Yeah, I know I sounded as a sour loser. What I was trying to say is that the crash disrupted the original flow of events and allowed Zion to take over the lobby first and later the roof. A normal LE in many ways, but as I said too fast. Not the kind of memory I want to keep, but the game still goes on. Now be a good Zionite and go back to rave at your cave, OK? :: wink ::

I kind of understand what you're saying.  And I certainly agree it was rather short-lived.  Even with the character crash I think it truly lasted all of 20minutes from their original appearance.  I was expecting to see them be made a level 100 or just incredibly high buffs and resistances.

I intially thought that the original crash was Rarebit pulling them off and actually weakening their buffs (Pace seemed to be regenning faster than we could hit her).  But I think, in retrospect, there was only a few of us attacking at the time.  Then the Zion zerg did truly take over.

I enjoyed the short-lived fighting, and seeing a few people hyper-jump to their deaths.  That was hilarious.

I still like how people think that only Zion lives underground. The surface is uninhabitable. Cold. Underground, where it's still warm. Geothermal heating and any other form of power consumption would easily draw the attention of the machines and, without the Truce in place, they'd likely eliminate any non-Machinist outpost they found.

It's completely illogical to think that just because you're not Zion, you don't live in a cave. But...another argument for another time.

Ha!  Bindi and I were actually talking about this the other day.  Mervs seem to act as if they live in plush, marbled castles drinking fine wine and eating filet mignon in the Real.  Guess what, guys?  You all live just like Zionites do.  You're not lounging on silk divans in the Real, sorry.  You're in hovercrafts that are likely worse off than Zion hovercrafts, since you don't have a city to refuel and recharge in.  The caves you live in are also likely unprotected and in much worse shape than Zion.  If you're lucky, you eat goop...  other than that, you probably have to scrounge for food which is likely to end up being cockroaches.  Until the Merovingian got the General's sentinels, he had no presence in the outside world.  So no, you're not chilling out in massive Merovingian outposts.  The Merovingian has no such thing.  Your comfort and power are only to be enjoyed INSIDE the Matrix, where the Frenchman resides.

Machinists are the only ones likely to have a real outpost and real supplies, with updated hovercrafts and weaponry.  As for food...  they probably have goop, but I bet the Machines supply them with food as well.  And hey, what do Machines use as a food source for humans...?  Enjoy your cherry milkshakes, toasters.

It seemed to me that if humanoids eat chicken then obviously they'd eat their own species; otherwise they'd just be picking on the chicken.

As a Merovingian, although I'd like to make a pithy remark about Zion cave monkeys, I can't dispute the realities of what you say.  So, we spend as much time as possible in the simultion.  But when we aren't jacked in, at least we wear shoes.  And we wear more than burlap dashikis.  You damned hippes.

Amazing seesaw battle today on Syntax! The Mervs pulled out the victory with a concentrated ambush on Agent Pace just after a massive CYPH/Machine push had taken down Ghost.

Tue Feb 10 14:29:45 2009 [System] {4}Ghost was just killed by Endomorph.

Tue Feb 10 14:32:29 2009 [System] {5}Agent Pace was just killed by hitmanben.

Good job everyone, Yup even though machines had the numbers, and the Accellerated programs, a handful of mervs took the win. Its not how many you have, its how well you use them. Oh and thanks Rare for putting the Region server back, I thought it was kinda weird not having a flag up on the roof when the event started.

#36300542681 02/10/2009 15:23:50 Re:Mach-Merv-Zion PVP Battles, Government Building rooftop, Feb 9-11

Well done Endo, group effort though!

Grats to Hitmanben for taking down Pace, ambushed is certainly the word. Doing the job while Mechs were fighting against Ghost and his Zion healers which certainly slowed things up for the move to Ookami.

Of course Zionites hindered the Mech effort on Ookami after Ghost was taken down, but who can blame 'em eh?

Zion started off strong with a zerg on the rooftop before the Main characters showed up causing Mech and Merv forces to take and hold the Elevator and Stairwells to the roof. When Pace, Ookami and Ghost did show up, all bets were off.

