Well, it's time this discussion took place in earnest.
After the Morpheus sim rebelled against the General, it appeared as though the program might pick up where ol' Baldy left off. After all, the General himself said "I think I made you too well. Or too badly. . ." I didn't understand that fully until I started to ponder these questions.
In a world where nothing is real, not even the air we breathe, what is the difference between a human RSI and simulation program?
If each are programmed with the same thought and speech patterns, is one any more real than the other?
Can Morpheus return to the Matrix this way? And if so, will any of us follow him?
Now, let it be known that I think this is a terrible way to bring him back, but only because it will inevitably have to end. They can't run Morpheus as a sim forever. But, will it further the story?
I think they wrote Morpheus out because he was too strong of a character. He easily overshadowed the rest; Niobe, Seraph, Agent Skinner, even the Merv and the Architect. Hell I remember what it was like back in the early days. When Niobe came online, it was like, "ooh, Niobe!!" but when Morpheus came on it was all "ZOMG MORPHEUSES WE DIEZ 4 YOUR SHORTS!!!!!@@!!!2211"
So, if they brought him back, does being a sim give him enough 'balance' to make him less pivotal?
EDIT: for a better title and readability.
