A segway? For Squirrels?! ARE YOU MAD, MAN!?
Another attempt to get through to SOE

Heres my version of what happened:
With all due respect to everyone who still plays this game and have been loyal customers and fans for so long... why is this thread stuck at the top? I thought it was more than obvious when MxO went to SOE in the first place that they were just going to wait for it to bleed out and die. Once enough people get bored of it and leave that running the servers isn't profitable anymore they're going to kill it, this game's playerbase is incredibly low for an MMO as it is.
Don't get me wrong, I was in the beta and played from launch to when it went to SOE, but due to bad experiences with SOE and their other games and services I left. I'm back now because I needed a break from CoH and it's one of the only other solid sci-fi/modern day setting MMOs out. It's a great game with a LOT of potential, but that potential is clearly lost and they're not planning on realizing it. Ever.
I mean come on... There are two gun models for each gun type except the pistol. How hard is it to throw out some content updates with new models and character customization additions? They probably don't even have anyone still on the staff to make such things, let alone the time and money to impliment it. I have to assume they were originally planning or atleast hoping to eventually put in melee weapons too.
I'm amazed this game is still going and that they even bothered continuing with updates for as long as they did, and I'm happy for that, but you have to realize continued story updates is pretty much one of the last things they're bothering with here and that's going to be the next thing to die when it's no longer profitable. Your energy is better spent in other areas than shouting at SOE from the depths of a game they stopped listening to a long time ago. If they had the manpower, time and money to keep things going and improve them I'm sure they would.

Mad, yes. Man? Just who do you think you've been talkin' to here?

At this point, the thread has gone completely off topic, and I plan to keep it that way until the mods give us great justice and lock it down. And on that note, would anyone here like some Code Nuts? They're matriculatedly delicious.

No! We have to here Skull's revised story before it gets locked!
and yes I would like some of your nuts
Well, here it is, then. I found it extremely lacking of lulz, mostly because Skull is trying to be funny. He's only funny when he's trying to be serious.
This message brought to you by Code Nuts. CODE NUTS: they have no chance whatsoever of impregnating you, at all, ever, nope.

Agreed.
Normally I wouldn't throw a post like this out but heck I'm feeling the need to voice my opinion a little (I've been on the whiskey)
Ok, put bluntly I'm sick of the way the game is treated. This game never had a great startoff, for anybody that was here that long ago will know that the game was released before it's time resulting in a bunch of bugs never being fixed. However even then the game was somewhat flourishing. Then.... SOE takes over.
From that point on this game has declined. In service, In updates, In interaction. The game is boiling down to a grindfest which takes me back to my original point. I'm sick of it.
Now I'm making no demands and I realize that this probably won't get read by anybody other than the people directly responsible for looking after MxO but I just want to point out a few things which not only relates to me but probably everybody else.
We're in recession, people are loosing their jobs and generally people don't want to be spending their money. I've been playing the game now for around 44 months, means I've spent around £450 on MxO and that goes up by just over £10 per month as well. Now there are also quite a few new MMO's coming out this year, Personally I'm looking forward to the release of StarGate Worlds and Star Trek Online. The point I'm making is that people are probably not going to be willing to pay for more than 1-2 games. It's going to be "which one is more enjoyable" and if a game is getting better updates with more player interaction then personally I'm jumping ship.
Now just one last thing..... Where did I put my remote control? (Wanders off)

One but of inadvertant Skull lulz was back a couple years ago when I leveled an alt on Recursion, Skull had a Hi-Lareyous bio we used to click on for lulz. I forgot the wording but it was this weird rant about he was going to personally arrest and kill the Merv for terrorism or some such nonsense. It was brilliant in its sloppy incoherence!

Ah, that's right. I forgot; you're nuts!
I can't think of one game that's worse off than MxO right now, Denary. Most people have there reasons for staying outside of the gaming aspect, most notably the community.

Incorrect on both counts.
No really, I'm really pissed off atm, so I'm just gonna write this "For Teh SkITTleS!!!!!!!!!!!!"
And yea I remember that bio about ol mervy, but I've since then realized that he is important, he herds all the exiles together with worthless missions so we mechs can go in and kill alot more then if they were scattered.
But on topic, I'm still waiting, what's it gonna be SOE?! The kitty or more live events?! It's your choice!
I have to ask... What's the deal with the line in your sig?
The line in my sig huh? I'll tell ya.
About two years ago I was sitting in a dark room, meditating, lost in deep thought. I was thinking of something, something so random, yet so easily explained that people just as you have done, would ask me, why?
"Teh Day before Yesterday is today." is what I came up with, just reading it you jump to the conclusion that it's not logical to say such things, the day before yesterday is is two days ago, not today. But if you throw logic out the window and think about how such a thing could be possible, I point you to the point in time that the matrix is set in, 1999. It's 1999 every year in the matrix, however, a day in the matrix will never feel to the blue pills like yesterday, the machines though of this, so they back track two days in advance in order to keep a cycle going. The only way teh day before yesterday is today could be possible is if you think of two days ago right now in the present, this will not make it a true fact but the thoughts are always there, if that made any sense at all gimmie a hallaluya! lmao

Not really a better segway, but definitely a better way to use segways.

Personally, I prefer to burn some rubber.
Granted it's only Thursday, but after hearing this rant from a number of individuals, including my own faction members, for the entirety of this week, I can now honestly say that I'm tired of hearing it. So let me make something clear: SOE does not own the rights to MxO, therefore it isn't up to SOE to put the game on Steam. It's up to Warner Bros.
It isn't up to SOE to advertise this game, as it's not theirs, and they can get in trouble for it, without the permission of the propertyright owners. SOE's job is to keep the game running, attempt to provide new content, and try to make money off of the game. Regardless of how they're doing with the latter, the fact remains that if MxO did belong solely to SOE, it would have been put on Steam. If you'll look, you'll notice that SWG isn't on there either, as it belongs to Lucasarts.
I fully understand the community having concerns with this, but starting an umpteen-page forum rant, where every Bobby, Tommy and Marco gets to put their two cents in, and add their two cents to everyone else's two cents, very rarely generates the results you desire.
*points at Warner Bros.*
Instead, direct your concerns to them. They can actually do something about it.

My question would be what efforts is SOE making to get permission from WB. If SOE's role with this game is to try and make money with MXO, how does advertising not fit in to picture? I've always been curious about this.

A better question would be how such efforts from SOE are handled and/or replied to by WB.
