I will be playing the game for about an hour or so. It runs fine lag isn't too bad unless I go inside a building but I can put up with it because it is minimal. Any who when I am playing, my game will close randomly and throw me back to the desktop. When I log back into the game it says my character is still in use. I wait for a little bit then I can log in again but the game closes once more after so long. I'm not sure what the problem might be, however I have a thought. It's only an 800ghz processor, my game is fine when I play and when it does close I get no system error message what so ever so I am not sure if this is my problem or not.

That happens to me aswell and *CENSORED*!!!!! A freaking 800mhz processor??? Wow. You need to upgrade. Thats like 1980's computer speed. Ok and the character in use bug has always been there. Also i have also been getting that same crash occasionally and its annoying and it doesn't even pop up a error, i dont know if its drivers or what but tell me what type of GPU you have please, thats probably why you lagg indoors. As far as i know there are two GPUs that cause indoor lagg the 8000 series for nvidia and the 2600 hd xt agp visiontek.

ati radeon x 1300, I'm running everything on high detail no prob. I will be changing the processor at some time. Think it might judt be a game error?

He said 800ghz, he is from the future! /kneel

One suggestion I have would be to click that toggle switch on the mxo launcher to have the system do a check of your mxo folders to make sure you have everything in order.

Other than that or reinstalling the game again, I don't know what else to tell you to try.   I had this issue before with another game and there was one hidden file that was causing it.  Once I replaced that file, it fixed it.  So, hopefully doing a system check will fix whatever file might be bugged.

It's still possible your processor can't handle the game.  I think that the min requirements is at least 1.0ghz.

Good luck!

How much RAM your computer has and how much free space on the hard disk
assigned for swapping? This happened to me when I had only 1 GB of RAM and
the HD had a few GB of free space. Running background programs -like my music
player or stream radio- worsened it, specially when I alt-tabbed between applications
as I run the game at full-screen mode.

The switching made the hard disk go on full red, crashing the game to desktop and even
rebooting the computer.

Well I changed a lot today on the comp. I changed my processor so now I'm running on a 1.8 and the game is fine, I also changed my mother board, It might have been the ram I was using maybe to, the mother board I am using now runs sddr and the other was so dimms I believe. I'm having no problems at all as a matter of fact. I also re installed the game just to make sure. As for those who have this problem I don't know what to say. I'm glad the game is running fine now and hope it continues.

Do you mean DDRSDRAM? and about the "so dimms"(Doesnt that mean Small Outline?) your runing a laptop?

I'm having this problem too, and upgrades are not the issue. SMILEY

I'm experiencing it with a Vista machine that is not only very powerful, I'm advanced enough to know which services I should/shouldn't disable for gaming.  Everything runs beautifully on the machine except MxO:  sometimes I can get MxO to run for an hour or two before I'm staring at my wallpaper, sometimes it's CTD'ing every 5 minutes. SMILEY  I'll run it out-of-the-box or lean and mean, and it doesn't seem to make a difference.  Nor can I find any Events--when MXO crashes, nothing is logged.

I'm having the same issue. Where did this error report thing go that creates a dump file?

Sounds like it may be a Vista issue:

Well I can ssure you it's not a vista problem because I myself was not running vista. I think it might actually be the game or something because I re downloaded the entire thing and it ran fine. How did you get youe launcher for MxO?

It's starting to sound more and more like damaged game files.

You know, the means of delivery just might be it, too.  I've done a full system check, but I'll try it again, just to see if it runs the same way twice. :-/

But you could install MXO 3 ways, and at least two of them use different folder paths, if not all three:

  • You can use the retail box CDs
  • You can download the installer
  • You can use the Station Launcher (beta) product to install <--which is what I did.

I've used the launcher on other machines without problems (one should note that in Vista you MUST run the Launcher as Administrator, every time).

When I get time, I'll try an uninstall, reinstall from my ol' CD-ROMs, and see if that makes a difference.

Generally speaking, the Station Launcher causes more problems than anything else, as there is a lot of issues with the files it generates and the running of the game... I'd say play around with the settings of that before going nuts with a full install. Try doing a delete of the Station Launcher files and making it do a full install from there.

If you still have the same problem, it might be with the version of Station Launcher that actually installed on your PC. Oddly enough, there are errors in the Launchers install files for itself, so often a re-install of that solves game issues...

oh the joys of a beta product SMILEY

Yeah WinterMute I would suggest you use the normal installer or the retail discs the only thing I hear floating around is the 8800's have caused some problems in the past with MxO

and
Freezill I think you need to repost your specs so every body can help you.

UnknownShadow, that's a great suggestion and I'll give it a try.

I managed to go for over an hour tonight without a crash, but I also stopped a ridiculous number of services and background programs to do it.  I'll try forcing a re-install from the launcher and see how that goes.

For the record, the Station Launcher is otherwise a pretty good product!  I've been pleased with how easily it works, and it doesn't give me a problem in the world with other SOE games, or with other non-Vista machines. SMILEY
