I would like to challenge anyone who is willing to a battle.

It'll be my first time... destroying a ship.

Machines won.

Yay for the Machines!
#36300321158 09/12/2007 04:49:36 Re:Hovercraft Battles
The list of subscribed captains is now available on the front page (and here). As you can see, the sides and instances are greatly unequal. There are not enough registered ships to hold battles, except Syntax EPN vs Machines. No matches will be scheduled until then.

No Cypherites? I certainly didn't see that coming.
#36300321205 09/12/2007 06:50:09 Re:Hovercraft Battles
Wahey, I appear to have registered twice.

I'd appreciate it if someone was able to remove the first of the two 'Nagamitsu's from the list, thanks.

Entry deleted.

The rules might seem complicated at the first look, but once the first turns are made, operatives quickly get it (and highly appreciate it from what I know). So to help operatives in understanding the rules, or maybe to test if this is something they should register to or not, I, and battle coordinators on every instances are available to give tutorials. If you are interested, you can form a group and post here what time you would be available. I will make sure to give a complete presentation of the rules, followed by a demonstration battle.
#36300321233 09/12/2007 08:03:30 Re:Hovercraft Battles
Additionally, if two enemy groups on the same instance want to hold an official battle, they can post it here with the proposed time. From time to time, I will post planned battles related to the current events in the War. For example, yesterday's battle was a retaliation after E Pluribus Neo's hostile usage of Code Pulse Devices to disable Sentinels. But there can be battles with no particular reasons. After all, ships do fight everyday in the real. The Hovercrafts Battle system allow operatives to gain rank for taking an active part in the war. The only limitation to these operatives-initiated battles is that there must be an equal number of ships on each side, while it's possible for planned battles to have an uneven number if not enough ships claim their presence for the battle.

Yes. There has been one official battle so far. For now, there aren't enough subscribed opposing ships on the same instance to justify the scheduling of another match. However, it is well known that a minority of operatives do check this forum, and thus, it's everybody's work to inform their faction about it, to create teams, to build interest. I can't hold everyone's hand, I'm only a man. The rules of engagements are there, the infrastructure are in place, the rewards for such are being set in place. Now, it's time to face destiny and jump in the arena.

Also, as I said a few posts before, you can schedule your own matches if you arrange with an opponent. We'll try to have a battle coordinator to oversee the match.

Internal structure of your ship isn't important. In needed times, first mates or even crew members can control their ship. This is why while the registration form has an entry for captain, it doesn't mean that only crew captains can register. Even 2 captains under the same ship could register, but both captains couldn't fight in the same battle for obvious reasons.
#36300322794 09/14/2007 12:44:19 Re:Hovercraft Battles
((I have registered 'my' ships. I have limited availability to jack in these days, so if there's any upcoming battles where the time/date is known in advance, that'd be great.))

Hm. In the interest of the Merovingian, I shall be dispatching the Holy Warriors Ex Zion to assist in combat.

You will meet a battle coordinator. Together with your team, you will plan your actions for the turn, which will be sent to the battle coordinator. He will then simultaneously do the moves, calling for rolls whenever ready, and at the end of each turn, an updated map of the battle will be put in place. The Battle Coordinator should be there before the set time to make sure the rules are well understood, and also to give a tutorial in case it is needed.

It's a daft system, to be sure. You could just call the times 'Pacific' and 'Eastern', as they change between PST/EST and PDT/EDT with the seasons.

If you don't show, each machine captain will get 2 XP. One for participating and one for winning. The surviving ship point is not available. If you do show and you lose, you'll still get your participation XP and the machines will get 3 each.

i hate to be a pain but iv just noticed somthing if mech keep fighting like this they are going to have better ships just though fighting more than rest of us, while we got EPN, Zion, EPN, Zion i dont think thats fair if you can see were im coming from. im not that fussed i can just see it becoming a problem down the line.

This is because the number of registered ships vary greatly. There are only 3 Merovingian ships, each one on a different instance, and no Cypherite ship. Since the Machines have a large number of registered ships on each instance, they have to participate in more battles, than let's say Zion or EPN who only have one enemy that they can face until Merovingian and Cypherites forces start having decent registration, unless Zion and EPN start fighting each other.
#36300323858 09/16/2007 15:07:05 Re:Hovercraft Battles
And it just makes sense. If the Machinists have a bigger fleet, they're gonna kick bottom. If other orgs have a bigger fleet, they'd better get out there and prove it.
