It's just around the corner, so what's everyone's thoughts on this years race to the Super Bowl?

I'll do what I do every year, bid for the Bengals Bungles to actually win games.

I think it'll be a good season this year, as a lot of teams had roster revamps. I see the Eagles, Chargers and Browns all making a run for the playoffs this year. Patriots of course, but I don't know if the Giants would be able to repeat last year's run. The Cowboys should be solid this year, as should the Jags.

So, thoughts?

I'm a Raiders fan.  Unfortunately, I think we will still suck this year.  Al Davis is the cryptkeeper.
#36300484757 08/03/2008 00:22:19 Re:NFL 2008-2009 discussion
I think the key to the Browns is selling Brady Quinn for some talent to surround Derek Anderson with he's a great potential quarter back but I feel like we could benifit more by trading him.

That's like Carson Palmer in Cincinnati. If they'd just get rid of the troublemakers and surround him with talent, the Bengals wouldn't be that bad a team. The defense is what's killed them the past couple years though, and hopefully some of the draft picks will round out that D some.

Palmer's one of the best quarterbacks in the league in my opinion and he is just wasted at Cincinnati until they get him some talent to surround him at the other positons.

as a jets fan i think they will be better they need to start  pennington or i still hope it can happen is Get Farve but if pennington is healthy i think we can compete with the patriots this year i think they lost a few key playes and i  think they will have that hangover of almost being perfect andi think thats gonna hang over but i see the jets alteast making a wildcard spot this year.

oh and by the way is any one getting madden 09 for ps3 im thinking of making a  Casual MXO Fantasy leauge  and i would wonder if any one would wanna try it

Dont rule them out just yet. They picked up a couple good recievers and a Good CB. If Russell can indeed throw the ball like hes said to. With McFadden adding to the threat. They might just do good.

The jets might be a sleeper. Pennington has potential. He had a bad ankle last year and QB's need ankles to move in the pocket and get set well.

They revamped there OL with some good veterans.  Drafted a good TE that has plenty of upside.

#36300485441 08/05/2008 08:01:31 Re:NFL 2008-2009 discussion

AS my pick for the SuperBowl.

Minnesota Vikings   vs   San Diego Chargers

Those are my picks.

I dont think the Pats will take it all. People saw they could be beat. Last year people had themselves beat before they even played them last year.

No more then that idiot for the eagles. Hes lucky the defenders didnt pick it up and run it back for  TD. IMHO biggest *CENSORED* play ever. Hell that even made Romo's CHOKE look good.

It is 2008 in the US of A.  How can a referee say "Oh terribly sorry but the equipment isn't working tee hee - decision on the field stands" when there is a jumbotron 100 feet by 100 feet above his head that can show him it was a bad call in a matter of seconds and it should have been an SD ball in that first quarter - thus no TD for the Broncos.
And..just to keep on the theme of my rant....it sucks big doo doo that a referee can basically decide who wins and who loses a game because of their over eager 'blow whistle" reflex.

Sure, the Chargers defence wasn't super, but man...talk about bad luck.

It's just more proof refs are obsolete. Honestly officiating should be totally automated from a skybox with a team of trained technicians and full camera vision of the field.

Yeah people can argue it takes away from the integrity of the game and honestly I agree it does in alot of respects but truth be told like you said its 2008 its the NFL they need to get with it.

kinda agree with the no refs. THey always in the dam way. Wel maybe 1 or 2. I mean seriously. Lately i have noticed them getting in the way even more often. being tackled down, or in just in the dam way of the reciever or running back. Man i would be annoyed as hell with em.

As for the Ref on the  SD/BRONCOS game. He was down graded. They are all on some kind of grading system. Basically probly wont be in the line up for superbowl or things like that for awhile.

#36300499851 09/17/2008 16:25:00 Re:NFL 2008-2009 discussion

It hasnt just been the Broncos/Chargers game where they were blind and dumb. Many games so far already this season have had some REEALLY bad play calls. I guess the days of the teams playing and winning with actuall skill are done with. Its all on who the refs bet on to win. Seriously some games it has looked tht way. I know dam well the refs can affors eye care so it can be their eyesight.

And on a side note.. The vikings benched Jackson in favor of Frerotte. I dont think its a QB issue but what i said from day one. Childress has to go. Cant expect the qb;s to win when you try to protect them by not letting them be aggressive.

#36300499859 09/17/2008 16:36:56 Re:NFL 2008-2009 discussion
Yea. agreed there with the refs. Not to Ish talk the cowboys. But Dayum there was alot of face mask to westbrook there. About 3 even the announcers pointing em out. But Eagles doing some stuff too that the refs didnt call.

I want to see the Chargers make the superbowl this year. They came so close last year too.

It's cool that Sky Sports have picked up even more coverage over here, I try to catch a game whenever it's on.

Very interesting weekend indeed.

The Dolphins kicking the Patriots all over the field, the Bengals(they looked pretty solid in a loosing effort this week) playing with and staying with the defending Super Bowl champions, Giants. A lot of upsets and a lot of fun games to watch this weekend. I was glued to the TV for most Sunday, watching the football games, hehe.
Dallas and Green Bay was a good game to watch too, and Dallas winning at Lambeau is quite a feat.

I watched the Steelers vs Eagles game - how many sacks? heh

Man, if the Chargers don't win tonight I shall go ask for a refund ;p

The Bears game was truly fantastic, unless you're a Bears fan I'm guessing ;p  When the Chargers lost to the Panthers in the last few seconds, a Bears fan here sent me some nice text messages - those were returned Sunday SMILEY

AFC MVP this is a toss up between i think for me Brett Favre or Kerry  Kollins with Kollins not been playing id say the titans would easly be just over 500 if young was playing and Favre Has basicly lead the Jets to First place in the AFC East and i think He can keep The Jets on top and win the AFC east this year

Coach of the year i think if the Titans go to the playoffs/superbow has to be fisher  listing to the sportstations down here everyone last year from midseason on wanted him gone and now that he's the coach of the top team in the NFL id say he's done a great job of turning this team around from what they were last year.

Rookie of the year could very well be Johnson, hes done awesome but dont forget QB Ryan from atlanta. AS well as Coach Smith from ATL as potentail Coach of the year. Atlanta is actually in the race this year with a rookie coach and Qb.

As far as coach of the year it could be Fisher but Zorn from Washington is right in the thick of it. He has really turned them around.

NFC mvp I think you hit on the head I dont see anyone else standing out. But I do think its funny Eli is outshining his "superstar" brother.

good choices too id also have to put in there Kurt Warner he's done a  pretty good job this year he's had sevral mutliple 200+ yards and 2+ touchdowns games i should know this guy has help win me a few Games with my Fantasy team

I got fubar'd in both my fantasy leagues.  Schaub/Orton are out for who knows how long. If they do come back it will be when fantasy football is wrapping up.   so now I have Quinn/Rosenfals in one and Favre/Flaco inanother.

And i really hate people that hoard players so others cant get them. one guy in my leaguye has 3 qbs 5wrs with the injuries this year that makes it hard to get replacements of quality
