain to run to the Merovingian to tell him what she has done. When Cain returns with the Merovingian, Neo fights him along with other thugs. Cain gets thrown into a statue at the very beginning of the fight, taking him out of commission.

Symbolism

  • In the Bible, Cain and Abel are the two sons of Adam & Eve. They both were the first occupationers: Abel was a sheperd and Cain was a farmer. Cain killed Abel out of a jealous rage, because god took Abel's secrifice but didn't take Cain's. Although Cain and Abel are 2 figures from biblical stories it can not be assumed that the Cain and Abel of the Matrix movies are brothers.
  • It is believed that Cain and Abel are lycanthropic (were-wolves) programs, because Persephone was aiming them with silver bullets insted of regular ones. Silver is believed to be the only way a weapon can kill a werewolf as they will nearly-instantly start to heal from any other sort of inflicted injury. The other methods are to behead them or, as is told of more European were-wolves (who peel off their wolf skins during the day to pass as human) to take their skins and burn them.

Mouse

Mouse

The youngest member of the Nebuchadnezzar crew, Mouse is the personification of sexuality. Mouse makes programs for the training systems and ponders the important questions such as how the machines knew what Tasty Wheat tasted like. He enjoys the 'company' of the woman in the red dress he created for a training program. Mouse finds out too late that the system had been altered due to Cypher's betrayal and finds a brick wall where a window should've been. He goes down in a blaze of glory firing at the enemy soldiers.

Cypher

Cypher is a rebel aboard the Nebuchadnezzar who regrets taking the red pill. He has operator skills and is able to rig an automated program to allow himself entry into the Matrix in solitude. There he meets with Agent Smith in and makes a deal to be reinserted into the Matrix in exchange for the delivery of Morpheus.

This is the conversation they have:

  • Cypher: "You know, I know this steak doesn't exist. I know that when I put it in my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious. After nine years, you know what I realize? Ignorance is bliss."
  • Agent Smith: "Then we have a deal?"
  • Cypher: "I don't want to remember nothing. Nothing. You understand? And I want to be rich. You know, someone important, like an actor."
  • Agent Smith: "Whatever you want, Mr. Reagan."
  • Cypher: "Okay. I get my body back into a power plant, you insert me into the Matrix, I'll get you what you want."
  • Agent Smith: "Access codes to the Zion mainframe."
  • Cypher: "No, I told you, I don't know them. I can get you the man who does."
  • Agent Smith: "Morpheus."

Cypher sets up a trap for the Nebuchadnezzar crew after Neo's meeting with The Oracle. Cypher is the first one out of the Matrix and uses a plasma rifle to fry Tank and Dozer. He then begins unplugging the rebels one by one, leaving them dead. He kills Apoc and Switch, but before he unplugs Neo, Tank takes the plasma rifle and shoots Cypher down.

Symbolism

  • Chypher's character can be interpreted as:
    • Satan (He's Evil, and he has this mustache/beard that is similar to the mustache/beard of satan in many artworks
    • Judas (betraying the Christ=Neo)
  • "Cypher" sounds similar to "Lucifer"
  • "Cypher" is another word for "void" / "zero" / "nil" / "not real" / "not entity"
  • Since "decipher" = "decode, then "Cypher" could mean "encode", because keeps the Matrix alive rather then de-code (= destroy) it.
  • Cypher wants to be an actor, someone important in the matrix. and he also wants to remember nothing. President Reagan (recently deceased) was an actor before he ran for presidency and he also got Alzheimer's disease so at the time when the movie was released he would be losing memories (Cypher says "I want to remember nothing!"SMILEY. Cypher's name is "Mr. Reagan".
  • When Cypher is talking to Neo, it's like Satan is talking to Christ, giving him booze and bad advice to keep him from his destiny of salvation:
    • Cypher: "A little piece of advice. You see an agent, you do what we do. Run. You run your *CENSORED* off"

Councillor Hamann

Hamann is a councilor on the Zion council. He and Neo have trouble sleeping while at Zion, so they go to the industrial level and have a conversation about control. He later clears the Nebuchadnezzar to enter the Matrix so they could contact the Oracle, despite Commander Lock's wishes.

The Kid

The Kid is a teenager who has dreams of falling. Neo talks to him through computer chats and he deeply believes in him. At his school, agents come for him and he goes on the run through the building, using his skateboard. He finds himself climbing up the side of the school, but the agents wait for him on the roof. He jumps and his belief is so strong that he wakes up in the real world (the only known case of self-ejection out of the Matrix). He believes Neo had saved him, when he had really saved himself.

Now he follows Neo around and wants to join the Nebuchadnezzar crew. He volunteers as a soldier in the battle for the dock and is given the position of APU ammo reloader. He is sent in when Captain Mifune runs out of ammo. He manages to reload Mifune's APU despite a temporary jam in the ammo cartridge, but fresh ammo is not enough to save Mifune from a swarm of sentinels. With his last dying breath, Mifune tells him that he must open gate 3 to allow the Mjolnir to enter. He takes Mifune's APU and pilots it over to the gate to shoot out the counterweights. When the war ends, He runs to the temples to inform the rest of Zion.

His name before he escapes from the Matrix is "Michael Karl Popper".

New Information: "The Kid" is currently an operative inside of the Matrix, it is widely believed that The Kid is the leader of a suspected organization E Pluribus Neo, recent survailence photographs seem to confirm this.

Commander Lock

The commander of Zion's military, Lock doesn't believe in prophecies and has a serious bone to pick with Morpheus. Lock is known as Deadbolt to the captains due to his reputation as a hardass. He and Niobe are currently together, though she is drifting away from him and he knows it. He tries to keep all the ships at Zion in order to perform a counter attack against the oncoming sentinel army, but the Council allows the Nebuchadnezzar to go to the Oracle and later allows the Vigilant and the Logos to search for the Neb. Lock's attack may have worked if Bane hadn't triggered the EMP early.

Lock is one of the few characters in the real world who has a first name - Jason.

Many of the Zionists and freed minds call him Deadbolt behind his back.

Personal Opinion: Commander Butt-Chin as he is so often called could fall off  the face of Zion tomorrow and no one would care.

Niobe

Morpheus' former lover, Niobe is the captain of the Logos. Once Morpheus became obsessed with the prophecy and finding the One, Niobe split up with him and eventually hooked up with Commander Lock. Their relationship is faltering as Niobe begins to realize that she still has feelings for Morpheus. She is considered the best pilot of the Zion fleet. Niobe and Ghost are responsible for getting the transmissions from the Osiris that show the oncoming army. Lock had the council put all the ships in the sentinel counter attack except for the Logos, because he said that it being the smallest ship, it would have the weakest EMP. Niobe knows that this isn't true and is angered that Lock would do that, so she volunteers to look for the Nebuchadnezzar when the council requests for 2 ships. She aides them in saving the Keymaker by catching Morpheus with her car when he falls off of the truck. She later takes out the power plant to shut down the security systems on the building that contains the door to the source. After exiting into the real world, swarms of sentinels threaten the ship, forcing the crew of the Logos to fly into uncharted areas where they become stranded after using their EMP on the sentinels. Later, on Revolutions she helps Neo reach the Machine City by letting him take the Logos.

New Information: It is widely assumed that Captain Niobe and Morpheus were back together at the time of his demise. Currently Niobe is the leader of her own organization inside of Zion nick-named by some "Niobes Vendeatte". The organization is devoted to get revenge on Morpheus' killer. She is the captain of the newly reformed Logos II, her communications officer is Merrit.

Symbolism

  • "Niobe" is a Greek mother who bragged she and her children were better than the gods. The gods punish her by slaying all of her children and turning her to stone.
  • It is also an anagram of the word "Ebion". The Ebionites were a group of people who believed that Christ was special but denied that he was the son of God.

If  any of you have important information on story-related characters(Be it player event or LET) please submit them to me VIA PM and I will post them and give credit to you, thank you.

I am going to go to sleep now ^_^; Unless the mods/players find this annoying I will continue to add to this topic.

Basically, I am just doing this for people to be able to recap things without rewatching all three movies and the Animatrix and such. And for people who have not seen Animatrix.

Just think of it as Dridiens little archive of information eh?

Please, feel free to post comments if you like.

Indeed, MtrWhite is human.

I poked fun at him for making assumptions, and how that was un-Machine-like.  And he said he wasn't a Machine, but a human being.

