I can log onto the launcher without any problems...

But when i select my character, then try to jack in, either nothing happens, or the launcher vanishes and then it returns to my desktop. My drivers are all up to date, directX is fine...only thing ive changed is laptops, this one has Vista.

Any ideas?

My launncher has been crashign alot recently.  After I select char the launcher shuts down.  I try it a few times more with the same result then all of a sudden it starts working again.

It sounds like it might be a corrupt file or something. I would try doing "Full System Scan" and see what happens after thats. Also:

Well right now i am out of ideas and i am also contacting Phi to see if he can help but when it just crashes like that is there any errors? Here is how to find out...

In MxO directory there will be a file(s) called ClientErrors_0 and as many as the errors you get the, higher the number gets.

But if you find those in you directory after the time outs or crashes please post it. It might help. But remember i am not a professional. SMILEY

#36300418768 03/03/2008 14:18:05 Re:Game just doesn't launch.
I have launch and client errors
The launch errors are blank....... the client errors say "opening log file"

I have DMP files but have no idea what to open them with.

#36300418770 03/03/2008 14:19:00 Re:Game just doesn't launch.
There are no errors in my directory...i think a full re-install might be required.

Thanks for the help, if anyone can point out how to solve it that would be great.

LOL. Ummm Hmmm just wait a little longer before you try to reinstall, try this if you full system scan works:

NVM i got nothing lol.

But wait for Phi to respond if he doesn't have an answer then you might need to reinstall.

#36300418812 03/03/2008 15:26:51 Re:Game just doesn't launch.
Mashoe.  Your laptop's video drivers are most likely the cause. You have intel chipset onboard graphics with BARELY enough power to run Vista. I'd say you barely meet minimum specs to run MxO. If you can, switch back to the other laptop. You might be ok on XP but with Vista's 3D resource requirements you may be maxxing out the graphics. You could try turning off the Aero desktop style and going with the Windows 2000 look but it probably won't help.

Also Full System Scan is a 2 stage process, did you follow the procedure listed here? : Running Full System Check

Yeah i wouldn't think most laptops would be good be good for vista.

Hmmm, ok.

I just ran Half life 2 on maximum graphics, it seemed to work smoothly. Putting it back to 2000 didnt work either, i think it might be the way i installed it thats making this happen. I copied a few files and settings from my old laptops MXO folder to this one...i reckon thats just confusing it and making my computer say no.

Can you be specific about what you copied over from your other machine... if possible I'd recommend re-copying the entire MxO folder to your new laptop, then re-patch.
There may be a missing .dll file (they don't all get replaced with a full system scan)

I managed to get it working by downloading the free trial file and using my account to patch it. Problem im having now is that my old files were from the Monolith version, where i had all my hotbars saved. I cant seem to find the right place to put the profiles folder to get them all back. Any ideas?

"I cant seem to find the right place to put the profiles folder to get them all back. Any ideas?"

Not sure what you mean but here's sort of a folder map of sorts. PROFILES goes right in THE MATRIX ONLINE. Here's everything that goes in PROFILES if you happened to separate it apart:

Monolith Productions > The Matrix Online > Profiles: Inside Profiles, a folder should be here with your SOE account name, all /loadlo .xml files should also be in Profiles

In SOE account name folder: "Characters" configuration settings, chat log .txt file, firstplay and tutorial .flg 's, keymap and tips .cfg 's. There should be a folder for every character name with an underscore and some alphanumerical code at the end

One of those character folders: a bunch of .cfg 's and a folder called "ui"

ui: A bunch of .xml 's, no other folders.
#36300420041 03/05/2008 15:04:57 Game just doesn't launch.
1. Goto My Computer

2. Goto Your Hardrive

3. Then Program Files

Follow the tree below:

C:/Program Files/Matrix Online/Profiles/Your Account/Your Character/ui

And then copy all the files from your old character into the "ui" folder.
