wot the hell is going on here with this game.  I came back to play this game and to find that im not getting value for money especially when i paid the subscription and so far i havnt played it because when i try deleting or logging onto my old character it says account in use.  ive lost 2 full days from my subscription. As a gamer returning to a popular mmorpg im disappointed with this problem surely it should have been fixed by now.  What can i do now apart from wait for chat support to open or just loose a whole month subscription for a game i may never be able to play again and just forget about mxo all together.

Head in this direction and submit a petition via 'In-Game Support'.

Unfortunately there is a problem with the database... I have no idea why it hasn't been fixed yet, and could speculate endlessly as to what the problem is.

As it stands, if you delete a character there is a VERY GOOD chance that your account will get stuck. The only way to get the account unstuck is to PM either a GM or TSR with your account name, RSI name, server of that RSI, and the last 4 digits of the credit card that pays for the account... OR submit a petition via:
http://soe-ing.custhelp.com/cgi-bin...ser/std_alp.php (under "game support", you may need to log in and verify your email address)

then you have to wait 'till they get to you (typically these requests only get processed during U.S. business hours on weekdays).

I haven't deleted a character since about day 2 of pre-launch, so I don't know your frustration... but I can guess.

Send me a pm with your station name, character name, server name and last 4 of the card on the account for verification purposes. I will do my best to get the account cleared as quickly as possible.
