I've read about this error around, and i see that should be just a problem when updating the game. The facts are two:

1 actually i don't read about any server update, just a forum update for today

2 It's lasting since 3 hours and more

So i ask here: is there a server update atm? servers are down for all the community or is that a problem just for me?

#36300512982 10/22/2008 12:01:46 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version
I believe everyone is getting it.
#36300512985 10/22/2008 12:08:14 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

No problems at this end, popped in and out myself just now in fact!

#36300512992 10/22/2008 12:15:08 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

I also have been getting this message and was told by live chat that it shouldn't last for more than 15-30 minutes and it's been over 4 hours.  Does anyone have any real information concerning if this is happening to everyone or how to correct this problem?

#36300512993 10/22/2008 12:33:32 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

i got the same problem and tryied to pathc and bla bla bla for like 2 hours and still not working so i reinstalled the game and it worked once untill i logged out and then it updated and now same problem...

when i go to the luncher in the mxo folder and go tru there it says that its corrupted files and want me to do a virus scan...

#36300513002 10/22/2008 13:08:10 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

At least i see i'm not the only one experiencing this, even if earing about viruses and of peaple who is loggin in without any problem makes me a bit worried. I hope SOE will set it up soon.

#36300513004 10/22/2008 13:12:19 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

I also can't log in. The launcher supposedly updated the game and now it says I have the wrong version.

#36300513009 10/22/2008 13:16:39 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

This sounds like an issue that occurs when trying to log in on Thursday when the servers get their weekly maintenance, it usually clears up when the severs (The three world servers plus the authentication server) get turned back on or made accessible. Can't understand why it's happening now. Again I try to log in and I've not experienced any issues. /shrug

#36300513011 10/22/2008 13:18:47 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

I have the same error.

I am going to update my browsers to see if that does something.  After that, guess I will read a book.  /shrug

#36300513023 10/22/2008 13:29:48 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

The support button leads to a failed operation so hopefully SOE realizes there is a big problem for some people.

#36300513026 10/22/2008 13:38:04 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

#36300513030 10/22/2008 13:43:21 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

Maybe its a vista problem?

#36300513034 10/22/2008 13:52:11 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

I do not have vista but xp, but maybe that's a single server problem? I see Vinia is of syntax server, i'm on vector, maybe that's just for vector users. Donno...

#36300513054 10/22/2008 14:16 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

It looks like to me a station launcher problem. Try going into your Matrix Online directory, which would be C:\Program Files\Sony\The Matrix Online\ and try to open launcher.exe and try logging in that way.

Done that a few times mate...

still no luck

#36300513063 10/22/2008 14:18 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

The only thing I could think of that would be causing the problem is that the client version was changed on Station Launcher to the client version of tomorrow's patch, and since we don't have the patch yet, it is saying incompatible client version.

#36300513068 10/22/2008 14:21 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

You are able to open the game without going through station launcher by loading the launcher.exe file in your game's directory. Since the shortcut that station launcher provides opens station launcher and then routes you to MXO.

#36300513089 10/22/2008 14:38:26 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version
No that's perfect!!

One more thing. If you are running this as a Vista user, you may have to access the launcher.exe by right clicking on it and running it as 'administrator'

Patching from the Matrix launcher in the directory worked for me.  One thing interesting Rarebit that I hadn't noticed is when using the launchpad you always enter the game at the last phone booth you used. You never enter into the loading area even if that is where you logged off.

I had the same issue when the station launcher first came out, reported it but looks like nothing has been done or possible nothing can be done about it...

IF YOR HAVING PROBLEMS and getting message "Imcompatiable Client Version"

1.  Try clicking start at the bottom left of your screen.

2.  Open your control panel

3.  Find and click search

4.  Search for launcher.exe

5.  Once search is complete you should see Launcher.exe with the matrix game symbol

6.  Click it and open, then run it therefore bypassing stationlaucher all together.  Seems to be working for me but alot of updates but looks to me it working.   See you all in the matrix!

#36300513105 10/22/2008 15:00:09 Re:Autenticating...failure. Incompatible clien version

YEP THAT WORKED perfectly, so follow my easy steps and you'll be fine.  I'm logged on in the game as I typed this.  See you in the matrix.

EDIT:

Looks like the Station Launcher patch files have been set back to the correct version, so running through Station Launcher now should work okay.

Thanks, VIPAM. Here's my own slightly wordier version, which should cover all cases for people who logged in today with Station Launcher and then encountered these authentication issues:

1) Run the game by double-clicking the "launcher.exe" file in the directory where you installed the Matrix Online.

2) Click the "Full System Check" switch under the launcher's main display panel where the EULA is displayed.

3) Click "ACCEPT." This will patch your launcher.exe back to the correct version (7.5658).

4) Once patching has finished, click "RESTART," or wait a few seconds and the launcher will do it for you.

5) On the restarted launcher's EULA window, click "ACCEPT." This will take you to the launcher's Account Login window.

6) In the login window, click the "Full System Check" switch under the main display panel again.

5) Enter your game username and password in the main display panel above the switch.

6) Click the "ACCEPT" button. This will patch your client back to the correct version (7.5658).

7) Once patching has finished, click "CONTINUE" to go to the character select screen. You should now be able to pick a character and get into the game world.
