Well this is month 2..or 3, I forget.  No SOE gamecards.  The Gamestops say they aren't going to be carrying them anymore.

So I drop in at Best Buy *shudders* and low and behold I see handfulls of Pirates of the Burning Sea gamecards....so my question is, since PotBS is a SOE game, do these game card codes work with MxO?

I highly doubt it....

Man I remember watching the commercial for that game  and the graphics look so disgusting.

That games a stinker granted I was in REAL early beta as in we got in right after Betrayal was released. It reminded me of Age of Empires online or something...

SoE gamecards should be universal to all SoE games but I tend to doubt it (I wouldn't go out and test it unless you have official word, don't want to waste money). I don't see why they shouldn't be, even if the cards have a different theme each based on a different SoE game for every batch produced, even that would advertise it's games to a small degree...

Any update? Did it work or was it a waste of money?

First, I lost my brother's password. We both forgot it. So I hit "I forgot my password."

My brother apparently registered his account while using an AOL email. Since then, he hasn't used it since we went high speed, and he went to gmail. So the AOL mail kinda disabled itself....and for all this effort and the money I've dropped, he's being a little......anyway, he hasn't put forth the effort to activate his email, nor does he want to because he thinks reactivating it is silly if he isn't going to use it, so I'll probably be contacting SOE support sometime this upcoming week to either change his email in the system or something....THEN I'll be able to test the game card.

I swear I'm gonna add "boot to the head" for him in my last will and testament for all the things like this....

Just a tiny suggestion, pass up the SOE gamecards all together and just get a relodable visa or mastercard, there are a lot of places that sell them these days, then just put however much you want on it and play away.

I guess I don't really know if there are fees to load/reload one of those, if not it'd work great, if there are then you'd end up paying more than you want to probably.

The fees are stupid here in my town.
All the onces I see are like $4->$10 activation fees, and $3-$5 reloading fees.
SOE needs a Paypal onetime/subscription option.

Nada

It says something to the like of "This activation / prepay card is not valid for this game."

-_-

I remember buying Everquest gamecards and getting them to work on MxO...but if SOE is gonna flood a store like Best Buy with cards, it should be universal imo.

I completely agree with you. It was a longshot, unfortunately didn't pay off...

Costs more usually, and a credit card is usually required, which....kinda defeats the purpose ya know?

From personal experience, some of these prepaids work, some don't.   Reloadables might, like Green Dot (havent tried those yet).  But here in CA at my nearest Rite Aids they sell those Amex gift cards and those Vanilla prepaid Visa/MC's.  The Amexes have issues galore, they don't always activate at the cash register.  If they don't you have to jump through a million hoops to get it up and running, they send you a replacement in the mail but it might take a month.  Horrible.

The Vanilla cards activate fine.  But here's the thing with those.  The name on those cards usually say "A GIFT FOR YOU" or something on the front of the card.  SOE wont let the charge through unless the card is matched exactly with your name and address.  So I called the debit card company to register it under my name so I could make online purchases.  But they only will allow you to register your zip code, nothing else.  So those Vanilla cards wont work with SOE.

The Amex cards will allow you to register your name and addy.  But again, those are sketchy to get activated in the first place.

The good news is that there are a ton of SOE cards at my local Fry's, so I'm doing that for the time being.
