Omg SWG is the perfect game for a starwars fan, it was so cool the grinding isnt even that bad
sadly i can over the fact that you have to be a jedi to really be on top of the game..well long story short
it was a badass game, i just stopped after CU.. but i'm sure its better now
All I can say is... wow...
SWG is amazing, full stop.
I have only been playing for a few hours, and i'm still trying to get other how deep the gaming experience really is...
This is the only MMO I have played other than MxO... I started it as a 'filler' game, to keep me occupied during the quieter hours of MxO, but now I can seriously see it becoming my main game, without question...
The only gripe people seem to have is about changes that were made through the combat upgrade, but I wasn't there before that happened so to be honest I couldn't care less...
If MxO had even a sprinkle of the features that SWG has it would be twice as good as it is now...
Player homes, towns, cities, guild halls, vehicles, professions, freakin space travel... and i'm not even that big of a Star Wars fan...
I'll say it again... wow... just wow.

sounds wicked. just got to wait for me package.
i be joining alot of u on there then

SWG is a pile of $*&%
You can not do anything untill you hit the level cap, you HAVE to be Master (If your a crafter or fighter, you need to be a Master of that Profession if you want to suceed).
That means that you have to get to Lvl 80 as soon as possible. However there is NO CONTENT in SWG, this means that getting to Level 80 is just one long grind! All you can do is kill Bols for a few weeks straight till you reach Master.
When you do you find that there is no content in the game. Except for becoming Jedi. So you finally decided to go be Jedi. Thus sevral more months of killing Bols till you unlock Jedi, then more months of killing Bol's till you level it.
Once you become Master Jedi? Oh thats right there is still NO CONTENT! This means that all you can do is PvP. Guess what? PvP and the Galactic civil war is totaly pointless! Be Rebel or Imperial it makes no diffrence. You go kill players of the other faction, there is no reward for it, nothing is achived by it, cept for the fact that your armour is decayed a little more.
Yeah you can attack player placed bases, guess what! Still doesn't chage a freaking thing!
Crafters are just about pointless because everyone else is Jedi and Jedi do not need armour or weapons as they have there own. Maybe if your a Chef you can make money, as Jedi need food but that about it.
The class system is totaly screwed up and it is ALL about fighting an nothing else. Most classes do not have any abilites which can be used outside of combat. And everyone is a Fighter/Healer if you are anything other than that you have no chance in combat, it is totaly unbalanced.
Jump to Lightspeed is just a pile of $%^& too, nothing to do in that at all.
Do not waste your time with SWG, compared to SWG MxO has an amazing amount of content. I am so glad I stoped play SWG and switched to MxO there is so much more to do and it is a lot more fun.

To repeat what I've said on the SWG forums many times:
Well you had one negative post out of all of these, not bad that must mean SWG is good. It is **bleep** good, I have been playing now for 15 months. I played pre-cu and I am still playing post-cu, A lot of veteran players moaned about the new combat upgrade and left, they basically didn't bother to give it a chance. I stuck it out and I can say now that the new combat upgrade is the best thing that has happened to SWG. It has brought the communities together by encourging grouping. There are 30+ professions from you to choose from ranging all types of playing (Usually you can get 2 masters and a bit with skill points provided, plus Pilot profession is free and doesn't take any skill points)
I have 3 characters in SWG, my main character is a Jedi on Chilastra which did take me a long time (about 13 months) but then again I didn't push myself until the end which I am glad that I did becuase they changed the conversaion rate for force sensitive points from 30:1 to 3:1 (Big jump)
As other people have said in here you can have houses which are empty shells and you can decorate or use as storage. I usually decorate them (U should see my large Tatooine House
.
There are currently 11 planets which includes the new Kashyyyk plus there is another planet coming in novemember in the new expansion Trials Of Obi-Wan which I think is on the same day as the Episode III DVD release (hence the expansion) which will contain the Mustafar planet (Lava place that Anakin and Obi-Wan had there fight on)
The game is impressive and getting even better, some of the professions have been revamped to improve them and many more are underway.
I really do recommend it.
If you do hook up and join the Chilastra server my character's name is Russ Briggs and I have an alt character on there called Aayyla, look me up and I will help you out with anything
Solonite
Recursion
You onl;y pay for the sofware invloved if it's an expansion - for example if you get SWG the total experience that is everything up to date (SWG Empire Divided - JTL - Rage Of The Wookies) for $29.95. Once this new expansion comes out in novemember that will be something like $20. That is just for the software you don't have to get the expansion (Might as well get total experience as that is everything including the original game) but Trials of Obi-Wan you don't have to get but it's the fun of expanded the game. The subscription side of things is exactly the same no matter what you got ($15 a month) you don't pay any extra subscription for the expansions.
As MXO is now a part of the SOE family you can get the station access which is what I am on ($22.95 a month) which allows you to play all SOE games, hence why I am playing SWG, EQ2 and MXO which is worth it when u consider if you want to get SWG and MXO that would cost you $30 a month for the 2 games.
oooo AHAZI server, me and my faction are on there... look me up i am PlatinmPlatypus and i am a lvl 5
CooliceT wrote:sweet dude'scheers for the info. i have just orderd it off play.com.14.99

ahhhh I like this stuff. <sarcasm off> Ok some professions can take you up to a week to master. Just really depends on how much you play. The fastest way to level your character is get into a good spin group. The good groups have Jedi to tank for you. I was a Master Bounty hunter and Master Carbineer. I switched my template to Master Bounty Hunter Master Combat Medic. Took me about 3 - 4 days to master Combat Medic and that is only playing a few hours a night. So like I had said before just get into a good group.
To tell you the truth alot of people that left SWG after the combat upgrade lost their "I win button". What that means if they can't kill someone in about 2 -3 hits they got mad and left the game. You had to relearn combat after the CU. We have had large scale PvP that has lasted 6 - 8 hours. There is stuff to do, you just have to look for it. Space can be pretty cool if you know what you are doing and know where to go to grind.
FYI though alot of groups won't take you until you reach a higher level. If you decided to play SWG and join the Scylla server and you go Rebel, look me up, name in game is Eremitic, I'll group with ya and help ya out.

