At least give the guy some sunglasses. It's pretty sad that he's not even wearing shades. Anthony Wong may not have agreed to having his likeness in the game but shaving him down was good enough. You didn't have to take away the man's sunglasses, too. In the Matrix taking away a man's sunglasses is like taking away his beer in the real. It's a line you just don't cross.

No wonder Captain Roland is such a jerk.  Nobody gave him sunglasses. SMILEY

Ooo ooo! I have a question that probably won't be answered because i'm slow with posting but here is, if someone else wants to ask.

Veil uses, I believe, the male /mood sexy. Is there any way that we can use moods from the opposite gender?

whats the hardest part of making critical missions.

Keeping them fresh and exciting. We try to have at least one thing per mission, whether it's a chance of finding a hidden new clue item, or a meeting with a unique story NPC, or a type of fight that the player probably hasn't had many of, or a new wrinkle to the storyline, or something like that, that even players who've played since the beginning will find new and enjoyable. That can be a real challenge, and I don't think we're successful every single time, but that's what we shoot for.

Would it ever be possible for a revision of the coding system so that players get to chose the colour of their buffed clothing, for example, they find a piece of clothing, decompile it, then when they go to compile the code, they get to chose the colour of the coat/pants/gloves/shoes etc.

I'm only saying this because it would make many more people much happier, also it would stop so many people looking so similar.

Aswell as this I thought, instead of bosses dropping actual items of clothing, they drop the buffs you could encode into any piece of clothing for that slot, for example, instead of getting a direwolf, you get the code of the direwolf that can be implanted into any piece of codeable outerwear. This would also make many more people keep up to date with the coder trees.

Or is there something like this in consideration, because i hate always wearing the same thing for everyone else for MA (ive acutualy stopped caring about my rolls and started to wear purple and black outfit thingys, very funky lookin may i add lol)

Thanks.

A lot of ideas have been thrown out on this subject, and personally I kind of like the idea of having buffs associated with equipped chips or codes or something that are separate from your actual clothing. This would be a rather massive change to the game, though, so don't expect to see it soon, if ever.

I may as well mention here (maybe I've mentioned it before, too--ah well) that the original spec for the game did not include buffed items at all. But then some dev one day said something about "phat l00t" and it was all downhill from there. SMILEY

Nothing specific is occurring to me at the moment; although, in general I've been surprised that the vast majority of questions are about stuff that hasn't happened yet, rather than about stuff that's in the game currently, or the development reasons behind it, etc.

Rarebit, what do you think of the possibility of adding the use of Pixel Shaders to aid in the special effects of the games, such as the streaming code?

It would remove the load of animated textures, while improving the quality of it. In the event someone doesn't have the right video card to support the pixel shading, the animated textures could be used in lieu of them.

Thoughts?

I believe we make use of basic pixel shaders here and there. Updating the FX to make use of the latest shader stuff available on newer graphics cards would require updating our renderer somewhat, I should think, and we might have to look at changing our required system specs. It's something I'm sure we'd like to do eventually, but it isn't a priority at this time.

#10400134267 12/17/2005 17:39:12 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
While I'm not an LET or LESIG member, and I'm by far no expert at the inner-workings of the LET, I have a few hints as to how to get LET members to show up at your player-run events:
  • You have to work around their schedule. Player-run events that take place during the week typically have had more success attracting LET characters than those on the weekends. Also, consider what time it is on the west coast...an event that takes place at 3PM on the west coast is much easier for the LET to attend than one that takes place at 9PM.
  • Make sure wherever you're hosting the event is easy to find. Providing only clues or asking for RSVP-only attendance makes it hard for the LET to know where your event is.
  • Stay in-character at all times.
  • Make it easy for the LET to determine which character should make an appearance. For example, an event run by EndlessVoid called for individual meetings for Zion, Machine, and Merovingian operatives, and a representative of each organization made an appearance. I assume they have a much harder time figuring out who to send when it's a mix of every organization in the same area.
Hope that helps somewhat. SMILEY

We act like Norman Bates because when we're told things after the fact.  It comes from paying for a service that changes without warning.  But, let's not dwell on that.   This two-way comm. is very welcomed.

Anyway, my questions:  Did/Do MxO devs benchmark this game with others, which others?  Did the CR2 idea come from internal (benchmarking) or external (player) requests?

Oh yeah, who's got the coolest desktop and what does it have on it?
