I like hats.
#10300002647 03/03/2006 19:24:06 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Are you giving the hats based on QA starting now or if we have been testing since QA went up?
#10300002648 03/03/2006 19:39:00 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Why make the beta clothing tradeable? That means any random beta player can create a new character and trade his beta clothes to any noob he wants....

This is the same problem you have with Hyper-Jump beta anyone can maek a new character and trade it off...

What was the point of being in beta and getting these special clothes?

I also disagree on making beta clothing tradeable.  It was granted to beta players for a reason.  On another note...mmm baseball cap. :smileyhappy:
#10300002650 03/03/2006 19:42:50 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
I agree with you, Lithium

I'm interested in hearing about the Care Bear Stare.....:smileyindifferent:
#10300002652 03/03/2006 19:47:05 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
I'll own a baseball cap!  On a side note I hope all you folks are ready for the new combat cause im pwnin someone.   Anyway everything looks good.
#10300002653 03/03/2006 19:49:31 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Even though I cannot wear said hat (Cypherite and all), I do very much like it. I have to ask, though, what does the female's look like? Same one, or different?
#10300002654 03/03/2006 19:56:44 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Although the delay of the event fudges with my work schedule a bit, it's okay SMILEY  It actually may work better for me this way anyways SMILEY

Excited about the combat system and the hat! And i rofl'd at the care bear stare.
#10300002655 03/03/2006 20:00:09 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
*sigh*

I wish Beta clothing wouldn't be tradeable. There will be no way to know if you're in Beta or not, now.

I would be more excited about the baseball cap, but...
#10300002656 03/03/2006 20:13:40 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Yeah. Wally, Wally, I can't imagine a worse way to disrespect us beta players than to make the one thing that stands as proof of our veterancy a common item...
#10300002657 03/03/2006 20:13:48 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Wewt for Baseball Caps! Boo for tradeable Beta clothing! :p

#10300002659 03/03/2006 20:18:25 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
What about us poor people who had to recycle our beta clothes because of the lack of inventory space...

Can we get another copy of the outfit Preeeetty pleaaaase :smileyvery-happy:

meh, i was in beta.. not for long.. but still. I never got my account transfered so im just tagged nonbeta.. I don't really care about items... but that jump, man do i want it :-p
#10300002662 03/03/2006 20:52:21 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006

Personally, I have no real interest in a baseball cap... well, other than for the collectors value.  That said, I guess it will be nice to be recognized for the (admittedly minimal) time I've spent on the test server.

Also, I'm not even a Beta player, but I think making Beta clothing tradeable is a mistake.

I'm still not completely sold on the CR, but if the features have been locked anyway (hopefully just for the time being) it might as well be made live.  No better way to test balance than to have the whole community banging at it instead of the select few who use the test server at the moment.  ... once again though, I hope certain aspects of the CR *cough toomuchclickingandlackoftactilefeedback cough* are given another look after it goes live.

#10300002663 03/03/2006 21:19:29 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
I never got my beta jacket. I've got the rest of the stuff.
Finally, I'll be able to complete the outfit.
... Besides, beta clothing was ALWAYS eventually going to be tradeable.
It's not like this is a new and sudden development. SMILEY

#10300002664 03/03/2006 21:28:22 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Thank God.
Finally, my female characters will get some black glasses.
#10300002665 03/03/2006 21:34:09 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Yeah, I don't understand why beta clothing is going to be tradeable. Now any random person can trade and wear it.

Baseball cap is a nice gift for some QA testing, although can we have the option to wear it backwards? SMILEY
#10300002666 03/03/2006 22:03:27 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Please don't make beta clothes tradeable.  The exclusivity of the clothes will be lost entirely when any beta player can make a temporary alt, hand over the beta clothes to a non-beta player, and then delete that alt.  SMILEY
#10300002667 03/03/2006 22:14:04 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Meh...  it's only clothing.  Everyone knows who was in Beta and who wasn't.  I don't think some noob with the clothes will make any difference.  Besides, like I said, it'll be nice to have black glasses for my female alts.
~Fen
As a side note, no I wasn't in Beta, I missed it by one day.  I can see where you all are coming from with the clothes, but honestly...  Why would someone say they were in Beta when they weren't?  There's nothing to gain from it.  And, in case you all have forgotten, there's one thing you guys got that NO ONE will ever have...  the Eyepocalypse.
#10300002668 03/03/2006 22:47:10 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
please don't make the beta clothes tradable. I like that we're all gonna get baseball caps but to take away the exclusivity of being an actual MxO beta tester from before the game went live is a slap in the face to all those people still around who have stuck through the good and bad times of this game. Everyone will have beta clothes even noobs 2 years from now will be wearing beta clothes and claiming that they helped back in the first beta. no....that's completely not right. Give everyone a hat and be done with it. Everyone will like the hat nad not complain but getting something for 2 hours of pvp on the test server that people had worked months for before the game went live is completely disrespectful.
#10300002669 03/03/2006 23:23:24 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
So instead of rewarding Beta players who spent more time on MxO than anything, you would rather make the clothes treatable, and worth a lot of info on the market, instead of simply adding the lost item to the rightfully owned Beta player?  This is totally unfair to us Beta players, we have not received a gift which is outstanding.
I also hope we will get more than just a Baseball cap for reporting in bugs constantly over the past month or two.  I mean I just don't see the developers showing the respect which the people who give good feedback and doing a job for the developers on their own free time deserve more than just a piece of clothing.
It is just disrespectful to people from MxO Beta and/or the EP Testers who stick through the bugs and report back to help improve the game/product.