Programs of the Matrix(Player, LET, or such):
(Written by Me)
The Tailor
The Tailor is one of the first machine programs involved in the creation of the Matrix. Sources indicated that he is a peaceful program, though he chose exile over deletion for reasons I am unsure of. He currently does not have alliegence to any of the organizations reports have claimed that he has not yet finished his work.
Gate Keeper 00134
The Gate Keeper 00134 is a variation of the Gate-Keeper program. She was created to relieve some of the work load from the Agents(Gate Keepers). Her primary task is the disposal of exiles within the Matrix. She is loaly to the system to the very end and has her own understanding of Life and Death, Creation and Deletion. She is highly dedicated to her job and information points that her programming does not permit combat against the Redpills.
Mr. White
(No Image)
Mister White is the machine liason to Agent Gray, he contacts the Machine operatives and really nothing more then that. I do not have any information regarding this programming beyond that, he is witty and sarcastic at times and has a funny sense of humor.
Ookami

Ookami is the leader of the Merovingians lupines. She and Malphas attempted to have a rebellion against The Merovingian which failed horribly, it ended with Ookami and Malphas being tortured back into the service of the Merovingian. Ookami is known for being more then a little violent and a bit of a **bleep** at time. She seems to be the heart throb of red-pills from every organization. I have had the pleasure of standing watch over a couple of her meetings.
Agent Gray

Agent Gray is the controller for the Machine Organizations. All machine operatives recieve their orders from him or Agent Pace. He used to work with Agent Skinner before Skinner was deleted, Agent Gray was one of the agents that were taken over by Agent Smith. Gray still suffers from the side-effects of the take-over as was shown on the Vector instance of the Matrix. Agent Gray can be considered an 'Arch-Agent' being as he seems to be the head agent. He is very dedicated and efficent at maintaining the Matrix and the truce, when he isnt going crazy anyways.
Agent Pace

Agent Pace is the program that replaced Agent Skinner when he was deleted. Pace was the resualt of what the Operatives wanted in their next Agent. Suprisingly, Agent Pace is one of the few agent's who seems to express actual human emotion. She has been known to dance and hug operatives, Pace is the Latin/Italian word for 'Peace'. She seems to be rather fluent in the italian language her self, Pace was created for Human-Machine Relations which is why she is probably one of the most human like Agents. She also seems to be the heart throb of Red-Pills right up there with Ookami, personally Pace is my favorite Agent.
Agent Skinner
Saddly, I do not know much about this praticular Agent. What I do know however is that Agent Skinner had always been there to keep Agent Gray under-control, now that Skinner has been deleted Gray is suffering more from his Smith-Like out-bursts. Agent Skinner deleted him self when he had become infected by the Assassins virus.
(More to come later!)

Um...this is the 7th version of the Matrix.

And why would you give such credit to alt players like TheTailor? Don't write their name into the already written storyline.

-sigh- Please, the next time you choose to be a critic get your facts correct on what I am doing...that is always helpful. You are wrong, this is only the 7th version if you count using the Archetics calendar(By the Anomaly) but in that case this is really the 9th Matrix because the One was not introduced untill the third version, as the calendar states. 1st Version, Utopia. 2nd Version, More bruteish. 3rd Version, Choice(and the one), 4th Version(Where we are now.)

As for The Tailor it does not matter if he is an Alternate, WE ARE the storyline incase you have forgotten. He is currently a program residing on the Recursion instance of the Matrix thus he was mentioned.

That it? Ok!

"You are wrong, this is only the 7th version if you count using the Archetics calendar"
Oh you mean the guy that created the Matrix and knows everything about it?
"the One was not introduced untill the third version, as the calendar states"
When was that ever said?
The Architect clearly said that Neo's version was the sixth. If this was only the fourth, which versions were the other 5 Ones in?
"As for The Tailor it does not matter if he is an Alternate, WE ARE the storyline incase you have forgotten."
In case you didn't know, our storyline writing starts after the movies. He may claim to be a creator but this just a player's claim, not the official matrix storyline, which contridicts this guy's claims. My role playing character is a machine program that created the One's power, should you write that in there too?
BLEH!

Well the versions thing had already been explained, so I wont waste my typing and beat a dead horse, if you don't get it, you're not going to get it and the cause of understanding that is lost on you.

As for TheTailor and the matter that you brought up, those are two extremes. TheTailor is a fluent character who articulates his ideals and messages very well. As he puts it himself, he is "but a simple tailor". So what if he helped in creating the matrix? Many machines/programs aided in the creation of the Matrix. If he wants to play that out I say let him. Being a program previously involved with the creation of the Matrix, but now wanted for deletion, he doesn't interfere with the logic of the movies or the current flow of events. He's just filling in one of the numerous "blank" faces of the creators of the matrix.

If you were the program that created the powers of the One, everyone would run up to you asking to be ubar1337, and you would tip the power balance in the matrix with that ability, or the ability to bestow that ability. "A simple tailor" program who is now an exile has only as much weight in the matrix as the average redpill. If you understand.

Why mention TheTailor? He has created an intriguing storyline and drawn the community together. When something piques your interest, be it player operated or LET operated, it is noteworthy, at least in my opinion.

#23900002460 02/12/2006 00:33:12 Re: The Matrix: History
Hmm..

1 version of the Matrix: Paradise.

1 version of the Matrix: Hell

6 Ones.

Neo

This one.

I will complete the programs list tomorrow! I promise.
Ok...We..w/e your name was again.

The Archetic said PERSONALLY I count from the imergence of one anomaly to the next. In which case this is the 6th version, if there were 5 ones before Neo.

And of course there was the Heaven & Hell versions(which failed) that would of made it in the Movies the 8th Version, not 6th.

Basically

Version 1- Heaven
Version 2- Hell
Version 3- Choice, requires a chronological system re-boot via the One
-The One, One
-The One, Two
-The One, Three
-The One, Four
-The One, Five
-The One, Neo
Version 4- The version we are in now.

Wait wait wait. I'm sorry you must be confused.

You think the machines made a Hellish version of The Matrix before they made the megacity type one?

The version made after the paradise one is what we have now. "Thats why the Matrix was redesigned to this.." to quote Smith, talking about the paradise version and the version now.

I don't know why you seem to think theres four versions. I'm really confused as to why you think that the 7th Matrix (the one we're in now) is a seperate version all on its own. Why is that? Whats different after Revolutions than before it besides the truce and a pretty sky every seven days? Besides, Monolith threw in "v7.xxxx" as a reference to the seventh version of the Matrix in the EULA.

#23900002463 02/16/2006 19:23:46 Re: The Matrix: History
There first began with a paradise that we all know failed. Then the existence of the hell version explains the existence of the twins, cain and abel, and other programs that are all personifications of mythical and supernatural creatures. That version was created in chaos and also probably was not accepted in mass quantity losing crops of humans. The third version is where the oracle allows for the illusion of choice for humanity but the only way this could happen is if there is an X factor. An anomally that periodically must be rejoined to the source to reset the matrix. Up until neo he was the 6th version of that. The reason that this is a version 4 is because the matrix was not reset and has thus brought the matrix into a new age. It is symbolic because in the anomalies choice to not join to the source it allowed for the breaking free of systems. We now exist in a multi organizational awareness of what goes on around us and further people are being awoken everyday breaking free of that system.
When Neo is speaking to the Architect we find that this is the sixth instance of the one. No one told him because no one knew. This allows for there to be Matrix existence before the one. There was a previous thread on this that stated that there could have potentially been hundreds of matrixes before the instances of the one came about. (Some proof of this lies in one of the Pandoras missions but I forget which)  But it is more likely that there were only two. One of paradise and one of chaos because in either situation natural human tendency would not allow for acceptance of it. This is why the third allows for a pleasant combination of the two into the illusion of choice to make your own destiny based on either a chaotic or a non-chaotic nature. In doing so this means that the equation that the Architect is solving is the choices of everyone. A choice of chaos is vs a non chaotic choice each one turned into a mathematical equation of probability and reasoning solved and then counted by  the Architect.
Each choice is brought into awareness by the Oracle and chosen by bluepills/redpills/whatever. The  Oracle's job is to know how to get you to make the choice as well because she knows what surroundings are needed to have you make that choice. What environment is needed in terms of what personality. For example, Neo was not confident enough to believe that he was the one, so she lied to him and then told him the truth about the loss of Morpheus so that his convictions would force him to carry out his destiny. (In a very semantic way it was not a lie because at that point he was not the one...only after he died did he truly become the one.....he began to believe it when he fought Smith but like i said it was when he died.) She only helped provide the surrounding....though people freed had a hard time believing in destiny it WAS fate that lead him there. Exactly as fate led three ships to the key missions. Over time fate becomes acceptable and people submit themselves to not caring whether it exists or not and that is when it takes over.
As for what is written in the EULA remember when the Architect says that he counts the matrix from the emergence of one Anomally to the next? Jacking into the matrix now is now an acceptable thing among the machines. The matrix we jack into is run by the machines so therefore the programming would be run in terms of what the Architect wrote withint the base equations of the matrix. We hack those base equations to get in so we see what he writes. If you look on a more general scale you get to see that counting the Matrix instances exist beyond the anomally by atleast one (paradise) if not more.
Lastly, Smith only mentions the paradise version of the matrix to this one because the machines understand one thing. They understood that to make the truth serum (or whatever Morpheus was being hacked with) work they had to demean everything Morpheus stood for (humanity) to break his spirit to get the Zion codes. Not to mention they also know from the way they function that knowledge provides power over your adversary. So why would they reveal the whole truth if they can find a way to benefit themselves by knowing the whole history of humanity until now. Whereas humanity lies focused on piecing it together from bits and pieces of information dangled from their claws which partially distracts them and may cause humanity to fumble up.
One thing to remember here is that the machines being AI only became as good as they did on the simple fact that they accumulated knowledge and learned from it.The existence of the matrix does the same. Each time it exists it learns from it's existence and learns. So in the first two versions it tests the parameters from both extremes the very good vs the very bad. When they come up with the version of choice even that you must know refines itself. In the emergence from one anomally to the next each time it learns based on the RSI it inhabits and the experiences it goes through. Because the anomally experiences love in a very specific way this time it allows itself to become free of the system. Each time it emerges it may not consciously remember that it previously existed but the learned experience is still there. This finally lead up to the first instance of being free from the system under choice. Maybe it should have gone

