GeForce 8800GTX - Major indoor lag!?

Did the lowest settings in both in-game, and in the nvidia control panel, latest drivers, same issue. Works great outside, unbearable laggy inside. Did a dual install with vista on another partition, no indoor lag, however i get the standard lighting and shadow on forehead issue that everyone else gets with vista.

It's very frustering, considering how my primary reason for putting this new system together was for a lag free MXO experience, and to assist with better fraps movie filming. It has ended up doing the opposite if i can't play in-doors.

Apparently this is a known issue with 8800 cards. So all we can do is wait for updated drivers.

Oh god *CENSORED* it! I just found out about the new drivers and was so hopful that this would fix this problem. I too haven't been able to set foot indoors ingame since I upgraded to the 8800GTX. So sad that such a powerful card could stumble on a game such as this...

Somone fix it, I wanna come back... >.<

I know how you guys feel. 

Currently, I'm playing through the pain. I find the indoor lag is worse when the mission zone contains lotsa doors. The frame rate seems to take the nastiest hits whenever you face a door (whether the door is on the other side of a wall, etc.). In smaller mission areas with fewer doors, the lag isn't as bad. At least, in my opinion.

Noteable locations where this occurs.
(This actually occurs in every building in the city, but i was asked for specifics so here are some examples, all of these are on the ground floor.)
It is worse in some locations than others for some reason, but it occurs in every building. I've posted a few random bad locations below.

Kedemoth: X: 658 Z: -898

Tabor Park: X: 726 Z: 448

Tabor Park: X: 675 Z: 535

Tabor Park: X: 606 Z: 537

Park East: X: -676 Z: 288

All Subways, buildings, everywhere. I could go on forever listing buildings. It seems excessivly bad when you first open the door and run into the building, with the game coming to a complete stop, then as you move inside after it unfreezes, you just get really bad FPS and choppyness.

Note that the choppyness only occurs in Windows XP, it does not in Vista. But Vista is just as unplayable due to the visual glitches.

I find the game unplayable in it's current state. Which is sad....

Someone needs to fix it....

I have checked this in my system, my power supply is an 850W Thermaltake, rated for Quad-Sli. I am only running one GTX.

I unplugged both 6 pin SLI connectors, and reconnected them. Same problem. My motherboard BIOS reads the +12V at 11.97v - I called BFG tech support and they told me that with this information, the power supply was fine. I don't think the power supply is the issue here. I'll post all of the requested hardware information below.

Also: I believe this issues occurs on the GTS models as well, which only use one power connector.

Our lab has carefully reproduced this issue. We noticed that when unplugging one of the power connectors to the 8800, and leaving just one plugged in, we started getting indoor lag. When the card was receiving full power the issue did not come up.

This leads us to believe that either your power supply is not sufficiently supplying your Video cards, or one or both of the power connectors are not plugged in.

I find it hard to believe everyone on this forum with an 8800GTX has insufficient power...

In these tests were you happening to be running Vista? Cuse Vista eliminates the lag problem (but adds graphics bugs.)

** EDIT ** Also it has just occured to me, if it is a power problem, why does it not happen in every other high stress graphical game I own? Its strikes me as weird the only game in the known universe that pushes the 8800's power needs past it's limit is MXO...

I dont think that they have closed the case on this, they will be just giving out hints, when they find another fix, they will post that aswell.

Well I spoke to my friend who put my PC together (Who happens to be an Nvidia Technitian) says that the powersupply he fitted should not be causing any problems like that.

He also says that issues like this are generaly ONLY solved if the game Devs contact and work with Nvidia... But since this game isn EQ2....

We care for all our products (even EQ:Mac, despite popular opinion to the contrary!) and are willing to investigate anything that is causing players malaise inside the game.

Unfortunately, I don't know what else (other than the "power" thing) could be causing this, but the data that's been provided thus far is interesting.

I'm not usually the sort that trolls around MMO forums ripping the developers and support staff. This problem has just left me a little bitter.

Still i am of the opinion that this problem can't be solved without a combined effort between the Devs and Nvidia.

I don't blame you or anyone else here.  It's a highly aggravating issue and we hope to track down the cause and quash it as soon as possible.

I've submitted all data found so far to the Quality Assurance team for investigation.  Unfortunately, I don't know when it will be resolved, but it is being investigated.

New subscriber, same 8800gtx card, same problem, came to the forums to see if anyone else has indoor choppiness and find a solution and i see this thread....ouch, not exactly what i was hoping for

Hope they find a solution for this because its pretty bad, and no i dont regret for a moment getting the 8800gtx, it was worth every penny in my opinion, its a pleasure to be able to play any game on the market at maxed settings without a shadow of lag. So far this the only game i had problems with. Its a shame because this game is surprisingly good, i never expected it to be that good given how underrated it was.

Thumbs up for the good support despite the lack of popularity of this fine game.

Yeah, i already tried the guru3d drivers. No help.
