Another attempt to get through to SOE

I'm going to try to do something I haven't for awhile, I'm going to try through this thread to get through to SOE, others can help me if they like but my words will more or less have the most impact in this thread.

I've come to the conclusion that MxO is indeed being killed off, Rarebit's new approch is the cause. I'm not saying rare is to blame for this, I'm simply saying that I think this new approch of his is alittle off. As I have stated in another thread, I feel like MxO, which has been my 1 and only online game for 2 years is losing my intrest. I mean, really, why did you kill off live events in a game where they mean so much to the community?! I mean it was something to look forward to, and while we waited for one to happen, we pvped, rped, dueled or just stood around, oh and farming lol don't forget farming. I mean I cannot understand why SOE wants this game dead, it's a great game, and it's still got a story to unfold, mind you, lately, the story has been garbage, no offense to whomever is writing it, but it's not very fun. I remember back in the day when we would wait around for random things to happen, new threats to the simulation to come out and just attack people, I remember when the live events were so awsome you could bearly hold yourself back when they were over.

Now adays however, you give us content with a story that doesn't even back up the content. You give us a game where there is 1% interaction with the community and 99% npc related farming. Imho this is not what you should be doing to this game, you are treating mxo, just like you always have, as a second hand game and now you treat it as it's not even worth selling this game for 10 bucks! I'm sorry, just alittle frustraited. I remember when this game had a certain element to it, a certain vibe, that no other game could even come close to, but lately that vibe has nearly gone completely, and I myself am so close to hitting the unsubscribe button... I don't want to do this, but unless something is done, unless at least something intresting happends inside of the matrix, I will have to.

If you really, really cannot do live events anymore, for whatever reason, be it because you have other work to do, then why not let the players do their own live events, with the story charactors?

Devs, I'm giving you a chance to help this game, do something for it, I understand everything needs to be approved cause it is your job but might I suggest looking to the community to hold dev powers from now on, Give veteran players that know the story, that know how to rp good, give them the LE charactors and let us make our own story. Give these players the ability to run live events and make npcs outa thin air, I mean what could go wrong? Most of us here love this game, and we don't want to see it die, so why not let us help? We play this game for the interaction, not for the bs content that isn't even helpful in pvp. We play this for the real story the unfolding of the Matrix story, not some (no offense) halfa$$ed writen story that someone just wrote down once and didn't even really think it through.

Give these chosen players the ability to reward the community through there own live events. Most of us, even myself when I'm not working would be willing to do this for this game. We would be willing to help this game and you wont give us the oppertunity.

Think this through SOE, it could help this game in the long run, making players that love the game into devs that pay you to do the job you wont pay others to do seems like a pretty good offer. And unless I see some kinda response to my offer, some kinda, "we will think about it and get back to you" kinda comment, I will leave this game. And I'm sorry but this isn't really even alittle fun anymore, it's a waste of time unless something is done, it's a waste of my time to just farm random content and watch a story that isn't even remotely intresting unfold...

I, YOUR VALUED CUSTOMER, DEMAND YOU TAKE THESE WORDS TO HEART! Because if you don't, if you just ignore me like you have been doing for 3 years!!!! I will take my hard earned money elsewhere! And no, not to any SOE games, you don't value us as customers, you value us as suckers and I'm sick of it, give us what we want, a game where we are the people and we have some pull in where this game goes, otherwise, it wont just be me leaving, you wont have anyone playing this worthless shell you have left us to walk aimlessly in...

And I am through. 

Despite that Skull's post is made up 99% of proof that he's about five times slower than the rest of the community, I do agree with one point. This new style of dev work seems like Rarebit's slowly phasing himself out, to the point where if he's replaced with a low-paid intern, none of us might really notice.

And technically, the game's been dead since the introduction of Mister Shiny No-skin.

   So ... a game developer wants to spend more time developing a game instead of doing something that pretty much only utilizes the game's chat and battle features, and suddenly it's a conspiracy.

It's not a conspiracy, but the game chat and battle featurs of MxO is what made MxO MxO.

All we would need is one event (per org) each update period.  This, along with the new format, and we're back in business.

Good luck with the thread, Many try and fail to get any kind of response or help with these types of threads.

I do not normally get involved in these types of threads due to me thinking it is a waste of time....

But anyhow, I do agree that somekind of live event is needed even if it is just once a month or something.

There are a couple of Live events teams out there made by players who are struggling to get themselves going.

