Bit pricy mind. But they do feature in MxO. Hehe
MxO also features drugs and people using performance enhancers (I.E. Tactic Boosters and Health Boosters which they shoot up).  So should I start selling drugs and doping because of MxO?!!?!???!?!?!???!!

That was just a joke by the way
thanks for the help Hav I am probably gonna get an AlienWare.  The Auruas are some pretty bad *CENSORED* machines there.

Actually....

Pick up an Inspiron E1705. You can configure it with a 7900go and a sweet C2D CPU for under 2k. Toss in 2GB of RAM and a 7200RPM HD from Newegg or another online retalier (you can find both for a total of $200) and you should have a really nice gaming laptop for under or around 2k.

....That's what I did at least. SMILEY

NOTE: Since it will come up...what are the differences between the e1705 and the XPS...

Graphics Cards: The e1705 only has an option for the 7900go and not the 7950GTX go. The 7900go in the e1705 is a single pipe cooled version as opposed to a dual pipe cooled 7900go or 7950GTX go in the XPS. I'm not certain you'd be looking at a 7950 for around 2k but it has been noted that you can upgrade the 7900go to a 7950GTX or 7900GTX go if you pick up the XPS powerbrick.

Powerbrick: The e1705 has a 90 watt power brick and the XPS has a 130(I think it was 130 at least...) watt. The extra juice is needed for the video cards options that the XPS has.

CPU: The maximum CPU that the e1705 can be outfitted with (from Dell) is the T7400 while the XPS can be outfitted with the T7600. There has been some mention on other forums that you can toss in a T7600 in the e1705 though.

Network: The XPS gets gigabit LAN 10/100/1000 where teh e1705 has standard 10/100.

Aesthetics: The XPS does have a unique look to it with the extra LED lights in the vents and speaker screens. This is what really sets the XPS apart from the e1705 (that is if you are into that sort of thing...some aren't). The keyboard is also a different color on the XPS. Of note..I did pick up a carbon fiber (not real) cover for the LCD lid for the e1705, it does give it a little uniqueness to set it apart from other e1705's.

Everything else is pretty much the same between the two of them.

Benchmarks...Well I did some "tweaking" and I was able to bench 3Dmark05 at around 7.5k with a T7200, 7900go, 2GB RAM, and a 7200RPM HD.

That has a lot of words and accronyms that I don't understand.

But I'll look up the E1705 when I get my financial aid in.

QFE, I got an Inspiron E1505 which is the smaller version of the 1705, I bought it for school but I also run MxO on it at full settings with no lag at all.

I'll QFE this too, as my GF (she plays/works mainly off of laptops) can run MxO on full settings, little to no FPS dives (except, say on highest maxed out settings with a load of PvP going on at Mara type of situation) on her E1705.  On her laptop she runs a Core Duo 2.16GHz T7400 on a 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS vid card w/ 2GB RAM.  And I must say, the widescreen with MxO looks uber...very uber.  SMILEY

Sorry about the necro, But I'm in the market for a gaming/photoshop/video editing laptop between $1500-$2000 now.

I would've looked at the Inspiron E1705 that Raj recommended but Dell has ceased making those.  I've looked at the Inspiron 1720/1721's and have made several builds to just look.

Anyone else have any recommendations?  I'm just paranoid about getting a new laptop with Vista and not being able to do screenshots or video capture on it.

I recently picked up an Acer Aspire 5920 and it's a really nice machine. Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5250 (1.5 Ghz, 667 Mhz, 2MB L2 cache), 15.4 inch screen, Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT, 2 gigs of RAM, 160GB HD, and it plays HD DVD's, comes with a webcam on top, built in sub, etc. I got it all for about a grand and my only complaint is the Vista. Either way I'd recommend it since most machines will have vista on em anyway.
