This Haloween theme is severely limiting my ability to enjoy this game.
I am a new player to MxO, and am having quite a bit of trouble trying to learn how to navigate the city when it's pitch black.
Sure it's cute, but it is destroying my gaming experience.
Is there any way to disable it? No manner of Gamma adjustments help. I'd settle for code view, because at least I could see mobs around me and avoid them. Is there a way to turn on code view as well?
Sorry you're having trouble - I can imagine jacking in for the first time under these circumstances is... confusing to say the least. I know there's a useropts.cfg option to turn on perma code-view... but I can't seem to find it, sorry. Try searching the forums. Oh, and the Halloween event ends on the 8th, so don't get too discouraged.
See now on the other end of the scale you have people bitching about the Halloween event being too short (having lost a few days to the wild fires).
I understand it's tough on new players. I'd recommend using your map, as the code view options don't help under the reduced viewing distances of the dark sky-box.
put the following 2 lines into your useropts.cfg file in your MxO folder (if you don't have a useropts file, put those two lines into notepad then save as useropts.cfg with the filter set to all files. then put the file in your MxO folder): PlayerFX_LightPool_Bright_Scale = 1 PlayerFX_LightPool_Proj_Angle = 35
I just tested it and I can see the tops of building while HJumping and it lights up the whole of Mara C from the HL.

You shouldn't need that Bright_Scale setting, because the night-light is already on by default (set 0.915 or something thereabouts, I think). If you want it a little more intense you could raise the number. Setting it to 0 shuts it off.
Uhm ... ehheh .. heh heh , uh .. I thought the sky was supposed to be black.
ITS HALLOWEEN MODE!
Uhm ... yeh.
I was liking the absolute darkness. Adds thrill.
