So I copied the MxO installer to a new computer using Vista, and when I install it (with the antivirus off), and try to run it, it says "Failed to create a copy of the launcher or a critical support library for patching. If you have a file called Matrix.exe in your directory, please make sure it is writable.". I've even repaired it a few times and still gives me the same message. If anyone knows how to fix this, please tell me! Thanks in advance!

You need to go into "properties" and set the program to be run as "administrator". Should work fine after that dude.

Cheers

I got my friend into MXO just now and he had the same issue. Thanks Neopill that worked perfectly and he is enjoying his time as a Redpill now SMILEY

You'll probably come across permissions errors like that in other games, too, just FYI.

Vista tackles security by running you in the least necessary privilieges, and raising and lowering your privileges on-the-fly as needed.  Sounds like a great idea, except that it doesn't work right, works worst with older programs (say, pre 200SMILEY, and doesn't do it consistently (for an example of this, just browse your C: drive and try to access "My Documents" from all three panes in the Window).

If you run across more permissions problems further down the line, you may also need to track down "matrix.exe" in the install folder and right-click and do the same ("Run as Administrator"SMILEY.  I ended up having to do that on Ultimate x64.

*sigh*

I'm beginning to miss Windows Me.  At least then I knew I'd reached a dead-end, and I'd stop being stubborn about it. SMILEY