we are also going to push the Anniversary Event back by one week.

ROFLOL.

Typical.

On the beta clothing?  It fits with the "anniversary" idea.  Remember November 11th release date?  Now they are pushing back an "anniversary" date?  lol  :smileyvery-happy:

What do they care about beta players, and showing them concern, when they've trashed all of our work in the current game redesign.   The beta clothing just fits with their mindset . . .

And a cap? A baseball cap?
I remember Neo running around with a baseball cap 24/7 with his friend Morpheus who had dreadlocks and to his left: Mr. Lock who is in love with Neo and... and... and... and they all wear baseball caps... SMILEY
Caps are so matrix!
Well, nvm but dont make beta staff tradable.
btw: Do you remember a toon called HyperjumpBetaSeller? Thats the MxO thank you to all the preorder players and now MxO is going to say thank you to all the beta players  SMILEY
#10300002672 03/04/2006 00:15:00 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
lol Baseball caps were supposed to be in the game a LONG time ago...  back when they introduced non-buffed bandannas in the game.  Besides, don't you find it rather ironic that the symbol for a hat is a baseball cap, and there not actually be any wearable baseball caps in the game?
#10300002673 03/04/2006 01:02:48 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Thanks for the update! I actually agree beta clothes shouldnt be tradeable like that.....and i dont have any...however that wont stop me getting the red shades SMILEY
#10300002674 03/04/2006 02:05:21 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006

#10300002675 03/04/2006 02:31:56 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Oh update 42 sould be one of the best yet, can't wait for the anniversary. One problem is tradeable Beta items, surely that completly defeats the point of them being a reward :smileymad:! Correct me if i'm wrogn but are they not a prize for entering the beta and a reward for continuing playing, if they are made tradeable people who joined yesterday would be able to wear them, where is the sense in this. Please explain your selves!

Neither do i is there some problem as i would like a jacket aswell, i have everything else apart from the jacket :smileysurprised:
#10300002677 03/04/2006 04:05:02 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
The jacket was only given to a few select people, ie. those with over 20 bugs or something.

If they could dosomething similar for the dedicated EP players, that'd be nice.
#10300002678 03/04/2006 04:17:55 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Jeeez, it's just a videogame... why should really anyone care if someone of the few from Beta that are still here, lose their priviligues of wearing Beta clothes? I have the clothes. Do I feel any less special? Why should I? I mean, come on; it's just a freakin video game... no one in the Real World cares about virtual clothes in MxO...

Heh, now I can get that sweet red Beta jacket... hehe....

very interesting news i agree with the beta clothes NOT to be tradeable however adding buffs to our beta clothes would have been a better direction. but  oh well i'll take the baseball hat.
in the rsi hack will we be able to set the attribute points passed 30 ?

*sigh* Beta Clothes Tradable? Thats just sad to hear. If you were a beta player then you should be given the beta clothing. Making them tradable just makes them lose their worth. Making just the beta hats tradable for people who try CR2 before March 20, would be much better in my opinion.
#10300002681 03/04/2006 08:05:20 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
What about addressing the issue of the UI which a majority of those that have tested it says needs changes? Ignoring this issue raises the distinct possibility of the live game seeing the same mass exedus the QA saw in its first week?
And please fix sneak before it goes live the detection/time system fundamentally undermines how the ability needs to be used!

Can't agree more.

BTW CR2.0 will kill this game.

What are the Devs thinking of? Dosen't a deserted EP server say something to them? Like no-way-Hosay!