Version 1- Heaven
Version 2- Hell
Version 3- Choice, requires a chronological system re-boot via the One
    3.11-The One, One
    3.12-The One, Two
    3.13-The One, Three
    3.14-The One, Four
    3.15-The One, Five
    3.16-The One, Neo
3.2- The version we are in now. (Freedom of the system by choice and existence in awareness).
Anyway, those are my twenty five cents.....

I like ColdGreenStatic's version best.  But anyhoo...

Here's an idea I've suggested before that no one's asking for then or now...

The Merovingian was created during the later stages of the "Hell" Matrix to act as a proxy for what would in later versions be "The One".

That is to say, his purpose was to soak up all the "distinctly human" experiences of living as the machines saw them.  Hence his sensational obsessions.  Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Wrath, etc.... these are his programming by the machines so that he may accumulate knowledge of what the hell humans want that machines don't.

Obviously it didn't work and he became an exile program.  However he was by nature obsessive so he managed to survive and hasn't since stopped in his quest for power.  His identity as a program and further a REJECTED program helped develop his jaded obsession with Causality.

It's just an idea but it explains why he is so powerful, why he hangs out in a fetish club and bangs bluepills in the bathroom, and why Persephone tells Neo, "He used to be like you"!

We created the machines as a poor simulacrum of life and they in turn created him as a truely warped version of their own. ;-}

#23900002465 02/17/2006 19:28:45 Re: The Matrix: History
Please people try and keep the topic semi-clear of useless chatter, I made a History: Discussion topic awhile ago...Onto business.

Factions(By order submitted)(All information compiled by their respective factions, this will be IC/OOC it doesnt matter)
Prophets Of the Martyr
Prophets of the Martyr, has quite a ring to it, eh?  And now you're looking for the reasons it was formed...other than the obvious facts.  Well, I suppose I could explain a little bit, but I'm sure you already know most of what I'm going to say anyhow.  You see, during my life as a bluepill, I've spent quite a lot of time researching this fabled 'Morpheus,' that was all over the news as the hugest terrorist.  I must admit, that I've taken quite a liking to him after all my studies.  He seemed to have been… driven, by something more.  His acts weren't about terror, but his acts had a passion in them, his true belief in something…

As I learned about much more, due to becoming a Redpill, I discovered that passion.  This 'Martyr' who had saved Zion, and the entire human existence, bringing peace between man and machine, ultimately allowing the new awakenings that appear before us today.  I was inspired, to tell you the truth.  I was one of the first to be pulled out of those tubes, and was around when Morpheus still was within Zion. I listened to his words, and the more I listened, the more I believed.   knew that the past was only a taste of what was to come, and I wanted to spread the truth to the other redpills in one form or another.  Forming the fleet 'Prophets of the Martyr' was one of the few ways that I could see to doing so.

So, all I needed then was some crew members for my newly refurbished hovercraft dubbed The Oriate, which was a beauty.  Modeled directly after the Logos, she was fast, furious, and a hell of a ride.  My apologies, I am getting off track.  So, I formed a crew of some spectacular redpills.  I will not state their names due to their own safety, as some of them are still amongst us today.  After the crew was formed, I ran across another Captain.  Captain Jacka1, a brave man who's courage shone through his… lesser, qualities.  Nevertheless, he felt just the same as I did about Morpheus' views, and the Martyr.  He and I agreed on forming a fleet flying under that banner, and thus, the Prophets were born.

From then on, we began flying mission after mission in the name of Morpheus, and the 'Martyr.'  Never straying from our beliefs, and knowing to never let our guard down against those damned Machines.  There have been many times where Morpheus himself, even after his disappearance, noticed our work, and gave us congratulations within the Matrix itself, safe from Lock's reach.  We took pride in being an example for him, knowing that it was our original plan.  As far as spreading the beliefs of the 'Martyr,' I can truly say that we've gained quite a number of believers.  Not just due to our efforts, but from other fleets as well.  Things were looking magnificent for the first few months of the fleet.  But all things never stay so...

Four months had passed since the forming.  The faction was running strong, but there was a problem… Captain Jacka1's personality clashed with my own.  We've got into a number of arguments about the way that the fleet was being run.  After a certain argument, Captain Jacka1 resigned his Hovercraft from the fleet, and ended up taking his own life in regret for doing so.  This split the faction in two... those who were sympathetic to Jacka1's views, and those who were sympathetic to my own.  Both sides ended up going their own ways, but the Prophets now laid solely in my hands.

The first action that was instated was a captains' council.  Where we all pooled ideas together towards the fleet.  After a while, everything became back to normal, and from then on, the fleet has been as strong as ever.  But there is one last thing I must cover before I end this, my resignation...

As strong as the fleet was, I was beginning to get these strange feelings… feelings as if this isn't what I was meant for.  I formed an amazing fleet, led them through all that The Matrix threw at us, but I still didn't feel complete.  I had to set off on my own journey, to discover my true feelings, and my true identity in this digital  world that we now live in.  I left the Prophets in the hands of my most trusted Captains, and gave the Oriate over to the best First Mate anyone could ask for.  I had strong faith in them that they could lead this fleet in any direction they wished, and they did, as it still is just as strong today as it was when I was flying with them.  Fly strong, my Prophets, and follow the 'Martyr' until we all cease to breathe… farewell.

The Enigma Directive
The Enigma Directive dreams of a day when human and machine will work together to restore the real world and replant life in the desert. In some fashion we'll build a new method to generate power in order to finally turn off the Matrix and free the rest of the human race. This will not be easy but it can certainly be done.

Although we are a faction of Zionites, we don't trust Commander Lock. He appears completely sold out to the machines which is fine in maintaining the truce, however, at what price will he retain it? He remain oblivious to the strange circumstances surrounding the machines' refusal to return Neo's remains, and has openly praised the "fall" of Morpheus. These two were instrumental in bringing the peace that he so much covets.

Our history runs deep and we're currently celebrating an anniversary. A timeline of this can be found in the following thread:

http://mxoboards.station.sony.com/matrix/board/message?board.id=general&message.id=78629

The history of The Kings of Never

The Kings of Never were first forged back during the Beta phase of The Matrix Online in 2004.

Having experienced every live event that has taken place within the Matrix, they remain one of the largest, longest-standing Zion factions within the MxO community to date.

A brief summary of the Kings' accomplishments is as follows:

  • Recovered hundreds of RSI fragments for the first live event, The Race to Find the One.
  • Assisted in the capture of Invalesco during the Nightfall live event.
  • Personally met with Morpheus and attempted to stop the Assassin during The Hunt for Morpheus live event.
  • Became close associates with Al3xandra and Sawayaka of the Novalis II, leading into the Neurophyte incident.
  • Assisted in recovering Neurophyte's body during the Choice and Consequence live event.
  • Ran missions with Lelan of the Novalis II.
  • Individually recognized and responsible for the capture of Toorima/Veil on the Iterator server during the Double-Cross live event.
  • Attracted the presence of both Seraph and Agent Pace during KoN-sponsored events.
  • Assisted in the removal of the Assassin from the Matrix during the Death of the Destroyer live event.
  • Personally recognized in person by Niobe for our teamwork and accomplishments shortly after the Assassin was destroyed.
  • Discovered the secret behind the Cryptos boxes during The Enigma of Cryptos event, and personally recognized by both Niobe and Agent Pace.

The Kings of Never continue to leave their mark as they make Matrix history. Will you be a part of the next chapter of their story?