I'd tell you, but I'd have to kill you... :: Said with a teasing laugh:: Part of the reason is, Segur is quite a distance from the Machine City and the patrols don't always come out this far, though that's getting a bit dodgy since there's been increased activity in a fetal field about two hundred miles from us.

Actually I'm not sure what that was. I checked and it doesn't look like a child region spawned there during the battle, so I guess the intermittent flagging on some people was just the result of the servers being pretty lagged up.

Ya, Zion got accused of it on Recursion, so what was the reason machines didnt get the win on syntax? Skill. Nuff said.

#36300542709 02/10/2009 16:02:18 Re:Mach-Merv-Zion PVP Battles, Government Building rooftop, Feb 9-11

(( That certainly was an exciting evening, even if the ending didn't quite play out as I would have hoped.  To be as utterly dominated as we were at the beginning and then scrape out a larger and larger piece of the roof until we had downed Ghost was exhilerating.  Then to have a push on Ookami while poor Pace was left lost in the shuffle... I couldn't believe it when I did finally find Pace.  Poor girl was surrounded by 7 or 8 attackers in close range (and probably others I didn't see) while I futilely did what I could to save her while reinforcements arrived.. sadly, not much I could do by myself and by the time I got back to the roof after reconning with patcher all loaded, Pace was already down.  I'm not sure if that was part of a Merv plan or not, but it was certainly well played on all sides.

Heh.. you've got someone who doesn't really care much for PvP hoping we get something like that to happen again.. with different results of course. ))

Ummm actually, "The reason Machines didn't get the win" could be attributed directly to the fact that the server farted with Ghost at 10% health, if even that, and Ookami at less than 50%. It should have been over right there because most of the "outnumbered Mervs" were also down at that point in time.

Good fight though. Fun times indeed.

#36300542712 02/10/2009 16:10:57 Re:Mach-Merv-Zion PVP Battles, Government Building rooftop, Feb 9-11

There was no sign of any Skill involved in tonights pvp, Zion started with the Zerg machines fought back with similar numbers and managed to contain the rooftop once Ghost was down and we were working on Ookami we were so obsessed with Taking her down we forgot all about Pace im suprised the 10 mervs managed to kill Pace befored the 30+ machines could kill Ookami.

Anyway props to the Mervs for winning fair and square.

They were working on Pace while we were contending with Ghost and those healing him (great heals btw) and also while we were working on Ookami and contending with her and Zion remnants.

(It was about that time when everyone looked like they had frozen with Ookami in IL in full swing. I could see in system chat that my hacks were hitting or deflecting but thats the only thing that got updated, I didn't even see Ookami's health dropping! I took a run around everyone after Pace had fallen and saw Pace mid fight without an opponant! Dead Zion and Mech's still standing! Lag tastic!)

I aint gonna use any server issues as an excuse, we should have had a contingient (one with a few more people than just Shinryu) aiding Pace, but as Endo said, we really wanted Ookami to go down, Mervs just had a head start on it.

I had a laugh though and I must say I enjoyed my Punt on Ghost immensely, not a lot of damage, but a kick in the nuts is a kick in the nuts!

Sadly this is true on more than just this occasion. I myself am guilty of it as well. Endo also said it well when we were so focused on Ookami we forgot about Pace for the most part ( even though mine and travi's teams were picking off zionites left and right attacking her ). All in all we lost perspective and that's what caused us to lose, well, that and the fact Zion went straight for Pace and not Ookami after Ghost got pwnt.

I've never seen such a comeback in PvP than what the Machines did last night, so good job all

And well done to Endo for taking Ghost down and taking the Zion zerg down in turn before any other team fell, and a massive thanks to Rare for arranging it, i've never had such fun in PvP.

Same here. I swear the only reason Pace was killed first was because no one could find her. After Ghost kicked it, most Mechs were either attacking Ookami or even just standing around. By the time I found Pace and tried to defend her, it was too late.

This is a big victory for the Merovingian's, and for Les Affranchis.

Gratz to all for that battle

PS: This is "Les Affranchis" and not "Les Affranchais"