I personally am involved with GCET which is developing now, Why not let these groups have some kind of consumable to let off npc's or just somekind of mask for the events so they can be the character for their storyline.

Or even a donation of a prize for the event, minimum effort big returns.

SOE I personally can handle no events to a point but the refusal to help the small groups out there trying to salvage what is left of the shattered storyline of MxO, I cannot condone that.

It's simple, the reason why MxO owned so much for going on 3 and a half years now was because the story, unlike in other games, had someone telling it, now we have NPCs and content that doesn't matter telling a half baked story about what? Overrides? Some random colorful people that seem to be all mighty??? These people aren't even really a story!!!! The story of the Matrix should be epic! Not half baked!!! ffs people come up with an original story for this game, one that will excite people, not drive them away!!! You need real people playing these people, NPCs are bs imho, and you can raise their lvls all you want, you can make them ubber and even able to call for backup like these new nubs, but the fact of the matter is, that no matter what you do, nothing will compaire to the awsome events we've had, where you could rp with someone that accutually matters in the story! At this point I'm just going to jack-in and let the people who really care about the game (i.e Rare and team) do what they can with what they have. You... really think someone in the higher echilons of SOE looks at DN1?  You think someone checks in on us to see if we have any complaints?  That we need a refill on our drink, our pillows fluffed, maybe a different magazine to look over?

Emailing the heads of SOE would probably have a better chance at them actually seeing your complaints and concerns, which doesn't mean they will give it the time of day.

Skull, no offense, dude, but or else what?

You are making these "demands" as if you hold some sort of stock in the outcome.  If you really want your message to be heard and understood, I'd first start at not using acronyms like ffs imho and the like.  Honestly, if your demands are "fix it or else I quit," I fail to see how that will motivate anyone to do anything.  Afterall, if you do quit, that's just one less whiny voice on the forums complaining that SoE has ruined this game.

I think that most people have come to agree that the New Approach leaves quite a bit of wanting.  For the most part, I've kept my trap shut on these changes, because I knew the initial drop wouldn't not end up being the finished product.  You've got to admit that as far as the mindless farming goes, it's a little better / more interesting in the 12.1 missions than it was in the 11.3 wash rinse repeat craziness.  That being said, there's still a huge hole left in the wall from the New Approach blowing through it.  We're close...  pretty *darn* close, and with a little more time and attention, I think we could be in a pretty good spot.

Regardless, there's got to be another way to do this other than pleading and demanding on a forum that someone with the power in SoE to read and implement changes will never see.

So SOE is a nightclub and Skull is yelling at the bouncer "You better not kick me out or else I'll never come back! You just lost yourself a customer pal."

What we're trying to say is: we don't have your back, Skull.

Condemning him for 'doing it wrong' is, again, the wrong way to go about it.

Cloudwol(f) is right, the most that can be done is to let things take its course whilst enjoying what you can of the game, and offer objective, honest and blunt (if necessary) critique on the forums. That's what I'd envision as the right way to go about it. Demanding that SOE listen to the idea that veteran players should take on the roles of characters from the Matrix Franchise (an insanely lucrative and popular Intellectual Property with millions of fans hanging on its words) is not. I know if I got control of Morpheus, without any kind of contractual agreement, then my subservience could only last so long. Even rogue LESIG have compromised the integrity of the story in the past. But anyway, I'm beginning to ramble. To be honest, I'm not even sure I was making any sense from the very beginning, but nevermind.

As for me? Well, I'm just going to continue abusing the bold and italic functions of the forum until I drop dead.

I agree. I say again I don't normally condone the use of these threads but thats what a forum is for to discuss and this thread has opened a discussion so what the hell lol dont aim it at rarebit or the dev/devs lol Just keep it open discuss and share ideas.

To be honest I miss events but I dont miss a squeezed dry storyline.

I wrote this thread to express my opinion and tell the people that run this empty shell that if something isn't done, simply put, I will be unsubscribing. Nuff said on that little out burst that I've come to love and hate from all the haters out there in the internet.

You people don't seem to get it, I'm not trying to get the attention of the devs, I know full well that nothing will be done because just as I have stated before no one at soe cares about the customers, no one cares about us gamers, us people that believe this is more then just a game, it's the story being continued by the people that loved the movies!!! And in my opinion, you cannot tell a story with static content that doesn't even relate to the movies, the story or hell even any real relavance to the matrix at all.

