Most, if not all, fads and subcultures have wannabes. In the post-Revolutions Matrix, the general bluepill population sees the large amount of redpills as an emerging subculture. This got me thinking recently: are there poser redpills? And if there are, what would they be like?
In any case, the poser redpills would probably be in a great deal of danger if they were mistaken as real redpills.

Sorry, couldn't resist! That's an interesting think to ask as there
would be people drawn to the redpill culture not because of their
disbelief in the system but because we're so darn cool! I think in
general we are viewed as weird and dangerous, so that would put of the
majority of people from "joining the club" but some might do and take
the redpill- these probably become Cypherites!! But pretender redpills
is an interesting idea- hhmm I'll give it a think.

Cypherites FTW. If anyone/Org is posing it was Cypher. They just THINK they want to know the truth.
EPN are just a group of followers who are lost.
If by poser you mean people who just hang out with real red pills cause they look cool but are still blue pills then I think you might be thinking a little too hard :robotvery-happy:

Yeah, that's pretty much what I meant. Subcultures tend to have wannabes. Like goths have "mall goths" (correct me if I'm wrong, though).
My question was only half-serious. But wannabes are a natural occurrence. ^^;;

~I'm sure there are no poser redpills, you're either red or blue, and most blues tend to avoid reds because of all the gunfights. The only blues that try to understand the reds...eventually become red, so they don't count.

if any od you remember from waaaay early on. There was a bluepill who accidently picked up an led device. and was told to quickly follow a group who were all carrying the device. apparently they were running from someone/s
and when he asked a stupid question, one of the led carrying guys smirked, took his led device and they all hyperjumped off.
just thought i would share that tidbit

It makes sense that there would be poser redpills, especially since they are already known to the mainstream media via the Sentinel. There have been many articles about them by Andres Bonifacaieo, and with that kind of coverage, there are bound to be curious bluepills who copy the superficial aspects of the redpill culture. Like the "mall goths" mentioned earlier, poser bluepills would be like the people who copy vampires--but only in their looks since they obviously can't copy the supernatural abilities of vampires. Similarly, poser redpills wouldn't be able to copy the abilities of a redpill, but they would copy the look.

This is an intruiging idea. I'm sure there would be, but in the end wouldn't they wake up? I think the wanna-be redpills trying to copy redpill subculture would end up stumbling on the truth eventually. At least some would.

Either that or die because someone mistook them for a real redpill. Imagine an Elite Guard walking up to one of them, pulling out an SMG and saying "Give Commander Lock my regards" before shooting the poor person and expecting them to auto-jackout.

I like the idea that blues might try to emulate redpill behavior. Like the Sentinel, I don't think they would know the true nature of the culture they aspired to be part of, but would attempt to "bend reality" in their own way or perhaps spend their lives trying to spy on redpill activities in a sort of hero worship.
Nice idea for a PDE, actually.

I think that any "poser" redpills would be encouraged by agents to drop it. Unlike a ligit potental redpill, which would most likely them that they give them a phone call and they will give them the finger, a poser would most likely be scared straight having people that look like FBI agents take them into a white room and intimidated into beliving that its nothing they should be involved in.
