I was recently playing Path of Neo over again and found this particular character curious. The Merovingian mentions that she is his "best" and that she is even better than Neo. Of course, the second allegation proves to be false as Neo beats and kills the woman and goes on to defeat the Smith Virus, something The Witch obviously could not have done.
But, despite the fact that she is dead and will likely never come up in the Matrix storyline again, who was she? Was she an Exile? Or was she actually a Redpill? If The Merovingian were to compare her to Neo, it would suggest to me that she was a Human and not another Program. And if she was a Human, what does this suggest about The Merovingian? Could there have been others he Awakened and perhaps used as Operatives of his own even during the days of Neo?
Just a topic for thoughtful discussion. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this "Witch".

What can i say....

a very hard to kill exile...

She seemed to have control over some "parts" of the Matrix but, honestly, The One's powers are much more complex.

I'd have to guess she was a program written by The Merovingian. Perhaps trying to emulate the One?

I wish MxO had giant ants, and exiles who broke stuff and threw them...

Path of Neo is not official canon, don't worry about it. It was just a nifty side game so we could play as Neo.

Anything which manages to parody Jack Thompson AND have him Smith-ficated is canon enough for me.

But as for the redpill claims, that was probably just a bit of the ol' smack-talk the Merv be laying down.

Personally, I consider some of it canon, and some of it not. I don't think the extended chase for the Keymaker was canon, but the training levels were.

You know what the extended chase with the Keymaker reminded me of? That part in DragonballZ where Frieza sent his "Death Ball" into the planet and it would blow up in 5 minutes, then had a 4 1/2 minute fight with Goku that lasted something like 2 hours...SMILEY

Well, if you want to consider it canon, think of the Witch sort of like, say, The Trainman. The Trainman is only powerful in the trainstation. Could the Witch just be an exile that's powerful only in the Chateau? I mean, the Merovingian is known to stretch things a bit. The Witch IS better than Neo, at least, in the Chateau. (Doesn't mean she's better than Neo and that other girl fighting together, mind you.)

Yeah, about that loud-mouthed Exile...what's the deal? I thought I was supposed to defend her or something, but then she dies during the battle, nothing happens, and I proceed to lay waste to Ms. PsychoMerv.

Was there some sort of secret to unlock by keeping her alive, or did I glitch my way past that level? Hee hee.

Saving the rogue Witch and keeping her alive helps you somewhat in the battle against the Witch.  You also get some extra dialogue, and she helps you find the door out of the level.  But whether she lives or dies doesn't have a massive effect on anything.

The only canon things were The Matrix Triology of course, The Animatrix and Enter The Matrix. Path of Neo, some of the stuff maybe.

What I want to know is what happens to the other witch, the one you
rescue? While obviously not as powerful as the main witch she still has
some quite cool abilities, but after rescuing her from the purple witch
she just stays in the room telling Neo that she thinks they'll meet
again soon (I haven't finished the game, but I doubt that happens) and
stays in the room. Merv obviously wasn't too pleased with her at the
time so does she escape, or d'you think she pulls an Ookami and becomes
his head witch person? Also, besides help Neo, what had she done to
displease Mero? Lastly in the room of the Witch there were three people
you could rescue- where the other two illusions of some sort or is
there a group of expendable witches under M's control? If anyone knows
cool- but some speculation is porbably the most we'll get i think, but
speculation is fun!

Also as to the Witch's power, she was herself occupying a construct of
her own, like the other two place weren't part of the chateux, just
linked to it by doors so yes that probably increased her power.

Enter the Matrix did have some pointless things like the whole Chateau thing was completely pointless.

Keep playing, you wouldn't want to go and ruin the surprise, now would you?  :smileytongue:

Isn't that enough?  That Merv guy doesn't take kindly to someone helping out his enemies.

Sorry, phrased that a bit wrong- the rogue witch is already tied up in
the dungeon before she runs into Neo and later decides to help him-
what had caused this?

When Henchmen get bored, bad things happen to "good" girls.

That was what I thought at first- and it does seem to be what's going
on then- but the Mero says "I was planning on deleting her anyway" and
also she really seems to have it in for the other Witch!!

Oh yeah- I completed the game now- no Witch. I thought that maybe they
were going to live happily ever after after beating SmithZilla, oh
well!!