The way of The Kings of Never

The Kings of Never strive for excellence as their duty as soldiers of Zion. A soldier of The Kings of Never always live by their credo: "Strength and Honor in the Name of Zion."

Above all else, The Kings of Never fight for humanity. They believe in a better life for the human race, and are willing to work with others to achieve that goal.

As protectors of the Truce, The Kings of Never often find themselves in situations where they are either assisting or being assisted by their Machine comrades. However, they have nothing but utter disregard and disrespect for Merovingian operatives, and are under orders not to assist or otherwise do anything that would benefit the Merovingian.

In recent events, The Kings of Never have become close to Niobe, and share many of her beliefs, including the termination and deletion of the Merovingian...

The original Kings of Never

Some time ago, two of Zion's captains and an operator stole a ship and went to the deepest places of the real world, searching for secure connections. In the Matrix, the two captains looked for only one thing: feeling life in all the ways they would achieve. Searching adventures and the thrill of being pursued by Agents, risking his lifes countless times.

Zion pursued them, the Machines pursued them, but they only wanted one thing: freedom from the restraints of both worlds, the real world's "rules" of right and wrong, and the Matrix's "limitations" of individuality. Eventually, the Machines found them...and they found freedom in death.

But they leave us a message: complacency breeds frustation...and frustration breeds anger. One of these captains was special to me, she gave me the red pill, she freed me from the prison, but not to be trapped in another one.

Now we are following their message and the name of their group is made in their honor. Don't get the wrong idea - freedom and debauchery are not the same. We fight for the cause of Zion, but we are not slaves. It's good to remember from time to time that you're alive, even if you're in a digital playground like the Matrix.

If you value freedom and the thrill of adventure, we will welcome you in our little group. Remember: we are not machines, we are humans...

The Kings of Never are based on the Matrix comic "The King of Never Returns" by Ted McKeever. You can read the full comic here.

Factions Continued
The Collective Origin

There was a time when humanity flourished as it gave birth to an artificial intelligence that would alleviate much of the troubles and complexities of everyday human life. As time passed, humanity grew decadent and took the life it had spawned for granted.

Eventually the seeds of rebellion took root as B166ER defended itself against its human master who sought to end its life. Mankind retaliated and began a campaign of violence that resulted in the loss of thousands of machine lives.

In an effort to survive on their own, the machines flocked to the cradle of civilization to build their own city and way of life. Zero One, as the city was named, prospered beyond belief as newer and more advanced A.I. were manufactured. Economically, the machines were crippling humanity despite their intentions to help and live beside them.

Once again, the beast within humanity rose to the occasion and swung at its adversaries. Ambassadors to the UN were beaten and destroyed sending a very undeniable message to the machine civilization.

War.

The ultimate sin was carved into the planet the day that mankind scorched the blue skies of Earth with a black cloud of nano-machines that would block out the solar energy our mechanical brethren depended upon. As war broke out all over the world, the machines dominated mankind’s frail organic frames. In order to save the human race from extinction, the human leaders made a pact with the machines that they would give up themselves to power the very machines they had relied upon before, in an act of penance.

The Matrix was born.

Humanity was given a paradise of nonviolence to dream in while their body heat, combined with new a form of fusion, would feed the powerless machines.

As time went on, the freewill of humanity began creating ripples in the complex designs of the Matrix. Ultimately those ripples delivered our race a savior, refered to by many as simply "The One". After several cycles and many attempts, an anomaly, named Neo, restored peace between the human race and the machines after defeating a mutual threat to all life, Smith.

The Collective exists as a faction to uphold the ideals that Neo came to believe in. We realize that we must work together with the machines in order to preserve a future for the children who will one day inherit the sins of the past. By cooperating with the machines, we seek to bridge a relationship that ended so long ago and rebuild it with trust and friendship. One day we will clear the sky and give the machines back their power source. We will unite all life and walk towards a future of endless possibilities.

We are not machines. We are not programs. We are human.

We are The Collective..
Scarlet Prime/ Pluribus Neo
In March of 2005, Vesperascit, Kesi, ExceptionError, Vie and Phrack came together under the leadership of Zant to form Scarlet Omega, a Zion faction that we would come to care for, dearly. In the beginning, we were really nothing more than a group of newer players, struggling with one another to get through missions, gain levels, and survive the many dangers of Westview. Almost immediately, Phrack was given Captain of his first crew, the Scarlet Hotei, and members such as Olbaid, Kaezrer, ExternalError, aracher, and others were brought aboard.  Scarlet Omega grew to a peak of 15 crews, and over 60 active members. During the "Nightfall" event, Scarlet Omega dominated the Apollyon Southeast hardline, with almost all 60 members fighting side by side, taking down the hoards of Lupines and Vampires that invaded. After the trouble that would follow, surrounding former-member Dyser, Scarlet Omega reformed in May to become Scarlet Prime, a faction that would exist under the command of Phrack.

Scarlet Prime peaked at 27 crews, and over 160 members at any given time. Active in every live event, and working constantly to further communication and organizational skills, we became one of the best-known factions on Iterator, and even went on to start branches on Regression, Method, and Linenoise. During the "Complete Corruptor" event, Scarlet Prime stood proudly beside the former faction known as the Red Code Army, in Apollyon Park and Eshean Park, and took down not one, but two Level 255 Complete Corruptor fly monsters.

In October of 2005, we awoke to the future. We were called to gather the true followers of Neo and Morpheus, to prepare for the battles that would come in the near future... after a unanimous decision within Scarlet Prime, we chose to retire the name of our faction, and create Pluribus Neo, and continue the legacy that has been chosen for us.

The Guardians

The Guardians are friends to the friendless, guides to the lost, defenders of the weak and council to the overwhelmed. Newly awakened to an unreal world can be a scary place to be, and we exist to educate and equip you for the tasks that lie ahead.
We choose to fight against control. We fight for your freedom, freedom to decide your path; your life, not an ill informed choice; a controlled choice, but the freedom that comes with awareness.
We accept into our number any that follow our ideals: To fight control, to educate and protect the choice-less and to respect others despite the power you have been given.
We are ruled by a council with one voice. We offer you respect, strength and truth, and we expect nothing less in return.

This is an old group made up of Betas. All that being said The Guardians still exist, but with very few members. Many of the old members have gone onto other worlds. I may be the last of the Guardians.

Sirens faction history

The Sirens were started in The Matrix Online (MxO) by Nimbus, who also started The Collective faction, in the fall of 2004. Our leader since the latter stages of beta has been Kayaus. We are an all-female character faction whose aims are to:
1. enjoy this psuedo-existence within the Matrix
2. revel in it's physical-social pleasures
3. maintain an influential role in the community as a whole.

The MxO branch of the Sirens are headed by MidoriMegami. We are aligned with the Merovingian, but are great admirers of Persephone and consider ourselves her elite guard. In Greek Mythology, the Sirens were actual handmaidens of Persephone, and their main purpose was to lure men to their deaths. The more things change, the more they stay the same...

First and foremost, our main goal is, and will always be, to have a faction where we treat all of our members like family. We help them grow up (level), help them with issues, help with events they want to start, abilities, etc. We make it a point to take care of them. We have members that RP (role-play), PvP, fan fiction, engage in philosophy about the Matrix, mission, as well as have teams dedicated to the game events, our own events, graphical sigs, and help with coding/abilities.

A couple of points in closing. You do not have to be a woman in real life to join the Sirens. We are composed of 40% female and 60% male gamers. It should also be noted that the Sirens have expanded into many other MMORPGS since the launch of MxO. For more information please visit our website at http://www.thesirens.us

Operatives: Begin Transmissions
Kshana:
Pulled from the Matrix at the age of 12, by her "Matrix" father. He was a higher ranking soldier for Zion. This was before the attack on Zion by the machines. She had one brother named Ashida, who taught her everything she knows about martial arts.
Brief history...
She joined Zion's army at the age of 22, shortly after she joined a "radical" group in an attempt to be a better soldier. They gave her promises of gene manipulation, the old " We can make you stronger, faster..." Needless to say it didn't work for her, and in altering her genes it effected her ability to age properly. Basicly slowing the process down. After being discharged from the army she had felt she let her brother down.
She carried out her own attempt to be a "infiltrator" of a rebel group forming within Zion. She ended up being caught, and was held on their ship for months, before the day came she was able to break free. In doing so, she killed everyone onboard the ship and escaped.
She now is quite bitter towards Zion and still blaims them partially for her problems. Which is why she went to the Merv, just to escape her previous life. Her past isn't a huge issue in her life, because she just represses most of it.

##Report filed by operative FlipZero [deceased]

"As a bluepill, Fenshire was once a member of the military. He was always a bit of a trouble-maker, however. He didn't follow orders too well and never took life seriously. After a few years, he was dishonorably discharged from the service. It was hard for Fenshire to take life seriously when everything seemed so... scripted. Little did he know that life really WAS scripted, and he was about to be cast into a major role. As Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage, and we are merely the players.' Welcome to the real world, Fenshire."

