@cine:

Felt this one's pacing was a little slow. At least for the action scene. A happy medium between 11.3's hyperactive storytelling and 12.1's slow trudging horse would be ideal imo.

As for story content, pretty cool, nothing too super progressing or unexpected but we'll have to see where 12.1's missions take things.

Curious. Visitors? A delegation of Oligarchs perhaps, come to retrieve the BIP as the Machines are having trouble grabbing it themselves. But the people who appeared didn't look like wireframes to me, so either they're not Oligarchs or they've deigned to appear with proper RSIs.

Whatever the case, the Architect is nervous.

Notice how Wright wasn't wireframey either. Think it's probably just a little too hard to draw.

I can agree with that. Though the waiting did make for tension.

My guess is that Dues Ex is using Trinity's body to broadcast, if that even makes sense.

You're quite right. I had to go back and watch 11.3 again as I couldn't remember what she looked like. They're almost certainly Oligarchs, then; the glow would imply that anyway.

Not entirely sure I agree with that...  but I can understand why you'd think it.

Hmm... on the visitor side, many have seen some of the Dev screenshots of the silvery laying on the floor. Doesn't rule out that the Oligarchs have updated their software to be more compatible with the Matrix. Also doesn't rule out that these are completely different people all together.

Its a shame we dont have Live events anymore... this would actually be interesting :/

#36300530177 12/18/2008 05:21:56 Re:Cinematic 12.1 (may contain spoilers)

Very intriguing despite being a bit expected.

"Trinity..."

Again, like all of them I think, I've begun to appreciate this Cine the more I watch it. Odd how they always do that.

Yeah,  I was kinda worried I'd see... "The Matrix Online is over" pop up on the screen after the monitors went off..

Agreed.

There was definitely a sense of "doom and gloom" with this one.  If only there was music...

Architect:  Oh my god...we're about to seriously get PWNed.

I liked the Cinematic, though it would have been great to see this made with voice acting.

Who was that woman at the end just before Ghost said "Trinity...". Veil?

I thought Ookami had short hair?

Ok, now I see.

Also, would it help to say that I had a dream involving her last night and I didn't know who it was until I saw her screenshot just now?

These desperately need music, not voice overs just some music.

We have been, or at least I have. Check the log of the recent Machinist meeting with Gray. I said outright he was telling us porkies - twice at least, I'm sure - but he ignored it.

Alas, my erratic drawing style and animated presentation has created confusion. Plus I just don't seem to be able to draw that particular character's head correctly from a low angle. But aside from the context (scene that just happened previously featuring a certain character, area in distance that looks similar to same area in which character was seen arriving at the beginning), there are a few shreds of physical evidence, which we can freeze and highlight thanks to the magic of Photoshop:

The *other* person it was suggested this is actually does appear somewhere in the cinematic. That one's a little harder to spot. ;)

Here?

#36300530517 12/18/2008 14:22 Re:Cinematic 12.1 (may contain spoilers)

Heeheehee dang, someone got it already. =P

EDIT: Oh, although seeing it just reminded me that there's a question of who it is exactly, since there are two people who look like that, but only one who uses /mood regal. :o

No need to apologise Rare, your drawing style is fine and a few scenes that are open to debate won't do anyone any harm. I speak for myself but I think questions like these arise more out of fan obsession with being sure of the story than over debate over art style. I usually have a ton of things I want to clear up after cinematics, it's not 'cause I don't like them it's because I'm fascinated by the story in them and want to know every detail.

I personally feel honoured to play a game where a dev will go to the effort of personally drawing and animating cinematics to enhance the story for the players and I'm sure I'm not the only one - keep up the good work Rare, we love it!

Now is that enough sucking up for say...an Oracle Cookie?

I simply loved it. To get some music, I just put Rob Dougan's "Chateau" from The Matrix Reloaded on WinAmp, and I found it was a pretty good soundtrack.