I've been holding my frustration about this game dying back for so long now, but I'm to the point to where it's pointless, I can no longer stop myself from complaining about something I love and hate to see go. I love this game, and I love alot of the people in it, I love how much effort Rarebit has put into this game and how much all the devs have tried their best to solve the problems that cannot be solved by soe. The problem is not the game, it's been the story, people lose intrest in the story because it's no longer intresting, it's no longer even Matrix theme anymore, it's some alien bs that makes no sense and is told by a 5 minute bunch of pictures that really don't even tell much, followed by a lame little 3 part mission that again makes no sense, tells no story and has nothing to do with the matrix story. Then we have the so called content that isn't even useful to a pvper like myself, it's so out of this world difficult to gain that only through alot of mindless farming will one ever see something that no one really needs other then to look good. Sorry, but looking good doesn't matter to me, I rather run around with no shirt on pwnin noobs left and right with gear that actually matters to a real pvper.

2. This is a personal opinion, not a fact. I actually like where the story is going, and I am willing to bet others do to.

3. I also PvP 80-90% of the time I play, and I have found uses for a good amount of the 11.3-12.1 gear.

You stated many times that you're here to express your opinion. Your opinion seems to be that we, as players, need to demand that SOE fix this game (or is it? see 1). Well, if you truly believe that SOE is willing to even consider doing something, I suggest properly contacting them, because they most likely don't look at these forums. Acta Non Verba.

Everyone who believes that the Matrix story "isn't Matrix-y" anymore please go to the Next Renaissance Forum and write out for us this amazing More Matrix-y story that you believe should exist. By all means, use that special Red phone you have that allows you to consult with the Wachowski brothers. I'm sure they've given you exclusive access to what the story should be, and its just a matter of fate that you are a lowly player. (and quite frankly the story has EVERYTHING to do with the Matrix. Turn off the Red flag, put down yer Crank pipe, and go read up and contemplate. Skull's got some good points here.  I don't agree with him 100%, but goodness knows I have my own issues with the game and the way it's being handled by SOE and by others.

In any case, I think everyone has made their point.  Let's just let this thread die, please?

I'm just tired of this game, if you all love the way the story is going then so be it, but they made the machine org look like a bunch of pansies and you know something, I will not stand for it, I mean pace pointed her gun at that w,e teh hell it is and then just backed away slowly? ummmm no. Machines are gods in this place and yet they run like little bishes scared someone is going to pull the plug wut?

The story I could write out 100% better then it's going atm, but I'd have to rewrite the whole 4 past chapters just to make any sense of it. idk, ya lost me at the wireframe guy acting like neo.

I demand more machine infulence in the matrix like there always has been, and we are at war, why does the story not ever reflect this? WHY?! I demand more killing of helpless zionites in their caves kthxbai.

Oh and 1 more thing, just make me into the new 1 so I can have dev powers and fly around teh matrix peeing on people I see below with my code vision... Umm, yea... No more, I demand u give into my commands or I will have to go find my kitty and hold it as a hostage! No cat nipp kitty! NO! /kickstehkittyintothefireplace. Ok so that wont work since soe hates kitties but, I still demand something be done, I just want my live events back pls!!!! This new content sucks imo.

I want to see this. Skull, your challenge has been issued. Rewrite the chapters of MxO from the introduction of Halborn to now, and if it's better, we will hoist you onto our shoulders (not mine, what are you, nuts, I'm a squirrel for grief's sake) and declare you our champion.

I guarentee that it will be a thousand times more effective than making whining posts.

Can't see it hapening though. Also I'm sure Skull's rewrite will be comedy gold no doubt it turning out that Skull is actually teh 0ne!!1!1!! and thus only fair that he be boosted to lvl 255 with Dev commands which allows him to 'pwn noobs' without a shirt on all day long.. Which is what the Matrix story is all about, isn't it?

no offence to ayone that posted in this thread (both for, against, or "for the lulz" (still cracks me up ) ), but it's now...

First off, I'm glad I am making you all "LoLz" including you Rarebit, and to rare, no this isn't a petition it's a random rant on how much I think the story is going into the wrong direction. As for me rewriting the last 4 chapters of this game... I don't see why not. I mean I am a busy man but otherwise I could come up with some free time and write out a couple stories that could have been better then this. And by all means people, do you really think this is serious?! Once again I've been merely ranting about stuff just for teh lulz. Cause that's who I am and always will be, teh true comedy of MxO!!!