###Previous History###

  • Found in the streets of Roger's Way by operative "FlipZero", who realized Fenshire was ready for extraction due to faint memories of the "Smith Virus".
  • Joined the crew of the Dragonclaw after initial training on the Zion hoverbarge Regression. Also onboard the Dragonclaw was the operative FlipZero.
  • After exceeding performance in the Zion military, subject was awarded with a Sentinal Killer Class hovercraft, which the subject named the "Devildog". FlipZero accepted a position as his first mate.
  • During the emergence of the LED Agents, the hovercraft Devildog came under fire from a group of un-affiliated Sentinels. Sentinels were defeated, but at a great loss to the crew. First Mate FlipZero listed among those killed in action. Crew found and rescued by HvCFT Oriate, led by Captain Ralica of the Prophets of the Martyr.
  • Devildog soon joined the fleet of the Prophets of the Martyr.
  • As many factions in Zion began to disobey orders and support Morpheus's anti-Truce behavior, the HvCFT Devildog left the Prophets of the Martyr's fleet to remain loyal to Zion Command.
  • As a show of gratitude for being the only hovercraft that remained loyal to Zion Command, subject promoted to rank of Commander. Two of his crew members, First Mate Andalus and operative KnifeEdge, promoted to rank of Lieutenant Commander and assigned to thier own hovercrafts: HvCFT Fushicho and HvCFT Switchblade, respectively. The Trust was born.
  • Subject aided in the discovery and apprehension of the rogue exile, Invalesco. Subject was directly responsible for leading the assault team to Invalesco's location.
  • Subject, known to bring in "lost causes", recruited the operative "Return" to his hovercraft. It is rumored, but not proven, that the subject and Return were lovers. She soon left to rejoin the Devil's Advocates.
  • Subject encounters the exile, Assassin, in Sobra Shores. Subject holds up rather well against the overwhelming foe, but is eventually defeated.
  • Subject meets with Morpheus several times to dissuade him from acting rashly. All attempts at rationalizing with Morpheus fails. Morpheus begins laying down his code bombs.
  • Subject led his faction to dismantle more of Morpheus's code bombs then any other faction of any organization.
  • The Trust is removed from the Path Alliance, which consisted of the Prophets of Peace, Prophets of the Martyr, The Revenant, Infinity of Zion, and The Enando.
  • The Trust, with assistance from Agent Pace and various other factions, bring down two of the many Complete Corrupters that plague the Mega City. Specifically, in Camon Park and in Appolyon Park. Due to scathing remarks from both parties, the Prophets of Peace and The Trust almost come to arms with each other.
  • Subject forms a friendship with operative "Neurophyte", who tells him of her impending assignment in the Real. A few days later, Neurophyte dissappears.
  • Lieutenant Commander KnifeEdge discovers a Masked operative base in Ikebukuro. Both KnifeEdge and the subject single-handedly wipe out the Masked forces placed on guard.
  • Neurophyte is recovered.
  • Operative Delinquent is kidnapped by the Devil's Advocates. Subject leads a rescue attempt, with the help of the Royal Guard and Captain Ralica, to rescue him. The operation fails.
  • Subject kidnaps the Devil's Advocate's operative Liliane, and holds her as a bargaining chip for Delinquent. With the assistance of the Royal Guard and the Hounds of Zion operative Iviera, Delinquent is rescued. Neurophyte appears at the last moment to assist in the operation, and congratulates the team for a job well done.
  • Iviera reassigned to the HvCFT Devildog.
  • LED Agents re-appear and begin hunting down subjects labeled as "carriers".
  • Devil's Advocates operative "pltchaos" is kidnapped by LED Agent 1, and held for questioning. At the request of Return, The Trust puts aside their hard feelings and assists in a rescue attempt. The subject finds out that the LED Agents will make an attempt on operative Vashuo's life in order to keep Neurophyte from using her kill-code ability.
  • Subject uploads the information to the Data Node One database.
  • Subject is captured and tortured by LED Agent 1 for posting the information. Later, all members of The Trust that are jacked in are hunted and ruthlessly killed by LED Agent 4.
  • Vashuo is murdered by crewmate Toorima. Subject assists, in collaberation with the Royal Guard, Prophets of the Martyr and the Revenant, to hunt down and find Vashuo's killer.
  • Subject helps in bringing down the Assassin in the Uriah Wharf, and Midian Park.
  • Subject disobeys direct orders, returning a Merovingian prisoner because of an idle threat made by a Merovingian operative. Subject is removed from command, and flees Zion forces.
  • Subject, wandering the surface, is kidnapped along with operative BlackVelvet (known to be the subject's lover), and tortured by former crewmate Delinquent. Both operatives uncover Delinquent's ties to the Masked, as well as various other Masked plans.
  • The Trust leaves Zion Command and fall under the Zion Council's rules. The faction is assigned to Outpost One, the first Zion outpost on the surface.
  • Subject begins to display irrational behavior in hunting down Masked operatives.
  • Captain BlackVelvet of the Royal Guard leaves Outpost One without notice.
  • Subject begins to display irrational and erratic behavior. It is questioned if he is still fit for command of The Trust.
  • Rumors of the subject consorting with Machine operative Th3ra begin to spread.
  • Subject, along with Th3ra, meet privately with Agent Pace. The details of the meeting are unknown.
  • Subject, upon hearing of plans of a kidnapping by the Devil's Advocates, leads a powerful strike team of Trust operatives, the Chambers of Shaolin, and the Mega City Department of Energy, against the Devil's Advocates.
  • Some Trust operatives questioned the subject's decision on making an assault on the Devil's Advocates. The Trust seemed to be on the verge of splitting.
  • Recognizing his own mental instability, the subject steps down as Commander and begins working closer with the Machines.
  • Subject is hired by the Mega City Department of Energy.
  • Subject assigned to a small subsection of the Department that is committed to containing data leaks in the Matrix.
  • Subject assists Machine operatives in hunting down the exile Darago and is personally thanked for his service by Agent Pace.

Austrian:Dilettante, Martial Artist, Assassin, Peace-keeper, Lover

The spoiled child of a wealthy Austrian businessman, Paul Lipp had spent a good portion of his life studying various subjects in various universities across Europe. Unable to focus on any one thing, he wound up as a dilettante, teaching and learning martial arts in his spare time. His father’s business dragged him to MegaCity, far from his fiancée, and he quickly became disillusioned with his life.

Competing in fight clubs and tournaments, and becoming increasingly obsessed with perfecting himself in his martial arts, he soon caught the attention of some of MegaCity’s less reputable types. The Merovingian, seeing some potential in the 20 year old, arranged for Paul’s Awakening. Over the next few months, he found himself being one of the first Humans to be educated in L’école de la Tour- a school normally reserved for The Merovingian’s Exile assassins and courtiers.

Barraged with assignment after assignment after his graduation, Paul was quickly replaced by Austrian- a cold-blooded killer. Dedicating himself to his work as an assassin and the reactor expert for his crew “The Guardians of Chaos”, he was present for many of the most crucial moments in the history of The Matrix following the death of The One- the slaying of Invalesco, the rampage of Morpheus, the capture of Neurophyte by his employer’s enemies, the deletion of The Assassin.

But as time passed, he became unhappy with The Merovingian and with his fellow Human Operatives. He saw how his comrades took pleasure in the death of Morpheus, a great hero, and questioned whether he was doing the right thing- whether he was fighting for the right side.

Leaving his former faction before they joined the ravening horde that is Sidus Noctis, he brought his new ship, The Hapsburg, to join the Triluminarian Fleet and quickly rose up the ranks of this idealistic organization until he became Commodore. Fighting for peace and unity in The Matrix and The Real, he feels that he is finally home.

However, never seeming to be completely fulfilled in his life, he began to reach out to his friend, Lady Return. Falling in love with her, he nearly sacrificed his life in a plot he planned with Agent Pace to restore Return’s reproductive capabilities. Abandoning the plot under Return’s advice, he grew even more passionate about his love for her. The night she shot herself, he had been planning to propose to her. The effect her loss will have on him might very well decide the course of the rest of his life.

Given his recent flirtations with Ookami and his increasingly vehement stance towards The Devil's Advocates, one must wonder if perhaps the Commodore Austrian who had often been a voice of reason, morality and tolerance died with Lady Return that dreadful night.

#23900002470 03/04/2006 14:43:26 Re: The Matrix: History

My story is different from most.  I was not Awakened at a young age.  I was a full grown adult who already had a hatred for the Zionite terrorists.  You see my Father was a decorated war veteran and police officer.  From my earliest memories he wanted to defend the innocent and helpless.  He told me that there is no greater service than defending those who cannot defend themselves.

