i thought we where starring down the barrel of a huge patch , mines only 13 or so mb this hte same for everyone else?

#10400095171 03/28/2006 05:28:29 Re: small patch size?
You might want to click on the switch in the launceher before you login that says "full system check" because when I started it was only 13.7 Mb but after i did that it is at (at the time of writing this) 61.6 Mb. Just thought that I would throw that in there.

EDIT: Make sure you click it after it says launcher is up to date or you will repatch the launcher.

well the servers are set to admin only atm so im guessing its somethin to do with testing..
#10400095174 03/28/2006 05:31:48 Re: small patch size?

Times like these i wish i was an admin, lol.

Oh, they might just be testing the event side of things, like the concert grounds and the such.

CR2.0 probably wasnt in the lil admin patch.

The Matrix Online servers will be going offline for implementation of Update 42 at 4:00AM Pacific Standard Time (1200 hours GMT) on March 28, 2006. Update 42 includes Combat Revision 2.0 and content for this weekend's Anniversary Event. Servers are expected to be offline for approximately 2 hours.
Make sure you have some Inventory space clear, as we'll be granting RSI Hack items to all players. In addition, anyone who has logged on to the External Playtest server at some point up to this weekend will be getting the first baseball cap in the Live game--with a Beta logo on it.
Also keep in mind that all character Stats will be reset tomorrow morning. Make sure you add your Stat points back in before venturing out into the Matrix!

Devs allways say approximately

i guess so cause this was the last word on it.
Update 42, scheduled for March 28th, is going to be a very large download--and by "very large," I mean that QA estimates it will be over 500 MB of files that you are required to download in order to play.

well i said it would be small to a friend, cause last night live > QA update was only 20mb or less, and then it worked.

As a system admin myself, I've learned a few things over the years.
1.) Always say that things will be done in double the time you actually think they'll be done. This is called "padding".
2.) If people need your task completed in half the time, it will invariably take 4 times as long to complete the work. This is "The Urgency Clause".
3.) The fix is always something simple, and you'll feel like a total idiot, but luckily come up a crafty explanation that will blow peoples minds.

No need to guess: QA is logged on doing a final check. When they say "go", we open. If they find a problem, we fix it, then we open.
#10400095193 03/28/2006 07:00 Re: small patch size?
I just logged in with the 13MB patch.  I have the dual hotbars and the RSI hack, but it makes me nervous.  I'm sure that's not everything, right?
#10400095197 03/28/2006 08:21 Re: small patch size?
Based on the issues people are having, I'm betting we are still in mid-patch.  Maybe they opened the servers to do a stability test before dumping the whole thing on us?  Time to show some patience *twitch, twitch*.  :smileytongue:
#10400095198 03/28/2006 07:13 Congratulations Devs!
As a software developer myself, I know what a HUGE milestone it is to get CR 2.0 out the door.  Well, you did it.  I'm sure you won't have that collective sigh of relief for a least a few days after the Anniversary Event.  In the meantime, grab a cold one and give yourself a pat on the back.  You deserve it.  Congratulations!

Not a stupid question.  The "small patch" thread is here. :smileyhappy:

To answer your question, you'll see "blue sky" stuff in this patch. This week there will probably be some build-up to the main event, which starts Friday and runs through Sunday.

You really need to relax dude.. And you're not reupgrading anything. You're upgrading the same amount that everyone has to upgrade *newly*.

I refuse to spend any money to code all the lost abilities and reupgrade all the prerequisite. There's just no excuse.

Don't know what to tell ya then.

Tell me why?
#10400095403 03/28/2006 12:10:36 Re: Official CR 2.0 Discussion Thread

I told ya why. You're wigging out over 3 new Awakened abilities that don't require any frags to code...

Then you're wigging out because they gave more purpose to info farming. So obviously there's no pleasing you. SMILEY

I'm wigging out because I'm missing my entire Kung Fu Grandmaster and Upgrade Master trees that were there when I logged off last night. I'm wigging out because my Team Patcher and my Martial Arts are at level 1.

