move getting a "pre-update" thread going too. Buzz is good! Thanks,
friend.

Cool. They actually listened and used my hotfix suggestion.
Using the Assassin Mask Ability now aggros mobs and activates the user's pvp flag when it affects another player.
So. to recap?
Assassin's mask at the end of DotD. That said, it's a very realistic
addition - the effect of somebody imitating the Assassin in the
streets of MegaCity would not be unlike the reaction one would get for
walking through a predominately black neighborhood in Klan robes.
Clever!
Exploit fixing is good....new criticals are better!
For some reason, I am not getting it.
O.o?
3.1 cinematic was released after the event ended.

But for those who are having the same problem...
Patch comes out Wednesday or Thursday this week!
*is excited*
But I will miss the Archeologist, I have a new reason to level now. -.-;
The Assassin's Mask is able to cause a "corruption pulse" effect when activated from the hotbar (the same way you'd activate the Awakening Jacket or Glasses). This special ability reportedly stuns everyone in a decently sized area... I'm not sure of its specific effects, but it used to be able to be activated without flagging the user. This is what has been changed.

Ya I'm hoping and praying and other non writable stuff that the 7th special mask is the Assassin's Mask. Maybe SOE heard all the complaints and decided to even the playing field.

It all gose downhill once you reach 50, all I know is that I am going to be glad when I hit Levl 15. :smileyvery-happy:
Walrus has already stated that the masks will only be

usable for the duration of the Halloween event. Personally I find it
sad that they will only be usable during the event however...
Well jack-o-lantern + new criticals + new bar decor = promising time for the weekend.
It fixes two things, one it allows people with the bug to type /pvp and actually be attackable, while also allowing them to now attack other players who are /pvp flagged. The exploit was that people with the bug could load up any patcher type tree and go around buffing and healling without being attacked.
Since we are on the animation topic...where's our cracking ground after a hyperjump!
I have been dying to see this animation since early beta...Please!

Yes, Bonopi, but my argument is it has been a very long "in good time" already. Been at this game for almost 2 years now

But yes, I agree, there was definitely some much needed stuff included
with this patch, and kudos to all involved for finally doing away with
this stuff.

the "10/21/05 Other Side of the Looking Glass", but I'm sure there'll
be an announcement in the appropriate section. The patch is going to
deploy on Wednesday or Thursday, after some additional testing.

point - what distinction does the Community draw between what happened
at Monolith and what's coming from SOE? Correctly, Esky's pointed out
that he's been waiting since beta for this one specific fix, and to
that extent he's waited very patiently for it with no results. On the
other hand, that was Monolith - their people, their corporate
philosophy, and their infrastructure. With the exceptions of Walrus and
20-odd others, all three of those things have changed. It's a change
that's brought, on the surface, a committment to reclamate the game
into what we know it can be and to respond to the communities wishes.
How much of a blank slate does SOE deserve? Do we forget past
grievances and give them a chance on hot button issues? I'd have to say
that we need to give them considerable leeway in this area until proven
otherwise. Yes, Esky's waited two years for his issue - but he hasn't
been waiting for SOE to give it to him. It's a different game, and it's
going to look like it in one month's time. No right or wrong answer,
just some thoughts to mull.
I hope they removed the flaming fist animations. I mean that is what we have been asking for, what we want and what this game needs. But from what I am reading it doesn't seem like they will be getting rid of the animation, just changing it. Archived image unavailable: 16x16_smiley-indifferent.html
But otherwise it seems like it will be a good patch. Looking forward to it! Archived image unavailable: 16x16_smiley-happy.html
Quote from D1:
Flaming fists of fury are no longer so flaming or furious. (Energized Attacks and Precise Blows have new effects.)

The masks you find for Haloween don't grant any buffs - so I doubt that the "7th Mask" will do so. Overall I seriously doubt that they will just give away Assassin masks - unbuffed ones maybe
And - while I'm glad about new visual effects for Precise Blow and Energized Attacks - how about fixing the fact that U cannot stagger or daze your opponent when using them FIRST before making new animations?

- Criticals (yay!)
- Back end of those fist animations (any1 know if the bug causing status being unable to be inflicted with the fists loaded has been fixed yet?)
- Several bug and exploit fixes, several of which i've /bugged :smileyhappy:
2 years?
Stress testing (when the majority of people got in) started a year ago (my 1 year anniversary has just passed. yay)
Prior to that there were a few by-application beta testers but I'm
pretty sure they only started that a few months before the stress test.
I may be wrong of course, but if what you're saying is true then you must've been testing this game around January 2004.
was a mis print. There's not really any story going on this week
so why should there be critical missions?

i agree with the Energised Attacks and Precise Blows bug, i think, though i havnt thoroughly tested, that Calm Body also has the same bug. very annoying, even more so then the animation

it's no misprint. Walrus confirmed it in another thread, by saying,
"...yes, there's more to this update than just Halloween." It's the
thread for the most recent Other Side of the Looking Glass.

The 3.1 part is either an error... since 3.1 is already there
, or they meant to type 3.2??
But great update, and that Sim bug is fixed too
anyway. 3.1 is already there, but the mission were for the death of the
assassin events, the new mission I believe will result in many choices being made, for the near future. You will find out in due time.

Pluribus Neo is upon us.
something? lol. What did you think they were about? Came with the 3.1
Cin, and similar content? Hmm, you do the math!
least. There's some very good stuff there, a lot of long term issues
resolved. Sim bug, Awful animations, anti-code shaper spam (No more
flashing disco parites for me
).Oh, and moving the archeologist to DT is going to be VERY much appreciated over on Vector