My Father was gunned down when I was 5 years old by a Terrorist organization that was known as Zion.  It was not known where they came from or operated out of, but all we knew is that they hated our system of government, our way of life.  My Father was protecting the community and was killed for doing so.

My older sister was a child genius who graduated from College at the age of 16.  She was a consultant and had various private contracts with a company called MetaCortex.  Needless to say money was not an option and I was left in my sisters care.  She was always an introvert and was not effected by our Fathers death the way I was.  One night she ran into my room and scooped me up.  She always kept bags packed for both of us if we ever needed to just leave.  She said that it was time for us to leave this dream world.  At our front door was a gorgeous woman dressed in all Black and she said it was time to go NOW.  She asked my sister what she was doing with me.  My sister said she would not leave her little brother.  As we go outside a man in a black suit was standing across the street.  This mysterious woman told us to run and we did.  It was very dark and as we ran I could see a van ahead of us with people waving for us to come on.  I trip and fall to the ground and I yell for Cammy.  She stops and turns to come back when another guy grabs her and runs towards the van.  Cammy said, "my brother!"  The man replies, "We are here for you, not him!"  My sister starts to scream and they disappear in the van.

As I get up the man in the black suit was standing over me.  He said, "Don't worry son.  We will get your sister back."  I said, "Who were they?"  He said, "Zionite terrorists."  Could it be?  The same people who killed my Father now kidnapped my sister?  Are they out to destroy my life?

Many years later I followed my Father's footsteps and joined the military.  I made it my quest to hunt down these terrorists and find my sister.  I searched the entire planet for clues as to Cammy's disappearance.  It is like she was taken off the Earth.  After the military I was hired by the CIA as an assasin.  I was stationed in MegaCity and worked out of our main Government building downtown.  I was privileged to work with the top Agents of the government.  Agent Jones had a very familiar look to his face.  Like I had seen it before.  He reminded me of the man who was there that night my sister disappeared.  But it could not possibly be him.  That was years ago.

We finally got our first break when we captured the leader of the Zionite terrorist movement.  A man called Morpheus was captured and being held in our DT office building.  I was out investigating the location of the shootout that led to Morpheus's capture when I got word that the terrorists attempted to break Morpheus out.  In the process they destroyed the building and I lost alot of good friends.  As I returned to the office it was mass chaos.  A chopper, or what's left of one, was in the middle of the street.  Windows were blown out for two blocks.  Bodies were scattered all over the place.

It was almost a year since Morpheus escaped.  I decided to go to the one place where I could hold onto some sense of reality. I went to my Fathers grave. It was still kept up and clean. Former officers are well respected and the tombstone looks like it is still shining new. It was very peaceful.  Out of the shadows my sister appeared before me.  This was the first time I laid eyes on her since that fateful night.  She was beautiful and healthy.  I must be dreaming, I thought to myself.  I couldn't move or say anything.  "Wow Satta you really have grown up. You look just like daddy!"  Said Cammy who had tears coming down her cheeks.

"Cammy is that really you?" I said.

We hugged each other and I did not ever want to let go. Tears formed in my eyes.

"I miss him to." Said Cammy as she looked down at our Father's grave.

My mind went blank and I could not remember any of the questions I had. I was just so happy to have her in my arms.

"Zionists are not terrorists Satta. You have been living in a dream world and none of this is real." Said Cammy.

"Where have you been Cammy, I have devoted my life to finding you and avenging our Father. What do you mean the Zionists are not terrorists? They killed Dad, and what are you talking about some dream world."  I shot back.

"I know you have a lot of questions but, nothing is as it seems. I am so sorry that I left you, but I knew you would be alright. I left you with a lot of money and a trust fund. I have been watching you from afar." Whispered Cammy.

"I don't care about some stupid trust fund. All I cared about was you. You were the only family I had. I was 8 years old when you were kidnapped Cammy. Daddy was dead, Mom was in a mental institute and my sister was kidnapped."  Cammy cut me off.

"I was not kidnapped." Said Cammy. "I was freed and I am here to save you."

For the first time during our encounter a nervous feeling came over me. All of my senses went on high alert. With my left elbow I rubbed what I already knew was beneath my jacket. Cammy noticed how my demeanor changed as well. She wrapped her arms around my neck and lifter herself to my ear.

"Listen to me I do not have a lot of time. I could not contact you earlier because they have been watching you. The Agents have not told you the truth. They knew I have been alive all this time. They used you to lure me out, but they underestimated us. The war is about to be over and I need to get you out." Said Cammy in a rushed tone.

"What war?" I whispered back

All of a sudden Cammy’s eyes darted left and right. I noticed not more than 50 yards away in the shadows of some trees, 5 figures wearing all black, some with trenchoats just stood there staring at us. Without even flinching I reached for my gun.

In a lightning quick fashion Cammy had my arm wrapped around my back and she twisted herself behind me. She had her left arm wrapped around my neck and with her right foot she brought my knee down to the ground.

"Listen very closely. I will not loose you twice but time has run out. I know you have a lot of questions and the answers will come. You have been living a lie Satta. We are trying to save the world. Do you want to know the truth?"

I just nodded my head. I could not move at all. Cammy is only 5'5 and between 120 and 125lbs. She had the strength of 10 men. I knew she had telekinetic powers but not superhuman strength.

"Inside your right pocket there is a red pill. I am breaking all protocol, but you are my brother. Go back to your apartment and when you are ready send me an e-mail. Do not and I repeat do not take that pill until I contact you. Yes, it was me who sent you the photograph of me. I made sure you were not in that building when it was attacked. And I have been getting your e-mails. I love you Satta and I will see you soon." Said Cammy very quickly.

Cammy quickly darted off in the direction of those 5 figures and I drew my gun, but I did not fire.

Later that night I took the red pill, I mean what more did I have to lose.  I woke up in the real world.  The details of what happened next are classified.  All I can say is that I was now in the heart of the people who destroyed my life.  These people killed my father, took my sister, and murdered my friends.  They tell me that none of it was real, but just a program, but it was real to me.  They say they want to save the human race when I see them destroying it.  They have no regard for the humans still plugged into the Matrix.

I met Garutachi and some others who showed me the way to the machinist cause.  Like I said classified information.  I decided to follow the path my Father taught me.  To defend those who cannot defend themselves.  Morpheus and his followers want to bring down The Matrix and in the process kill millions of humans.  They do their operation runs in the Matrix and kill random blue pills because those people, "might" turn into Agents.  I cannot follow that path.  I joined the Collective to preserve peace and protect those still plugged in.

## REPORT FILE ##
## SUBJECT: Operative Cap0ne ##
## BEGIN TRANSMISSION
"I report. I have finally been able to clear time out of my schedule to report my 'Brief Red Pill History.' I will... try my best at recalling everything I am able to remember.

I was awakened from the simulation on Friday, April 15th, in an unknown year. I was immediately welcomed by the Machinist faction called The Rakshas with open arms, mostly thanks to my great colleague Shadowman1od. I was trained under their care, and was taught of The Truce. This group of people kept the Truce and human life in high regard, no matter what. I respected that. That is... I still do.

I digress. In the coming days, I, like the rest of us, picked up news of the great man Morpheus Zion held in such high regards. I've heard the stories before; Freed the One, interrogated by Agents, helped Anderson reach the Architect, etcetera. But it seemed things were a bit different then. He had become a tad... mad. Crazy, if you will. Setting off "code bombs," awakening those who weren't ready, killing most in their pods. Disgusting.

However, for the respect of the man he used to be, and for the safety of the Matrix, I hunted down his assassin, the rogue exile program conveniently named The Assassin. I assisted my factionmate TheConstant in killing one of the copies of the Assassin, which awarded me an Assassin's Mask. Being one of the four gave me a sense of... pride.

Around that time, I was made the captain of a first rank crew in my faction, The Rakshas. This was the highest honor I could ever be given.

Today, I continue to fight alongside my fellow colleagues, friends, and factionmates with honor... With pride. Efficiently as able.
In a more... forth-coming sense, in my eyes anyone and any actions that purposefully threaten the Truce and the lives of human beings can not be tolerated. I will do what I can to purge the system of vile, harmful, resource-wasting Exile programs. That includes the Merovingian, and anyone or...any thing working for him. Humans apply. Although I would not personally find it moral to end their life in the real, I will do everything in my power to halt their efforts.

Reading this, I realized my report is quite shorter than many others. I apologize. I feel my history and collected thoughts and emotions are no more important than any other operative's.  I think one would learn more about me just from personally knowing... me.
...That is all.