It isn't desserted.
A lot of people dont test anymore because of the huge lag a few weeks ago.
CR2.0 will not kill this game.

The lag had nothing to do with it it was abandoned a long time before and countless threads remarked on it. I don't believe CR2 will kill this game but it is essential to address the UI so that it has a real chance to do the exact opposite which is what we all want surely. Why invite that same reception when it can be avoided?

#10300002685 03/04/2006 09:25:39 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006

Let's see....I re-subbed for the month - figured the anniversary would be a good time to give ol' MxO a chance to win my heart back. Bound to be as good as they can make it, eh? So now, ya gotta wonder....

What sort of rocket scientist decided to roll out an un-necessary, controversial, content-free combat upgrade INSTEAD OF content?

This really reminds me of the 'flaming fists of fury' upgrade. Golly, remember the hundreds of threads in the forums, whining, nay, DEMANDING, flashy special effects? Yah, me neither. I sure don't remember dozens, or even oneseys and twoseys, of threads about how "Interlock is da SuCk!, either.  MxO is going to live or die because of the STORY - other than that, it doesn't have a single thing that any other MMO has ('cept the great community).

So, I would imagine that SOE's seen a little spike in subscriptions over the last few days. Ya think those (returning) folks were signing up thinking, "Great, they'll really pull out the stops for this event!" or do ya suppose they were thinking, "Yay! New combat system!" Huh.

I think ya'll have driven enough stakes into this game. Just set it on fire now and be done with it. Sheesh.

what i thinks messed up is i upated my account for 1 month just to see if CR 2 was gonna make the game better, plus to see the event and have some fun, and base these two things on deciding to come back in game. now im F'd outta 30 bucks cause i godda renew my membership on the b4 the 30th lol
- always a ride with MXO

100% agree also neville, was nothing wrong with the combat...and everyone is hoping for a kick *CENSORED* event to give the game more hype..,..yet for some reason i feel this event is gonna bomb i.e. everyone running to one place for a clue and battling lgging everyone out.....memories?

Strange, because I seem to recall hundreds of threads about how much hackers were overpowered and that they shouldn't even be in the game because they didn't exist in the movies, blah blah blah. Then there were all the problems people had with everyone looking exactly the same because all the best clothes were obviously the best and therefore everyone wore them. The difference in 1 or 2 levels instnatly made the higher level win, as well, which annoyed the lower levels. Oh, and don't forget the constant bugs with interlock and multi-on-one combat. With enough people in combat, you end up with 2 minutes between rolls.

And guess what? That's EXACTLY what CR 2.0 is here to fix. Hackers are no longer the uber-awesome class, stats are MUCH more important than clothes, lower-levels actually stand a chance, and combat is no longer multi-on-one and much MUCH more fluid. So *CENSORED* and pay attention.
#10300002689 03/04/2006 10:45:32 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
Hey, can you make the Awakening glasses tradable too? Please!
#10300002690 03/04/2006 10:48:46 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - Friday, March 3, 2006
So let me get this straight. People are actually reading  what has been posted before they reply? Only 3 or 4 posts out of 5 pages dont say exactly the same thing. "*CENSORED* DONT MAKE BETA CLOTHES TRADABLE OMG WHY DID YOU CHANGE COMBAT IT DIDNT SUCK." Stop saying the same things over and over. This is a chronic problem on these forums and it makes them less enjoyable to read for everyone. So your going to say you have a right to an opinion. Your completely and totally right. But get your own opinion instead of echoing somebody elses.

What was asked for was a fix to the current system, not a new system, hundreds of threads suggested very clearly how it was possible. Clothes remain as important as ever and in fact for pvp will be more important...they have said there will be more variety of buffs but that was just as easy with the current system and nothing to do with cr2. It was asked for multi on one IL to be fixed, it was instead thrown away. I have NEVER seen a complaint that a lower level saw it a problem that those above them were more effective.

The promise of the original game was multi one one IL as a unique feature - its gone, the promise was a MMO where you would not have to specialise in a class multi LO's would make you totally versatile - thats been removed.

While I respect those that prefer the new system and confess it has many laudable features, it remains only reasonable that suitable consideration is given to those who will lose key features they really like here. And on the hacker front I would just as soon it were removed in total tbh. More importantly in an honest attempt to 'sell' CR2 to the many doubters the UI needs to be tackled.

LOL. I love this last-ditch argument. Nobody's been buying the BS so far and now it's time to drag out the snake-oil pitch. "CR 2.0 will fix everything! Meet girls! Make money fast! Grow new hair!"

Yeah, whatever.
