I contacted Virrago about raising a petition to get this forum sorted.  He advised me that it would probably get locked.
So i took the mans advice and created a discussion thread about it.
Lets get our voices heard.

That's great that you're giving them feedback that you don't think they're doing a great enough job on their forums. Hey, that's a good idea, feedback is always useful.

I think when these forums were first introduced, it was said SOE was trying a new version of their forums, and were trying to work out the kinks in it. The questions you posted in that thread look very rhetorical, no one's going to be just like "lol I like posting in forums that give me problems, it's challenging and fun! ^________^".

Yeah, they should fix the forums so they give us 0 problems. But I don't see how posting that is going to make them fix it any faster.

But, who knows?

Stryke,
i am well aware of the workaround.  I work in IT and am pretty good with figuring these things out.  That is completely beside the point.  We as customers should not have to figure these things out.
This post is designed to get this community to pull together to make sure SOE hear loud and clear about our thoughts on the matter.  Even if you disagree with me.. go to the post and join in.  MXO must unite!

I like how the thread went from fix the fourms to all about the game.

I've never, ever really had a problem with them. As in bug wise, sometimes they like to do the slow-load thing.
But they normally fix that pretty fast.

Well being a complete novice to how a computer works.. i was able to ascertain that when content on a page changes if a client PC doesnt try and refresh it, there will be issues..  How can Sony be responsible for teaching us how to use internet explorer, firefox or safari?  I mean I think I understand where you are going with your main post, but to be honest, your message is being lost in the mud you are throwing.

I am not trying to flame you or anything like that, but my advice to you is to not bite the hand that feeds you.  The forums are not broken.  They may be buggy, or have some issues, but not broken.

They will not " sort " any of that out when the solution to most problems is cached information on the local client, or latency.

I think the problem is, that just by saying "the forums are broken", you aren't really giving the casual viewer much to go on. I can see where things aren't working just right, but then I'm a web developer, so I know both what to look for, and the workaround.

Others wont, and will think that you're just spouting off.

The forums aren't broken, as you can post, and read posts. And that is what many people consider a working forum to do. The fact that it doesn't quite handle page numbers correctly isn't something that most people would notice, nor care about.

To get a community to 'unite', you need to give them more than just a loose starting point. And trust me, if someone told me to 'fix the forums', i'd ignore it too. The web team more than likely have a full schedule, and would appreciate more refined points. It's like taking your car to a very busy mechanic, and saying "it's broken, fix it".

HA!
"You may NOT:
Use the official forums as a staging ground for creating general unrest within the game or forums, such as sit-ins, polls, petitions, etc. "

[correction]
"You may ONLY:
Be mindless drones and continue to pay a monthly subscription.  You may continue to be presented with a faltering forum for use in the game/s you are paying for.  You may only post positive experiences you have had with the game/forums.  You may shut up now!"

On a side note, join my site.  I'm guaranteeing you'll get a better forum experience and be truly able to speak you mind without a strong hand on the shoulder SMILEY

If it turned into anything that remotely looked like a petition then it would be locked.

Yes we do listen and yes I have passed on your displeasure with the forums as well as mine.

This has nothing to do with how SOE feels about MxO as every game we have uses the same forums and they all have the same issues across the board.

While there are still a lot of issues that irritate me just as much as you guys, these forums are a lot better then when they originally launched and continue to improve. Although not as fast as any of us would like them to, but we are working to continually improve upon them.

Locking this thread now.