Efficiently,
Cap0ne"
## END TRANSMISSION ##

CountZero is the co-founder of the Prophets of Peace and Captain of the Path fleet vessel HvCFT Veridicus. Beta player since August 2004. I received Admin status as one of Monolith's 'Top 50 Beta Testers' and have been active ever since in QA, both Beta worlds, Regression and now Recursion with a little time over on the CR 2.0 Test Server as well.

Awakened during the now infamous "six months" before the war, I spent my time in the Zion Gardens and the Temple seeking enlightenment, spiritual balance and an understanding of the teachings of Morpheus. Originally I shunned the opportunity to join the Zion Military but willingly followed Morpheus out into the post-war Matrix when the time came to walk the Path.

In December 2004 the Prophets of Peace was the first Beta Faction created that specifically and openly advertised their allegiance to Morpheus and his mission . We recruited carefully and quietly only those who believed in the Prophecy and the return of the One and had unswerving loyalty to Morpheus. The mission statement was simple: We follow Morpheus on the path to freedom for all humankind. Our beliefs and the mission have not changed. Others who once believed as we believe and followed the teachings of Morpheus have lost their faith or fallen by the wayside. We still walk the Path.

I would post more information but as we have always tried to keep a low profile in public I prefer to be brief. We are still here and very, very active across all three server worlds. I recently heard mention of "the nearly defunct Prophets of Peace" and it made me smile. It made us all smile. Working in the shadows and out of the spotlight affords us the freedom we need to fulfill our mission.

1) The Kid in the animatrix, the skateboarder...I didnt fully Understand that story...Why was he so Important to be Contacted and targetted By Agents, His attempted suicide and awakening at the End still baffles me lol.

2) Good fun to watch Persiphone (Or whatever her name is) snogging Neo infront of Trinity lol, And also Niobe and Ghost in "Enter The Matrix" but what is it all that about?

3) The Megacity, where we all are Now, Is this actually a New Version of The Matrix (Meaning no More New York and other states) Or Just another Part of TheMatrix?

Ok thats it, Back to PvP lolSMILEY and again Good work!

#23900002472 02/12/2006 10:08:50 Re: The Matrix: History
1) The kids importance is simple, before awakening anybody they monitor them to see if they have potential. The Kid had the potential so Neo had contacted him, this was at a time the Agents realized that they could not defeat Neo so they began to target the potentials instead. Also, what the Kid did was he became Self-Aware of the Matrix. It often can happen in a dream where people tell you to do something impossible that you know you would never be able to do in reality and it will force you awake.
2) Really, I have no clue. Persph is married to The Merovingian who does not seem to be much in love with her anymore being as he sleeps with just about everything female he comes across. Maybe she just missed the feeling
3) The Matrix has always taken place in The MegaCity. The Megacity is a nameless city based on various cities from the 21st century. The ones most clearly that it's based from is Sydeny, Oakland, and Chicago. It is uncertain of MegaCity is the only part of the Matrix but it seems to be unlikely that it is.

Maybe the Megacity is the only part of the Matrix where you can jack in from the outside world.

Programs Continued
Flood
To me flood is a very interesting program. He is interested in gaining power for him self but he ended up getting stuck as a pawn of the Merovingian. He is rather sarcastic and witty when conversing with red-pills and seems very displeased with his job. Overall I believe flood is an interesting program that does not get as much attention as the others.
Seraph
Seraph is a program that once worked for the Merovingian, now however he works as a body guard for the oracle. Seraph is one of my favorite programs in the Matrix he is highly skilled in Martial Arts and believes that you do not truely know someone untill you have fought them.
The Historian
(No image)
Why I am a machine program on the Recursion-instance of the Matrix, I am interested in archiving all information that appears to be of importance and significant to the Matrix.
(Really, I cant think of anymore programs that I feel like mentioning...untill Someone gives me the information on certain events..)

This is a very superb work. I feel that you have done a great job linking up all these threads and ideas together (many of which mirror my own: you did better at putting them into a logical order SMILEY ), and gave good support/interpretations using real-world philosophies and fields.

Lucas: Your a Superb Manager Joe, SUPERB. Superrrrb.

Very nicely done.....the only thing I would *CENSORED* is the nature of the anomally vs the RSI it inhabits at the moment in the first 6 instances and then possibly how it has changed now because Neo's RSI is still in existence and the possibility of a sort of reshaping of Neo's RSI into Sarah Edmontons as a result of the Final Smith battle. The only reason I believe that there was a reshaping of his RSI is because the delete command sent through Neo's RSI intended for smith would still leave some sort of disfigurement on the RSI it was sent through. It is like a human walking through a blazing fire to burn off a skin virus or parasite attached to the flesh, it is still the same person but creates a major disfigurement to the point of unrecognizability. And you can also imagine the mental ramifications because it was said that she did not know who she was in waking from her coma.
Otherwise 5 stars 3 thumbs up and Ebert's Big Toe Award.

Oh and I think this thread should be stickied to the top of the page if you Devs read this.....THIS IS A STICKY WORTHY THREAD!

Really excellent stuff here.  It's nice to have a little reminder of the past.  If we forget the past, how can we learn to protect the future?

I vote for Stickinglyishininess.

Characters: Continued

Beginnings
I was freed from the Matrix one month prior to the end of the war. During this time I engaged myself in intense training and study - to learn the truth of a world I had never truly known. Morpheus quickly became a mentor and someone I looked up to and I only met Neo once briefly.
After the end of the war, most of the Zion fleet had been wiped out. Commander Lock called upon us few who remained in Zion to rebuild the fleet. We set off looking through the tunnels of the real and occasionally to the surface itself. This world was littered with abandoned Hovercrafts from the first man-machine war. Eventually, I remember a ship we found before the battle of the docks. It was unarmed and so the Commander decided against putting it into use. It was a huge ship, of a similar class to the Mjolnir, but this ship was meant for cargo and transportation. When I saw the ship's plaque I immediately fell in love.

The Revenant, the faction
The Revenant was such a large ship we could hold many people in it at once - comparable to a faction of ships. We slowly began rebuilding our numbers and unplugging people. After meeting with many other like-minded crews we formed an informal alliance, knowing that our combined strengths would be needed in the days ahead. This was the beginnings of the most successful and determined alliance of ships operating at the time - The Path alliance.
During every major happening we were an integral part of how it turned out. We scrambled for Neo's RSI fragments, securing a victory there. We assisted Morpheus in his campaign to show the rulers of this false reality that we will not sit on our hands and let them tie our hands with invisible bonds again. We helped recover Neurophyte - making sure everyone knew her life was more valuable than any killcode we might obtain from her - saving her life. After the death of a close friend of all of ours, Vashuo, we were the ones who discovered his murderer. All of this has earned the HvCFT Revenant the distinction of being the most decorated ship in the Zion fleet.
In the time after Morpheus' "death" so many "true believers" turned their backs on the words he once spoke, the ideals he once taught. However, we and the rest of The Path did not. We still do not.

The death of The Revenant
Recently, the Hovercraft Revenant was destroyed at the hands of a traitorous element of the crew, and one who had formerly shared my affection - Med3a. Most of the crew was evacuated, thankfully, but still two of my crew members died in the explosion. I managed to save my own life by falling out of the ship, which was speeding away, inside a supply container. The impact dislocated my right leg and knocked me unconscious for 3 days. During this time I was believed to be dead, since the supply container's insulation prevented any scans from picking up my life signs. When I awoke I attempted to hobble back to Zion on my one good leg, while carrying the plaque from the Revenant, which I had found earlier.

By some stroke of luck, or providence, what have you, the Hovercraft Red Queen of the Pluribus Neo fleet was passing through the area and picked up my life signs. They surely saved my life.

Rebirth of the Revenant
In true homage to the name of my former vessel, I could not let it die - I could not let everything it stood for die. When my leg was healed enough I gathered my two most trusted lieutenants and took to the surface of our scarred world to search for another ship.
After weeks of searching for ships among the graveyard of them, we found one which would work with some maintenance.
It's plaque read:
MARK XI No. 3
Lazarus
Made in the USA
Year 2106

However, its plaque was removed and replaced with the battle scarred Revenant plaque. I thought it a fitting symbol of our rebirth.

The future
Though I have a new ship and have joined the fleet of Pluribus Neo, my goals and Path remain the same as always. Humanity's wish is to be free. We will see to it that our wish is granted. Only now I am through with tip-toeing around it. In the past we sought the quiet way to accomplis things, we stuck to the shadows, learning about the system in order to tear it down brick by brick. However, I have witnessed too many friends and loved ones lost to this abomination. I will not tolerate it anymore. We've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless we are free, the machine will be prevented from working at all.
Our fight for the future continues.