CooliceT I cancelled my SWG account cos of the Combat Upgrade after they messed my character up but SOE got it back to how it was.
I am now back in game and loving all the content on it especially now with the addition of a new planet, imagine having 10 planets to play on not 3 areas of city personally mate I am spending more time on SWG than I am on mXo now.
Okay SWG has mutliple professions you can play from combat to crafters to politicians to doctors to entertainers you can build player cities within your guilds.
There are a multitude of quests for you to do which makes a change from the do assassination mission get xp rinse and repeat.
You also have vehicles and creatures you can use to ride around the planets.
JTL the space part of SWG is awesome have dogfights with your friends or enemies in space and even have parties or combat on multiplayer ships.
Bored of how your character looks on MxO? On galaxies go visit a master image designer and change the look of your character whenever you want.
The possibilities with this game just go on and on lots to tell
Quick note to regulus 6 months to jedi would take some hardcore grinding seeing as they have now nerfed the combat xp conversion at the village 30:1 for combat xp **bleep** I was annoyed when I converted the xp.
If you wanna know anymore Ice gimme a shout

I've been playing SWG for two years now (this month is my 2 year anniversary actually) and I still love it. I've recently started playing MXO too as I signed up for the station access bill plan and I may pick up EQ2 aswell for a laugh (plus it won't cost me anymore)
Anyway SWG is great I still love it. I've done a lot of the professions at this stage, but never went jedi. I've done Bounty Hunter, Carbineer, Pistoleer, Combat medic, Dancer, and a few others. I've also played around with the non combat careers and they are fun also. Sometimes I wish for a second character slot so I could have 1 for combat and 1 for crafting.
Space is a blast and once you make master pilot and get to fly one of the multiplayer ships you'll never look back. I still remember the first time I took a full crew up in my YT1300, we had such a blast.
As for content there is loads of content. there are Themeparks (Jabba's Palace, Emperors retreat, Rebel base, Nym's palace to name a few). There are major missions (Death watch bunker, Avator space platform, Corvette again to name but a few. Kasshyyyk has added tonnes of new quests and missions to the game and on every planet there are loads of NPC's that are perfectly happy to send you on quests to further their own goals and all will reward you in some way. Some are factional so can only be done by rebel/imperial and some can be done by all.
Personally I'm looking forward the space capture missions/capitol ships that are on the way they should be really great.

No, lol.. It's more like Jedi Knight 4:smileyhappy:
Think jedi as a starting prof now, then, oh wait.. It is.
ToW was a huge waste of cash

Heh, yeah, it's not like anyone used BE clothing right? But anyway, I love the new combat system.. Wewt for being a lv 10 jedi wearing padawan robes killing crap outside mos eisley with a pistol all day. Now if only they could make it so jedi is something you have to work to get again:smileyhappy:
..I want extra respec levels for my FS boxes lol...

Sorry to say, it's not much different than MxO right now in that aspect!
but MxO still has the 'fun' element in it.

I played SWG from beta until just recently, and I must say that I have never been more disappointed in an MMO before. They slowly destroyed the game until it was just a mere image of what it once was. I admit that they may have released the game a bit to soon, seeing as how there weren't any Jedi, Player Cities, Vehicles, Mounts, or Spaceships... but that all changed in time.
I froze my account for a few months and came back just as the new Combat Upgrade (CU) was launched. Although I was disheartened to see that my TKM/Doctor was no longer "ub3r l33t" so to speak, I was impressed by all of the new additions they had added. For the time being, I was able to truly say that the CU was in-fact an improvement. The game continued getting better with the release of the JtL expansion. Heck, even the RotW expansion wasn't half-bad. But the most recent NGE has completely and utterly destroyed this game...
For over a year I casually ground my way to Jedi, and I almost unlocked it to. But I heard rumors in some magazine that SWG had switched to a new system where the style of fighting was more like Diablo 2. I also heard the most shocking rumor of all, which said that they had gotten rid of the skill point system and implented a permenant class system. To me that was taking away the very thing that made SWG unique.
Anyways, I logged on and was asked to choose a profession. Seeing as how I was working towards unlocking a Jedi for so long, I decided to choose just that. The result was ridiculous. I was converted into a cl86 Jedi and given free robes, lightsabers, and other such force items. I had gone from a Jedi potential to near master in the click of a button.
Besides taking all of the fun out of the game, it also drove off almost every single person I knew in the game. Every city besides Mos Eisley is deserted, including the old hotspots like Theed and the Mining Outpost. New added content is half-assed and repetitive, leaving nothing to look forward to in the game. So after two years of an amazing MMORPG, I, like so many others have deleted my account. Since SOE has stated that they will not be changing from the NGE, I don't think I'll ever reactivate my account. Now I will sample all of my old and new MMO's to find something as great as SWG used to be.
To SOE: *CENSORED*...?
