it would be nice to have an npc that actually tells people about mara c and thats where everyone hangs out. cuz i know alot of people quit cuz they dont see the bulk of us around...

In that game, when you first come out of the tutorial, you come to a place where massive amounts of people like to hang out. The first thing you see is people holding costume contests, socializing, showing off emote binds, so on and so forth. It shows the new players that the game is not only populated, but players do more in the game than just running missions. Players know that they are not alone, and thus stay in the game.
This is why I did the Trial and stayed there. Got in on a Saturday and saw HUNDREDS of people flying around, contests, chit chat, etc....
It was refreshing and sad at the same time because it was exactly what I wished MxO was.
So ya, I agree with having the jump-off point be Mara C and at least have a chance of newbies see others and stick around....until they realize that thats basically the whole game population.

Michel, the Tabor collector tells about mara c. But you have to do the new 6th bonus Chessman mission to get the item to trade to Michel to get the message about mara. So it's not like stokes out of Uriah mention it. It should be an addition to uriah.
If I remember correctly, back in beta Mara C was not the starting hardline for newbies. For a fact, my first HL dropoff was Moriah East and I started a month and a half before the end of launch.
I think it has been discussed numerous times before but I don't think anyone really knows why Mara C is the hotspot of MxO. Maybe I'm wrong and it was the first HL during beta before I got in. Like someone above me said, "old habits die hard." And since the beginning of MxO-Time Mara Central has been the place to be. While the RP community has moved around a bit, Mara C remains the overall spot.