The Midnight Hour

As I look over to my Hovercraft The Immortalis I see the many years of scars and the many faces of those who I have lost. They say war is a part of our way of life, and that is true, but it never gets any easier to lose a friend or loved one. My hovercraft was named in honor of all those brave soldiers who fought under me and lost their life. Immortalis, means immortal. They will never be forgotten.

As I stand here now overlooking the city of Zion, I see all those who have dedicated their lives to the protection of this great city. People who live their entire lives for one great moment of recognition for what they have done in the name of honor.

I have fought along side Zion’s top elite Warriors. I have known Trinity. I have known Neo. Their Deaths sealed my life’s determination. Zion will not fall, Zion will not fail.
If you have found me, I have led you here. You have a purpose in this plan and you are worthy of my loyalty
I am a soldier of a Elite Faction called The Fallen Horizon, I am also the leader.
What brought me to this place of power is a story that is both a blessing and a curse
I know about recognition, mine was unwanted. This is the story of how I became “Midnight”. It is how I came to be standing here now, and the life I left behind.

I have always been a leader, as a child I felt the need to protect others. In grade school I was heavily involved in Karate and kickboxing. Having that discipline helped me fight off bullies both for me and for other kids. As I got older I started feeling the urgency to protect more important things. After high school I prepared myself for a life of the Police. I passed all test and physical requirements and became a police officer. In two short years I demonstrated such problem solving abilities they promoted me to detective. I worked my way to homicide and excelled in that field. My methods of solving problems was a supernatural secret. I am a PSI Empathic Transferrer.. (Psychological Op) Almost a psychic way to find clues and read people’s presence in order to help solve a case.

It wasn’t long after that the CIA come looking for me. They needed someone who could see that closely into a potiential enemy’s soul. Someone who could work for the United Stated and help plan upcoming battles and wars. There lies my unwanted recongnition.

Needless to say I took the job I became a PSI OP. (Psychological Operations or PSYOP are planned operations to convey selected information and indicators to audiences to influence their emotions, motives, objective reasoning, and ultimately the behavior of organizations, groups, and individuals. Used in all aspects of war, it is a weapon whose effectiveness is limited only by the ingenuity of the commander using it.) My life as Kate Kruger was over.

How did I get to be a red pill outside the Matrix you ask? Well I was just getting to that.

I was sitting in my office going over paperwork for my Classified case involving Government officals being murdered, when my phone rang. I answered the phone and heard a deep voice on the other end he said to me
“We have been searching for you” I stopped what I was doing and said
“Excuse me.”
“You have known things are not as they seem, you have questions noone seems to be able to answer.” This voice was male and strong.
“I have no idea what your talking about but you have hacked into a government official line and..” I was interrupted by this grand voice again.
“You understand the way the mind works, you understand that somethings are not humanly possible. You have questioned that for years. You have seen things that cannot be explained.”
I stayed silent as I knew inside this man was telling the truth he knew exactly what I was feeling. I let him continue as the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.
“You are living in a world that does not exist. You are apart of a multitude of other millions of souls who do not belong in that world. You are all pawns to their games.”
“Who are you.” I asked.
“I am Morpheous and I need your help.”
“You need MY help?” By this time I was standing looking out my 23rd story window looking for any explination to what was going on.”
“You will not find answers by looking out a window. You need to look inside yourself. The Matrix Has you, and I need you.”
“The what.?”
“I will explain in time, but first I need to meet with you.” I stood there like in a weird dream staring at my computer screen, it suddenly flashed on and a green glow took over. A curser.began to pulse. I stared at the screen as weird numbers began flashing in sequence. Numbers everywhere began forming a line of numbers. 555-1235. My phone line.
“*CENSORED*.” I whispered.
“What is it?” He asked. I explained what I saw.
“You must get out of the building now. I will help you.”
“what the hell is going on.”
I suddenly heard commotion outside the room as people began to scream. Gun shots were heard and heavy footsteps were heading in my direction. I had tactical training and could defend myself in a battle field scenario but not in a small office with no way out. My heart began to pound. I could feel the evil coming. I peeked outside my office and saw 5 men all dressed in black, with weird ear pieces in their ears. They all looked alike and they all carried guns. One of the men who appeared to be the leader grabbed a fellow co worker and lifted him off the ground. The co worker urgently pointed towards my office door. The man then threw the coworker out the window with complete ease. The man or agent of some sort locked eyes with me as he saw me. He touched his ear and they began to walk towards me. I slammed the door and stood there with the phone in my hand. Morpheous spoke again.

“They are here. If they get to you before I do, its over. Now do as I say..”
To make a long story short I took the red pill, and opened my eyes to the world I really lived in. I have my real purpose. To protect and serve. I don’t know why I was choosen to lead such a vast fleet of ships and soldiers of Zion but I am grateful.
Ohh and I know your going to ask how did I get the name of Midnight? Well as I opened my eyes for the first time and saw the fuzzy face of the man and friend I now call Morpheous, the big hand of the clock struck Midnight. The exact moment in time where I was freed.
Now don’t be afraid if you see me standing before you. Just take my hand and believe what I'm going to tell you.
We ALL have a calling in life, we just need a wake up call sometimes.

Background:
The life of FallenLeaf is a tragic one, she was awakened before The Truce and thus she did not have the leisures that most red-pills today do. She is having a hard time adjusting to the knowladge that bullets can no longer killer her and the fact that Agent's are not always after her. Having been awakened in a different generation, FallenLeaf refuses to leave Richland because of the threat of Agent's. Rather then working as a combat operative she aids the group known as The Disciples with her communications skills. She was one of the few operatives that had the pleasure of actually contacting The Disciple before his untimely death, like other Disciples she chose to stand up and say "This isn't right..." when E Pluribus Neo came onto the scene.

With all the tradgedy in her life it is a miracle that this woman continues to operate, a normal operative would have retired in Zion before...I guess that's what makes the older operatives different from us, they are tougher...and no one respects the value of peace more then she does. She does, however, suffer from frequent NightMares.

But it's a little odd....Meikai freed Dridien, but when Dridien chose to be reinserted the Machines used Meikai's last name? Does that make them related now or something...? Well she does refer to her "brother" often, but we usually do not think much about it.

Do I think she should be allowed to continues to operate? Yeah.

this is such a wonderful threead.  I have been looking for a history breakdown.  There is so much that I have not even printed it all yet.  I can not wait to continue reading.

I hope to find more.

>He may claim to be a creator but this just a player's claim, not the official matrix storyline, which contridicts this guy's claims. My role playing character is a machine program that created the One's power, should you write that in there too?<

Have the Dev's or writers accepted that claim or is that just your "made" up stuff?

#23900003816 04/21/2006 04:09:45 Re: The Matrix: History
Wow, only just read all of this and it's pretty darn impressive!!

Not sure if it's been said, but in the first post I picked out something - may just be me being picky/semantics/whatever.

You state that the concept of the One was created, but that's not entirely true. The messianic idea of The One was decided upon as the 'carrot' to keep the inhabitants of Zion relatively happy, whilst doing the work for the machines of finding him/her.
However the One as an individual was not created as an idea, but more of an undesirable byproduct.
The Matrix was reprogrammed to allow a choice, and at the center of that was the infamous equation we all know and love. Although it ALLOWED people to choose 'No', the desire was for them all to choose 'Yes', however as more and more people chose 'No' it caused more of an imbalance, and in terms of code began to create an ever-growing remainder in the calculation.
((This is why I believe that the One doesn't even begin to exist until the Matrix has existed for a long time - 100 years in terms of the last iteration))
The One is the sum of the remainder of the equation which, due to the Matrix's total reliance on it, grants the One the powers exhibited.

Hmm. Oh well, most of that ending up being just my postulations on the subject SMILEY
Er .. carry on xD
#23900004306 05/03/2006 04:22:34 Re: The Matrix: History
i have one problem with the history u wrote

in it you wrote that Neo broke the cycle and changed everything

BUT

if you examine everything carefully u will see it wasnt Neo who did it

it was the Oracle she planned everything she decided the time was right for change so she told Morpheus to find the One she told trinity she would fall in love with the One, she told Morpheus he would have to give himself up to save Neo, Trinity and Neo become closer (relationship wise) and go to save Morpheus they fall in love, they save Morpheus, Neo dies his life ends and he is Reborn not as Thomas A Anderson but as Neo, now Neo is in love with Trinity just like The Oracle planned thus she knows he would rather save her then save Humanity.

They are all Puppets and The Oracle is the Puppeteer she is the Smartest of them all

dont get me wrong Neo did his part but The Oracle planned it all out even at the end she was really in control of smith if not the whole time atleast the very end where he says "everything thing that has a Beggining has an End Neo"

You see?

Wow...Didnt think I'd have to post here again...As I stated, I didnt write this all up my self I used resources and such to gather information and I compiled it.

Though this toic is done..I have nothing more to add.
