You know what would be awesome...

/loadoutscanner - which also lists current stat dispersion, then we can simply check ourselves and will also stop anyone from trying to find new ways to beat the system (which would then negatve and global reset).

How would the means to quickly check our own stats eradicate the problematic persons, at which this thread is aimed?  How would that, in turn. negate the reset?

If I understand what Aquatium is saying correctly, he is suggesting that /loadoutscanner would scan the load of a targetted person and also list their stat dispersion thus showing if they are over 30 in a particular stat. People can then CCR the person and get the Dev's or CSR's to adjust the stats accordingly.

It's quite a long way round when I'm sure the Dev's or CSR's can simply do a search for any stats that are >30 and act on any person that comes up positive accordingly without fear of triggering any drama on DN1 or in game with the person(s) at the center of attention.

Mind you, if the Dev's were to do a database search with the intent of checking character's stats, I doubt they'd tell us anyway.

Gotcha.

It is the long way round to a simple procedure.  I really don't see why whoever deals with such things can't just do it.  As I've said before, it wouldn't hurt anyone at all to have to reapply their stat's (aside from those at which this is targetted), and at most it would require a line in a MOTD.

Yea, Vinia is right, that's what I mean.

I'm highlighting the line above, on why having such a tool is good for future protection. I'm sure a CSR won't be able to do stat checks every day, so let's take the example that someone finds a way to get over 30, even now, then they could easily stats over 30 for an event, then change back without a CSR ever knowing.

If you have proof someone has stats above 30 then report them to CS.

That's like someone using a third party program in a game to get an unfair advantage and then when you call them out on it, they say, "LOL U GOT PROOF?"

That's pretty ignorant, even for SOE standards in my opinion.

PROs:
  • Everybody gets their stats reset and a free stat-hack (incase they mess it up), saving everybody running 2 stat-hack missions
  • 30+ stat 'sploiters lose their sploit
CONs:
  • The Database (TM) has to be altered (now with lazers)
unless the database edit is a really serious data integrity issue (take a backup and do the change during the next patch down-time) it doesn't seem like a big issue.

I would have thought a simple SELECT statement where any of the stats are >= 31 would list the sploiters... then set all assigned stats to 0 (stst reset on those acounts only) or a global assigned stats reset with an MOTD should suffice. But I'm totally guessing at data structures.
