I took a look at the rules and the other thread.  I think I answered my questions, maybe someone can tell me if the following is incorrect or correct.

You don't need dice, a hex board, or token to represent HCs.  Dice are replaced by /random 1-6.  Board is replaced by a website opened in an ingame browser or browser window opened by playing in windowed mode.  You can only fight people from your instance and must be present in the simulation with the opposing players and battle moderator during the game.  Based on dice score you use pen paper to plan moves and send to moderator in a tell.  He then takes both answers and updates the webpage to display results.

Is that accurate?

 /random 3

Out of game only.

Correct

Based on dice score you use pen paper to plan moves and send to moderator in a tell.

All of your team's chosen moves are sent by a team leader to the battle coordinator.

He then takes both answers and updates the webpage to display results.

Yes, but there may be some actions before update, like determining results of combat and ramming.

How long does a typical skirmish last?  Granted, the number of ships and players and the pace of the game will all be factors in this, so the question is just in general, how much time should be set aside before committing to a battle?

Is there a 3-on-3 minimum or can 1-on-1 or 2-on-2 skirmishes take place?

Are all the battles  "last ship (team) hovering wins" or are there sometimes other primary or secondary objectives besides "don't die, kill!" ?

Thanks for the time in answering the questions.

Usually the skirmishes last about an hour or so -- depending on how quickly people show up. I'd sign up within the 24 hours previous to the scheduled date/time, to give the Battle Coordinater time to get the board set up.

I think it's generally geared towards about 3 on 3, but the game itself is designed for up to five on a side, if I remember correctly.

The main objective is to take out as much of the opposing side as possible. Last time I played, I wound up being the last ship standing, but that was a fluke.

There can be an uneven number of players on each side. There are also matches with alternate objectives, but there has been only one so far, and wasn't held due to one side not showing up.

A 3 vs 1 match I was in recently only lasted 30-40 mins.

Seconded. The Quin can only take so much damage before I may have to replace it completely. If my operator'd apprentice calls it the PT-109 one more time...
