Thanks, I just hate seing all the bright colors in the dreary world of the Matrix. It is cool if you like it I would just like to be able to turn it off. It cant be that hard to do.

Options/Video/Advanced
Down towards the bottom left is a drop down where you can choose effects to be shown for no-one, just you, just your group (team?), and for everyone. It covers all the crazy lights and images that pop out of you during combat, when you use an ability, and even the loot effect.
There is a seperate toggle box for combat text (i.e. the damage numbers that pop up on you, etc.)
That reminds me, anyone know what "Load Sector LOD's" does??? heh... threadjacked a dev ;-}

All effects are already toggleable. Check your graphics options. Unfortunately it's the option to turn ALL effects on and off. Really really really really really really helps the fps to turn them off, but makes it hard to fnid the right desk in your mission ;-}

PBlade wrote: Will you be considering the hotbar proposals put forward by the players? As there's some controversy over the current one for CR2.0
Look, if you guys are gonna get this upset over the hotbar, maybe we'll just remove it entirely! Now you got no combat UI, and no way to run macros, single-click use items--we just streamlined the game for you about 300%!
Seriously, though, we have no intention of reducing the number of non-combat hotbar buttons you have available during interlock. That screenshot did not show everything that will end up going in with the combat update, as far as my understanding goes.

I don't know if I'm supposed to divulge the exact particulars or anything, so I'll just say that yeah, you're on the right track. A mix of expensive commercially available products, and tools developed in-house for stuff specific to this project.

since the matrix started, has there been any secret content that v few
ppl have found? ie stuff devs have stuck in and most ppl still don't
know about?
Hmmm... well I'm sure you've been in the secret DT club by now... do you think there's any more stuff like that hidden around the Matrix?
Actually I'm not sure, there might be some new puzzles in the game
already that people haven't noticed yet...

I always wondered where they got the audio recording for the female (or male even) "cake eating" sound effect. Even better...someone must have modeled/posed for all the movements/moods/emotes. Who takes credit for all our non-combat "moves" in MxO? wish I could stick around to rapid fire my posting...maybe one of you fellas could drop a question for me? lol!

It's going great. I know I have my favorite but it can't win due to the sheer quantity of swearing... but it's really funny.
Walrus was showing me a bunch of the entries and they are all really
great. We have a fantastic community here that just oozes creativity.
#1040013395912/17/2005 05:29Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
I've been curious about this since the LET characters started showing up back in late beta. I know you guys can assume the identity of movie characters and MxO storyline characters using LET tools. But I've always wondered, can you assume the identities of other characters, like the neighborhood contacts?

Actually, no, because
a) I'm not in the office, so I don't have access to a server that has snowballs yet

I have little idea how those work, but I'm guessing that they require the time of a database administrator, and a DBA is about the most expensive guy you can find, so the answer is probably no. I have to beg and plead for months and months to get any DBA love myself for little design features I need (*nudges Walrus and hopes he remembers that request we put in about database tool for Live Event character name overrides* .

I can't remember, exactly. It wouldn't have been a surprise, because most of the people I had worked with on AVP2 as QA Lead had already moved over to MXO. As far as I can recall, it was mostly a feeling of relief that I wouldn't have to worry about shipping a Gold Master for at least a few years, mixed with a lurking dread that finishing up the game could very well be the most crushing crunch time ever.

Is there a chance we can get a new board on this forum where only developers such as yourself can create threads, and those threads would include screenshots and chatlogs from all the important live character interaction occurring across all the servers? For example. Threads could look like this:
Syntax – Niobe requests operatives to train commandos Vector-hostile – General’s commandos gatecrash Merovingian’s Party Recursion - Masked men attack Mara C
And so on... It would make it easier for players to be able to check one forum and see all the important happenings within the game rather than searching each private board.
It could be set up like the Broadcast Depth forum, where only team members can actually create the threads but anyone can reply to them.
Oh man, and here I just spent time typing out a reply to your IM. Oh wait, I can just copy and paste that here:
Ooh, but that puts pressure on me to keep producing logs and screenshots all the time!