Oh, well, if you got whole trees missing thats a different story... Are you trying to load using /loadlo, or you're going through the Ability tree? Because those abilities should still be there.
#10400095408 03/28/2006 12:18:57 Re: Official CR 2.0 Discussion Thread
They're just gone from the code archive for no reason.
#10400095413 03/28/2006 12:24:24 Re: Official CR 2.0 Discussion Thread
Alright, thanks so much. What am I supposed to be missing and what should have been down leveled?
#10400095417 03/28/2006 12:30:17 Re: Official CR 2.0 Discussion Thread

Its mostly Awakened abilities that you'll be missing. (I don't have the list of them on this computer, maybe someone can answer that for you).

Other than that, if you had the KungFu Tree, you should still have it. That tree was totally unaffected. The only thing changed was that some of the abilities level higher now. I know Spy tree changed around a little but the removed abilities should be automatically replaced by their corresponding replacements...

Vex, any chance of a screenshot of your questionable trees?

Well then it's understandable wigging out!

Definitely bug this... What should have happened is that nothing downleveled. Some of the caps did go up, although the ones that are supremely important (Karate, Handguns, etc) already capped at 50. Just now they are much more important. You should still have every single ability you had, aside from a few in the Hacker, Spy, and Coder trees that either moved in the tree or changed into a new ability. For instance if you had Avoidance, it's been put into the horadric cube and transformed into Overclock.

Your old Awakened abilities are still there, you just can't load them.

For anyone who missed Walrus' latest: In our next hotfix you'll be able to sell them to vendors for the entire amount of money you put into levelling them. You'll also be able to do this with any of your other abilities, although you won't get red frags back. The red frags will be changed to drop more frequently for a while.

Anyhow stuff like whole missing trees, abilities that disappeared... please /bug this or post here so we know how much of this is happening.

I logged out and back in and it seems to work now, although I'm missing patches of some abilities here and there like Passive Code and such,
#10400095501 03/28/2006 13:13:03 WHERE DO I GET THOSE BLUE FRAQS
dose anewon know where to get blue fraqs to get those items from the vendor in tabor park
#10400095502 03/28/2006 13:18:31 Re: Official CR 2.0 Discussion Thread
Actually you can put ALOT of stuff on the hotbars...

Here is what NOT to put on it and what NOT to do...

1. Ability buffs of a lower level. Higher level buffs have the base stats and more... so no point in having rifleman buff and Master rifle man buff both on your hotbar... go for the highest level one.

2. I found that creating a pair of hotbars for each LO worked best. Trying to put all your buffs on one hotbar just does'nt work (unless you are a patcher or something like that =p ) Creating the hotbars one apart makes it easy to get to them. IE 11 and 12 are for my howitzer skills.

Now there is one thing I think needs to be fixed with the hotbars that I have said for awhile.

We need to have the speed, power, grab, block, and evade in their own window or something. I find I waste alot of hotbar space with them by putting them in almost every pair of bars I setup.

So, does someone else see something wrong with this picture?

In positions 7, 8, 9, and 10 of the first hotbar, and 1 and 3 of the second hotbar, you have all sorts of title upgrades. You really only need one of those, since you can only have one running at a time, and I'm assuming you'll want the grandmaster upgrade. You can put it on a spare hotbar and click once when you start the game. (and again of course if you die, just like any other buff)

On the second hotbar, positions 4 5 and 6, you have handgun styles which don't really need to be there, as you get automatically switched between styles depending on what weapon you choose in the Melee and Free Fire dropdowns, or the specials you do.

So you can save 8 spaces right there (9 if you move the GM upgrade to a spare hotbar).

[oops liquidz said this already while I was typing... oh well SMILEY ]

May I ask where I can go sell the abilities that I don't want? Because I went to 3 different vendors already and they tried to rip me off offering me 100 info for Technique which I had to spend around 8 million leveling up.
