hmmm with the meaning  that this sounds very intresting

Nice mission, it was cool to hear more about Halborn and Carlyne's gear, though I will admit to being a bit miffed. I've been writing a fan fic for NR where all the ships and stuff are upgraded, and basically everything I'd thought of Carlyne mentioned as properties of his ship - grrr! But in all seriousness very cool stuff.

The only disapointment is that we didn't get to see that schematic of the ship, I was really getting my hopes up that we have a "read" document with it on, but never mind - good mish nonetheless. Hmm, wonder where they get all this tech from?

If the theory of a human colony that has been allied with the Machines since the end of the Second Renaissance is correct, then we're dealing with a group of humans that have not only been helped by the Machines, but haven't been wiped out at the end of every Matrix cycle.

I remember there being a little back story written and posted on DN1's old main page when the Cypherites/Masked Men first popped up. There was a part about a Machine captain that had lost his eye, and was given a replacement "mechanical eye" given to him as a gift from the Machines. This kinda gives a hint of Machines creating some pretty sophisticated technology and passing it out to helpful humans, so I can only assume they can create a lot we don't know about.

H'mm, I need a transcript of this mission. If it's going on about high-tech ships, this is relevant to my interests.

Are you referring to the information uncovered in Merovingian missions, I'd kinda thought that maybe Halborn and Carlyne had something to do with that, or is there something else you're referring to?

An interesting mission. Yes I would have liked the mission to have handed out a blueprint too, that part of criticals is really underused. And if the next sub-chapter involves the intruders ships then we've missed a chance to see them in a cinematic. Also an interesting observation in that the appearance of the intruders matches their personal preference of ship. Heavy weight Halborn with the big armoured ship and light weight Carlyne with the small speedy ship.

Does that mean Halborn's ship can only move in a wavy pattern while Carlyne's can only move in straight lines, like their code does? XD

I don't know what was said in the Merovingian missions.  I was referring to the information from Hypatia.

[Team] Paprock: Must've been that goddamn private... He never could stand tail...

Tail?  I figured it would be "tall" or something.

There was a certain line in the mission that I didn't understand:

Zion Martial Arts Initiate: "We've had to take Carlyne's word for a lot of things. He could tell us he and Halborn actually live on the Moon, and how could we be sure if it was true or not?"

Zion Martial Arts Initiate: "...

Personally, I think Io is more likely."

When I first saw "Io," I thought it was a typo, but I couldn't think of anything close to that which would make sense.  I talked to shearman about it, and he didn't know either.  He googled "Lo" (because that's what it looks like ingame), and he discovered that "Lo" stands for "Low Observable," which is another name for ships using stealth technology, and this kind of makes sense in the context of the mission.  I didn't realize that it was actually "Io" until I copied and pasted it here, so now my best guess is that it is a typo, and it's supposed to say "Lo."  Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I could get you a transcript of this mission, but I'm not entirely sure I want to. SMILEY There is something you could do which might change my mind, so send me a tell or a PM if you really want that transcript.

While that is very coincidental I wouldn't read to much into it as "Io" is a name for one of Jupiter's moons.

Ahh, thanks for that - I really need to read General discussion more often!! Hmm, human colonies allied or affiliated with the Machines before the war is more than possible and there were more than a few humans who stuck up for B166ER and his kind so that's feasible.

I can only remember vaguely, but there was some info found in Chapter 8 merv missions I think about the Machines removing people from the simulation for purposes unknown. I'll have to look up reviews to find out more, but I can't remember if anything came of it. Surely one of these two events has something to do with Halborn and Carlyne, maybe they're even linked somehow.

Whatb I find a bit worrying is that there could be a whole bunch of wireframed dudes ready and waiting to cause havoc!

There are a number of possibilities concerning where Halborn and Carlyne are from.  Some people are saying that Halborn's people actually control the Machines; others believe that they're some kind of experimental colony set up by the Machines.  And some are saying that this "colony" made peace with the Machines at the end of the original war, and they've maintained diplomatic relations with them ever since.

Whatever the real truth is, it's bound to be interesting!

I've had another thought about the human colony idea.  Since there technology is so high, surely they have a way of removing the nanomachine clouds covering the planet?  Either they don't have a way of removing the clouds, or they do but they're keeping the planet shrouded.  Maybe because of the Machines?

I have a feeling that the Machines have some form of dependence on the human colony, and removing the clouds would relieve them of this dependence.
#36300446007 04/23/2008 01:32:43 Re:[10.1.3] Zion mission feedback thread: "Unibody"
Thats an interesting theory actually and could tie in quite well with the whole matrix not being a decent power supply idea. Lets say the mountanious colony area has a big circle of light where the colonists have cleared the sky. The machines have an agreement with the humans there to supply them power in exchange for their continued safety and relative uninterfered living.
#36300446011 04/23/2008 01:50:52 Re:[10.1.3] Zion mission feedback thread: "Unibody"
Hmmm... that certainly is an interesting theory, it certainly puts a new skew on the whole Machines winning the war and keeping Humans in chains. The ramifications of this idea being even slightly correct could be enormous for all concerned with the Simulation.
